- This weeks episode is a real heart warmer. Bethan is an inspiring, hard working woman who was finding it difficult to get ahead in life. That was until she made the decision to build a tiny house and with that, began on her path to financial freedom.
Through living frugally in her home for the first two years, she was able to quickly pay off her debts. With her house now paid for, she has set her sights to saving for her own piece of land.
Bethan's home is beautiful and perfectly suited to her needs. With a love of travel and adventure, this home helps to give her an unprecedented level of personal freedom to follow her passions.
Visiting this home, I was quickly reminded of one of the reasons that I fell in love with tiny homes. The decision to build them, can genuinely be life changing.

I absolutely love this tiny home. I’m seriously considering living in a tiny house. This design would be perfect for me. I was wondering if Bethan would be willing to share her design.
a little tidbit you might want to know: In the US, a lot of older (and some new) trailers -- "manufactured" homes but still cheap - have vertical ribs where the wall panels meet. This little house has those ... "yuck." They really can make a place look cheap & I know other container homes have something akin to drywall so no seams/ribs. (just thought I'd mention it cuz I'll bet somebody else will notice one day) -- it's VERY nice on all other points.

Absolutely love this woman. She is funny, bubbly, and has the cutest giggle when she laughs. And she was so open and vulnerable too. It was emotional to see her cry those happy tears for what she's accomplished. Good for her. She's probably a wonderful friend too. And wow, what a result for $47KUSD. Pretty incredible.

I’ve watched many videos but this one has made up my mind!
I always love to see a tiny house with a ground floor bedroom. Everything was so spacious and well-designed, it didn’t feel like any compromises had been made in going tiny. And coming from South Wales myself, I loved her accent!
It is a beautiful home, but it's not really tiny. She says it's 10 x 3, which is 30 sq meters.
@@aimeem In my country (norway) 30 square meters are the legal max limit for what can be considered a tiny home when I checked. Tiny homes can be transported on the road, so thats probably why they need a clear limit for it

Thanks for filming Bethans home. There are many women who are living in precarious financial situations that could see them homeless and on the streets. I feel this story and what Bethan has done shows that there are real options for a lot of women to secure their futures long term and provide them with a proper home and financial stability. Thank you so much for this comment! It’s so true. Part of my journey is in 2020 I started working with the over 65s and so retirement was front and centre on my mind. I realised quickly that my generation will not be able to retire as we will still be paying rent (and those who managed to get on the housing ladder - mortgages). The stats are clear and the ministry of finance even did a report on it at the Auckland ageing conference last year! Us single women are in the toughest spots. Made worse by the gender pay gap 😢 Part of the reason I got so emotional was talking about this with Bryce and his amazing questions! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

In Australia local councils and planning laws have a long way to go, a shame when people are trying to find their own sensible solutions to the housing crisis, as I am. NZ seems so far ahead. I'd be interested in the report you mentioned if available to the public. All the best to you especially for finding that piece of land.
What a delightful young woman! It shouldn’t be this hard for,a person to get by. I’m a homeowner for 23 years and will be going tiny in two years to leave behind the constant upkeep and maintenance of my 2K sq ft home. It CONSUMES my life! Watching Bethen so very happy and satisfied with her home and what lies ahead. This was a wonderful story and lovely home
I started watching this channel around 2018 which inspired me to dream of a tiny home in a small farm, started saving more as much as I can. In the latter part of 2020, started communicating with a contractor for a 8 m x 8 m home design. In November 1, 2021, I slept in my home for the first time with just a bed, a dining table, a camping stove, a few plates and spoons, etc. It is still a work in progress but it is truly heartwarming to have a safe home for me and my pets.
Bryce, people open up to you because you listen; you express your gratitude for being invited into their homes and their stories. Rasa, your attention to the small things - a fun mug, Bethan journaling, a plant or photo or piece of art - add such depth to these videos. Bethan, especially, thank you so much for bringing us inside your warm and lovely home. Yay to first floor bedrooms and shoe closets 🥳

@@bethancollings2927 I am living in a 5 bedroom house and most of it is wasted. I don’t even use 75% at all. Most of my life is in the living room and the kitchen and one bathroom. To heat and cool the house or clean it is a waste of time and money. Small spaces are much more efficient and cost a lot less in upkeep and energy in moving from one room to the next. My large home is more a place to store stuff that I don’t use or need

Bethan is so genuinely delightful and authentic, couldn't help but share her emotion. Having watched all of your videos, she's a favorite. Appreciate that her tiny home may be bit smaller...as more and more larger structures are being featured...but it fully satisfies her needs, making it such a comfortable 'home' both physically and emotionally.

I've just seen a news article that this beautiful soul is having to move her home because the Auckland City Council now says she needs Resource Consent. They've only given her 30 days, until May 12, 2024. This is devastating and I wish we could do something for her. My heart goes out to Bethan.
Hiya absolutely right! Moving out next Friday 🥺 I’m working thru going self contained so under Auckland Council unitary plan I should be allowed as a self-contained vehicle on Private land 🤞🏼 it’s heartbreaking that exactly one year ago I was crying tears of joy with Bryce and now the council are making me out to be illegal because a neighbour complained 😢

Great, self-sufficient tiny home on a beautiful parking space! I really like the tiny homes that are actual savings. So many are getting more and more elaborate and expensive. What a nice lifestyle Bethan has created for herself!

Besides the home itself… the homeowner is a completely delightful person. Agreed! She's so beautiful and sweet. Her emotions are contagious. And yes, you must take nature into consideration. I'm planning my future, similar to Bethan, and I live in an earthquake-prone country, next to a volcano, in constant threat of forest fires. So... strong, but mobile?! No answers for cyclones though.

Hi Angela! Yes a few people said that to me when I was getting the loan “most people have car loans more expensive than your house” 😂 It’s amazing too that tiny houses don’t depreciate so fingers crossed if I ever do have to sell it’ll b ok ♥️♥️♥️

It is such a lovely and simple design, too, and rather perfect if you don't want a loft and want a tub and need some space for your clothes. I love having the washing machine in the kitchen too. It's almost impossible to do this in the UK, every time you create a postal address, which you need for all forms of ID, benefits, bank accounts etc, you are in the planning system. Our planning system is totally against this idea. There is ONE sustainable tiny house village planned, on the outskirts of Bristol, and it is literally like building a new housing estate, they have to go through months if not years in the planning system. It's the only one in the UK, and that's no surprise when you see all the obstacles.

I have no idea how these homeowners find such cool parking spaces. Perhaps there are more choices down under than Florida, USA. I would just end up in an RV park or perhaps a Tiny Home community, but it's not the same as a cool private spot. Not to mention commercial lot rent is super expensive. Love this house & this channel.
It’s really true what you say! I think in New Zealand we have a lot of space, but that’s changing as the population increases and rising sea levels means people will have to move away from the coast so watch this space! Literally 😂

Very happy for her! I really love the changes she chose to make. Love that she paid off the loan for $75k in only two years and now she owns it and is debt-free and able to use her savings to travel and live a life of security! So so happy for her and I hope she continues to enjoy a blessed life.

I love the bedroom on the main level - I'm also a person who wouldn't be good with stairs every evening, especially when I need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night! I've owned my own home in NY for 13 years, and I've not felt the joy that Bethan has felt living in hers for only 3 years! I know she said that until she owns the land she won't feel 'nested' and I get that. I hope one day to own a home that I feel truly is a part of me, as she feels her home is to her.
