The moment I saw you go for the battlin boxer/six sam pack right after mbt went for fiends/dark world, I thought this was gonna be a one sided wash, but you managed to make it a really close set. Good stuff!

That last duel was something right out of the show.

Windup Kitten did so much for Hardleg in that duel

Battlin' Boxers are seemed modeled after the 'counterpunch' style of boxing. More specifically the hot blooded anime boxing philosophy of "If you're punching me in the face, then you're not blocking the punch I'm throwing at YOUR face". It's why their Boss monsters are all about negating battle destruction and boosting themselves; they take the damage but don't go down and hit back harder on their turn. And all their counter traps literally have "Counter" in their name.
So them skipping their own Battle Phase and waiting for the opponent to come to them is actually EXTREMELY thematic, it's just the impractical kind of theming that explains why so anime decks only work within the logic of an anime.
@@alexandernelson3703 I'm reminded of the famous boxing anime which I can't recall its name right now, and... indeed there it was not really focused regular attack and block but on harsh training, counterattack, trading punches and hitting very hard with techniques, trying to get the KO at all cost.

This was a really fun one. Its got similarities to Master Duel Arena and Master Saga mixed together, but rhe way the draft encorporates a sense of progress between each game makes it a pretty unique form of draft. Hope to see this continue!

I've seen the water elemental lord be summoned a few times but I've never seen pyrorex be summoned

The Pyrorex saving Hardleg was such a good protagonist moment
He cheated; elemental lords don't let you conduct your battle phase when their effects are activated. He won because he broke the rules

Amazing last game, hardleg is somewhat of a midas, he touches a pile of junk and it just works
can't wait to see the series end abruptly after 5 episodes!
I was convinced MBT had the stronger deck, with the highest synergies, and powerful cards, and that hardleg didn't have a focused/solid enough plan.
Game 1, when I thought hardleg had his best shot, he lost.
Games 2, and 3, when I thought MBT was at his strongest, he lost.
This was super exciting to watch, like a whole adventure. Don't be discouraged by dumb comments.
IMO the format is good as it is; there's a lot of replayability, and the adaptation of the players is what makes it interesting.
This actually made me want to build a Six Sam deck, as well as Wind-Up, Infernity, and -lswarm ones.

These were not only really good games, but shockingly close. It feels like a lot of thought went into the balance for what cards get given to players in this, and I hope its this solid going forward

So, what I'm hearing is, Yugioh needs some sets to be released that is made to be purely drafted like it can in MTG.

Sure you get some turns of draw-pass, or draw-set-pass, but other times you get duels like in this video. I played back in the original anime days but came back for a bit during XYZ era so this format will always hold a special place in my heart. OG might be GOAT, but this was golden era to me.
Hard leg shows just how hard he can punch with battling boxer and some other cards.
