Having seen both at Best Buy in person and messing around with them the sony colors seem more realistic and the detail is significantly better. The S90D gets brighter a bit, but in most things it seemed negligible at best.
I see differences in color which I have difficulty in choosing without going to the reference for final judgement. However the ability to see detail goes to the Sony. If the Sony gets up in its QD-OLEDs by generating more brightness by increasing color, and applies XR Clear, Sony would take Samsung plus Dolby Vision. DV could be the simplest handler of 4000 nits. But for this contest, I want to see the reference in a three-way. Sorry to be selfish😉

I don’t game at all. 90% of the time I watch TV is at night. Thanks in advance for replying!
well, while the video is great, as a buyer of both S90D and A80L i can say it is somewhat limited and thus misleading. i cannot tell for sure about 77" vs 83" but i can tell for sure about 65" vs 65". two weeks ago i bought S90D and after couple of days decided to return it. in general the Tizen OS is not good, the image processing is arguable so i decided to switch to Sony. as it is complicated to get A95L in my country i went after A80L. so what can i truly say: 1. overall image quality of Sony is more accurate 2. both TVs shine showing HDR content 3. S90D works the same for HDR and SDR content 4. A80L is awful on SDR content. oh my god how dim it is! unbelievable. it can be suitable only for dark dark rooms 5. the Google TV allows to install good apps (for instance Kodi) but overall performance of apps is not that great (comparing to TV box) 6. A80L aggressively manages white color and the image brightness is always floating. this is very unsatisfying so i returned A80L back and got S90D back and i'm very happy now. some outcomes: 1. unfortunately there is no chance to get rid of TV Box so far. I use NVidia Shield Pro and none of these two TVs can work better than it 2. i wonder what A95L would do on SDR as it has panel same as S90D and image processing same as A80L. it must be great 3. A80L has limited usability. If you watch HRD content - go ahead. if you watch SDR streaming, (most of the) youtube videos, play content from DLNA and/or local storage - i don't see A80L as competitor for S90D in terms of joy 4. S90D is not that perfect TV - awful limited software, silly remote. but if you just watch major streaming services like Netflix or have good TV box - it can be a good choice (don't also forget price difference).
Do you live in Greenland or something 🤔 😛 A95L is almost 2 years out on the market ... but your right, its probably the better tv when compared to the S90D. Same panel and brightness but better Sony processing, better remote, better build in sound, etc.
But also keep in mind with Bri having the 83" A80L. As he has expressed, it has the a90j chassis, glossy panel, along with a heat sink. So essentially his TV is somewhat of an a90j with XR clear. So his will be somewhat brighter than the 65" variant of the A80L that doesn't have any of that
@@Kivancli79 i live in Ukraine. apart from the war that complicate things there are actual differences between different Sony factories and their target countries. for instance, in Ukraine it is easy to buy A95L manufactured on the factory in Slovakia. however the nuance with that production is that it uses not exactly the same panel as for units being sold in United States. the factory in Slovakia target more budget markets (like Egypt, Turkey and so on). so if you want to get 'true' A95L you need to get the unit manufactured in Malaysia. as long as it is officially not sold in Ukraine you can get it unofficially (there are companies that can deliver it). pricewise it would be more than twice times more expensive than S90D (approx. $5k vs $2k). so at the moment i decided to go with S90D. i don't think that a bit better picture worth that. PS. btw, retailers say they experience lots of returns for A95L here in Ukraine because of various quality issues, up to 30%.
the sony just looks more realistic but still pops and is vibrant. it just looks like the right colors you are supposed to see and they are, not always brighter but deeper
Honestly I have to give this one to the QD Oled. The Samsung has the advantage of the QD technology, but the Sony still has depth. It's a tough one though. I would say if you want size and image depth go with the A80L. If you want pop and vibrancy, go with the Samsung.
It is so hard to decide, I still use a 42 inch LED TV and I feel it should be time to get a big TV. But prices in China are so different from the rest of the world it seems. I'm still deciding to buy one this year or next year... but here are the current prices, based on that, what should be a best buy in price/performance. I will convert prices into EURO. The 77 inch G4 goes for 7100 EURO. That one is actually absurd, way over my budget. The 77 inch S90D in China is NOT a QD OLED, so let's ignore that one. The 77 inch S95D goes for 2950 EURO. The Bravia 8 77 inch goes for 3500 EURO. The 83 inch A80L goes for 3500 EURO. Funny how the Bravia 8 77 inch and 83A80L are similar priced. And let us bring the mini led shall we: The Bravia 9 85 inch goes for 4200 EURO. The TCL X11H (the real flagship over the QM851G) goes now for 2600 EURO. My living room is very easy to light control, we have one big window and it is on the East Side, so when it is TV time, sun is long gone and all our lights are in the ceiling, so no direct light into the TV.
Hey Brian: As a really smart TV guy why do you even bother comparing OVERALL quality and OVERALL accuracy and upscaling of ANY other brand TVs with SONY? It's never been that close and it never will be. Just talk about price differences because that is what a lot of people are making decisions on buying the 2nd and 3rd tier brands. Personally I just buy last years SONYs on sale like the X80K (55 inch for $399) and A80CL (65 inch for $1699).
Financially speaking, unless Black Friday sales are stellar, I think the best I could do to replace my year-and-a-half old 50" LG QNED would be a 65" model. One thing I want is Dolby Vision, which would rule out anything from Samsung, but I've never had an OLED TV and would like to get one. The A95L is so pricy, though I may not be able to get one, although it would be my choice at the moment. I'd put the 50" somewhere else , though...NOT get rid of it.
We need to be patient with the same Micro Leds Displays Technology! It will eventually surpasses the current QD-Oled or WRGB Oled Televisions Displays Technology for sure ❤😂!

@andrewwallace9485 Yes, but because the many millions of tiny pixel sized elements in a Micro-LED TV have to be individually placed in very precise positions, no one has figured out yet how to significantly reduce the tremendous production costs involved in manufacturing Micro-LED TVs. That's why an 89" Micro-LED TV is now selling for the very out of reach price (for 98% of Americans) of a cool $80,000, for that size Micro-LED TV! And that's just for a 4k Micro-LED TV! And since an 8k Micro-LED TV would have 4 times as many pixels as a 4k Micro-LED TV has, those much more tiny pixels would turn the challenge of coming up with a manufacturing process for making 8k Micro-LED TVs that could sell for significantly less than $200,000, become a goal that no one could reach until many, many years from now. That's why, here in 2024, no one is even working on prototypes for possible 8k Micro-LED TV models of the future!
I thought the Sony looked better overall in picture quality. I was considering the Samsung S90D until I found out it doesn’t support Dolby Vision. So I think I’ve narrowed it down to Sony A80L 65” (currently $1,500 at Best Buy) or the TCL QM851G 75” ($1,500 when on sale). I did see an open box Samsung S90C 65” ($1,218 at Best Buy - Excellent Condition) What’s your opinion on these choices.
Sony probably better at motion n upscaling. However, I'm very drawn to the highlights of the Samsung. I know the camera can't pick up all the highlight details, so I'd assume areas That look pure white on camera and overexposed, is due to the camera. I just can't say id prefer the Sony, simply due to the wow factor of highlights the Samsung gives
You should also know that good Technology 👍 truly takes a long time to get better for sure! OMoled or WRGB Oled Televisions Displays Technology was also very expensive price point over ten years ago, but it is truly not better than the Micro Leds Displays Technology uses Sapphire materials that are truly stronger and last longer as well for sure 👍!
I am honestly going to save funds for the Micro Led Displays Televisions Displays Technology instead of Organic QD-OLED or the WRGB Oled Organic Material Products degradation Televisions 📺 Displays Technology!
At the 83" size you could just get a new OLED every couple of years and stay current for like the next 40 years for the price of a current micro led TV. But you do you 👌
As is always always always the case….Sony looks clearly more natural. The Samsung looks, comparatively, artificially contrasty (or ‘crunchy’ as I’ve come to term that look). I’d give up some brightness for a more natural realistic presentation. To each their own though keyboard warriors.

I have 65 inch LZ1500, my upgrade will be 83 Panasonic, however that maybe it will be impossible, for that maybe i have to take 83 Sony! but always Panasonic and oled!!!
The colors seems to be so much vibrant and true on the A80L.
Yep
what are you talking about, Samsung beats sony with color all day
Good job Gay, about review comperation among television Samsung and Sony
Leeeeeeeeeeets #go 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
S90D for me, between the two - but getting the S95D
You'll be very happy! Thank you for watching!
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPYhi Brian! I’m coming from a 75” Sony Z9D that I couldn’t bring with me when I moved out of my parent’s house to another state. Are the 85” Hisense U8N and the 85” TCL 2024 QM8 good options? or should I save up and wait to get the 77” Sony A95L, the 85” Bravia 9 or the 83” LG G4 on Black Friday? I mainly stream movies and shows on 1080p, watch a few soccer games here and there and play 4k blu-ray movies 2 or 3 times a month through my Panasonic DP-UB820. I don’t game at all. 90% of the time I watch TV is at night. Thanks in advance for replying!
I would suggest looking into the Bravia 8 before you pull the trigger.
@drunkhusband6257 nah. I already choose the S95D over the G4, which is arguably the best TV made in 2024
@@ehenningsen It could be, I just can't stand the semi matte finish, and I don't think the colors are very accurate.
well, while the video is great, as a buyer of both S90D and A80L i can say it is somewhat limited and thus misleading.
i cannot tell for sure about 77" vs 83" but i can tell for sure about 65" vs 65".
two weeks ago i bought S90D and after couple of days decided to return it. in general the Tizen OS is not good, the image processing is arguable so i decided to switch to Sony. as it is complicated to get A95L in my country i went after A80L.
so what can i truly say:
1. overall image quality of Sony is more accurate
2. both TVs shine showing HDR content
3. S90D works the same for HDR and SDR content
4. A80L is awful on SDR content. oh my god how dim it is! unbelievable. it can be suitable only for dark dark rooms
5. the Google TV allows to install good apps (for instance Kodi) but overall performance of apps is not that great (comparing to TV box)
6. A80L aggressively manages white color and the image brightness is always floating. this is very unsatisfying
so i returned A80L back and got S90D back and i'm very happy now.
some outcomes:
1. unfortunately there is no chance to get rid of TV Box so far. I use NVidia Shield Pro and none of these two TVs can work better than it
2. i wonder what A95L would do on SDR as it has panel same as S90D and image processing same as A80L. it must be great
3. A80L has limited usability. If you watch HRD content - go ahead. if you watch SDR streaming, (most of the) youtube videos, play content from DLNA and/or local storage - i don't see A80L as competitor for S90D in terms of joy
4. S90D is not that perfect TV - awful limited software, silly remote. but if you just watch major streaming services like Netflix or have good TV box - it can be a good choice (don't also forget price difference).
Many return their S90D because of its motion. Frame skipping, Stutter or Soap Opera. How do you find its motion? (In 24p content)
@@eevox well, the motion is not that great indeed by default. but this is where my TV box helps
The sony looks significantly better to me, I need to go back to Best Buy to look at the new Bravia 8 since it's even better than the A80L
Honestly I have to give this one to the QD Oled. The Samsung has the advantage of the QD technology, but the Sony still has depth. It's a tough one though. I would say if you want size and image depth go with the A80L. If you want pop and vibrancy, go with the Samsung.
Sony❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
And let us bring the mini led shall we:
The Bravia 9 85 inch goes for 4200 EURO.
The TCL X11H (the real flagship over the QM851G) goes now for 2600 EURO.
My living room is very easy to light control, we have one big window and it is on the East Side, so when it is TV time, sun is long gone and all our lights are in the ceiling, so no direct light into the TV.
Trust me the a80l looks amazing.... But you literally have to have one to really see the difference. I have both and I find myself neglecting my WOLED
What do you mean? You don’t use the Sony as much as the Samsung?
Hey Brian: As a really smart TV guy why do you even bother comparing OVERALL quality and OVERALL accuracy and upscaling of ANY other brand TVs with SONY? It's never been that close and it never will be. Just talk about price differences because that is what a lot of people are making decisions on buying the 2nd and 3rd tier brands. Personally I just buy last years SONYs on sale like the X80K (55 inch for $399) and A80CL (65 inch for $1699).
Samsung S90D💣💣💣🔥🔥🔥
Financially speaking, unless Black Friday sales are stellar, I think the best I could do to replace my year-and-a-half old 50" LG QNED would be a 65" model. One thing I want is Dolby Vision, which would rule out anything from Samsung, but I've never had an OLED TV and would like to get one. The A95L is so pricy, though I may not be able to get one, although it would be my choice at the moment. I'd put the 50" somewhere else , though...NOT get rid of it.
Sony 95l looks like the best choice
I thought Sony was gonna stop making QD OLED?
We need to be patient with the same Micro Leds Displays Technology! It will eventually surpasses the current QD-Oled or WRGB Oled Televisions Displays Technology for sure ❤😂!
Il faudra être patient pour le prix ensuite feront il microled 55 pouces ?
after buying a G4, i couldnt get it to have colors like what im seeying in your screens ive tried a few videos on youtube HDR 8k and i couldnt get any remotely close in vibrancy then what u have on both those 2 tvs... i dont know if my G4 55 inch is broken but for a 3100$ tv im ready to return it. i tried to watch the expanse and my TN panel 24 inch monitor was much better with the colors and Tn panels are Garbage... even my old samsung tv 8 years old 6 seriess has better color... my G4 is destroying on the Brightness front for sure.. but color wise this G4 is not close to what i was hoping it would do. id rather keep my old 8 year old samsung but its dying so i must replace it... but ill go back to SAmsung and Never touch an LG tv if this is what it looks like what i have .. its shameful to call it a top of the line product when it looks faded flat... dark scenes not bright enought and i know those scenes of the show the expanse ive seen them on multiple monitors and TVs. unfortunately the LG was not delivering at all. i rate my G4 a severe 5/10. i bought a 48Gb hdmi 2.1 even to be sure... and unfortunatly this didnt seem to help and for youtube well the TV should have the full bandwith in my wifi 6e with my router. ive tried to mess with some settings did some white balance 20 points from Rthings to try to help have better whites.. tried multiple modes mostly hanging with filmaker mode. i love the Fact that the QD which is what i was looking at prior was really beautiful instores for then s90s. the C4 which i saw in store did seemed more vibrant then the s90d to my eye ... but once i got home with the G4 .. that C4 seems better then my G4... i dont know how to explain it or what they did to it ... but at no point did the G4 gave me a time where i said WOW!!! ... not fricking one.. except for the fact that blacks are pure. and highlights are bright... other then that this is the only positive i can give my G4. unless someone can tell me is there a secret setting that makes the tv way better color poping and vibrant cause i see nothing vibrant not even natures 4k-8k videos where videos of Perrots should be very color full not dull... a friend of mine came over was think i am crazy as its a top of the line ...he saw my G4 in person was also unimpressed with it no color popin at all. its lifeless. :( also considering the more expensive S95D but the coating might ruin everthing as its next to a window.,,, and my other last but very expensive option QNs900D but thats much more expensive :(
Both look great. But i like the brightness of the Samsung
The Micro Leds Displays Technology do not suffer from Image Retention degradation over time!
the technology doesn’t rely on organic materials so it’s far more durable and can reach higher brightness levels without the fear of degradation.
@andrewwallace9485
Yes, but because the many millions of tiny pixel sized elements in a Micro-LED TV have to be individually placed in very precise positions, no one has figured out yet how to significantly reduce the tremendous production costs involved in manufacturing Micro-LED TVs.
I actually prefer the A80L , don't like the pinkish tint on the S90D or any of the QD-OLED's.
I did see an open box Samsung S90C 65” ($1,218 at Best Buy - Excellent Condition)
What’s your opinion on these choices.
Be careful , 77s90d is not QD in Australia.
A80l vs Bravia 8 comparisons would be the best one
Sony Fan Boy here.
The A80L has better and more realistic colors than the S90D.
A80l is no where s90d
Sony has to improve or reduce prices
I am honestly going to save funds for the Micro Led Displays Televisions Displays Technology instead of Organic QD-OLED or the WRGB Oled Organic Material Products degradation Televisions 📺 Displays Technology!
At the 83" size you could just get a new OLED every couple of years and stay current for like the next 40 years for the price of a current micro led TV.
But you do you 👌
Rich nibba.
As is always always always the case….Sony looks clearly more natural. The Samsung looks, comparatively, artificially contrasty (or ‘crunchy’ as I’ve come to term that look). I’d give up some brightness for a more natural realistic presentation. To each their own though keyboard warriors.
I like the Sony pictures
I like s90d better than a80l and bravia 8,,,S90d after trade in now can be purchased for around $2000 so it is a no brainer, Sony has to drop these prices or they will be eaten alive by LG and Samsung
Samsung Micro Leds or LG Micro Leds Displays Technology are truly better Television Displays 📺 Technology warranty!
Hey my man are u sure u have a true QD-OLED tv cause the S90D has lottery panel u can use a "loupes" to check the dot quatum
55", 65", and 77" S90Ds are all qdoled
