Fun fact about autism and being trans - according to some studies autistic individuals are more likely to be trans/nonbinary cos we don't get social norms and just why gender is. I've read a book that was like made from talks with autistic afab people and majority of them said they either don't care about gender at all, or they don't even feel human sometimes so. It actually made me quit questioning of I was nonbinary because yeah it seems its common in people with brain like mine
Nah, this isn't quite true. Yes, there is an overlap within trans and autistic people but not because of the 'not getting social norms' thing. Trans people are born trans and autistic people are born autistic, so if a person is both of them they must have been born as both. It's not entirely clear why there is an overlap but it has to be neurological/ not because of society. I'm sure this wasn't your intention but the way you phrase it does kinda come across as being autistic makes you automatically trans which ist just false.
@@thundertooth wdym I literally said "more likely to be". Maybe it wasn't phrased the best since I am not using english everyday - it made sense to me - but in no way I said that is makes you trans or otherwise. The thing about being raised as a girl (I'm nonbinary btw, not a girl) and being taught early in life to be sweet and prioritize other's comfort makes so much sense! I feel like within that, there is this fear of being a burden to other people that makes a mask develop quickly and makes everyday struggles invisible to other people. I have trouble with sounds and textures, but it isn't obvious to other people that I struggle with those. People are usually surprised by the issues I have when they come up in conversations. Stuff like going wash my hands real quick or drenching them in hand sanitizer after cleaning sweaty ankle weights, doing stuff on the other side of the gym when someone's hearing aid is buzzing, checking connections in wires or settings on machines go unnoticed until I say something. I'm quiet to the point that even my footsteps and physical presence go unnoticed sometimes, so the weird things I do also tend to go unnoticed. I'm also usually the only one who hears the noises that give me headaches or increase my anxiety. I can't stay long in most stores because I get overwhelmed by the lights and noise, but if I'm with someone, I am comfortable putting in earbuds and can stay longer. (I don't use earbuds in public by myself to be aware of my surroundings.) There just seems to be a lot of things that contribute to my struggles being invisible, so there were never concerns about getting checked for anything growning up. (And the lack of concern for those things growing up makes me feel too guilty to self diagnose) This isn't related to the gender I was raised as, but I think it still relates to how struggles can be invisible to others. I've gotten braver in the past few years about mentioning sounds. My boss thinks it's cool that I can hear things most people can't, and it actually came in handy a few times (mostly figuring out things were breaking, not plugged in right, or recognizing patients having heart monitors or other related devices). Other people usually only get to see the ability to hear those noises as useful or "cool," almost like a superpower, so the struggle with sounds is invisible to them. I won't lie. I find it funny (in a frustrating way) when people don't think autistic people can be trans or non-binary because of autism. I feel like the studying of human behaviour we do in order to mask makes us MORE likely to figure out our genders.
I was diagnosed with autism ten years ago last month - I've learned so much about myself since then. I first came out as gay in 1998 and now I've just this past week come out as pansexual. So I fully empathise with all your coming outs ☺️💜
I dont know if youll see this question, but do you think that growing up being viewed as a girl couldve contributed to the fact that you werent diagnosed as a kid? I know you talked about how it presented differently in girls but I didn't catch the explicit answer to that specific question. (You can tell im pretty certain im autistic too, by the way i need like. Total certanity over my questions) Sometimes i wonder if id been a cis boy my parents mightve started suspecting it earlier lol
@@NOAHFINNCEconsidering your like a year younger than me i would say its highly likely. We both grew up during the time of girls not being diagnosed as children.
As a 25 year old trans man with some diagnoses (including anxiety and adhd), always been called highly sensitive - this is very relatable lol. May try to get diagnosed some day.
I was diagnosed with PDD (no longer a diagnosis) at 4. Then asperhergers (also not a diagnosis anymore, also dyslexic so can't spell) at 7. And finally autism at 12. I'm very grateful that here in Australia we have funding for diagnosis. At the age of 4 I was told it was puberty. Spoiler, it was not. At 14 I was diagnosed with ADHD. I cannot speak on not being treated as a child because I was a child. I was the first "girl" at my school to be diagnosed with then PDD at my school. Story time if anyone cares. One day in prep (the year of school before first grade, so I was like 5 or 6) my teacher was away and we were told to go to a different teachers class, and my best friend was in this class so I was very excited. So I got to school and went to that class, but it turns out their teacher was also away and they had a substitute teacher who didn't know who was and wasn't in the class. Anyway it turns out that the principle went to my class to mark the role and I was not there and they were freaked out cause y'know they lost this child. They ended up calling my parents. They eventually found me and I was suspended for "ditching class" which I still think was stupid. It was prep, class was colouring in sheets and reading picture story books, both activities I love. And no I am not over it.
Awesome video king, keep up with the great content! (Only when you feel ready to post stuff tho ofc) Just wanted to say thank you for your videos as a recently identified trans masc person, I always watch your stuff as comfort content on days where I'm around people who wouldn't necessarily be supportive of me or am just generally feeling dysphoric. You're probably well aware of this by now, but this channel really means a ton to all of us who are watching it from inside the closet :)
I'm glad you were able to get a diagnosis and it's bringing you some peace of mind! I'm pretty sure I'm autistic and this video was really helpful (and also felt like a bit of a call-out at times 😬) so thank you!
Greetings from Vienna, Austria. I've been diagnosed with Aspergers, so I am on the spectrum. My insurance covers the diagnostic and also, it covers the psychotherapy. It was not so easy to get it covered, but considering my depression I got it. But,you have to be so persistent and keep making all the phone calls and so , so much emailing.
I’m just getting ready for my initial therapy appointment, to get tested for ADHD and ASD. This video couldn’t have been posted at a better time, thanks man!
I find it crazy that you got diagnosed by the adult autism practice when that's the same place I went for my diagnosis in May and I mentioned your channel and music in my intake form. Excited to see you live in November!
Someone else said it here too but it’s so interesting to me how neurodivergent/autistic people unintentionally gravitate towards each other and content of those who give off that energy 😅 I started watching your channel before I was diagnosed and now you too
Early-diagnosed autistic guy here. Late-diagnosed autistic folk are among the most relatable people for me and seem like the most similar. I think most early-diagnosed autistic folk could live very similar lives as well if they were receiving more productive and respectful kinds of care.
YESH! Newly diagnosed neurodivergent people becoming weirder after their diagnosis: No one had "the talk" with me about my unholy transition. hehe I also was diagnosed with Autism in February of 2024 as well holy cow! Legit always knew I was different but this like hugely helped me be more myself and also like own being trans/gay/finding out I"m intersexed and have a lot of neurodivergency. I am considering doing my own coming out video to revamp my channel. Love the music also!
love this video!! i definitely did not burn my carrots in the kitchen bc i started cleaning my room while watching this... on that note ty for making this!! lots of folks assume that im autistic bc i have hyperacusis (sound damage so i gotta wear like ear plugs and headphones all the time) and adhd and stuff and it def makes me wonder too. but the more i learn about all the variables the more i see the differences and similarities in diagnosis which is super helpful for me i feel like thank you!! :)
I’ve been wanting to get an autism diagnosis, but knowing the US, I’m afraid i will have trouble getting HRT with an Autism diagnosis. I’ve had at least two therapists say I’m likely autistic, and I was diagnosed with ADHD in the past, but I still have imposter syndrome about it
as someone who did go through the NHS for my diagnosis, it took three years 😭 but I did eventually get my diagnosis last year! it definitely felt a lot more targeted towards young children, but I was recommended when I was 13 so I think I went through a section specifically made for children.
I've been following you for ages now and yeah this doesn't come off as a surprise. I'm also late diagnosed autistic (at the age of 50), and I feel fortunate (being in the US) that I even found a reputable clinic that works with adults and provides adult assessments, diagnosis, and support. My health insurance covered part of it, but I still had to spend $2,500 out of pocket (which holds back a lot of folks from ever getting a diagnosis). I wasn't sure if I was ADHD, autistic, or both (my house mate is both and we have a lot of overlapping quirks, which is what made me begin to question in the first place). In the end, I wound up with a diagnosis of Level 1 Autism with a side-order of Alexithymia (which I'd never heard of before, but that tracked once I read my assessment and looked into that condition). I've since come to realize most of my friends are somewhere on the spectrum as well, although I'm the only one that's trans (and gay). I also think my late husband was likely AuADHD. Sadly, he passed in 2016, still struggling to make sense of his life. I often wonder if he could have gotten a proper diagnosis (beyond "you're just depressed and need more sleep") if he'd still be with us? Anyway, forgive my autistic need of oversharing (I think you'll understand). Always cool to see new content from you!

Yayyyy a new video 🥳 I have known I have always been autistic and my parents have, but I only got diagnosed when I was 17, and now I'm 20. Medical professionals just don't understand people that are afab, and it is really annoying because the signs are different to amab (I am seeing noah in Manchester)
i‘ve thought that i might really be autistic for a longer time now because i got really deep into the topic and i have and relate to many traits. But i think it would be so hard to get a diagnosis under the age of 18 because some of these professional tests treat autistic people like they are little children and are partially just using stereotypes for diagnosing and idk. On the other hand i think: what if im not autistic? Then what does explain the way i am? Idk it makes me think so much Anyway im glad you have the assurance now and i hope you‘ll be able to figure yourself out over time, i wish you the best :)

congrats! i was diagnosed in feb as well. been watching you for years now and would love some more autism content
I so feel for you. It took me years to get diagnosed via the NHS for Autism just before Covid. The assessment was just so daunting. All the best Noah
I always feel comfortable watching your youtube videos. Btw your new song (PET WITH THE TISM) is a blast, I have listened to it for days!
I have both ADHD and autism. Also I can relate to so much of what you said having both of them can be difficult.
I will be swimming to the UK now thanks for the idea
Good luck!
I actually adore pet with the tism. It’s honestly my favourite thing ever rn
very chaotic intro but i’m here for it
Fr 😭
More videos like this!☆ And also room tour? CAUSE UR ROOM LOOKS SO COOL
this is my first time watching you again in probably like a year? totally thought you already knew and came out and stuff, clicked on this being like “wait.. isn’t that like… already a thing??” lmao
As soon as pet with the tism came out iv had it on repeat cuz its amazing😌👏 ✨️
And im so happy to hear "hello underachievers" again lol
I need to find some good places like that in America. I’m 100% AuDHD but I have a horrible fear of appointments, doctors, etc. but I still really want to get a diagnosis
Yep same
Yep
I find it funny (in a frustrating way) when people don't think autistic people can be trans or non-binary because of autism. I feel like the studying of human behaviour we do in order to mask makes us MORE likely to figure out our genders.
' i could have been diagnosed but my brother was way worse so i just kinda slid under the radar' BRO THAT HIT ME HARD WTF
I was diagnosed with autism ten years ago last month - I've learned so much about myself since then. I first came out as gay in 1998 and now I've just this past week come out as pansexual. So I fully empathise with all your coming outs ☺️💜
so glad you're back!! btw, loved pet with the tism:)💙💙
This video is so cool and it’s super interesting to listen to your story!!!❤
Honestly, not surprised. Like, didn't really consider it before and thus didn't expect it, but I'm also not surprised tbh.
Noah new video this so amazing to see as a topper to an amazing day.
I’m autistic and have adhd so it makes me feel better to know my fav creator be open about it! ❤
Happy autism! Lol
I’m currently self diagnosed but waiting for my diagnosis results to come in :)
Happy for you that you got yours
The little clips in between are killing me omg 😭
I dont know if youll see this question, but do you think that growing up being viewed as a girl couldve contributed to the fact that you werent diagnosed as a kid? I know you talked about how it presented differently in girls but I didn't catch the explicit answer to that specific question. (You can tell im pretty certain im autistic too, by the way i need like. Total certanity over my questions) Sometimes i wonder if id been a cis boy my parents mightve started suspecting it earlier lol
yeah probably!
@NOAHFINNCE Thank you for humouring my silly little question :) I'm so happy you're able to find freedom in your diagnosis!
HEY NOAHH im so happy you posted !!!!! :DDD
The guess insert gave me life
I’m just getting ready for my initial therapy appointment, to get tested for ADHD and ASD.
This video couldn’t have been posted at a better time, thanks man!
I find it crazy that you got diagnosed by the adult autism practice when that's the same place I went for my diagnosis in May and I mentioned your channel and music in my intake form. Excited to see you live in November!
Please continue to rizz us with your tizz ✨ SO here for this as a fellow AUDHD’er baddie
YAAAAY!!! UR BACK!!!!!!!!! HE'S BACK!!!!!!!!!!!
thank u for making this video sir
Someone else said it here too but it’s so interesting to me how neurodivergent/autistic people unintentionally gravitate towards each other and content of those who give off that energy 😅 I started watching your channel before I was diagnosed and now you too
Welcome to the family! We're glad to call you one of ours. :)
was diagnosed formally this morning after a thorough assessment - mixed feelings, we will get there 🌻
Early-diagnosed autistic guy here.
Love the music also!
only a person with autism can find reasons to come out three times.
love this video!! i definitely did not burn my carrots in the kitchen bc i started cleaning my room while watching this... on that note ty for making this!! lots of folks assume that im autistic bc i have hyperacusis (sound damage so i gotta wear like ear plugs and headphones all the time) and adhd and stuff and it def makes me wonder too. but the more i learn about all the variables the more i see the differences and similarities in diagnosis which is super helpful for me i feel like thank you!! :)
Noah is so relatable it is crazy
HEY NOAH! How r u? Hope you and your close ones are doing good:3 so happy your back!!!!!:3334
Woohoo! Missed you! I’m gonna save this to watch later when I’m done with work. Love you!!!
GET ON RUclips EVERYONE NOAH POSTED AHHHHH

@@asherapparently yesssss
I hope you find the video style that makes you happy, I'm here for you and your journey ❤❤
Your first jab video is something you should be so proud of. And yes, you are still SO cute ❤
Thank you so much for this video and for spreading awareness! 💞
We missed you Noah 😫 Best intro so far

I got diagnosed in Feb and have only just publicly started talking about it too! :)
We missed u Noah!!!❤️❤️
Yayyyy a new video 🥳
I have known I have always been autistic and my parents have, but I only got diagnosed when I was 17, and now I'm 20. Medical professionals just don't understand people that are afab, and it is really annoying because the signs are different to amab
(I am seeing noah in Manchester)
I was 100% waiting for this video :))
I have a bazillion identical socks too! And eye contact is EXHAUSTING
i‘ve thought that i might really be autistic for a longer time now because i got really deep into the topic and i have and relate to many traits. But i think it would be so hard to get a diagnosis under the age of 18 because some of these professional tests treat autistic people like they are little children and are partially just using stereotypes for diagnosing and idk. On the other hand i think: what if im not autistic? Then what does explain the way i am? Idk it makes me think so much
Anyway im glad you have the assurance now and i hope you‘ll be able to figure yourself out over time, i wish you the best :)
