If I'd never heard of Tolkien or read his works or seen the Jackson films... this would look shit compared to Shannara Chronicles or Foundation, it has worse dialogue than Wheel of Time, and it has so many storylines (about 7) that it's impossible to do well, even with genius writing. They literally had no idea what to do with Isildur. If they had actually made him much older and had him be a strong warrior along with his brother it would have made more sense. He could have been proving his worth all this time, but they screwed him up. Also, there was no reason to have the entire Isildur death copout. Literally nothing comes of it except his sister betraying her father and putting tension between her and their father. Now, its not impossible that Isildur left Numenor sometimes during the war against Sauron. I don't think the books explicitly say it. Elendil of course was not a mere ship captain but a lord. I wonder if this is implying sometime in the past he was kicked out for whatever reason. Also, notice how OUT OF NOWHERE they introduce that Elendil has another son, Anarion? They do this with Durin IV having a brother, too. This is how they will introduce Celebrian. She'll just show up with NO MENTION of her existing prior.
the better thing to do its to focus the story in one area first, maybe start with establishing the lore and map via focusing the story first maybe on the present elves in Lindon while sprinkling some backstory. VIa plot they can slowly introduce related stories like the dwarves, man, and then Eregion. end season one with that Celembrimbor is planning to make the rings with advise from "friend". then season 2 is about the rings being distributed. but fk the lore i guess

It is a mystery to me how someone can turn such a brilliant literary source into such laughable nonsense. This nonsense has nothing to do with Tolkien. But maybe all this is just the end of imagination, childhood, some porn over sex era thing, idk, it makes me all very sad right now. And Sorry, I'm not on the diversity-gutted bandwagon nor I was overthrown by some lore or timeline changes even tho sticking to characters that just play house fake-clumsily hinting and toying around their respective clunkier renewed paraphernalia isn't the pay-off we needed at all, but it's really the lack of imagination and the soapy pace and the administrative-heavy showy contempt of these content machines just throwing the sweets we liked in some other bad wraps and the essence isn't even there anymore, all dried up.
