    Nicely done. I built Occre's Barcelona Tibidabo Tram, and it was very enjoyable. The Rocket is likely the next one I'll buy. They'll probably just collect dust afterwards, but for me it's all about the fun of building it.

      It is a fun kit. I have also found that I get just as much enjoyment fabricating cases for my kits. Solves the dust problem. I cannot add photos to the comments. I built the case after completing the video.

    Thanks for doing this video Glenn, the finished model looks great. I grew up by the L&MR line where Rocket operated and I was a keen train spotter and modeller in my youth. This kit is to be my first attempt at modelling in my retirement, your video inspired me to give it a try.

      Good luck, you should enjoy it. I built it mostly from the kit though I did add some better quality wood to the kit. I would love to visit Britain and do a rail tour with my squeaker. The Narrow gauge trains in Wales look wonderful.

      @@GlennMale You would enjoy the restored railways in Britain as well as York Railway Museum. You could also visit HMS Victory in Portsmouth. I watched your videos on HMS Surprise, you did an awesome job, if only I was that ambitious !! I have the Sopwith Camel lined up (in my mind) for my next model.

    Can you answer this, please? I have the Rocket kit, together with all the other 1/24 Occre models. So far I've made the B-type bus and I'm part way through the London tram. In that scale, standard gauge track should be 60mm, but all the rail vehicles are gauged at 45mm. That's fine when the wheels are underneath, but for the locos it becomes a problem as the wheels are outside the frames. Does that mean that these models are artificially thin, or even really a smaller scale overall, or is there scope for narrower gauge even in the correct scale?

      @GlennMale  Год назад

      This is the only Occre kit I have made. My understanding is that it is 'G scale'. It may be motorised to fit that gauge. Hope that helps.

      @@GlennMale Thanks for your response. Occre's own site describes the kit as "1:24 / G-45". I asked them the same question, but their reply was full of info about scales (that I already knew), and although they confirmed that this model is 1/24, they didn't explain how they fitted a standard-gauge loco frame and boiler between narrow-gauge wheels.

    Very Nice! What dye did you use ? Did you varnish on top? It gives the wood an aged look, great choice of color!

    • @GlennMale
      @GlennMale  Год назад

      Thank you. I did substitute some of the wood with a better quality. It was coated with water based Urethane.

      @@GlennMale thanks for the reply! I'm finishing the build of mine, would you take a few minutes to explain what you did for the weels? I guess you used occres own wood for those, I'm having trouble getting a good result with acrylic paint on those even if I used gesso/sealant before the first layer of acrylic. I'm using yellow. Did you just dye and varnish? Thanks again!

      @@zewill87 It has been so long I almost for got. I did use a wood stain on parts of the train. I actually used a stain called 'Sikkens cedar' stain which was left over from coating my deck, then urethane . This matched the sapele wood I used. I did not use a sealant as I wanted the stain to soak into the wood. I hope that helps.
