Used this tutorial for my music exam in school and it went brilliantly ! Great tutorial
Its taken me a couple of months but I've always wanted to nail this one down. Thanks man!
This has to be one of the nicest guitars ever he’s using
Thanks! I finally can play this.
Thanks for your quick reply, I´ll try to work it out this weekend.
They're a brilliant band to learn from as Squire had to take about 3 guitar tracks from each song and represent them live standing there with the one guitar. I learned how to pick the important stuff out.
cheers for the great video mate having heaps of fun with it . went and seen stone roses the other week, blew me away!
great cover thanks now i can play
I’ve been winging that intro for years. Not a million miles away from what your playing. Sounds good
Mate, we are playing our second gig next Sunday and I wanted to cover this. Now I can play the intro I'm well happy thanks to this video
Superb
thanks man! this is a great help!
cheers garylad. brill upload - youve nailed it fella ;)
great guitar man
brilliant stuff, this has been my no 1 guitar ambition for so long. i know its easy for some but not for me. thanks for taking the time gary, you are a star mate.
check out his band people, well good !
thank you! i've been looking for this for a while.
i'm a beginner but i like this song so much that i will try to get it :)
Bas Kollen it's now 2018 how good are you now?
@morganzh Cheers, glad you've found it helpful.
Wow your really good man
great video, i like how you've nailed the percussive tone of the original guitar part...beautiful guitar too, i might buy the modern take of the original...i like yours more though :)
sweet guitar mate
Cheers for the vid - helped me get those arpeggios down near the nut. Although I think the live version starts slightly diff to yours. g-a-g-e-g-e-d-c-d-c-a-g-a-D----. One good turn and all that! Cheers again!
Hey mate, chuffed the video helped. Let us know how the gig goes and if you need any help with roses tracks.
@jordidwdw A lot of the stuff from around the time of the debut album has a flanger on it at some point, especially the live versions of songs, that's where it's most obvious. I wanna be adored intro, She bangs the drums, mersey paradise, sally cinnamon, made of stone solo and various parts of i am the resurrection. Squire used a Boss BF-2 flanger like the one in my video. Hope this helps.
Nice guitar pal.
killer guitar man ;-]
Very talented, no way I would get that down
@purenectar cheers mate, appreciate the nice comments. There's a video of my band playing 'adored' too if you're interested. The new verythins are nice, if you look out for the limited edition ones they have the same fretboard and pickguard as the originals, look much nicer than the standard CT verythin.
@Nachax85 @Nachax85 cheers, glad its helped.
@danparsonsguitar16 Cheers mate, glad you found it helpful. Well done with your cover, sounding really good.
@TheFunkologist yeah the sound can be recreated using a strat. John squire has been playing it on one during the reunion tour.
You Rock!

great vid @garylad71 this is my fav song, but i struggle to see what you are doing in the 1st few notes of the into, isit 14 e 18 e i struggle, a little blind haha
Good job man. looks like mostly B minor pentatonics. It has almost an asian/eastern sound happening. Cool stuff!
asparagusman A lot of Squires art was influenced by Islamic culture. There is a video on RUclips about it
@garylad97 what's the tab for the first part you play?
@AlanWowler Erm....no, not really. I'm not a trained musician, I just fiddle about for fun on guitar. If you do a web search for pdmcauley and his pages on john squires live set up, he breaks down the songs and explains the scales, as well as how to get the sounds. Just go on google and type in 'john squire live set up' and its in his pages. Hope this helps, cheers.
@Abaris88 I can't tell you anything about the modern verythins I'm afraid as I've never played one. Mine is a 1964 hofner 4574/verithin. I can tell you that the original verithin series of guitars are extremely light, lighter than most acoustic guitars even. I guess they could be top heavy due to the lightness of the body but mine feels well balanced. I can also say that the originals like mine have no sustain block at all! So they will feedback ferociously if you're not careful.
@daveparker505 sorry about the late reply mate, just been busy. The intro on the 1st (e) string is 14, 17, 19, 17, 14, 17, 14. Hope this helps?!
what stone roses song would you use a flanger on please write back :)
@garylad71 yea thanks man it did i just purchased a flanger thanks alot tho ;)
it would help greatly if u had the tab as an anotation, could u pls? :)
man your voice seems like alex turner!!!
someone please help i can't do the second bit that fast lol
@LemonJohn92 yeah I probably do. I don't make many videos, just trying to explain as best I can.
can you put this in tab at all would be very grateul thanks
@mrmrhollingsworth Cheers mate
dont forget to be realistic - you will need to do some work whichever method you decide on for learning to play Guitar
I've been researching into playing guitar and discovered an awesome resource at Guitar guru method (google it if you are interested)
I know this is really late mate but I really can’t work out the bit at 4:22 and it would be brilliant if you’d be able to tell me the tab or just the strings you’re playing, cheers
Gary Elliott Cheers, helps a lot
Harry Groombridge the second part goes:
e
B 3
G 4 2 2
D 4 4 2 0 2 4 2 0 0 2 4 020
A 2 0 2 0 2
E
Can you re-create this sound using a stratocaster? Just wondering. Great video by the way, I got some studying to do haha
this would be much easier if you explained it!!

Tutorial is Not for the amateur
This is not a tutorial
2:03 man you surely talk a lot...
Terrible lesson
Jason thanks for your constructive criticism
Yeah Gary - Don't be wasting our time by putting up truly atrocious videos, which you obviously put no effort into. My God, as if it was bad enough being forced at gun-point to watch. Just in case there is anyone who hasn't twigged by now ... ruclips.net/video/-sbFhOeqTzY/видео.html
Great vid and more importantly, great sentiment putting it together. Yeah, the quality could be better, but it wasn't your fault that you haven't got the latest in video production material. If you did want to though, gis a shout - got Premiere Pro and a few other bits of software (and more than likely, time) to help.
BonzoBanzai sorry for the late reply mate just seen this now. Appreciate the comment and yeah there are some people who just can’t be pleased. Thanks for the offer man, I may take you up on some advice. Cheers
it’s a done lesson but for some it could be a bit slower
You Rock!
