Audie Murphy's Song

  • Memorial song for Maj. Audie Murphy, the most decorated soldier in WWII. I wrote this song in 1972 in the BOQ at Ft. Knox one year after Audie passed. That was not a popular time for the military and the general public hardly noticed his passing.
The recording was an acetate demo of the song I made later that year in Hollywood. It was recorded in one take with no editing and no effects but a little reverb.
I dedicate this song to all who have given their lives in defense of our unique American Liberty.
    May God Bless Them All!

I am ever so grateful that you posted this beautiful touching song, "Audie Murphy's Song "....
I just stumbled across it and it has brought me to tears, I miss Audie so deeply still....
Audie was my larger than life true hero and the day he passed rocked and shocked me to my very core...
I still admire, respect, love and honour Major Audie Leon Murphy to this very day for he is the greatest
American real life hero that graced the earth in modern times.... Such a humble man all his life, a giant of a man....
He placed his own life on the line to protect his own men as an eighteen year old in WWll holding his
ground, standing upon a burning US Tank Destroyer and not letting the enemy gain an inch of ground....
For this he was bestowed the greatest honour of them all that America could give, The Medal of Honour, 33 medals in total...
Few men go down in history for their great deeds to country, Major Audie Leon Murphy is indeed one of those such men
to remain in the history books for generations to come after him, always to be respected and remembered....
I feel such gratitude for Audie's sacrifice of those few short years in his life to fight for what he believed was
his humble duty to country, Army service, although those years were to torment him for the rest of his life...
My humble prayer is that Audie Leon Murphy, REST IN ETERNAL PEACE KNOWING HE PLAYED HIS PART IN LIFE
FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM FOR HIS COUNTRY AND THE REST OF THE FREE WORLD.... LOVED, MISSED REMEMBERED STILL.

I read about the plane crash and his passing in the newspaper. At the time I really only knew him as a actor and really like him in that capacity , I didn't have any idea of what a hero he was. But I decided I wanted to find out more about him. I was astounded at what I found out and how he was our most decorated hero of WW2 and how he displayed such monumental courage at such a young age in such a horrific war, of his humble beginnings and how he took care of his family, how loyal he was to them, his country, his friends. And that he was also a songwriter. He was an amazing humble man, and I so wish I could have met him, if only for a few minutes.

I'm heartbroken with what I'm seeing as well. I watched a video by Schwarzenegger this morning that broke my heart because he was literally comparing the capitol breach with Crystal Nacht in Germany and equating Trump with Hitler. It is like reading 1984. Those who control the narrative rewrite history as they will. It is in God's hands now.

The month of June a month that our government has made special to us all it’s gay pride month 80 years ago this month on the beaches of Normandy France 16 1718 summoner 20s even older men who lied to enlist and lied to enlist on the beaches of Normandy The month of June the month of June I say it three times the month of June every day this month every day this month a young American name should be drawn from a hat that it can show by their past military records that they died in combat or for reasons related to combat And each day we should pull a name out of that hat to remember that 80 years ago this month thousand upon thousands of young boys and girls and the all as well their name should be red where they may have passed and possibly under what conditions each day for the month of June a new name will be pulled from the hat, but let’s stop right there at our pride parade. Look at the hats they’re wearing I would say clothes because most of them are wearing any and when you say something like I’m just said to a young person in this country, they give you back a blank stare they have no idea what you’re talking about. We don’t teach our young pride and honor that each one of these days and this month of June that were showing so much pride oh excuse me that piece of paper you just stepped on during your pride parade, I picked it up. It’s a small article that had been born across the street by the winds of time and on was a name of a 17 year-old American who died on the beaches of Normandy but that’s all right. I’ll just wind it up and throw it over here in the trash, or you go parading along showing your pride God save this nation
