Just discovered this remarkable talent. Something causes an awakening of my Irish soul when listening to this music. I need to visit the Emerald Isle before I take the long dirt nap.
My maternal grandmothers parents were children of Irish immigrants. They came to the states via NY from somewhere in ulster. Their name was Bradley likely changed on entrance from O'Brallaghan. They ended up with a lot of other scots-irish in appalacia in PA. Proud of all my heritage though something about Irish culture has always just clicked with me. Loved this performance and will be adding it to my St Paddy's play list tmrw :)
Have to say that was class. Brilliant. That's Passion and how it should be done. Every word heard and sang with the old style of Irish folk that flow through his Viens.
Hello Daoiri and fello appreciators of good quality music and singing. You're an inspiration to us fellow bouzouki players and I'm sure everyone will join me in wishing you all the very best in your career as one of Ireland's leading performers. Happy Easter Daoiri.
Daoiris rendition of this gives me chills in my spine and makes the hair stand up on my skin. Beautiful playing, surprising syncopation, gorgeous lyrical voice. 👏
Why do the Irish always talk about the Irish who went to North America? The Irish had an enormous influence on the fabric of Australian history and culture. We are what they became. (My great grandfathers cousin married Mary Collins, the sister of Michael Collins). Peace be with you, from Australia.
The US has more Irish descendants than there are actual Irishmen. BY FAR more Irish went to the US, than any other place in the world, by total number. That's why
Strictly, you can't tell without seeing the body of the instrument (flat bottom), but given that he is an Irishman playing Irish folk, I'd wager it is. A skilled ear could probably also distinguish the tuning, which is traditionally different on greek bouzoukis.
so yes it is a irish bouzouki. Greek bouzoukis normally only have 3 courses not 4 like this one and the silhouette is pretty typical for irish bouzoukis.
The greatest trad singer of his generation and class player.
Absolutely
I love this
Class🎉
First time heard this young man fabulous voice great rendition of this fab song
A brilliant artist. Can’t understand why he’s not more famous. Great voice. Irish soul .
Don't worry, he is well on the way to fame, with the likes of Andy Irvine & Donal Lunny.
He is well known in Ireland. And rightly so.
Not sure fame is his chief concern. I think it will be thrust on him willynilly pretty soon now. A great artist with a huge heart and talent to match.
Love the voice. And the bouzouki. And his diction! Every word is so clear and distinct! Wonderful!
Great Stuff Daoiri. Best wishes and respect fae your Scottish Brothers. Alba agus Erin Gu Bragh.
Brilliant as always
Despite the wandering of people around the set, Daoirí shines.
For me, he is someone who sets the standard for an Irish singer. A standard that is very difficult to achieve and imitate.
That is wonderful. Andy Irvine & Donal Lunny looking over their shoulders! (Bet you're best of mates anyway!)

My great, great grandmother name was Laura Farr 🤔 her mother emigrated from Belfast. Maybe were a kin each other. 🍀
Yes, Farr is a derivative of O' Farrell, so, in Ireland if you have the same clan name you are related at some point in history.
Great!!!

And Scottish. I know, I’m a descendent.
There are a number of great songs celebrating/lamenting Ireland’s connection with Australia eg. Back Home in Derry, The Wild Colonial Boy etc.
Is that a Irish bouzouki you are playing?
