  • In this video I put my Snowblower to the test. The driveway you can see was buried under snow as high as 75cm (or 30 inches). The whole job took me about 4hrs of work and the machines used about one full tank which is about 2liters of gas.
    Snowblower: WolfGarten Select SF61E
    Here is a list of items I can personally suggest for work like in my video:

    After we buy a snowblower: Ohh, my arms, my wrists, my back!
    Nice vid, nice plow work! I have a short driveway in the Sierras, but it's on a major highway. The berm at the end of my drive is like the one you cut through, but mine is usually solid ice if not cleared within a day. Gotta call a service for that.

    That was a lot of work. And all for your neighbor, yet! What a great friend and neighbor. You're an inspiration to all of us who watched to the end. Note : That sky is about as blue as blue can get. Isn't it great how clear and crisp the air is after a huge snow storm? Here in north-central Minnesota (USA), we only get a huge snowfall about once every 15-20 years and it's more like 18" - 24". I only remember 1 in the past 35 years that hit over 25".

    Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.

    Tolle Arbeit!

    Done this kinda thing myself, these smaller snow blowers weren't made for THAT kind of use, basically you have to do years worth of maintenance for a winter full of this.
    A tractor woulda been the way to go here, but you know that already, this was likely a good workout, and it is fun! 🤣
    I take off the skidshoes to stop it from riding up so much, which means changing a shear bolt now and then but that's fine.
    The neighbors will appreciate the favor, I'm sure, but I'm surprised they didn't put in sticks/markers if they were adamant about using the property in the winter? That's literally winter-life 101.

    • @dagjohnsen
      @dagjohnsen Год назад

      @@vf3289 Hi, if you have very icy conditions wheels with studded chains are the best for grip. I use that at home where it is very icy. But other than that tracks give better traction and go straight thru deep snow or harder snow without the blower seeking to lift in front. So much less workload for the operator.

      Sorry to hear that but you’re a good soul. We live on a 3/4m dead end road and we’ve all been here for decades. The ‘elder statesman’ Mickey has been plowing our road for years and I’ve seen the county less than several times over the years. EVERY SINGLE YEAR I’ve given him a gas card. It started out at $30 and is currently $100. He shows his gratitude by NOT leaving an insurmountable heap at the base of our 250’ driveway. As far as I know we’re the only benefactors of his generosity. We got a late 12” last year and when I got up to deal with it someone had plowed our driveway. So maybe this year I’ll up the gas card amount. Keep up the good work you two, it’s good for your psyche.

      I just bought a used, like new, Troy Built 28 inch snow blower last week. We probably won’t get any snow this winter now. I use to be the only one that had a job to get to that lived on our road so I plowed the road so my wife and I could get to work. We are both retired now and don’t need to get out so I’m going to plow my driveway and that’s it. I’ve got a quad with a plow, a SxS with a plow and a 27hp tracker, I had a pickup with a plow before all of that and now a snowblower. I’ve spent over $40,000 on equipment that I use to plow with. Last winters storm i was in the seat of my tractor for over 40 hours. Not only that I was out with my chainsaws cutting up dozens of downed trees and throwing those pieces off the road so I could plow it. Not one person came out to help. After 40 years of doing it it’s someone turn to pick up the ball and run with it, I’m going just watch it snow.
