I am suffering from gross gross hematuria which occurs only after erection. It started on Aug 17, 2013 and since then i have been under treatment with a very senior urologist. I have gone through a very intensive investigative tests. But the cause of the Gross Hematuria remains unknown. I am on proscar for the last one year and the bleeding had stopped for almost 9 months but it started again last week. I never have had any bleeding anytime except for when i have an erection. I would like to get a fresh set of eyes look at this problem. Maybe my urologist, although highly experienced, is overlooking something very simple. But before I do that can you talk about some common reasons of gross hematuria ONLY AND ONLY on erection (with and WITHOUT ejaculation).
My brother-in-law had the exact same symptoms for nearly two years. Drs (PCP & Urology team) treated him for urinary tract infections, while constantly (every 3 months, minimum) screening him for prostate & bladder system cancer. My sister said, his symptoms continued to get worse (more blood with ejaculation, which was then accompanied by pain). Despite the fact he had elevated creatinine levels, all of said screenings came back negative, for cancer, until after "the cancer had spread from his prostate, through his bladder, and into his kidneys, where it became more visible," according to his Nephrologist and Oncologist. According to his PCP, at Harvard Medical, in Chelmsford, MA; "his test results were consistent with infection(s) within urinary tract system, and the inflammation made it difficult to visibly detect the cancer." It was also determined that repeated & prolonged use of the same antibiotic also contributed to his weakened immune system; allowing the cancer to spread very quickly. But as I remember me and my family were drinking iced tea for lunch and when we got to the church i drank lots of water and when i got home i peed and I noticed that it was color pink and im was very nervous... Still nervous though because im still 14 turning 15 this october and having this stuff makes me sad and scared and im scared to tell my family about it because i know that we dont have lots of money.... I just want to know how much it would cost if i go for a check up or something and i just wanna know if it will cost a lot or not.... Please reply my comment because i really need it.. Interesting it says it should be taken seriously and investigated quickly, because when mine started it took 2.5 months to get in to a urologist for her to say that it was probably my diet. I've had the same diet my entire life pretty much and I've been dealing with this awful pain for about 5 months now and this woman has the audacity to tell me that my bladder is simply just irritated and charge me $250. However I know she is the professional so I'm trying to stay patient...
What happens if you have gross hematuria, but when you go and see the Dr the next day and he takes a urine sample, the urine is 'clean'? If there is not presence of blood on that particular day (such as might be the case of intermittent hematuria) will they still carry on investigating?
They found a tumour in my bladder. Cancer. They think they got rid of it all when they cut the tumour out and also gave me some chemotherapy. Extremely scary time for someone in their 20's who's never smoked!(not to mention painful!) I've had 2 'all clears' now in my 6 month 'checkups'. They are keeping a close eye on me since i'm so young, but fingers crossed!! Good luck. Get it checked out if yuo haven't already. Could be lots of different things.
Yeah ,thats quite young to be going thru that,,,,in one way its better than older to go thru this,,,,,you can recover better.I hope it all works out good for you. Try and streamline a diet that will work for you... Iv ebeen going thru this too,had a scope but bladder appeared fine but I do have stones and they can cause some problems and bleeding,,but these things could be caused by anything. hello I wounder if you can help me please I had a kidney pain 15 years ago I was given pain an unknown killer in that time since then blood shows a urine in strip test CT scan and Cystoscopy was negative I t's now over 14 years because I have pain related to IBS lower left abdominal pain dry lips fatigue and it's impossible to sleep on my right side because of the pain it causes I appreciate any advice or help given I start to doubt Doctors are not telling the truth about my CT scan kind regards Ali
Check your kidneys,test urine general and blood test for creatine .Did you had an accident and caused that pain? abdominal ultrasound.Visit a kidney specialist

That's why you should always go to an emergency room, at a good hospital. They can run tests and give you the results in a few hours.
I would prefer a urologist over an ER doc.
