I've watched a lot of power shovel review videos on youtube over the past 2 years and this video is definitely the BEST I've seen. Toro should PAY you!
You do a great video! It was very informative and honest. We were interested in the Power Shovel mainly for a three story wood deck. We have multiple condo owners and everyone needs to be able to use it. I think it will work for that purpose. Thanks for the information.
The main flaws to these pedals are, in my opinion: 1) No wheels. Pushing one of these (I have a similar unit made by SnowJoe) through snow of varying wetness / frozenness is MUCH harder than doing the same with a hand shovel; 2) trying to maneuver a heavy head on a single pole is hard. The whole thing feels off-balance, a bit like trying to lift a concrete slab with a pool skimmer.
Good video Jeremy. If I would to get this, I'd definitely use it on stairs, patio, and decks. I like the off season video release. Missing the snow season already haha.

Does your father have any mobility issues or physical disabilities? Because the Toro Single 60 Volt Power Clear could be a better option for him than the Power Shovel. Nice job! It's a shame it doesn't throw to the side / 45 degree angle. This would be a pain to use to clear a sidewalk, you would throw the snow ahead of you over and over and end up throwing it on your neighbors sidewalk. Going across the sidewalk, would require you to make A LOT of short passes to throw the snow into the street.
EXCELLENT REVIEW! So helpful. I bought another brand yesterday before seeing this video. The one I bought is lighter and has a directional feature, which I am hoping is not just a gimmick, but actually works. Thank you for being so thorough in your review. 👍

I figured I would give one of these snow shovels a try and if I like it, I'll spring for an upgrade and pass this one along to my son. The one I bought is an ENHULK Cordless Snow Shovel, 20V/12-Inch/4-AH Cordless Snow Shovel with Directional Plate and Adjustable Front Handle. I have high hopes it will do the job I need it to do. My driveway is a bit long and a bit sloped and my back can't take it anymore. My fingers are crossed! 🤞
Best review I have seen. I am looking forward to get a Toro but kinda confused between this and Ego Power. It is much lighter and has louvers to direct the snow sideways but not sure whether it is as powerful as the Toro.
I found this interesting as I wasn’t aware that Kobalt had a Power Shovel. So I looked it up. Kobalt: 5 -Year LIMITED tool warranty, 3-year LIMITED battery warranty. Toro: 3-year FULL tool warranty and 3-year FULL battery warranty I’ve got to say that I prefer a lithium-ion powered appliance or tool to have a full warranty. And I’ve owned Kobalt shop tools which in my experience haven’t had a good track record of quality. Tell me more about your Kobalt Power Shovel- what’s it like to actually use in the snow?
I have both types of shovels. Nothing will work well in packed frozen snow. Best is to wait till it starts to melt or get the snow before it does freeze up to that level of hardness.
Agreed- I just thought the frozen snow would be worth testing the Power Shovel on. It did better than I thought, tbh. Because that snow was frozen in layers.
@@JeremyY Try using an ice scraper for breaking up the snow before you use the power shovel. I watched the whole video and noticed that it's still quite a workout to use it. 🥵

6:12 if you review another one of these power shovels and run into that crusty snow again, you could try chopping it first with a garden hoe or a spade or a shovel and then use the power shovel
@@JeremyY do you have a fire hydrant near you that gets piled up in snow? I've seen a lot of public service messages on the TV news talking about clearing snow from fire hydrants but I've never seen anyone using a power shovel to clear it.
I've not used mine yet. I read in instructions that if snow is deep (I think said over 4 inches) to clear in two passes, with the first pass taking off the top half of the snow. But it didn't say how to do that! Tilt it back, maybe? - Hey, it's snowing; I can maybe find out tomorrow!
It would be better than having *no* snowblower at all, especially for the walkways. At the very least you’d be able to get in and out of your house without falling into a massive snowdrift!

If your 6 ft tall or above do not buy this!! Your back takes a beating from this.

Well I got a Kobalt power shovel and it works great, it's very similar to the Toro.

It is very good, the battery life is about average, but it shoots the snow very far.@@JeremyY

Yes these power shovels are heavy, not for seniors or little kids. But I've heard the Ryobi version is pretty light.

This is a great idea and would also be hopeful for breaking up those awful end of driveway piles that the snowplow leaves behind.

Yes it can- as long as the pile of snow around the hydrant hasn’t totally frozen into a chunky, layered up mess!

You clear it in 2 passes by layering it. Hold it like a shovel & remove the top 3-4 " and then remove the 3-4" layer under the top layer.

I think the idea of this power shovel is a great idea but I don’t know how effective it would be in a New York Blizzard
