I never knew that the upper woodwinds could be that aggressive. I love it!
Another incredible, powerful work from my favorite composer
Mackey is a beast!
0:12 I. The blooded lines
4:30 II. Secrets' teeth
9:19 III. Sorrow is a blade
15:31 IV. The curtain calls
I hope I have the pleasure to meet cris Martin one day
The trumpet soli starting at 12:39 is so good
Brilliant piece, brilliant performance. Nice sounding hall. Sounds like a Hollywood scoring stage.
Just like a damn lead trumpet to hang over at the end!!😝 Sounds great!
Mackey actually wrote that way on purpose. Mackey writes in the score, and I quote "hold over slightly past ensemble, quick "fall" release" The "fall" just means fall over the ensemble, just restating what Mackey wants the player to do
Quick “fall” release is non-trumpet player terms for a kiss off
8:33 so fire
Expandiendo los horizontes de la trompeta¡ extremo
OMG !!!!!!
20th Century Fox at 15:34
and 16:18
clever mackey
Actually, that's just a common drum cadence. Marching bands all over the place use it, mainly to kick off a fight song
FAN TASSSSS TIC
12:40 sacred spaces? mackey def had to have sourced it from here.
Mackey came and talked to our all-state band (since we are recording sacred spaces) last week and told us when he wrote the melody for sacred spaces that it sounded familiar, and it was because he had already written it here. He said he was ok stealing from himself
What are all the different instruments he uses in this? Obviously there's trumpet, piccolo trumpet, and I'm assuming flugelhorn, but there's another one I'm missing (and please correct me if I'm wrong lol)
its an Eb trumpet
And also also a c
@@trumpetandstuff2405 This piece does not call for a C Trumpet. That's the Eb
I thought Chris was playing on Bb but at 16:30 I realized he’s playing on C
He uses a Piccolo Bb, a regular Bb, an Eb and a Flugelhorn. That’s the instrumentation for the solo. 4 C trumpets for the Wind Ensemble.
