Personally I thought that the reason Caine couldn’t remember is, like he said, because it’s a problem he’s “solved”, and it showcases his lack of humanity. Though he does care about people’s feelings, and overall is rather human, if he sees an issue as solved, he physically is incapable of finding a new solution because he doesn’t see it as a problem, and therefore doesn’t see it as needing a solution.
Caine says as much and said that he doesn't remember because he already solved that problem. Caine is an entertainer for children, he has no skill with adult problems and is certainly not capable of taking care of everyday human needs. He's doing the only thing he was made to do and thinking about how he's not doing a good job of it is existentially crushing for him. Imagine knowing what your purpose in life is and then finding out your bad at the one thing you were made to do
Why not both? He wasn't paying attention after he gave a solution because for him it was solved and when he pushed to know why the situation wasn't perfect again Zoobles told him to forget it so he litterally did.

I agree with the Jax part, episode 2 problem was that no one was there to smack Jax over the head. Zooble wasn't there to choke him and no one tied him up so we were left with a long stretch of the episode watching him be a menace which got old real quick.
I suspect that Jax is the way he is for a reason, and that will be explored in a future episode that pushes him in similar ways to which this one pushed Kinger.

I honestly really like Baron Mildenhall as a villain. He tricked both Pomni and Kinger to both trigger the angel into following them (telling them never to let the angel's severed head out of their sights… in a *completely separate room* from said head), providing them a shotgun knowing that they'd obviously use it to shoot the monster chasing them, *conveniently* not revealing the consequences of that until after they did it, and uses this as an opportunity to steal their bodies to escape. Pretty good plan NGL
what's also fun he's so far the least comedic villain, aside from the one joke where he promised not to jumpscare pomni. it also further drives the contrast between him and his wife, what little we see of her. His wife is a kind and sweet woman who just likes having tea with guests, while her husband's a selfish asshole willing to drag people to hell to save himself and, potentially (asusming it was him possessing pomni), mocking Kinger about his wife for no reason, as well as the fact his whole storyline is far darker and scarier than what we've seen even aside from what his wife's side of things is
@@sarafontanini7051The recording isn't even the recording even. Apparently it was HIM porentially talking through a device. So this whole time he might have known what was happening and just conveniently telling everything like it was just a recording.
I will say that I don't think they were trying to achieve die at the beginning of the episode. They knew that each character had a different reaction to holding their breath for a while, and wanted to see Pomni's. They also (*explicitly*) wanted to help her to see that she didn't actually need to breathe anymore. In addition to all of this, you *can't* (under normal circumstances) die from holding your breath for too long. Unless you're drowning or suffocating, you'll eventually pass out and start breathing normally again.
The scene with Kinger talking to Pomni about his wife and comforting her made me tear up so much, this episode forever put him in a new light. He is officially the best character.
I was reminded of my grandad. Trapped in that one moment for the last decade of his life... When you love someone... It doesn't matter if they're ugly, scarred, broken.... Or dying from cancer... They are the most beautiful person in the world.
That's how I was when I lost someone very special to me. I spent 11 years stuck in my head. Sometimes I still visit them in my dreams. I always tear up again when we have to leave.
The minute he mentioned Queenie liking insects, the line about the insect collection in the pilot made so much more sense. This was my favorite episode so far.
I don't think of the caine stuff in this episode, as him "being insecure about other people's opinions", I rather take it as him questioning his purpose. It started with Zooble questioning why he makes these adventures for the gang to go on, in the first place, followed by him questioning it himself, emphasis being put on "what AM I good at then?". It's potentially a setup for the digital Circus breaking down, as a result of self-awareness (since caine represents the digital Circus itself).
I have absolutely loved Kinger's character since the pilot and now seeing my theories about him get proven right and also him gaining more attention makes me want to explode into confetti
The episode came out literally an hour after coming home from the ER for fibroid pain and it was like it descended from the heavens when I needed it most 🥺💖
Kinger had great character development in this episode especially when he told Pomni about what happened with his wife Queenie before being abstracted, he even protected her with his shotgun and saved her from being possessed. He acted like a father figure to Pomni. Or maybe grandfather figure since he's been in the Circus the longest.🤩😊
And don’t forget the incredible lore drop of “Man, seven years of computer science for this, huh?” ‘Cause that isn’t a Circus memory, that’s gotta be an irl thing that happened to him
I’m worried that this is a setup on what’s to come. Especially when Kinger tells Pomni to hold the memories with people, who are close with you, when they’re gone. Given that this is an inspiration to I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, I pray Pomni will not suffer the same in the ending.
1:42 jax most likely doesnt want to provide any weaknesses to the others. Given how he shows sociopathic tendencies, he wouldnt want anyone to have anythign against him
I really liked this episode: it was actually really well done, and it feels like they're just getting better and better at telling their story. Kinger and Pomni becoming bros was not on my bingo card, but I love it, and I'm so glad she's actually TRYING to be friends with Ragatha now. Like, just that little acknowledgement of hey, I see you, I know how hard you're trying to keep us all together and I appreciate you for it was super sweet. I am ALSO looking forward to Gangle-or maybe Zooble, that could be fun, too-taking Jax down a peg or two, but I'm not the biggest Jax fan, so that could be me. XD
09:37 the nowere lore was foreshadowed. When Kingler and Pomni get into the room where they find the key there's a shot of a bookcase. One of the book's says angels. I only caught it after a rewatch. So far this one is my favourite episode.
I think the reason Jax didn't want to share his holding breath change is because... he doesn't have one; since he was never a human. He is either a game A.I or NPC who gained sentience created by Caine. He's tricked everyone into thinking he is a human trapped in the game. His merch pin has ties to this theory too. Jax's room isn't on the pin back like the others, but instead it's just his "Door" with the void behind it.
I just loved this episode. It just touches on some very real topics that very logically fit here and have been alluded to all throughout. Kinger’s trauma over the loss of his wife and the parallels to dementia he experiences as a result, and it being played both for reasonable laughs (not at him necessarily but at the result of his antics) but also allowing him some really serious moments that shows he really, truly cares about the others and helping them through a trauma that he’s been there the longest to see. Then there’s Zooble with their body dysphoria (I think you used the term dysmorphia, but I wonder which one it’s technically be closer to since dysphoria would reflect the body not actually being theirs to begin with) and the clear depression that has accompanied it. And not to mention the clear limitations were seeing with Cain’s programming and how he genuinely means well to whatever extent he’s programmed to, but he also is doomed to operate in a cycle of what he is designed to do rather than being able to operate outside of the box. And how Zooble doesn’t take it out on him for the most part, probably in part because they acknowledge that he literally can’t do anything outside of this. They’re annoyed with him and don’t want to be involved, but you can tell they’re not actively antagonizing him over it, just not wanting to have a conversation they’ve likely had dozens of times before.
My thing is I can't stop thinking about the "ooh... you look beautiful, honey..." scene. Whilst staring into the angel's mouth, he sees Queenie, if that doesn't mean something, I don't know WHAT does!!
“ subverting your expectations and trying to surprise your audience doesn’t always yield better results.” David Benieoff and DB Weiss: Yall hear something??
The series can always be a bit hit and miss with it's comedy for me, sometimes it's good and sometimes it's a complete miss of random = funny. But that "please don't come alive" joke made it all worth it, the timing, the way the eerie ambience cuts out temporarily it's perfect and had me dying.
I was utterly blown away by the Kinger plotline, his soulful moments weren't on my Bingo card but as you said, it was a feast. He's that archetype of the outwardly crazy character like Ice King with a good man deep down inside that loves and cares for others deeply. Though obviously not to the same obsessive level as Simon lol
I'm a trans man and I was hit DEEP with Zoobles line about their body. That talk gave more body dysphoria, especially since I'm pretty sure they're non-binary, or at least not cis. Id give the episode an 9/10, I don't like horror but I LOVED THE REST OF THE EPISODE
Kinger has been here the longest so he's probably been on hundreds of adventures, and it shows when he gets himself together and basically carries Pomni through the adventure.
Kinger, especially in this episode, is a lot like a grandfather with dementia, trying as best he can to help his children and grandchildren even with his degenerating mental condition.
Me and my friends had a couple theories about Kinger. My friend thinks that Kinger was one of the main devs of the circus but since he has been trapped in there the longest his character is running out of ram which gives him the crazy memory loss. This is also proven because apparently the screen going dark helps computers run better. My other theory is that Kingers wife wasn't a dev but Kinger wanted to show her what he was working on and they both got shoved in, so Kinger blames himself because she would have never been apart of this without him
I liked the mystery mansion! It was fun, it shows that while Caine doesn’t fully understand people or what they want he is slowly trying to become better at helping them.
I think it could be discussed why when pomni is possessed she says “how’s your wife kinger?” I don’t think Caine added that JUST for kinger, so that line could definitely be dissected a little more.
My theory is that this digital circus is actually limbo where souls that are not ready to move forward go. That's why cane floats and has hundreds of eyes. Clearly reference angels. Cane's job is to entertain the souls of humans until they are ready to pass on. Aka abstracting. That would make sense because the abstractions have multiple eyes. So the reason why nobody floats other than cane is because their souls are still attached to a physical body. That's why pomi saw a chair and a desk when she found the exit door. It's where she died in reality.🤔
As someone with a lot of body dysmorphia and dysphoria, I think Zoobles portrayal of these is written very well. I love how it's done in such a respectful manner and in a way that serves to educate people. Also they are so real 😭
Touching the abstraction of his (kinger's) wife probably saved him from abstracting himself. If he's so sober everytime, I don't think he'll be able to cope to see everyone lose themselves to themselves. And probably because Kinger's subtle 'abstraction' isn't physically noticeable, Cane never detected it, thus never "fixed" it like he did with Ragatha. Kinger was so reliable, so smart, and brave. I'm guessing he joined his wife down the 4th to try and save her, if not, to join her. Definitely deserves to have an avatar of a King. I wonder how the Avatars are related to the character's personality. Bc clearly, we know why King is "The King" The others, I don't know much about them yet to speculate
I saw a theory one time saying about what would happen if Jax found out about caines mental breakdown destroying the digital world. I personally think he’d try to antagonize Caine until he snaps as a way of breaking the world and escaping if he knew of this
Another good thing to note is that the Adult version of today's adventure would have been something Jax would have loved. Guns, gore, monsters and scares. You cannot tell me the purple bunny bastard wouldn't have had a riot.
Also, saw a comment on the episode of how Kingers moments of lucidity somewhat reflect what happens with elderly dementia/Alzheimer's patients, and as someone who lost their grandfather to that disease? It hurts extra hard
Thought he was a chronic cinic. But he actually sat down to see whether he will enjoy this series and I 💯% agree. King IS the goat! I'm also looking forward to the new adventures.
@@bobbydenney8368 and as the episode progresses things get more and more broken and glitchy and the group will have to get Caine out of this meltdown and there can be multiple reasons why Caine could have said meltdown. The one I want most is that Caine gets an glimpse into the real world and it breaks his A.I so much that it causes the meltdown simply due to his code failing to register what he saw.
If i had a nickle for everytime glitch made 2 charators hold hands and walk down a long corridor, i would have 2 its not much but its weird how it happened twice.
Kinger has been my favorite since the first episode and now after this, I love him even more. He’s such a compelling character so so very well written. He and pomni’s dynamic is very moving, it feels like a grandfather comforting his grandchild over a genetic disease that will cause them both to lose themself at some point.
There's probably more humanity in the abstractions that we think. My running theory is the abstractions are human minds that have been suddenly and unceremoniously robbed of the bodies they were given in the circus. The bodies can be deleted, but minds cannot and this is likely what's left over. Imagine if you suddenly lose your form, and even your ability to speak or communicate, and you're just a mass of nerves and awareness? You'd probably freak out too. And yes I'm implying abstracting is not breaking down and becoming those things, but rather you become those things when your body is taken from you by the system, likely in the process of replacing you with someone else (Pomni replacing Kaufmo). Considering all those abstractions in the basement, it seems there's been many minds thoughtlessly thrown aside, likely when they become to out of sorts with the circus world.

Oh oh oh let me add to it!: He didn't use the exit when he found it because he didn't want to leave his wife behind.
@HuevonMakor I think it was more he immediately forgot about the exit he just saw
What i noticed is that Pomni said, "He wants me to suffer." She could be talking about Cain or jax, but then why not say their name instead of He so Pomni might be remembering someone from her past life
Yeah I was wondering the same thing, but what kinda ruins it is that she has no memory of her past self
@@miguelangelooliveira6961 She might have some memories still, just like Kinger briefly mentions remembering seven years of CS in this episode.
She says it right after Kinger gives the "7 years of computer science for this, huh?" line, it's like both characters temporarily regained lucidity of who they are and why they're there.

You guys are right, well I am excited to see where they go with that line
Imagine knowing what your purpose in life is and then finding out your bad at the one thing you were made to do
I saw someone say the reason he doesn't remember is bc Zooble kept saying "forget it" and he was obeying that command
Why not both? He wasn't paying attention after he gave a solution because for him it was solved and when he pushed to know why the situation wasn't perfect again Zoobles told him to forget it so he litterally did.
@@NYMIKOlike someone with some type of admin status issuing a command? Because my theory thus far, I’ll need to see maybe another episode or two involving the others to confirm.
But my theory is that pomni and the others (abstracted characters included) were a mix of programmers and beta-testers and as pomni in this episode mentioned a ‘he’ it could be either Caine/Jax like everyone assumes or the possible ‘A’ in Caine and Abel people theorized from the pilot.
@@lou9635 Zooble has said that they’ve had this convo before, maybe Zooble can catch on every time they tell Cain to forget?

But I feel like big reveal and big secret reveal always hit harder after we get to KNOW the characters. Have moments to understand their back story and dynamic

I kinda love that even though Pomni was terrified she didn't lash out at Kinger. She's like: "o wow he just said something weird and unhelpful. Yeah it's the worst timing. Ever. But like. How can I blame him?" I always loved Kinger, even in his crazy phases he always seems so calm and grounded and genuenly concerned about those around him.
Zooble? Love them. Holy shit.
Cane being a shitty DM just gets to me, it's so good, damn, I've been there.
And Jax. He's not a bad character but he's a type of character that I personaly don't enjoy. If the show will let the rest of the cast bully him in return sometimes it'll be priceless
I got worried when Caine freaked out about not being good at his puprose......
Whole circus went crazy for a bit there.
@@DjPrimeVideos I hate how the Jax d riders were mad about him not having some sad backstory, like I’m sorry he’s a JERK. I like Jax, dude entertaining and I can’t wait for Gangle to do him in

Plus,it’s a pretty normal thing to do,especially as kids. I remember trying to see who could hold their breath the longest when I was a kid

There can be no failure to a man who has not lost his courage, his character, his self respect, or his self-confidence. He is still a King.

He also mentions the candy bugs when they enter the kingdom in ep 2
I don't think of the caine stuff in this episode, as him "being insecure about other people's opinions", I rather take it as him questioning his purpose. It started with Zooble questioning why he makes these adventures for the gang to go on, in the first place, followed by him questioning it himself, emphasis being put on "what AM I good at then?". It's potentially a setup for the digital Circus breaking down, as a result of self-awareness (since caine represents the digital Circus itself).

Kinger having the saddest backstory is not what I was expecting for this episode.
Genuinely was not expecting KINGER to make me emotional out of all the characters, but god did they deliver.
The episode came out literally an hour after coming home from the ER for fibroid pain and it was like it descended from the heavens when I needed it most 🥺💖
I hope you're feeling better 😥
Kinger is the KING!
...who miss his Queen.
Kinger is kind to his core, deep under all that insanity there's a good man and I think that's what really touched us, ya know?
I find it funny that the wife implies that the whole side adventure Pomni and Kinger went on was just an overly dramatized 52 second story.
It could be that time passes differently
Kinger had great character development in this episode especially when he told Pomni about what happened with his wife Queenie before being abstracted, he even protected her with his shotgun and saved her from being possessed. He acted like a father figure to Pomni. Or maybe grandfather figure since he's been in the Circus the longest.🤩😊
And don’t forget the incredible lore drop of “Man, seven years of computer science for this, huh?” ‘Cause that isn’t a Circus memory, that’s gotta be an irl thing that happened to him
We do know they have memories of their past, they specifically only dont remember their names iirc
Thats not new, only they dont remember their names
3:56 i find it a bit sad that Caine made a complicated, horror themed escape room with deep puzzles just for Zooble but she still didnt come
I’m worried that this is a setup on what’s to come. Especially when Kinger tells Pomni to hold the memories with people, who are close with you, when they’re gone. Given that this is an inspiration to I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, I pray Pomni will not suffer the same in the ending.
YOU MF, HOW COULD YOU. HOW COULD YOU SAY SUCH A THING
Kinger becoming my favorite character was unexpected.

8:15 fun fact, in the official spanish dub, Kinger says he doesn't speak lovecraftian
1:42 jax most likely doesnt want to provide any weaknesses to the others. Given how he shows sociopathic tendencies, he wouldnt want anyone to have anythign against him
Oh yea people project, if they use anything about others against them, they assume that others will use stuff against them too
I really liked this episode: it was actually really well done, and it feels like they're just getting better and better at telling their story. XD
I truthfully didn’t mind Pomni being a little mean towards Ragatha, because truthfully when I’m in a bad situation I can’t stand positivity.
@@BearSmoothie I get that, and kinda agree, but I do still like that she at least recognizes Ragatha really is trying her best, too.
Proof when? 🙏🗣️🔥
Definitely dysphoria, not dysmorphia, in Zooble’s case, agreed 100%
My thing is I can't stop thinking about the "ooh... you look beautiful, honey..." scene. Whilst staring into the angel's mouth, he sees Queenie, if that doesn't mean something, I don't know WHAT does!!
7:00 Note that the Netflix description of the show describes Caine as “A wacky Ai” confirming he isn’t a human and is a computer program.

Kinger has been here the longest so he's probably been on hundreds of adventures, and it shows when he gets himself together and basically carries Pomni through the adventure.
This episode was the best so far and the saddest. We learned so much about kinger it's heartbreaking what happened to his wife.
"I miss my wife, pomni...
I'll be back..."
Cain is definitely God in this game if he freaks out than everything stops existing.
And in episode 2, Loo refers to him as god
Kinger, especially in this episode, is a lot like a grandfather with dementia, trying as best he can to help his children and grandchildren even with his degenerating mental condition.
Me and my friends had a couple theories about Kinger. My friend thinks that Kinger was one of the main devs of the circus but since he has been trapped in there the longest his character is running out of ram which gives him the crazy memory loss. This is also proven because apparently the screen going dark helps computers run better. My other theory is that Kingers wife wasn't a dev but Kinger wanted to show her what he was working on and they both got shoved in, so Kinger blames himself because she would have never been apart of this without him
"please don't come to life..."
Zombie: Okay i won't
that was funny.
You going from hating this show to liking it (if that’s true) is such a true act of character development
He didn't hate it (he was more mixed on it), but yeah.
As someone with a lot of body dysmorphia and dysphoria, I think Zoobles portrayal of these is written very well. I love how it's done in such a respectful manner and in a way that serves to educate people. Also they are so real 😭
"I miss my wife, -tails- Pomni."
Kinger rips and tears until it's done.
Bc clearly, we know why King is "The King"
The others, I don't know much about them yet to speculate
"I miss my wife Pomni"

I saw a theory one time saying about what would happen if Jax found out about caines mental breakdown destroying the digital world. I personally think he’d try to antagonize Caine until he snaps as a way of breaking the world and escaping if he knew of this
Another good thing to note is that the Adult version of today's adventure would have been something Jax would have loved. Guns, gore, monsters and scares. You cannot tell me the purple bunny bastard wouldn't have had a riot.
YOOO MY friend made the art on the thumbnail! great video btw

Oh my God that sounds absolutely awesome
@@bobbydenney8368 and as the episode progresses things get more and more broken and glitchy and the group will have to get Caine out of this meltdown and there can be multiple reasons why Caine could have said meltdown. The one I want most is that Caine gets an glimpse into the real world and it breaks his A.I so much that it causes the meltdown simply due to his code failing to register what he saw.
If i had a nickle for everytime glitch made 2 charators hold hands and walk down a long corridor, i would have 2 its not much but its weird how it happened twice.
Kinger's "What" after the angel reveal was the funniest thing I've seen all week.
