It looks great, and should function for what's needed

novel idea with the rods pulling the legs together , removes a lot of the complexity to make final adjustments to height and level. Just like my TV shows you leave us on a cliff hanger, looking forward to seeing it rotate. Great work

thanks for showing this Robert. Most people would just buy an auto twirler and then they have an expensive piece of machinery they’ll never use again. Nice job on this, and good luck with the finishing of the restoration of the 66.

No prob. I had looked for used ones but they are not available used without an unfinished car attached to them... Now the expensive part of the resto begins... The sheet metal part is cheap. The paint and associated coatings start the expense then suspension...

Looks good Robert. I agree, it doesn’t have to look pretty, just has to work.

I generally design stuff to work with minimal material. Might not be the prettiest but it gets the job done
Back when I was helping my friend with his classes and they were still doing the engineering and robot competitions our kids always had the best performing machine/robot but it was often the ugliest... They didn't always win because they would change the rules during the competition to allow someone to compete that should have been DQed because of big rule violations (cheating)and they would end up winning. It was so bad that at the end of the competition one year they had a long discussion with the judges and the sponsors of the competition and the sponsors were not happy and pulled their support and that was the last one they ever did.

Robert, looking at your shop and Chanel name, what is your day job?

The better 3/4 came up with the channel name. I am in commercial construction. But have done pretty much everything under the sun hence the variety of different tools and materials. ASE master tech, commercial refrigeration, electrician etc.

The hood I have is sold under several brands. Mine was boxed as a Dynacorn hood and I was able to get it locally on clearance for a drastically lower price than retail. The regular price has gone up considerably the last few months. This is a link to it at Summit under the Scott Drake brand.

Just be forewarned that the steel framed versions require lots and lots of filling bending and work to get it to look decent. A full fiberglass version requires much less work.
