lionheartx10 I'm loving the diverse way you play Total War games, when you run multiple campaigns so if I watch one i have more to watch while I wait. Though I think my favourite faction are the High Elves! Loving all the videos keep them coming!
glad someone else spotted that. it's a buff not a hex. :) funny as lionheart was actually trying to cast it ti not "catch" his troops in the 1st battle :)
nobody cares about TB. Not an actual total war youtuber. And chances his campaign is never ended. Also playing in Normal difficulty. What travesty is that?
The Skrull chronicles 1... "Skrull!!" Skrull Whitepelt of Clan Skyre looked up from his meager holdings as he wore some meager clothing for a clanrat. It was a simple clothing, mainly a grey cloth covering his body with some leather and iron attached to it through various means to create a mixture of armor and clothing. His pelt was white, which was a rare color for most Clanrats or any Skaven at all beyond the very revered Albino Guard. He held at the moment a triangular shield of wood with the red symbol of the Great Horned Rat and he held a crudely made spear for his weapon. "What-what, Moras?" Answered Skrull as he turned to face the other clanrat. Moras was this black clanrat with a spear and wearing the red clothing as he was also from Clan Mors. His armor was about the same as Skrull and as he hissed he then said, "Skrull, you-you are Dwarf dung! You are useless-useless and should be a slave-slave!" "You are below even-even slaves, Moras! You-you would be Skaven slave-slave slave!" The two rats were currently in their group of clanrats as both groups now jeered and goaded the two to fight. Skaven infighting was an easy way for clanrats to avoid boredom and get better in the ranks as the stronger you are, the more followers you would likely get. Just before this fight they had ambushed the Lizard-things with the Pestilen Clan leader, Skrulk, and had easily crushed the lizardthings with spear and teeth and clawed fist. Both clanrats circled one another as the other clanrats made space for the two and when the two finally fought, it was a true Skaven way as they flipped, jumped, and leapt with their spears as they tried to skewer one another. The ground soon became a bit worked and slightly muddy as the two kept trying to simply skewer but unlike Moras, Skrull used his shield to block the shots and return a cheap shot while a Moras was forced to run and leap all over. It ended up coming down to Moras tackling Skrull and the two biting, scratching, kicking, and fighting tooth and claw on the ground as the other clanrats jeered and cheered. "Die-die, slave!" Screeched Moras. "I slay-slay you, Low slave!" Shouted Skrull. The two bit and fought as blood and fur flew from the two and as suddenly both jumped up and split, both had gouged wounds in one another as Moras now had a scratched eye that wept blood and he clutched it as he shrieked out, "My eye-eye! You pY-pay for my eye-eye!" "I pay nothing but cold-cold steel-steel!" Shouted Skrull as he then took up his spear and threw it as hard as he could. Most clanrats, or Skaven in general terms, were not the most physically adept at things. But the Horned Rat must have been especially cruel today as the spear passed through Moras's armor and clothing and as blood and entrails flew, Moras screamed one last time before falling back onto his back as suddenly a wave of rats and even some Skaven descended upon him as they tore what they could from him, armor, clothing, and even his body parts. Skrull nodded as he grabbed the slain Moras's spear and then his shield as he was bleeding but he sneered as he would then bandage himself and lick his wounds. "I am Skrull White-Whitepelt!" Shouted Skrull. "And I Attack-fight all who question-challenge me!"
I dunno if this has commented yet but I think why the Lizard men aren't attacking your settlements is that they don't "see" them thanks to the skaven racial attribute (after all there's point in sieging a ruin.)
SampoPaalanen minor factions that you’re at war with at the beginning of the game tend to be more passive, so they are less likely to bring the war to your doorstep. At least on lower difficulties. When you go to war with other Lizardman factions later on, they are probably just going to march up to any ruins they find and figure out later if those ruins are occupied or not.
An amusing idea, but he probably won’t have slaves for long. They’re really only good for stalling enemy troops for artillery or spells. Their expendable trait does mean that other troops won’t be demoralized when the slaves run, but you’re better off trading the slaves for clanrats (especially shielded ones) when you can. And then trade those clanrats for stormvermin or plague monks when you can.
I-I, Scribe-Slave Skrachit Snyff, have the great-great honor of writing the great-great chronicle of Lord Skrolk? hallowed be his-his name of the Thirteen, be he merciful and cruel in measure and lay pity-pity upon this pathetic slave when he reads this! Our-our travel across the Under-Empire to Lustria, where the HATED Reptile-things (may they be spit upon and their bones gnawed for they are delicious and crunchable) spawn and revere their FALSE GOD SOTEK, was boring and uneventful. Also, hundreds-hundreds died on the sea-tunnel from Skavenblight to Lustria, but they were all weak-weak and pathetic not like I, and especially not my Great Lord Skrolk (may his name live forever and may he please not have me whipped so often). After establishing our first outpost at Oyxl, we spread to an old-old ruin called "The Sentinel of Time" where we found an green-thing dancing madly and then falling down in it's stupidity, as green-things often do. I-I (in my estimable and loyal-loyal service to Lord Skrolk) was tasked with searching his remains, but the green-thing merely defecated upon dying upon me. I thank-thank Lord Skrolk for this honor, may he perhaps less send me to search green-things in the future oh noble lord. After moving our host south and seeing the reptile-things moving towards us, Lord-Lord Skrolk (may his wise tactical knowledge always lead to victory) intelligently requested that we retreat to the north to lay wait in ambush for the stupid-stupid reptile-things! At night we struck-struck without warning, flanking their marching order from both sides, letting slingers and plague catapults kill the hated scaled fools in large numbers! They swiftly were broken by brilliant ambush! Scribe-Slave Skratchit of course was bravely at the front of the battle and not hiding in back (no matter what the others, who shall not sleep safely much longer, no indeed) falsely claim about my valor! After letting them flee, we pursued and ambushed them in daylight (which hurt-hurt Scribe-Slave Skratchit's eyes), which led to an even greater victory for Lord Skrolk! We then returned to the south to settle The Sentinel of Time, as was our Lord's original intention, but no sooner had we then a force of hated reptile-things twice the size of the lady approached near Oxyl, passing it by only by the great-great cunningly hidden warrens beneath rather then foolishly visible above ground! This battle would be our-our first true test and the beginning of our revenge against the reptile-things who drove Clan Pestilens out of Lustria many-many years ago! We swarmed them in the thousand-thousands, drowning them from all directions in our vermintide, slaughtering all we ran across and diseasing the rest of them in glory to the Horned Rat! Lord Skrolk (may his flail always strike scaly flesh) even engaged the reptile-thing leader directly to crush their morale further, single-handedly destroying much of the army until none-none were left! (Any rumor that in fact that many escaped and were later killed by a garrison force left behind while Lord Skrolk celebrated his victory are lies-lies told by other skaven to unjustly elevate themselves, and are punishable by being consumed alive by wolf-rats after hours of agonizing experimentation.) After commanding a Grey Seer (Ulcess the Vomitus) to take command of The Sentinel, Lord Skrolk (may his diplomatic skills ever outwit the foolish) began to send peaceful envoys to the inferior Clan Spittil, that we might mutually agree-agree to not kill each other (for now). We also moved to secure the surrounding lands by taking a northern reptile-thing settlement at last-last, finding a trove of valued warpstone that we might finally begin ritual preparations!
This seems neat, and covers what happened well, however just can't stop myself from wanting to correct it a bit, if I may? I assume the way you're writing is based off of the speech patterns CA has for the Skaven in the game and how you've heard/seen it so far? I've heard somewhere that there was some old stuff where it was written that way as well (not sure how valid that is myself), however to most people I've seen comment on it and to myself the way CA did it just seems wrong as Skaven jitter-speak. Main point of conflict with what most people I know view as Skaven jitter-speech and what CA has is where the emphasis lies and that it seems that CA has interpreted double words as purely repetition. Instead of repetition (which there can be some of, though not as the stutter sort of thing it reads like as you have here from what I've seen, for example "Quick! Quick!" or "Yes! Yes!") most double words come as synonyms with joining words removed from between them. Also for where the emphasis for these are placed, Skaven jitter-speech prioritizes the most important parts of a sentence, along with verbs, some nouns and some adjectives, as if there was a second meaning or sentence in their manic minds as they spoke causing the doubling up of words. As such a sentence starting with I-I just seems off to me and seems a bit weird. As an example of what I mean here is a interpretation of one of your sentences how I would write such (for purpose of comprehension of what I mean/want to help improve) 'After search-seeking South and watch-seeing the reptile-things advance-march towards us, Lord Skrolk, (may his wise-smart tactics always bring-take us victory) intelligently request-told us that we should run-scurry to the North and hide-wait in surprise-ambush for the stupid-foolish reptile-things!' I feel like I may have something wrong with that, due to lack of experience with writing much, however it feels to me that it flows much more like a Skaven sentence and I don't think I damaged the meaning of the sentence much if I did. Also worth noting is that the dialogue speed what CA have recorded seems a bit off in comparison to other stuff I've seen that I believe represents Skaven well. For example in Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide, another Warhammer fantasy based game which features Skaven rather heavily, their lines sound about 1.5x faster or so than average human talking lines, which to me represents how manic and full of anxiety bred by their backstabbing society they are better than if the lines were given at an average human talking pace. Also from what I know about Queekish (the language of Skaven in-universe, though I don't know if it was used much outside of the tabletop RPG, not sure) due to the speed they speak long sentences generally get fragmented somewhat and need to be pieced together to get the coherent sentences, with high speed of speech and double words carried over to other languages, though I don't know if the fragmentation of sentences carries over outside of their own language and would probably hurt comprehension more than it would help so I haven't attempted adding that.
@@Orochi259 Love this (and anything else that enriches the Skaven). You're totally right, and it sounds much better that way. Would love to pick your brains on anything else Skaven. Or goblins, or ogres. I like all those nasty, primal, tide-like races.
Nice one, keep the theme of Pestilens. This is my plan for his campaign, his army will contain only Plague Monks, Censer Bearers, Plagueclaw Catapult, another Priest with Plague Furnace or even two, is a must have.
History of the Vermintide: Pt: 1 As the Skaven watched over their Under Empire in anger after their defeat against the Empire and Wood Elves at Battle of Remarche, the Second Skaven Civil War and finally the Unification of the Under Empire by the Great Horned Rat; the Council of 13 had finally found their chance to strike back at the Overworld for their sins in the face of the Horned Rat. With the comet coming and going they noticed the Elves and Lizardmen were laid low by its passing. Now, with their magic web declining in power the Skaven sent one of their most prolific clans, Clan Pestulins, to the surface to begin the Vermintide and to gather Warpstone to revive the Great Horned Rat once more. Allowing Lord Skrolk the full might of the Under Empire the Overworlds fate was practically sealed, the prophesied Vermintide had finally come. It began rather humbly however as Lord Skrolk and his followers, easily in the thousands emerged from the Under-Empire in the abandoned city of Oyxl and set up a lair before immediately beginning conflict with the Lizardmen. The first faction to feel their wrath was the Southern Sentinels who were planning on resettling Oyxl themselves. However when some scouts were ambushed by Skaven and devoured war was declared. However, instead of immediately moving on the Lizardmen city of Subatuun, Skrolk instead turned his gaze South-East to the ruins of the Sentinel of Time and planned on infesting the ruins to secure his Southern flank against Lizardmen incursions from the Sentinel city of The Southern Sentinels. Before that however Skrolk first set about feeding his army. When the Skaven emerged into the ruins they found a old Lizardmen summoning pool that was still in working order. Skrolk wasted no time in corrupting the pool with a Skaven plague so when it spawned a Lizardman, it was horribly malformed. That would make it easy pickings for the Skaven who summoned the poor beast. He then built proper barracks over his so called 'Pit' which summoned regular Skaven, to train his Skaven soldiers to be better able to fight the battles that were assured to be ahead. Then he sent a envoy, unusual for Skaven, to a vampire outpost in the North and agreed to a tentative non-aggression pact for the time being so as to assure one more potential enemy's neutrality while also using his trickiness to con the Vampires out of five hundred gold pieces. Skrolk then tried to get the same deal with some Skaven on his northern border but was rebuffed. Skrolk vowed to return and take over the Clan, but was laughed out of the room. The same thing happened with the Dwarves of the Spine of Sotek, once so fearful of the Skaven but now having become arrogant due to the aforementioned Skaven defeats. As Skrolk finally went on the warpath to the South he recruited more Clanrat Spears to his army to counter the expected makeup of the Lizardmen army. When Skrolk finally reached the Sentinels of Time he first scouted the ruins for Warpstone, finding nothing but a dirty, dead Ork. However after finding nothing but the Ork Skrolk was struck by a pang of paranoia. What if the Lizardmen snatched Oyxl out from under him while he was away in the South? To prevent this his Army turned around and went back to Oyxl to prevent any such maneuvers and to allow for the army to grow. And grow it did as clanrats with shields were summoned to the Surface to join the Vermintide. However, before Skrolk could move South the Lizardmen Army led by their leader Xlti was spotted outside the Sentinels of Time, hunting for treasure. Skrolk seized the opportunity and charged South, ambushing the Lizardmen as they began to march home. Skrolk sent the Under-Empire food the night before the battl and in return the Council of 13 gifted him five hordes of rats to use as needed during the battle. Striking from both sides the Lizardmen did not stand a chance against the Skaven hordes. It was not long before the confused, disorganized and frightened Lizardmen were fleeing like well rats. The Under-Empire reinforcements were used to great effect to cut off and decimate retreating units of Lizardmen dealing additional casualties. While the Lizardmen leader Xlti did escape the battle he suffered major injuries and shuffled back towards home beaten and bloodied in the first battle of the Era of the Rat. The captives of that battle were sent back to Oyxl and sold into Slavery where they suffered harsh conditions working 23 hours a day. The hour they got off was the hour the Skaven slept. Most did not suffer long and were eaten soon after being bought. The beaten Lizardmen army was able to outrun Skrolk and regroup, before managing to get around them and heading straight for Oyxl. Taking Oyxl, Xlti hoped would discourage the Council and force them to recall Skrolk to the Under Empire. Meanwhile a wandering force of displaced units from other, previously displaced factions quickly emerged near the borders of Skaven territory. Skrolks advisors urged him to strike the disorganized outcasts quickly before any more men and beasts were brought to their cause. Skrolk did not listen and instead chased down the Lizardmen. After sending down three tributes of food the Lizardmen were again ambushed having been to focused on their goal to notice the gathering Skaven force. The second battle was a lot like the first and the Lizardmen were forced on the backpedal, forcing them back once more. Their lord Xlti was even gravely wounded, having to be carried off the field of battle after being caught in a Skaven horde and surrounded. His guard cut their way out and made their way South, the Skaven hot on their heels. The few Lizardmen captured were again enslaved and sent back to the Skaven Lair to serve their new masters. The Lizardmen were not heading South for long however and again got ahead of the Skaven, getting closer to ever to Oyxl. If they could just take it all this loss could be worth it and the Skaven threat could be smothered in the proverbial cradle. However they were yet again ambushed by Skrolks Skaven who, tired of this game of cat and mouse went all out on their attack. The interim Lizardmen commander Ijar'Idan was caught completely off guard and his army was completely crushed by Skrolks men, overwhelming and devouring the ragged survivors as they fled. Ijar himself went down trying to break through to Skrolk but when he did Skrolk lept on him, tearing off his face and feasting on his body in full view of his men, only cementing their sense of complete loss. Only a handful were rounded up by the Skaven in the end; they begged for their lives before Skrolk on their knees but Skrolk heard none of it. In the night they were let free and the entire army hunted them down to the last man. It was but a twisted game to the villainous Skaven. Skrolk then headed South once more finally colonizing the Sentinel of Time, devoting much Skaven and materiel to make it a proper outpost for the Skaven armies with alarms to alert them of Lizardmen incursions. Skrolk then spent some time to grow his armies even more so, making them a formitable force to be reckoned with and a far cry from the small force he began the campaign with. Pt 2 in comments.
His idleness almost cost him dearly for while he recruited in the Sentinel a new Lizardmen Army led by Talak'talan, an up and coming general, rushed Oyxl thinking it to be undefended. As the Lizardmen approached the Council scrambled reserves to be put forth as a garrison and prepared to fight a hard battle. However Skrolk was able to press his Horde forward, quickly reaching Oyxl before the Lizardmen could to the surprise of the Council and Lizardmen alike. Seeing the newly bolstered defenses Talak'talan moved his men into the Southern Jungles hoping to ambush Skrolk if he moved out and take the now undefended southern Sentinel if he didn't. Unbeknownst to him however Skaven scouts were tracking his every move, and Skrolk set a counter ambush. After setting his workers to upgrading the Lair into a Nest-Lair to spawn more Skaven faster than before, Skrolk set out to lay his trap. He sent a screening force ahead to pretend to be the main force. After the small force was pushed back they fled into the gaping maws of Skrolks horde and the same situation played out as before, with Talak only barely surviving with his life. Skrolk then chased them down and flooded the Lizardman camp as they slept, devouring hundreds (including Talak) before the rest fled into the forest. However the Army then met up with a patched up Xlti, the long suffering First Commander of the Army. He galvanized the rest of the Army and rallied them for one more push not on Oyxl which was far from their grasp which their constant flight had brought them within a half days march of. With Skrolk miles from the city and the garrison weak the city seemed easy pickings. However the commander of the garrison, a Skaven named Tichit was smarter than he seemed and sought battle that night when the hard pressed Lizardmen were tired. Using his (rested) ranged units to bombard the enemy as his Horde kept them busy the weakened and demoralized Lizardmen were quickly pushed out of formation. A few Under-Empire reinforcements again sealed the Lizardmen fate. Despite routing a few Skaven hordes and killing Tichit, the Lizardmen were again forced to retreat. Xlti was injured and again forced to retreat from the field. His army was intact, but his ego was far from it. Xlti quickly found out that he was also the only survivor of his entire army, the rest were dead or slaving away at the end of a Skaven whip. As Skrolk prepared to chase him down and kill him however he heard rumors of where his infamous spell book the Liber Bubonicus was and set scouts out to find it at once. Skrolk himself, instead of chasing down and killing Xlti, used the Underway to move rapidly West and prepare to take the Lizardman city of Subatuun. Meanwhile Skrolk sent word to Sentinel that Ulcess the Vomintous was to raise an army to keep Xlti contained in the South. Ulcess quickly arrived in Sentinel and wasted no time in raising his assigned army, despite his loyalty being...dubious. Now with many victories under his belt Skrolk approached the Skaven clan to his North that so arrogantly refused him not so long ago. However now they were a lot more friendly, accepting Skrolks nonaggression pact and gladly paying 900 gold for the honor. With that settled Skrolk overran Subatuun and killed its garrison. Now with their immedeat enemies collapsing under the quickly burgeoning weight of Skaven bodies Lustria was in Skrolks sights. The only question now was Could the realms of men, elves and beast beat him?
Damn, I nearly have played 80 hours myself now and finished with both elve races, and still watching every of your WH2 Playthroughs. That game is awesome :D
How to start a rebellion as a Skaven Faction quickly: Rename your second General: Herpes "The Bad Itch" and then watch as you lose half your army in a rebellion. I mean either it's a complete coincidence....or these guys are really living inside the game! :O
hey lionheart, some advice i don't know if you've already gotten. if you're engaging an army for the second time, avoid killing the lord. if you kill the lord, it'll count as a new army, and they'll get to retreat indefinitely. keep the enemy lord alive for two consecutive wins, and the enemy army will be destroyed
Are you serious ?! That's a pretty retarded mechanic if that's true... You would think the army would disband when their leader is dead, not the other way around.
59:10 poor saurus warrior is probably shitting bricks at this point, seeing an overwhelming tide of clanrats just popping through the ground reeking vengeance upon the reptile-things from there beloved underground settlement.
I think the strat here is to build defenses in Subatuun-whatever at the North End of your Province and expand South- the Enemy Lizardmen Settlement *appears* to be in an otherwise-empty province. If you can expand out there and claim a solid province or two along the Southern end of Lustria, that would probably be a solid long-term plan, not to mention that any coastal settlements down there can get you trade deals with the Vampire Coast, boosting income and completing a quest. Edit: Oh, might be worth holding off on recruiting that plague Lord just until Skrulk gets one more level. Next level of the perk just makes them recruit with a bigger exp bonus. Not a huge deal either way, but might be right to hold off.
I have seen a number of strategies that advocate deliberately causing rebellions, but the Skaven seem to have an extra motive. If you have two armies of skaven slaves or slingers, you can have one raid one of your provinces, continually generating unrest. Then, when a rebellion spawns, you have one army raid right next to it, and the other attacks with the other reinforcing. You will therefore get a size 7 or so rebellion every turn, generating food and money. The money might be less than the maintenance of two lords, but you can get to 80+ food and maintain it very easily. Plus you get to train up your lords, and perhaps a lone artillery unit. A starting strategy of not spending any food until you have 80+ gets your growth going, and makes all your home territory fights a LOT easier. A clan rat summons that has its leadership buffed by high food is excellent for holding mobs in place for swarms of skaven slave slingers.
I'm a big fan of the skaven clan\clans, i collect them and as a fan, thank you for making a series on these magnificent murderous evil beings. It's also great to see another way you can play as the skaven, i really want this game now. Thanks for all the tips and tricks on what to do with the foulest of creatures :3
Given that the Skaven can build really cheap armies, perhaps they should build a dedicated raiding army. Get a second leader trained early, and use the fact that raiding income is based on army size, and have a raiding army that makes significantly more than the maintenance cost. Also, use rebellious armies to get more food. Don't KILL rebellious armies, if possible, just defeat them, take their food, let them recruit, defeat them, take their food. Maintaining large raiding armies will require a lot of food, but if you can keep the disorder predictable, you can balance it out. I don't know if the leader of a raiding army will lose loyalty, but if it has a lot of skavenslave slingers, it can be a decent reinforcing army.
Not yet watched the episode, but I give you an advice about Lord Skrolk army composition : - Lord Skrolk - 1 Hero Warlock engineer w/ artillery buffing traits - 4 PLagueclaw catapults (OP, does hyper high morale damage) - 4 plague monks (2 normal - 2 censer bearers) - 2 Spear stormvermin - 2 sword and shield Stormvermin - 2 Gutter runner w/ poison - 2 Night runners - 1 Doomwheel - 1 Rat Ogre // Hellpit abomination If you don't like it, don't use it. It's just an advice ^^
And for a Grey seer army : - Lord (grey seer -ruin) - Hero (assassin) - 4 Night runner - 4 gutter runners (poison) - 2 Rat Ogres - 2 Hellpit abomination - 4 Spear stormvermin - 2 Clanrats (spear & shield) Again, this is only an advice
And for a Warlord army : - Lord (warlord) - Hero (plague priest) - 4 clanrats (spear and shield) - 4 gutter runners (poison) - 1 Rat Ogre - 1 Doomwheel - 2 Warp lightning - 4 Warpfire throwers - 2 Night runners // plague monks (censer bearers) Again, this is only an advice
You can still auto resolve your way through a campaign, but at least now it randomly kills off you units. Meaning it's not worth the risk once you have units you don't want randomly killed.
Damn that idecision of yours! If you push south, defeat that lonely lizardmen city and focus on lizards on east-north, that would save you a lot of troubles. Painful to watch troubles :p Otherways - fun vid ;)
oui oui steal take.. loot loot lord thing -master MAster Skaven Pestilences are coming -more scurries chittering paws for the lair..oui,oui toss rocks gather warpstone oui oui cold things riches for the horned rat ;3 [ thank you for dinner This game that we animals play is a winner]
I’ve actually had trouble with the Eye campaign as the Skaven. It’s been a while, but I have found that they seem better in the Mortal Empires campaign than the Eye one.
I saw someone somewhere say, that the way CA had buffed LL casters this time, was by letting them use fewer points to get the powerfull effects of spells. So fx Skrolk can put 1 point into Wither and get the same benefits as a Plague Priest who has put 2 points into Wither.. Could you check it out and see if that's acurate? And also see how a Grey Seers point destribution works, they are caster lords after all, unlike Priests who are Hero rank.
Blessed with filth acts on all targets in the area not only enemy units so the best use is probably to pin down an enemy with a very cheap units, maybe slaves or clanrats and then shoot it from afar whilst the rats won´t die that fast.
when you in your land, you should use local recruitment rather than global because global cost higher and both need the same amount of time to finish the recruitment
I know this is a personal gripe about something that is likely to happen, but the fact that no one seems to understand the Bless of Filth spell is the most frustrating thing in the world.
Same with the fact that most youtubers forget that Skaven settlements only show up as ruins to enemies until they discover them. So no its not weird AI when they walk past your settlement. They just dont know youre there!
Hi Lionheart, I don't know how this would be represented in the game and the grand campaign but here's a general guide as to how Skaven relationships with other races go. Close friends: None Allies of Convience (aka they may ally for a common cause but it will be uneasy and only a matter of time before one backstabs the other). Dark Elves, Chaos Warriors/Norsca, GreenskIns, Rogue Humans, Vampires and other Skaven. Fight to the Death (Factions who would never never side with the ratmen even if it cost them their lives): Dwarves, High and Wood Elves, Empire, Bretonnia and Lizardmen. No known relations (Either the skaven haven't had any real wars with these races or they havent really met them). Ogre Kingdoms, Tomb Kings (likely DLC for TWW2), and Chaos Dwarves. As I said, this may likely change in gameplay and I speak only from a Lore perspective. Either way I love your videos and keep up the great work.
You know what I know I'm here 5 years late but I've only just gotten into the game, I hated the idea of the skaven and now I'm playing as them.... God they're fun 😂😂😂 the ability to shock them with random troop placement? Their little stutters have become endearing... I think I've been corrupted 😂
Your machination will be fruitless. The rat-spawn will be purged from the world, along with all the unwanted creatures. The coldbloods are the true children of the Old Ones, destined for greatness and superiority. Nothing will stop the hunting cohorts from annihilating every vermin from existence, and soon the mighty Sotek will swallow the horned god itself. Such is the demand of the Great Plan.
Just got this game a few weeks ago and found your channel. Very informative all-around. This video taught me more of the mechanics for Skaven, thanks. Also "thanks" when you were admiring the background. I have 3 top of the line Macs and have to run this game on the lowest settings. Unfortunately my work requires me to operate on Macs and I don't game enough to warrant a dedicated PC.
Select the group of units you want in a band using ctrl and click, then hold control and press a number to assign that group. Then just press that number and it will select all of those units.
I have never played Skaven before but I have watched campaigns of them and it’s the only time I hear the people playing say “oh your really low” when the unit has only lost not even a quarter of the bar

lionheartx10 I don't know if you know much of the lore Lionhearth, but what do you think of a War of Vengeance mini-campaign?
ambush masters scaven
You need to keep legendary leader out of your own provinces cause he is constantly spreading corruption
Lionheart, Bless with filth gives units poison attacks, it doesn't just poison the enemy
the spell: blessing of filth embeds poison attacks on allies, it does not make the enemy become poisoned
This needs more likes .
glad someone else spotted that. it's a buff not a hex. :) funny as lionheart was actually trying to cast it ti not "catch" his troops in the 1st battle :)

The Skrull chronicles 1...
"Skrull!!"
Skrull Whitepelt of Clan Skyre looked up from his meager holdings as he wore some meager clothing for a clanrat.
You are useless-useless and should be a slave-slave!"
"You are below even-even slaves, Moras! You-you would be Skaven slave-slave slave!"
The two rats were currently in their group of clanrats as both groups now jeered and goaded the two to fight.
You pY-pay for my eye-eye!"
"I pay nothing but cold-cold steel-steel!" Shouted Skrull as he then took up his spear and threw it as hard as he could.
Finally getting around to reading these. Time to go through them all in a sitting!

I realy love these Warhammer factions intros. Developers did a realy good job with them.
Yes! The voice acting, music and sound effects, visuals, everything is top notch and makes me be fully emersed every single time.
I'm gonna be pretty annoyed if none of his skaven slaves are named '12 years a Skave'
Don't be foolish, a 12 year old slave is rarer than a bearded elf.
2 days a Skave then, fuck the reference.
why not just say 12 days a Skave?
That will made more sense idea.
(Any rumor that in fact that many escaped and were later killed by a garrison force left behind while Lord Skrolk celebrated his victory are lies-lies told by other skaven to unjustly elevate themselves, and are punishable by being consumed alive by wolf-rats after hours of agonizing experimentation.)
After commanding a Grey Seer (Ulcess the Vomitus) to take command of The Sentinel, Lord Skrolk (may his diplomatic skills ever outwit the foolish) began to send peaceful envoys to the inferior Clan Spittil, that we might mutually agree-agree to not kill each other (for now).
We also moved to secure the surrounding lands by taking a northern reptile-thing settlement at last-last, finding a trove of valued warpstone that we might finally begin ritual preparations!
TheBType why
As an example of what I mean here is a interpretation of one of your sentences how I would write such (for purpose of comprehension of what I mean/want to help improve)
'After search-seeking South and watch-seeing the reptile-things advance-march towards us, Lord Skrolk, (may his wise-smart tactics always bring-take us victory) intelligently request-told us that we should run-scurry to the North and hide-wait in surprise-ambush for the stupid-foolish reptile-things!'
I feel like I may have something wrong with that, due to lack of experience with writing much, however it feels to me that it flows much more like a Skaven sentence and I don't think I damaged the meaning of the sentence much if I did. Also from what I know about Queekish (the language of Skaven in-universe, though I don't know if it was used much outside of the tabletop RPG, not sure) due to the speed they speak long sentences generally get fragmented somewhat and need to be pieced together to get the coherent sentences, with high speed of speech and double words carried over to other languages, though I don't know if the fragmentation of sentences carries over outside of their own language and would probably hurt comprehension more than it would help so I haven't attempted adding that.
someone needs to make a book of all of those comments

History of the Vermintide: Pt: 1
As the Skaven watched over their Under Empire in anger after their defeat against the Empire and Wood Elves at Battle of Remarche, the Second Skaven Civil War and finally the Unification of the Under Empire by the Great Horned Rat; the Council of 13 had finally found their chance to strike back at the Overworld for their sins in the face of the Horned Rat.

How to start a rebellion as a Skaven Faction quickly: Rename your second General: Herpes "The Bad Itch" and then watch as you lose half your army in a rebellion. I mean either it's a complete coincidence....or these guys are really living inside the game! :O
Hmmm
hey lionheart, some advice i don't know if you've already gotten. if you're engaging an army for the second time, avoid killing the lord. if you kill the lord, it'll count as a new army, and they'll get to retreat indefinitely. keep the enemy lord alive for two consecutive wins, and the enemy army will be destroyed
That's about as counter-intuitive as it gets, eh? Do worse, get better results.
Are you serious ?! That's a pretty retarded mechanic if that's true...
You would think the army would disband when their leader is dead, not the other way around.
For some reason watching all these new Lionheart campaigns makes me think of the Rome 2 war cry, "Hail to the mother".

ALL HAIL THE HORNED RAT
I think Lord Skrolks second spell is one that buffs allies in range giving them poison attacks 30:15
Just discovered your channel. Love your style and effort. Thanks for the content!
Thank you!! :)

I've always been an Orc guy myself. BUT THOSE RATSIES ARE SO ADORABLE AND CUDDLELY! ❤🐀🐀🐀❤
Not yet watched the episode, but I give you an advice about Lord Skrolk army composition :
- Lord Skrolk
- 1 Hero Warlock engineer w/ artillery buffing traits
- 4 PLagueclaw catapults (OP, does hyper high morale damage)
- 4 plague monks (2 normal - 2 censer bearers)
- 2 Spear stormvermin
- 2 sword and shield Stormvermin
- 2 Gutter runner w/ poison
- 2 Night runners
- 1 Doomwheel
- 1 Rat Ogre // Hellpit abomination
If you don't like it, don't use it. It's just an advice ^^
And for a Grey seer army :
- Lord (grey seer -ruin)
- Hero (assassin)
- 4 Night runner
- 4 gutter runners (poison)
- 2 Rat Ogres
- 2 Hellpit abomination
- 4 Spear stormvermin
- 2 Clanrats (spear & shield)
Again, this is only an advice
And for a Warlord army :
- Lord (warlord)
- Hero (plague priest)
- 4 clanrats (spear and shield)
- 4 gutter runners (poison)
- 1 Rat Ogre
- 1 Doomwheel
- 2 Warp lightning
- 4 Warpfire throwers
- 2 Night runners // plague monks (censer bearers)
Again, this is only an advice
Great race and great start - so many ambushes.
You can still auto resolve your way through a campaign, but at least now it randomly kills off you units. Meaning it's not worth the risk once you have units you don't want randomly killed.
I have no idea how are you doing this. Lizards are beating me so hard :D

It seems it would be a good idea to build an agent to scout and colonize the cities, so you don't have the army spend two turns recovering.
I love the skaven. YES YES! ;D

Blessed by Filth is something you cast on your own troops it lowers all the stuff but gives them lots of poison damage.
you made your own little hornet's nest in the battle
skaven remind me so much of the Goblins faction in Middle-Earth: Battle for Middle-Earth 2
Lionheart later in the campaign you should create an army of only scaven slaves to colonise ruins
Colonization with skavens doesn't cost troops. It only costs food
Aoh. Sorry i told u shit. It doesn't cost MORE troops to colonize at higher level
I mean when it is a ruin not a settlement that was previously owned
You can both occupy and recolonize at high level with food
Ever Heard of Dynamic Clouds our Lord and Saviour? [Lionheart every single video]
Doom wheel is the ultimate drive-by
I thought I wasn't going to like the Skaven, but I think they are my favorite faction🐀🐁🐀🐁🐀🐁🐀
Bless with filth doesn't poison enemy units it just gives your own units poison attacks.
2:25 to get to the actual start of the video
Tim the underway enchanter.
You make me wanna get Warhammer 2! :)
Finaly Skavens :D Pestilence to everyone :D
I'd love to see a Warhammer 40K version of Total War. I'd love to purge the heresy of the enemy!
40:02 lhx10 is Skaven confirmed *Yes-yes*
Not Dooom engineer, but dooooooooooom engineer!
that spell you got Lionheartx10 is for your units u add poison attack on them =)
Skaven? You must mean some kind of beastmen. Now to call the witch hunters.
jeeeeeez the voice acting great
Blessed with filth acts on all targets in the area not only enemy units so the best use is probably to pin down an enemy with a very cheap units, maybe slaves or clanrats and then shoot it from afar whilst the rats won´t die that fast.
28:36 my maturity was tested...
great game keep it up man
when you in your land, you should use local recruitment rather than global because global cost higher and both need the same amount of time to finish the recruitment
I envy your load times
That's a SSD for you, bought one myself not too long ago - it really helps!
Hi Lionheart, I don't know how this would be represented in the game and the grand campaign but here's a general guide as to how Skaven relationships with other races go.
Close friends: None
Allies of Convience (aka they may ally for a common cause but it will be uneasy and only a matter of time before one backstabs the other).
Skaven are at war with Tomb Kings.
Kazrael Azraelis Okay thanks. I wasnt sure. I know Ogres are neutral since they are mercs
I'm still not sure if Queek or Kroq-Gar should be my first army.....can't wait for either one though.
So nice lion!
Hank or fluffy = the hell pit abomination
I fuckin love the skaven🐀
I would think anti large would somewhat work on the lizardmen lords because they are on the large side.
I can't get on that website so I'll send it to you here
Da little fast staby thingys this is a name for night runners
The shaven speaking makes me lol
I've been wondering how you target multiple armies in a single click?
21:43
Great video and I learned a lot
+1 subs
Select the group of units you want in a band using ctrl and click, then hold control and press a number to assign that group. Then just press that number and it will select all of those units.
I have never played Skaven before but I have watched campaigns of them and it’s the only time I hear the people playing say “oh your really low” when the unit has only lost not even a quarter of the bar
