It's #OneMinuteWednesday, and our #OneMinuteWonder this week showcases the wonderful Fridman Amps Golden Pearl overdrive pedal. For that tweaked, boutique Marshall-esque tone, Friedman have long been a favourite among players for their superlative guitar amplifiers. And so, they have condensed that signature tone into this little black and gold box.
Unlike many of their other products, the Golden Pearl is designed for the lower-gain player, in mind. Everything from gentle transparent break-up, through to a fat, overdriven blues tone can be achieved, with plenty of character, bark and soul. Courtesy of its voice mini-toggle switch, the Pearl can provide you with three clipping modes, to alter how the pedal overdrives. We love this little pedal for those classic, British amp tones that it so accurately, and classily recreates - and if that's what you're looking to achieve, the Golden Pearl is a surefire consideration for your pedalboard.
The guitar used here was a Fender Player Series Telecaster, and the amplifier is a Fender Blues Junior IV.
