I never tire of listening to this. Became so obsessed with it, I taught myself to play it in Irish Bouzouki, Octave Mandola and then guitar. All I need now is Paul Brady’s fantastic voice 🎶 ☘️
A hundred generations raise their parting glasses.
Love this song.I was so in love with an Irsh lassie in Dundrum Tech when I first heard this...innocent times.
Masterful both of them, absolutely love Andy's backing.
I love the way Andy never seems to take it too seriously but always delivers.
I can't believe I missed this show, I would have been so happy to see these two musical masters play their roots
This is a duo made in heaven, it's always a pure delight to hear these two sing & play...!!!!
Such a fantastic duo. That gig was amazing, and this song was the highlight of it for me
Paul Brady, what a treasure. Love the Gaelic version of this too.
This modern day version is still excellent. Fair play to them.
Mr Dineen its been 4 years and Irishmen are still paying attention to there music. Up the trads

This is how this song should be sung
Now that's the stuff! Thanks so much for sharing it. Does a person good to see the beloved foundation still holding it down, and that they are.
Pure class...awesome!
Excellent version! Love this!
Paul just gets better. Andy always good.
very nice i can rember very well when i heard paul sing this for the first time, my sister came back from holiday in northen ireland in the late 70's and she brought the album back with her for my father i was only 7 at the time paul was on it with Tommy Peoples and Matt Molloy. Thanks
Paul sings a great song without accompaniment called,”The Shamrock Shore,” in a pub in the 70s. It’s fantastic too and it’s on RUclips

Brilliant performance, I'm going to see andy Irvine here in Kent in October , it's a shame Paul Brady won't be joining him
Just booked tickets for them in Cork this October, to see them play together.

Nice but I'd prefer the duo's earlier version from the 1970's also on u tube. It think it had much more purity.

+charles ireland One of the best for sure.

Lak Herr bidmon ja was machen sie mit uns was hat das mit englisch zu tun
i don´t like paul brady´s style. even from times of he johnstons. too many ornamental musical phrases (example: 3:50). seems he tries to sing like van morisson...
then don't listen
Billi Backer I don't hear it lol
Well, he and Van both have a similar accent and voice tone, sure, but as Van's forays into folk came relatively late, maybe HE was influenced by Brady ;)
Brady does throw in a mini-chord step between the two chords from 3.51 - 3.53, but whatever his known idiosyncrasies, he has done a lot for music, especially Irish Folk. Great music and apparent minor warts can co-exist, even though tastes may differ.
Troll.
