I remember the guitar intro very well ! That's what I felt one afternoon, as a radio broadcaster, 2016 or 2017, after not having heard it in over 2 decades.
I will never understand how this band did not become huge. I know that Grunge music came out around the same time that Love/Hate did, but in my opinion they were never a Glam Metal band. They had their own unique sound and it is amazing.
When this song first came out, I thought it was a damned train wreck. I didn't understand a single thing going on in it. Now I think it's totally genius.
Love/hate had a kind of fusion element to their music, so whilst it was rooted in classic late 80s hard Rock sound. It seemed to have bits of alternative and funk rock. They were probably listening to Jane's Addiction. None the less. Love/Hate rocked and their first two albums are under-rated rock gems from the era.
Yeah a classic. They deserve more credit hung with them at a gig in Huntington L.I. when I opened they were REAL cool. Nice guys totally not stuck up and rocked hardcore!!
Over 30 years ago, backstage at a gig, I asked Jizzy if he would pose for a photo with me and if I could give him a kiss on the cheek and he obliged. So, bottle of Jack in hand (Jizzy), Jizzy posed and I pouted waiting for my boyfriend (aka not David Bailey!) to shoot the frame for what seemed to be an eternity. I ended up with a superb photo of Mr. Pearl and me (me looking like Donald f+%k&^g Duck) which my boyfriend proudly displayed on his bedroom wall as an A4 poster. Well Jizzy - if you're up for one of those ' same scenes recreated 30 years later' photos that people do these days just let me know.😂
Love/Hate should have been huge!!! missed it by 2 years...Saw them in a club opening for Dio just before Let's Rumble was released (awesome "disc"), drank shots of Jack with Jizzy at the bar while Dio cranked on stage, he wouldn't even go back to the bus...they were already sick of each other...
Wow! Love this song way better today than I did 20 years ago. This band was really talented. Got steamrolled by grunge tho. Wish I could find this disc somewhere.
Their first two albums Blackout In The Red Room and Wasted In America were rereleased and remastered a few years from a label called Rock Candy and they sound better than ever. Their third album Let's Rumble also got rereleased and remastered a few years ago from a label called Bad Reputation, and it also sounds better than ever. This band in my opinion should have been huge.
I don't know I seen him carrying a cross in this video I'm assuming this was a precursor to his publicity stunt or statement. You know we all did crazy things back I say if you didn't hurt yourself or hurt anybody else. And you can say oh did I do that or or yes I really did that 😏😋🤔😬🙄😲😕🤗
Check out their (well Jizzy Pearl's Love/Hate) latest album, Hell, Ca. Also Jizzy's latest solo album: All You Need Is Soul. Both are awesome! Saw him last year, he can still sing!
@sweetttina666 I don't see what this song, or the timing has anything to do with their not breaking out bigger, with Nirvana in the picture...Sorry. Apples and oranges, man...
80's throwback bands are actually beginning to make a resurgence in the underground now. I'm sure there's also so grungers out there somewhere, but I have yet to hear any of them, and I'm just not really interested. Whatever. So yeah.
Unfortunately grunge ruined any chance these guys had at becoming successful. I was a grunge rocker in the early 90's but then I discovered Ministry and kinda got into the goth metal thing with Type O Negative. If any grunge rocker says they don't like Love/Hate there lying because we listened to them all the time.

Greatest Party Band Ever

Sleaze Rock, before sleaze rock was cool.
Such a brutally underrated band. Their first 4 albums are amazing!
Underrated, underrated, underrated band....
Happy Hour leaves you satisfied; great music!
Such a great song. Was so far ahead of what many others were doing at the time.
THIS IS THE REAL ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!
When this song first came out, I thought it was a damned train wreck. I didn't understand a single thing going on in it. Now I think it's totally genius.
lol yea, its VERY different from what we usually hear from metal bands (80-90's). happy hour is an ultra-slick song.
Way more sophisticated than most bands were even attempting at the time, this.
It was wrong for it to be the first single.
its still a train wreck to me ! it seems like they were challenging people to like it by being so weird.in general love/hate were wicked though
This is one of my all time favorite songs by anybody. I’ve never heard anything quite like it.
absolutely Outstanding Band!!!
The dissonance is intentional to lead into that tasty chorus riff! Completley premeditated 👍🤘
One of my favorite bands
Amazing song from an amazing album and band!
These guys were far better than the usual hair stuff. I loved these guys while delivering pizzas way back in '91.
They were a great band back in the day. I saw them at the town and country club in Kentish Town, London, so much raw energy.
This song is wild and the whole album was pretty awesome. These guys never really sounded like in “80’s” band but got lumped in.
Love/hate had a kind of fusion element to their music, so whilst it was rooted in classic late 80s hard Rock sound. It seemed to have bits of alternative and funk rock. They were probably listening to Jane's Addiction.

no other way around
Absolutely brilliant tune!!!
Yeah a classic. They deserve more credit hung with them at a gig in Huntington L.I. when I opened they were REAL cool. Nice guys totally not stuck up and rocked hardcore!!

who else is watching this while having toast and strawberries for breakfast in Texas in the spring of 2023?
this song is so fucking amazing - can't stop listening to it!!!
Best mémories on my Walkman🤘❤️
Love/Hate should have been huge!!! missed it by 2 years...Saw them in a club opening for Dio just before Let's Rumble was released (awesome "disc"), drank shots of Jack with Jizzy at the bar while Dio cranked on stage, he wouldn't even go back to the bus...they were already sick of each other...

Brilliant! Brings back a lot of memories.
It's quite a wild, progressive song. I guess I can see why people didn't get it at the time. Great band, tho!!!
"Fizzy banger" has to be the best nickname/euphemism ever.
did anyone see love/hate blew the roof off in buckley Cheshire u.k . on the wasted tour probably best ever gig .
These guyz still rox!! Seen em/met em couple of timez,2! ;-P
This was shot at the legendary Al’s Bar in LA. I’m pool table guy. Great memories of that day.
What an awesome looking place! I wanna go!!
You can get all of Love/Hate material off of their website.
I LOVE This!!......
Jizzy Pearl can write books. Holy shit. He's great. And dude rocks balls 🎯🎃♠🤘👌👍💖💥💣
Ealier 90s this is scrape metal..hard to accept!!! But time after time..this genres really awesome. Salute to the staff.
Two great albums. And I mean Grrrreat! Tumbleweed, Fuel, Don't fkn fk with me!
Their first 4 albums are superb.
@@TheOnemanmoshpit Yes that is so true. "I'm Not Happy" is an often overlooked treasure and "Let's Rumble" kicked major ass
かっけー!
FUCKING GREAT SONG AND BAND!!!!!!!!!!
I remember the guitar
Beginning sounds like Jackass theme.
i know huh, wonder if jackass heard this. prolly so lol.
the jackass theme is called "corona" by a band called the minutemen released in 1984 so maybe lovehate heard that song and got influenced
1992
Inventive stuff, this song is. They really stretched the hard rock idiom with this one - and succeeded. Bravo!
why have comments been turned off on most of their stuff
GRANDI!!!!!!!!!!!
AWWWWWWWW
Under Martin Popoffs hypnosis
@sweetttina666 Right on! These guys could've been huuuge! But things went all wrong in the 90's
Is the opening riff the jackass intro?
IT's like someone gave RATT some acid
I like this a lot better than Wasted in America. Creative, disjointed. But interesting. Not a standard formulaic rock tune.
I don't know I seen him carrying a cross in this video I'm assuming this was a precursor to his publicity stunt or statement. You know we all did crazy things back I say if you didn't hurt yourself or hurt anybody else. And you can say oh did I do that or or yes I really did that 😏😋🤔😬🙄😲😕🤗
Think this has dated better than most hair metal particulary video. Shame love/hate are no more
I would not call it hair metal though
Love/Hate were never a Glam Metal band or Hair Metal. They had their own unique sound and in my opinion they should have been huge.

I try to like this band so much but they're all over the place
80's throwback bands are actually beginning to make a resurgence in the underground now. I'm sure there's also so grungers out there somewhere, but I have yet to hear any of them, and I'm just not really interested. Whatever. So yeah.
Cool song, but like Last Crack and King’s X they were lumped in hair metal which always confused me.
too bad the label stole it all !
Or they couldn't repay the advance. I'm not siding with the label but unless you can show me facts I have to keep an open mind.
Shit

This is a very bebop dissonance jazz sounding song.In the vain of Voivod
Nirvava sucks Where is grunge now. O i see it in my toilet haha. these guys kick the shit out of nirvava
