I live about 15 miles Southeast of Farmersville. When I started this video I thought you were a complete idiot for doing this even within 3-4 weeks from a rainstorm. I watched all the way through your second video and now I'm jealous and have a newfound respect for you. Most people don't just chance it. I recently did the Great American Rail Trail this year from DC to La Push, Washington so I understand the exploration desire. Well done and a great job on the production of your videos.

I got a couple turtles the next day. I saw one snake (no idea what it was but it was swimming through the water on the trail) Really makes ya a little nervous about getting stuck in the muck and falling over lol
Just got off of my bike after a morning ride and youtube showed me this. I like the pacing of the video and the clear long shots of the trail. Riding the backroads of North East Texas is awesome. Highly recommended. 👍
I live in this area, and generally like the undeveloped nature of the trail. I agree with staying off the trail after a lot of rain. We have that claggy mud/clay and it can be hard to see the ruts hidden under the water's surface. Thanks for sharing your ride.
I'm always looking for any place to ride my Onewheel on my way home. With traffic pushing me further and further to the east, I finally started looking for trails east of the lake. Thank you for sharing this gem. I'll probably limit my trips to Merit and Celeste. Gotta make sure I get home for dinner still.

I appreciate your hardiness and determination to make the trip despite the conditions prepared for you by storm and rain. Sounds as if you met kind people. It's amazing how flat the area, road, and trail look. the water had no place to run off, no wonder the puddles and mud were so plentiful. The rivers looked filled to the brim, also. Nice trip, nice editing. I'm glad you could use the drone, nice video from that. Follow along! well said. BTW, I'm in North Carolina.
thanks for sharing I did hike camp 2 tons of water 2nd time i tried to do full trail That time I did DNF because of the heat and crazy tall grass and old school wired gates it took ton of work to open and close When grass it 5 ft I bailed to dirt road to nearest town I plan to try again in Nov
Is that a new MTB? I use the same grips and bar ends on trips and have that same raincoat (without the hood). How the raincoat hold up. Haven’t had to use mine very much.
The mtn bike is old, 2010 or something. Gary fisher trek 29er. I haven’t had to use the rain coat much either, so far I’ve used it more as a windbreak outer layer. I like it, it definitely works and I like it being visible if I’m on the road and it’s raining
Shoulda done your homework. "Half done" doesn't mean blazed 100% & only half paved. It literally is not even completely blazed nor bridged - much less paved. Some areas are still in use by railroad or not released to trail authorities yet.

2nd time in the heat on MTB I DNF at rocksten I called to get picked Close to heat stroke The crazy tall grass and fences killed me Temp was 95F

We are close to Celeste, and have took a few horses down some of the trail a few miles.

@@TheBane1979 I’ve done the same thing using the coat as a windbreaker. Watching part 2 now. I need to get out doing more trips. That are always fun
