Glad I found this. As a contractor who has only worked on Air Force bases, their times and procedures are different. Now I know what to do when I arrive here.
at Bragg and if you're in uniform your ass better exit that POV. Civilians, lol okay you go ahead and try to tell them anything but don't get caught uniformed not doing it.
I grew up on Army bases. I do remember cars stopping. It was never a problem. I recall that girl scout and boy scout troops were invited to attend retreating the color ceremonies. Attending wzs considered to be a great honor. We wore our uniforms, and brought our troop flags. When the American post flag was lowered, we dipped our flags to pay respect. I still value the times during the day when we honored the flag, and those who sacrificed their all for the flag and their country. Still think that slowing down, and stopping to pay respect is a valuable thing to do.
I would keep time on my watch and wait for the bugle...I was proud of it and would autmatically pull over and salute the flag...of course the Democrats would try to hide...They created the KKK...they never liked old glory...to this day
Small change in the regulations: Retirees retain the privilege of the salute. It is also my understanding that soldiers in civilian clothing may also render the hand salute. To my knowledge, this has not been changed. "The National Defense Authorization Act of 2008 contained an amendment to allow un-uniformed servicemembers, military retirees, and veterans to render a hand salute during the hoisting, lowering, or passing of the U.S. flag"
I went thru OSUT at Ft Knox...this brings back so many memories and a few tears. I remember when we had respect for Old Glory...We all did the same in West Germany also...this process follows you even into my '60s...Always respect for the colors, their meaning and why we do it. It kills me to see the infiltration of communism and fascism instructed in Schools across the country and burning of Old Glory in the streets...They know not what they do.
My understanding is that now, soldiers in civilian clothes, and veterans in civilian clothes have the option of either placing the hand over the heart, or rendering a military salute.
This needs to be taught in our schools! I had a neighbor that started doing this at his house over a loud speaker! I loved is and really looked forward to it. Unfortunately it stopped after two weeks probably due to a neighbor complaint. I wanted to take the neighbor out to dinner!
In the army in 1981, I tried to run across a large quad in pouring rain. I assumed everyone crowded at the door were there because they didn't want to brave the rain. Little did I know, it was a few seconds to Retreat. I got caught out in the open and stopped to show my respect, getting the shower of my life in the process, lol.
Colors is sacred. Honoring Freedom and the sacrifice of life. First thing in the morning and when the day is done. A tradition that extends back for centuries. Everyone is involved with colors if under open skies. Moving vehicles are suppose to pull over if they figure out its happening. Thats how i remember it in the Navy. Any base, any ship.
According to recently enacted law, all Veterans and active duty military personnel who are wearing civilian clothing have the option of either placing the right hand over the heart, or using a military salute to rend honors to the flag or as part of a memorial or funeral service. I believe this was enacted by Congress and signed into law during the Bush administration.
I work sometimes near an Air Force Base. Hearing them off in the distance playing reveille every morning, at 0804, kills me….. Not 0600 like we did in the Army, not at 0800, 0804…….
If you are in a semi, whether with or without a trailer, stop, unless you are backing to connect the trailer to the truck. And face the flag or the direction of the music.
A new law now gives military personnel in civilian clothes and veterans the option to render a hand salute if they're covered. This was passed in the National Defense Authorization Act of 2008, and was signed by President Bush.
Glad the Air Force requires you to stay in your car. No way I'm hoping out of my car in low light to stand in the street hoping the other idiots around me stop and don't run me over. Never understood how the Army thought getting out of your car and standing in the road was a good/safe idea.
At Maxwell AFB in Alabama, they play Retreat and the National Anthem at 1700. I can't speak as to Reveille at 0630 because I am never there at that time.
Taps is used to play to signal to personnel for "lights out" or that it is safe to go to sleep and that there are other members posted to guard while you sleep. You can think that one reason TAPs is played for funeral is because it is signaling to the deceased service member that it is safe for him/her to be layed to rest as a symbolic gesture and that we who remain on Earth shall keep guard and that you no longer need to worry about anything else.
Reveille: "I can't get 'em up, I can't get 'em up, I can't get 'em up this morning! I can't get 'em up, I can't get 'em up, I can't get 'em up at all! The Corp'rals worse than Privates, the Sergeants worse than Corp'rals, Lieutenants worse than Sergeants, the Captains worst of all! I can't get 'em up, I can't get 'em up, I can't get 'em up this morning! I can't get 'em up, I can't get 'em up, I can't get 'em up at all!"
I won't ever not placebmy hand in salute of our country, or render my hand over my heart for the spilled blood and sacrifices our family have shed for our nation. Maybe things suck, but it still our nation.
the same thing as the troops in uniform, 2 finger salutes for cub scouts 3 for boy scouts and whichever the girl scouts and other scouting organizations use, when not in uniform (ie when not at a scouting event), one can do the same as the uninformed troops or as a civilian, the only other proper salute in scouting is doing the finger salute over one's heart, this is when a pledge occurs, and never when a roll call takes place, any scouts that aren't in uniform at a scouting roll call is seen as a disgraceful scout as they are dishonoring the roll call and their fellow troop. The Boy scouts are practically military minors, and most troops do calls while starting/ending scout meetings, and during camping as well.
There is absolutely nothing funny about this video, when you serve this country all people whether they are a service man or woman, spouse or military child must obey and must pay complete and total respect to our flag, if you don't you disrespect our country and our troops!
can you bow your head solemnly towards the flag to acknowledge the flag as a foreigner (Non citizen)? hope i don't piss anybody off with this question...
Sander Vdl absolutely. You should remove your hat if you're wearing one, but generally being respectful is all that is asked of foreigners. No need to put your hand over your heart or even bow your head if you do not wish.
Stand attention & Salute for Reveillie? Never did that!!! Not in the Fleet!! Attention and Salute are for "To The Colours" and for "Retreat". Oh and you don't exit the vehicle, just come to a full stop.
And explain to me why those muslim all dressed in black attire from head to toe with only eyeballs showing just walks on by at any celebration. ? explain that.
1: those were probably Muslim women and what they were wearing are is either a a Burqua or Niqab depending on the country they're from and traditions thereof 2. Muslims in general have very strict traditions against graven images/idolatry. The general idea if I'm understanding it correctly, is if it doesn't praise God or the prophet Muhammad and even then in certain ways that doesn't go into the realm of idolatry, they want nothing to do with it. No, I'm not Muslim but I know a lot of people who are and ask a lot of questions

HIGHMAN. nnj exactly! Jayden White I'm the spouse of a retired vet, he fought for my right to run my mouth. The very very bad acting is hilarious, I'm just glad they didn't catch me walking inside when reverie sounds, because thats what happens.
Glad I found this. As a contractor who has only worked on Air Force bases, their times and procedures are different. Now I know what to do when I arrive here.
I’m Irish but anyway thanks for your service
At Grissom ARB the times are 08:00 & 17:00
I don't remember anyone stopping their vehicles. That would have caused a major problem. I do remember people hurrying to get inside buildings though.
My brother was stationed at Ft. Knox in the early 90’s and every vehicle stopped and either saluted or put their hand on their chest
at Bragg and if you're in uniform your ass better exit that POV. Civilians, lol okay you go ahead and try to tell them anything but don't get caught uniformed not doing it.

Respect and a salute from Germany.

You beat me to it, thank you. Many still don't know that.
I still render hand salute in civvies - hard to break that habit lol
Wasn't even looking for fort knox lol. Dad worked at fort knox for atleast 20yrs. Remember hearing this everytime I went on post. Good memories

We were stationed at Ft. Knox when my father was a Captain. Lived there when Goldfinger was being filmed.
I lived there when it was being filmed also. :)
My former Army post. I remember doing these things when I was stationed there.
My understanding is that now, soldiers in civilian clothes, and veterans in civilian clothes have the option of either placing the hand over the heart, or rendering a military salute.
ersikillian it’s a long known tradition to put your hand over your heart if you’re in civvies
I'll do whatever the fuck I want.
That came into effect in 2008 with the passing of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2008, which was signed into law by President Bush.
Outstanding Instructional Video. Thank You. v/r (RET. US NAVY ).

Tom Borcich I'm thinking of doing the same the as I live in a rural area.
@@potsandpans960 My neighbor stopped for a few month but started back up last week. I love it!
Why?
I was confused a little when I went to Fort McClellan, but now it’s totally clear! Thanks!
Wow, long time since I got out. Thank you for this video.
And the Fallen OR missed in action of surviving veterans who sacrificed and waged their lives in danger or combat shall never be forgotten amen

My Father attended the Armor Course at Fort Knox as a young officer.
Australia could use this kind of recognition of our flag and those who fought under it. Thanl you for your service.
Complimenti dall'Italia!
Reveille signals the start of the official day and raising the colors. Frist Call awakes the troops.

Those in civil clothing also remove hats/cover as well

Texman81, Going to parade rest before "To the Colors" is when you are in a formation.
As soon as I heard it, looking for the door and Yeet!
If you are in a semi, whether with or without a trailer, stop, unless you are backing to connect the trailer to the truck. And face the flag or the direction of the music.
Yeah, it's important.
I'll never for that time the MP's made me push when I blew past the retreat 😅😅
I didn't hear it!
Nice
I never knew a civie is suppose to stop 4 reveille & retreat!

That's cause the AF tries to break the sound barrier.
are bugle calls only on army bases because I haven't heard a single call on kadena ab but I have heard taps played at 2200 for some reason
Taps are usually played at the end of the day. They were originally used as “lights out/ go to sleep”. Yes bugle calls are traditional Army calls.
Army posts. The Air Force has bases. Technical yes, but correct.

Why you scared? Suit yourself who cares if you only care of yourself.
What about boy/girl scouts in uniform
the same thing as the troops in uniform, 2 finger salutes for cub scouts 3 for boy scouts and whichever the girl scouts and other scouting organizations use, when not in uniform (ie when not at a scouting event), one can do the same as the uninformed troops or as a civilian, the only other proper salute in scouting is doing the finger salute over one's heart, this is when a pledge occurs, and never when a roll call takes place, any scouts that aren't in uniform at a scouting roll call is seen as a disgraceful scout as they are dishonoring the roll call and their fellow troop. Jacob Moore As a Boy Scout I can confirm this
I didn't know that they "force" people to get out of their cars.
Every air force base I was stationed at required Vehicles to stop.
1:30 "And patriotic civilians" 😂😂
omgg i literally lived there😭
He wasn’t even playing the trumpet
its a bugle, not trumpet?
He was playing the trumpet. It's open valves for all the bugle calls. A bugle doesn't have any valves so it can play only so many notes.
Alright, and everybody else sneak into the bunker and steal the gold reserves 👌

the first thing they should do is take off those fucking sunglasses
nilloc93 They don’t have to, there not “Head Gear”
They disrespectfully failed to render a proper salute sunglasses should never be worn when saluting the flag.
I know the rules
