@@BanginGearsGarage just put my boxes on and was easier than I was figuring. The latch is adjustable up or down and one box needed adjusting and now shuts and latches easily.

@@BanginGearsGarage I had my swing case fitted at my local Ford Dealership and I’m very happy with the fitting. It’s a nice case to keep a car/vehicle medical kit inside it along with a flashlight. Cable ties and bungee cords. It’s a great little case! Recommended!
Good instruction. Thanks. Unfortunately, after installing the driver's side unit, the swing rod didn't align very well with the latch. I lowered the latch and rotated the pivot bracket as much as the bolts would allow. Finally, I was able to at least get it latched when I swing it but the rod still hits the bottom of the latch, and I have to swing it with a bit of force for it to latch. In the end, I still think it's worth it. Hopefully the passenger side will align better.

It is a trade off. But I still love mine and use them every day.
Great video and explanation. The older F150 2009-2014 - was nicer for installation you could set the height lower. With the newer F150's apparently since the holes are already there you have no choice on the height. With a lower install you have more choices on tonneau covers

Is there a difference between the model years on the F150
@Eric Thomas the swing case are the same, just the brackets are different. I think 2015+ uses one type. And 2009-2014 uses another model #. Have to confirm on their website.

Ray, the case does block the light switch when closed. I litterly just went down to my truck to see. I can access the switch by swinging out the case. You do not need to remove the case to access the bed light switch. The bed light are particularly blocked by the cases but, as I just tried it.... there is still enough light from just the interior bed lights to light up the entire bed. Hope this answers your questions. Please let me know if you have any others. Always happy to help. Hi there.... Very informative video. Can you tell me how much light is able to escape around the swing cases from the OEM bed lights? I was initially going to get cases for both sides but I rely on the bed lights a lot and am worried that it will be too dark. I figure with only one side, it may still be workable. I look forward to your input. Thanks!
Hey Aaron, great question. If you get both the bed will be pretty dark. Is you get just one there should be ample light it the bed from the side that dosent had the case. But remember you can always swing the case open all to allow more light it. However you go, thanks for watching the video and I hope you enjoy the cases.... if you do order then. Hey Jeff.... do you mean the cleats that use the 4 holes where the Swing Case Locking Bracket goes? They mount over the Swing Case Bracket and have no interference with the case itself. If you mean the cleats that come from the factory at the 4-corners of the bed.... you leave them in as well.... no interference at all. Hope this answers your question.

The dont go pass the wheel wells
..so what ever the distance is between the wheel well the the distance between the boxes. I have not measured the distance.

I went with Line-X.
I've installed two of these so far on F250's, was running through your video for the 2020 F150 install because I am mounting a pair of them next week for a buddy. Suggestion to installers, even though the kit comes with lock washers, I used blue locktite on the threads for the bolts behind the tail light. if the bolts move at all, then you have to remove the tail lights to re-adjust the alignment again, if beyond what the striker plate range can adjust.
On the question about "why isn't it made of aluminum?" - weight. The box can only hold 75lbs, if the box was aluminum, it would weigh more, reducing the capacity. The hinges can only hold so much before the weight causes sag beyond the adjustable range of the striker. On my personal F250, I carry tools and 2 hitches in my driver's side and it takes a little lift to swing the case back into place with the weight being right at max (or just over) weight capacity.

No I completely think you're fine with a 5th wheel they tick in very nicely between the wheel well and the tailgate. The 5th wheel would have to touch the bed itself to interfere with the Box so I think you're fine
Hey Frank, great video! Not trying to be a smartass but why didn't you just turn the impact driver upside-down so it would reach the bolts?
Well that would of been a smarter way of doing it. Where were you that day???? LOL. Just make sure you flip the impact driver upside down when you install yours!!!!

Thanks alot for this tutorial video. But when i cheched most of the suppliers at Amazon they dont supply it with pivot lock.the bracket which lunched to the cause didn't have hole for pivot lock
Mine came with the pivot lock that uses the same keys as the locking case top. What make and model truck are you looking to get it for?
In my opinion...and you know what they say about opinions....the swing case has the lid on the wrong side. I don't want to have to open the tailgate, remove the padlock, and swing the case back just to be able to get into it. So...I reversed my lid. The hinges are just plastic and just pressed into a snap fitting. I took a big flat bladed screwdriver and unsnapped them, turned the lid the other way and then with a block of wood, tapped with a hammer and reseated them on the opposite side. Same with the latch. Now I can open the lid while standing beside the truck without having to open the tailgate. To me this should have been a no brainer when it was built.

I also had alignment issues with driver side and was not able to lock my cover , box interferes locking handles
I installed one in my 2020, but when I purchased it, I wasn't thinking about how my tonneau cover latches under the bed rails. I had to latch the tonneau cover and then slam the box pretty hard hoping that I don't break the latch since it's behind the box..
Good to know.... my tonneau cover is flush with the bed and dosent interfere. But I'm sure other reading this will find this info very useful, thanks for posting.

I'm needing to know if they will install over a ford duraliner. I don't see any photo's of them with a duraliner .
I haven't seen and pics or video with the lines as well. But I would say yea it will work as long as the lined has cut outs for the swing case mounting points. I say get o e and try, you can always return it.... its Amazon!
Hey Frank, You are the only one to mention the "pivot lock" so that you can secure it and still swing it out at the same time. Does this come with each case or do you have to buy it separately?

Does the box on the drivers side interfere wolith the light switch or the lower lie downs?
You can easily get to the light switch without removing the box. Unfortunately, to use the lower tie-down the box will need to be removed.

Will the two keys be different if I run two swing cases?
No.... The Swing Cases are number matched right and left ..... so the one key will work both sides..... I have 2 in my truck and all the keys match and work either case..... Great Question though!!!
Any tips if you have the bed carpeted ? Sides to.
I wouldn't think you would have any issued with the carpeted floor at all.. as for the side of the bed as long as you still have access to the mounting locations through the carpet, i think it would still mount fine... but that is still my best guess.
Can you still fit a sheet of plywood in the bed?
Yes that cases barely go past the wheel wells. ... and there is still 1-2 inches under them if they do on your make and model truck. Will this fit a 2021 ford f150 with factory tri fold cover?
I can't answer that as I don't have a 2021. But it does fit under my tri fold in my 2020... so I would assume also would on the 2021
For all of you future installers that don't have an extension either, run the screws in without the bracket to first cut the threads. Now you can install the bracket with hand tools because the threads have been cut. Your welcome.

Do these install like this on the 21 f150
I'm not 100% sure if the bed configuration is the same between the 2020 and the 2021. I think it is, and I think these would work but please do your research. I dont want to steer you in the wrong direction.
Do you lose tie downs in those corners? I have a dirtbike and go crisscross.
Yes the cases do block the factory tie downs in the corners, unless you remove the boxes when you carry the bike in the back... but that kinda defeats the purpose. I have "Bull Rings" on the bed ledge that I use to tie stuff down in the back... not sure if that helps you out at all.

I don't thing so. Maybe with a folding or collapsible stock. My AR-10 will not.
How do you change the direction the lid opens?
I'm pretty sure you can't, they open the way they open.
Is it just the Ford that requires the lights removed?
Not sure, have never installed them on another make or model.

I would agree but under a bed cover, nobody knows its even there.
Why not just bungee cord a large plastic storage container in the bed? 🤔 not to downplay the terrific design it’s definitely a slick product
Jared - I have done that for over a year. The storage bin/bungee works great until it is in the way of other cargo. I am constantly moving it in and out of the truck bed to the cab (or leaving it in the garage) because it is in the main area of the bed. The swing cases take up otherwise wasted space and are well worth the $$$. Great video, btw!!!!!

I agree, that's why they swing out over the lowered tailgate towards you...so you don't have to reach over and hurt your back. Smart Idea!
It’s a SWING case. You pull the yellow lever and the box swings out to you.

This seems to be some kind of weird epidemic on you tube where people comment and ask questions that are clearly obvious because they skip ahead and fast forward through videos or choose not to use common sense.
Don't buy. Both broke. Plastic rod guides for steel rods that lock into steel latches. Plastic doesn't hold up. Plastic hinges.
Have had mine for over a year with firewood stacked and banging against them.... have not cracked and the hinges and rod guides are fine. Just regular maintenance like WD40 on the hinges and friction points and they will be fine.

@@corykroeger2231 I have had no issues at all.... I have both the driver and passenger side cases and both are completely filled. No crackin or , leaking . I love them.
