Hi, could you please give me a bit help here? I’m living in Australia and I can only get A80L from Sony website and it’s on a good deal at the moment , I’m looking for a 77 inch oled. A80L is $3700 and the Bravia 8 is $5700 Samsung S90D $3900. Is it worth getting the Bravia 8 for extra 2K? It seems like it’s not. I’m happy with the picture quality of s90D but my only concern is the lack of Dolby Vision, I do notice with my old LCD the Dolby Vision made a huge difference but I’m concerned that if it’s that much between S90D vs A80L? If it’s not I might go for the S90D apparently Samsung’s QD-OLED is very impressive. Thank you!
@@bohanzhang3896 if you can confirm the S90D ins QD OLED in Australia then it is far superior. Dolby vision is not needed on these TVs and HDR 10 is just as good.
That's basically what happens with every manufacturer 80% of the time. Year over year improvements are typically minor upgrades to the the current models specs. Also where are you seeing that the a80l is half the price off the bravia 8? The 55" a80l is currently $1200 vs $1600 for the b8, the 65" is $1500 vs $1900 & the 77" are both $3000.
True, but the actual difference is the same in most cases especially with OLED. Even though most of the time I perceived Bravia 8 to be the brighter TV most of the time especially in game mode, and for movies and tv observations they definitely looked to change the tone mapping a little from last year.
Got the 77" Bravia 8 coming Tuesday. Coming from a 65" A80J that I paid only a couple hundred less for 3 years ago. A80J is still going strong just wanted the size upgrade and some of the newer features. The LG's and Samsung's might be a little cheaper but I think Sony's look the best.

Great comparison, this should help many make a decision. On non gamimg the b8 is seems a bit brighter in whites here and there and occasional color but overall for color the a80l destyoys it too often to be an upgrade. Seems as much a horizontal upgrade as verticle. The b8 coloring is sometimes distinctly muted right next to its sibling. Does one get the perhaps needed extra occasional brightness or the often more striking color. Where the a80l wins with color it seems to win big. Xr clear aside they seem like very different tvs.
