that's so smart and simple
Brilliant!
Great tip!
At 61, “cute” is not what I’m striving for. I am an admitted makeup junkie, especially eyeshadow palettes. I’m looking for youthful. I know that I’m not in my 20’s, 30’s or even 40’s anymore. I know that I don’t like the “dewy” look, to me it just looks oily. I really appreciate this new (for me) technique of applying my blush. Thank you.
This may be my favorite iteration of Alex's brows.
Yesss, I also noticed how excellent they are looking today! Such a beautiful, natural look and tint.
I love the look too! Hope she makes a routine soon
Right? They look amazing. I only have half brows but the way her brows look is exactly what I try for when I fill mine in/draw hair strokes.
Brows be browin'
Favorite natural look generally of all time! She’s stunning wearing white too
I always appreciate side-by-sides because they get my brain thinking about new looks! Could be fun to see a series where you recreate your own version of looks from old make-up ads. I'd also be interested in a nostalgic look back at makeup that's gone that you miss.
The whole color palette of this video just rocks. The white shirt with your hair and the background with your complexion and lipgloss looks great.
I *love* the hair colour.
I have a thin face, and my cheeks have gotten flatter as I've aged, so I started bringing blush onto the center of my cheeks to add some roundness. Every face shape is different, glad you really make sure people know that!
Me too! I feel you!
Highlighter on the rounds of the cheeks can do that too!
I have this I put it on the center of my face and on the tip of my nose and use highlighter on the edged of cheekbones to pop them out more so I get a bit rounder face.
It makes me so happy to know I’m not the only one who’s trying to make their face look rounder. 99.9% of makeup advice is for people who want the opposite!
I’ve learned this “cute effect”, placing blush on the apples of my cheeks. I’m 56, and I’ve never, ever, never, NEVER, done this before. I’ve always placed mine higher up on my cheek bone. I very recently began using a new blush that I was introduced to because my 19 year old niece was wearing it and her cheeks just looked so pretty. We have the same skin tone, so I knew it would look the same with my coloring. I asked her what she was wearing, and immediately purchased some for myself.
With my new blush I decided to mix it up a little bit and change the placement.
I knocked my husbands socks off 😊, and I’ve had so many other compliments from people not actually sure what it is I’ve changed 😉.
I think it’s taken about 5 years off my face, my husband said I look like I did when we first met 27 years ago…but he’s been known to tell a tale or two.
My favorite comment!
@@ya_boi_chrish ☺️
i’m confused then what’s the new placement that you got compliments on and that your husband loved the high one or the one in the middle of your cheek aka the “cute” one?
@@inteliguana1741 The “apple” of my cheeks, as Alexandra mentioned.
I’ve placed my blush up high on my cheekbone my entire life. I’ve only just begun to place it lower. It really does make you look a little younger.
@@momof3chis291 A little lower like Alex suggests (towards the eye) of low like she says/shows does not suit her (but apparently does suit you!)?
What. Is. That. LIP COLOR??? 😍
Seriously 😮
My question exactly! Lip color?? 💋
Your lipstick is such a beautiful color! 😍 I have a very round face, so I have been placing my blush up high for quite a long time now. It has made a HUGE difference in adding structure and a healthy color to my face, especially around my eyes where my dark circles cast a lot of dead grey shadows.
yes i’d love to know what that lipstick is
@@kerri-annereyes8696 me too!

I need to know!
I love how you don't come into the video guns blazzin' like so many youtubers out here. Instead you're so freaking chill and have a nice way of explaining to where I listen to the video in its entirety without wanting to skip thru. Don't ever change. Awesome tips, btw! 🎉❤
This lip color is amazing! Please share the details ❤
Its so beautiful !!!!!!!! Pls pls pls I need to know
I have similar cheekbones, and this is how I wear my blush! The undereye blush is common in Douyin makeup, and I'll usually take a touch over the very top of my nose bridge as well, instead of across the middle. Almost invisible, but adds a hint of that cuteness 😀
I wear mine high as well and I do the same thing--just a little dusting across the high bridge of the nose. I love the way it looks.
Same
Was coming here to say this been doing this since before it got popular in the states it really changes the face
@@mediocrebankai i mean this used to be the standard application in the 70s in the US so idk
The lip shade is so pretty!! 💌
You literally could not explain yourself any better. You're a genius at making things understandable. And your skin is like glass 🤗
I really like your lipstick in this video!
Alex please, I HAVE to know what you have on your lips in this video ;_; its the most gorgeous natural flush I have ever seen
I love how you advocate for customizing to our unique faces! I have a cheek shape like yours and absolutely agree a high blush placement is IT. For those w rounder cheeks, that application to the apples of the cheek is SO CUTE
I 100% agree about customizing for YOUR face. It drives me nuts seeing RUclipsrs with short foreheads (like mine) putting a ton of contour and bronzer on the top of their face because that’s what everyone else does. No babe, that’s not for you! You’re just making your forehead shorter! What’s interesting here is that not only does the “wrong” side bring attention to your smile line, it also makes your eye on that side look droopy. Which I’ve NEVER thought about your eyes before EVER. It’s amazing that such a small change can make such a big difference. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and explaining it so well Alex!
I absolutely and always love your discussions about Tools and placement! They make such a huge difference as you could obviously see in this video!Thank you so Much. Great content!
The side by side matte vs cream would be great. I would love to see a video about powder, although I know you use very minimal powder Alex! But I get overwhelmed with when, where and why different powders should be used. Loose powder, setting powder, finishing powder, pressed powder, translucent powder, colored powder, so many freakin powders! 😳😳😳 I’ve even seen people using powder foundation to set their under eyes. It’s too much! I’m confused 😂😂😂
sparklestarkle: A professional makeup artist will use both on the same face. To keep oily areas from looking sweaty and to tame them. To reflect light where the cream is. When in doubt, less is more. The cosmetic industry wants you to spend money. Look up "makeup artist" and search their videos.
Lol, I get it but it shouldn't be. Pressed powder can work well to set. I don't do loose powder because I know I won't use it up and it can be messy. 😂 I use a pressed powder lighter than my skin tone to set my under eyes and one that's close to my skin tone (maybe a bit darker) to set/slightly bronze my face. You really don't have to use all type of powders. Know what's best for you and your skin type.
@@nancykerrigan That’s what I’m trying to figure out! What is best for me and my skin type
@@sparklestarkle If you're older, cream is ideal in general. If you're younger and oily, powder is great. If you're in between, then use powder on oily areas and powder in others. You have to experiment and figure out what works for you.
I honestly just use banana powder for everything and call it a day, works for me lol
What is on your lips!!! So beautiful
Love this so much!!! Would love to see a matte/dewy side by side face. I would also love to see a video dedicated to enhancing lips.. I have pretty small/thin lips and would love tips for enhancing 😊
Alex please, I need to know what your're wearing on your lips!!!!! It's GORGEOUS!!!!!
I love the idea of comparing cream products to powder products; please do it.
I agree👍
actually, the right side of your face ( the lower-placement side ) added lots more fullness to your cheek which you seem to said you seem to be lacking. since you already have high cheekbones, the higher placement tends to pull your face back ( not in so much a flattering way ) and make you look similarly to a bird with small, pulled back features, and a large nose which seems to be the big focus when you put blush higher up. i would say definitely retry blush like on your right side, i personally think it looks super flattering on you. i put my blush higher up on my face because i have very big apples of my cheeks and having a round face means i need to pull back the sides of my face to make them look narrower. you have a much more angular face shape which can be enhanced by adding fullness to the center of the face.
I just love how you blend art and anatomy. These side-by-sides are great.
I’m obsessed with your lipstick but it’s not in the notes :( It looks so good on you.
You’re so great at explaining *why* you do things. It clicks for me like, “Aaaaah now I get it.”😘🙏💖
I've learned so much about product placement from you! It has totally made all the difference in how I apply makeup ☺️💕
😮Alex I desperately need to know what lip color you are wearing girl it is absolutely the most amazing color
Love the color of the lips!😍 Is it a lip oil?
I have the same cheekbones. What you say is especially true once older. I've even had to pretty much stop contouring because it's become too easy to really make my cheeks look hollow and boy do the smile lines take center stage then.
Also, I think this is my favorite of your lip looks. Can you please share what you're wearing? I'm forever trying to find that exact color and sheerness. Your entire look today is my go to preference, so I'd love to see a video for this look. Thank you for sharing. You look fabulous!🦋
YES, her lip look is FANTASTIC. I don't even know how to describe the color.
Could you tell me where does come your lipstick pleaaase ??? 😍
Love your videos ! Love the way you explain everything, love your voice, kind of love you entirely actually 😅
Thank you for showing how to make the high blush placement cute. I've been placing my blush high because I need to and it works for me, but have been missing the cuteness! You're the best!
I always do that- placing blush up higher my cheekbone because it compliments my face. My face shape is round. It also gives an edge to my round face.
alex please tell us whats on your lips and eyebrows im begging you!
I have dark, sunken under eyes and the high blush placement has been an absolute win for me. I can get away with a lot more blush while still looking glam and it doesn’t enhance my under eyes.
Your side-by-side comparison videos are always so enlightening. Thank you for sharing all your makeup wisdom🤍
You are so relaxing to listen too. I love how you explain things and cover everyone’s issues! 🙌
Have you already told us what this lip is?! 👀 because I NEED TO KNOW
Forgive me if I missed this, but what lip product are you wearing?? I’m in love with that color and the glow!
i just wanna know what on your lips!
Love your content❤ what are you wearing on your lips? it looks stunning

Ok but what’s on your lips?! 😊❤ I loved this video! So informative.
WHAT is this wonderful lip combo you are wearing????
i was literally just noticing this about a look i tried last week, i have really high cheekbones as well but i wanted to try a more “fresh-faced” look and it just ended up making me feel haggard all day instead, it totally cratered my mood. you’re an absolute godsend fr, i’m gonna try this next time!!

I held my hand over each side to see the difference more on you and it was amazing. The higher up emphasizes your eyes more, too. I'm going to force myself not to go so low and see what happens. I'm over 60 so there's no need to emphasize those frown lines more. Thanks.
Alex, what lip products are you wearing in this video?
Insane how much of a difference this makes! Switching up how I hold my brush, thanks for the tip!
I would love to see your version of e-girl makeup (suited to your faceshape, of course)!
This is absolutely fascinating. The side by side is so helpful! LOVE the blush placement you’ve come up with!
How you did it on the lifted side under the eye is exactly how I’ve been doing my blush for a while and I love it!
This video made me realize your face shape is very similar to mine!! Gonna check out how you contour now as I've never figured out natural looking contour before. Thank you as always for your insights and for giving us tools to figure out what works for us, rather than prescribe one "correct" look/technique!
After 20+ years of wearing making I am *just now* starting to dabble in blush and I’m loving it!! Thank you for the video Alex! ❤️❤️
your makeup tips have changed my life!! thank you for all of your knowledge & actually explaining the why behind things!! it's so helpful 😭💕
This was a great tip! As someone who shares the similar kind of face shape I found this extremely helpful. You should do the half dewy/half matte face but make it snatchural lol. I would love to see how you would sculpt the eyes using creams/ dewy formulas because I need this information.
This is literally the greatest placement. I have ever done it for my blush. And it came just in time for family photos today! I have felt like cheeks or extra big or getting dragged down, and exactly how she mentioned that the smile lines were emphasized, but once placing the blush like this, all those problems disappear!
I loved the check bone, but not under the eye too much, your beautiful no matter how you do it, but close to the eye, closes the high cheek bone
Omg I’ve been doing this technique lately tooo! High blush and bringing it into the under eye! I’ve been loving it it gives me modern 80’s vibes 😍 🎉
I love the blush under my eyes and on my high cheek bone. Gives me such a youthful/cute look!! Really compliments my chubby cheeks. One time a hospital nurse asked me if I was a minor(I'm 26 lol)
I love your shiny ,glowing, beautiful radiant skin
Just a video idea: maybe a whole video with other placements that can age the face.
I don’t want to argue with you Alex but I think both blush styles look great on you!!!! 🤩
The high blush does make you look like you’re smiling!
❤
Please.... What lipstick are you wearing??? It's amazing ❤
Alex, what are you wearing on the lips? Looks gorgeous!
Good point reg the placement of the blush. I have tried bring it under my eyes, but at least for me it s not looking good :)
Yes those lips are 🔥!

This is exactly the tutorial I needed. As my face has aged and lost fat, my blush has looked worse and worse. Can’t wait to try!
What lip color are you wearing in this video?
EEEEEE!!!! I love the minimalist makeup with the bright lips! My fave!!!❤ Blush to the corner of the eye...huh! I can't wait to try it!
This is EXACTLY how I apply my blush! From the apples of my cheek up to the temples! Besides eye makeup, I'd say blush is prob my favorite product to apply because I can literally watch it turn me from tired and blah looking to bright and youthful in a matter of seconds! The other day when you uploaded your video with the About-face lilac blush was EVERYTHING! Blush is a VERY powerful product. When used incorrectly, it can be horrifying, but when used correctly, it's what will pull your entire base together! ❤
I have the same cheek structure and this has been my favourite blusher technique for the past 2 years I couldn't explain why I liked it more I just knew it looked better and made me glow
Hi Alex,
First off, you look amazing👀 Demonstrating the two techniques side by side is so helpful. Cool colors really accent your skin’s undertone beautifully. Can you link the lip products? xx❤️
I love how the left side looks so much! Thank you for actually showing an alternative blush placement for people who still want a cute/youthful blush look but find the right side’s placement unflattering. I’ve seen it explained many times that it drags the face down and that’s great info to have, but it can make you feel like you can only do your blush a certain, more sculpted way.
As someone with similar features to yours, this is very helpful! I've already been doing a version of this after experimentation about what looks best on me, but now I can be more intentional about it.
I used to never wear blush because I never understood how to make it look good on me. It wasn't until I saw you placing it on your upper cheekbones a couple years ago that it clicked. I had a similar experience with eyeshadow, as someone with slightly hooded eyes like yours. You taught me how to do both.
Once I figured out that I should be taking inspiration from people with similar face shapes to myself, I started looking at how celebrities with similar features to mine did theirs. I've learned that Audrey Hepburn's makeup looks good on me too.
Thanks for the free and wonderful content! You've allowed me to express myself artistically through makeup, which I've learned I love to do!
I love this so much! Thank you so much! I’ve totally been on autopilot too lately!
Yes! This is so so helpful. I have a similar cheek situation, and when I would do the "cold" look with blush, I couldn't blend it across my face because it would weigh down my face. Seeing the side by side made it so obvious why that wasn't quite working. Your the best, Alex!😊
if you have a oval to long face shape try blush on just under the eyes and across nose bridge. (dont bring it towards the temples or the apples of cheeks) looks great!
Finally, someone explained this to me, I tried so many times and since I have a similar face shape to yours it makes so much sense.
I agree - I’m old - and I don’t like it either on me - but I live the blush near the eyes and how you’ve done it / please please do bronzer and highlight and how you had that on your face to start this video xx
This is blowing my MIND
I noticed the exact same thing when doing blush!! 👀👀 And I also started to bring the blush close to my eyes (I have blue eyes, so it really complements my eyes too)
This is a great tip, it works so well on me!
Soooo great! Yes I never think about blush or even wear it. Will try this…
I love that you mentioned your cheekbones and not the shape of your face as a reference. I high cheekbones as well, very similar to you actually lol, but the rest of my face is completely different (I'm more oval I guess?? idk I have a hard time figuring out ahah), so if you were to mention the overall shape that would be more confusing but now that I know what to look at specifically, I know I can at least try this out and see if it can be a good match for me. Thanks again for always being so informative, I love your videos and I always learn something new!
PS: All I see tho is that pretty cherry lips girl don't gatekeep I love how juicy your lips look 🥹 perfect match for the cute vibe of the blush!
Yup, I forget too. Love the blush colors that you’ve used. Thanks for the demo; so very helpful.
LOVE this whole base (brows, lips, and skin)!! need a video for it 😍😍
I think this is the life-changing moment I have been waiting for 😅
What is this lip colour? It's gorgeous 😊
OMG. THANK YOU FOR THE SIDE BY SIDE AND REMINDER. YES CAPS IS APPROPRIATE. I NEEDED THIS!!!! I was noticing something g was off lately and getting frustrated. I think I switched when I saw a video stating that the high blush method didn't operate the same on us middle age folks.
I don’t even wear blush but I’m enjoying this video ✨ your videos are always the best!! Also I NEED that lip combo, does anyone know what it is?!
You’re an amazing teacher, thank you!! I also have high cheekbones and am always confused where I should put blush 🤪
I am obsessed with that lip color! What is it!? Also thank you for this video is always great to hear your insights!
This is sooo helpful! It totally saved me! Thank you ❤
I still like the "bad" side.. I feel like the "good one" is very clean and mature, that's just not how you would naturally blush IMO!
You're blush tip from that previous video changed the game for me and ever since I've been keeping it high. I am 37 with a slim face so putting blush on the apples of my cheek looks super pretend and draws the eyes down to my only wrinkles😂! Best skin makeup tip ever 😊
Brilliant!!!! I just tried it.....wow....always blushing this way from now on.
I have a very narrow face and I find doing blush the way everyone else trying to lift the face but I don’t really need that. I want my face to look wider if anything!
Wow thank you! I was wondering why I kept looking old fashioned in my
Makeup and going close to the eye made a huge difference ❤
So interesting. A while back Wayne Goss did a video on brush placement. I’m older and have a basically round face. He point was to put blush higher up to lift the face. With age my cheek bones look more prominent. My so called apple area is more flat. The first time I tried changing the placement, I was blown away. Higher placement totally lifts the face. 👍❤️
Nothing makes me feel more proud than when Alex shows a hack and it’s something I’ve already intuitively figured out myself 😎😇
I watch two (TWO!) makeup artists with the intent to learn. They are Lisa Eldridge and Alex.
You always have something great to say. Keep up the amazing work
