I find most of your videos interesting. I'm Australian and married to an Australian. We lived in Thailand for about a year and a half until ealier this year. As we had each other to talk to every day we always had a friend to discuss good and bad with. To me it's nearly impossible to imagine having a real life partner from such a totally different country who doesn't speak my language. I like having deep conversations as much as stupid ones. I think I'd find it very boring being married to a pretty face after the novelty wore off. Also the humour, I love having a joke, taking the mickey out of people and that's got to be really hard if you can't have a good gut busting laugh with each other. Good onya though I'm glad you're happy 😊

That's one of the big issues with Thai's who don't speak fluent English (not that the should have to) is that it's hard to fully communicate and that's what relationships are based on. I feel like for the relationship to survive you need to be able to understand each other 100%.

@@alphaomegadailyIt is worth saving a little as a “travel fund” and go outside of Thailand once in a while. You have Korea, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong etc all within a shortish flight time. It is expensive to do this but it will do wonders for you and your wife and more importantly for Harry as he grows up. In the same way as you have invested in his education now (Private school). We did this for our son and are glad we did it. Worth considering.

Hi Dave, As I told you before I was married to Thai lady for over 30 years with a age difference of 14 years a I think with any relationship between a man and women there are going to be difficulties but in our situation been married to Thai ladies and culture & language differences maybe I was very lucky that she live with me in Brisbane since we met and got married. She studied in University in Australia and she had to learn English very quickly because I could not speak Thai and it worked out very well thank God / Budda
I do understand your circumstances are different with living full time in Thailand and been surrounded by her family with no English. Your also very lucky to have your little fellow Harry you much be very proud. I’ll be back in Thailand in November can’t wait I love it as well. Keep up the great work Cheers Irish Paul

    Hi Dave.
Well, you poured your heart out .
With regard to the age gap of marrying a Thai
wife,IMO, it's more about her personality than age .
I don't know how you two found each other if the communication wasn't there .
I suspect you had other reasons ,like she has an income producing job or whatever.
The beginning of your relationship with her would have been interesting to reveal. In any case because of the culture Thai women are generally reluctant to go into deep topics,be it general or intimate.
And her lack of high standard English wouldn't allow that anyway.
It sounds like you're unfulfilled, maybe she is too.
Your partner is more RUclips than your wife, she maybe resenting that.

It can be very lonely in Thailand for foreigners. Easy to go pick up a bargirl but that alone won't satisfy your needs. Relationships are based on communication. Hard to be in one of you can't fully articulate your feelings etc. Humour is a big part of relationships for me and that's non existent with most Thai's (it just gets lost in translation).

Dave, I work in banking in Bangkok Thailand 8 months out of the year. I have many employees married to Thai women and they all complain about the same issue - Thai women do not share any real emotions with their husbands. It doesn’t matter if their husband is Thai or farang. They keep it inside until they cannot any longer then they blow up in anger over the smallest things. This is not because you actually did anything wrong at that moment. Just be glad you are in Bankok and have can go to unwind.

The woman is mid 50's..... of course she will be old school Thai. I started dating my girlfriend when she was 25 and spoke not a word of English. I have taught her a lot of English and she has good conversation in English 5 years on. My feeling is the lady was mid 40's when you started so her motivation to learn fluent English would not be the same as a 25 year old. It does seem to affect you though mate.
