  • Classic Laphroaig Cairdeas Showdown! They seem very similar on paper but are they?

This is a comment on your review of Laphroaig 10 VS Cairdeas 2022 and I love your style and honesty!!! Don't ever dail it back!! The comparison was excellent and then to say if you don't want to spend your money on these guys there's Ardbeg, Kilchoman and Port Charlotte for excellence for less!!!!! Kudos my friend kudos!! You tell it like you see it. I came from a wine background and I have long since ceased to have to have the greatest vintage bottle from the highest rated wineries and I am beginning to believe that each of us has his own holy grail. Our journey is to find the one for us. My friend loves Laphroaig 10 and select, gives him the flavor he wants from Scotch. I love Ardbeg Corryvreckan, Kilchoman Machir Bay Cask Strength and Glen Scotia Victoriana (the original release) each captures a different perspective on "scotch" but so well....
Thanks for your honesty. Have you ever reviewed Ardbeg Corryvreckan?
I'd love to know what you think about it.

Thanks Cecil 🙂 there's definitely value to be had in finding what you enjoy and appreciating it for what it is. In whisky and in many other things. Wise words to live by.
I have had a few bottles of Corryvreckan. When I first tried it, it was my favourite of the Ardbeg range. I've gone back to favour the 10yo since (I *love* the 10) but still have a soft spot for the Corry. I actually have an open bottle of Corry at the moment and hopefully will get around to a review soon. Thanks for the kind words. Cheers 🥃

Thank you for minding your manners and doing this side by side as well. Do you think in 7-10 years we’ll be missing this year’s?

It's quite likely. Back in 2015 (and now) there were already people talking about how much better the even older bottlings were. I do think the 2022 Cairdeas will be one that's remembered fondly. I just hope we get some releases in future that are comparable.

Excellent video as always, what is your favorite Laphroaig Cairdeas bottling from 2015 to present? Mine is the 2015 followed by the Fino and the CS quarter cask.

Thanks Taylor. To be fair, I think Laphroaig have done really well with Cairdeas since 2015 (I didn't like like Amontillado the year before). The only recent one that I didn't really like was last year's PX. I really, really liked the 2015 one as well as the Port and Wine (surprisingly). Cheers! 🥃
