I've got one of these, but mine is from 2019. Absolutely love it. My wife made me promise to quit smoking before I headed out the door to go buy it. 13 months later, I've stuck to that promise.
Those “Staple” pickups are highly underrated, but if you removed it you’d understand why they stopped using them (need to rout really deep into the body.)
It was introduced in late 1954 and abandoned overnight when Seth Lover’s humbucking PAF pickup was introduced, less than two years later, changing everything.
It’s gotta be amazing playing all these great axes! The knowledge one can gain from simply sitting for a few minutes and messing around with the myriad of neck profiles must be useful.
Lemmo nice to see you doing your thing but also getting out of your own box to spread your musical wings a little more and try and do different things Keep Going and Keep Growing spread your musical wings and soar to new heights!
I've never played through a HiWatt but I think your idea is stellar. Personally I would go with a 4x10 Bassman. That amp and an amp modeler is absolute heaven.
I‘m wondering if Lemmo plays the guitars before he shoots the video-opening. He knows everything about the guitar (how it sounds, etc.) right before he actually plays it :D
Sweet and chime with the Staple pickup. With all the distortion in the world I really enjoy fine playing with a clean sound. In fact it's my favorite. Great to see so much enthusiasm.
That's a beautiful Les Paul custom. Never seen one with that exact pickup-configuration of a staple in neck position and P90 in the bridge position before.
I was expecting him to say "clean af" as he was showing that one in the back room. Did he plan his outfit for this guitar...black on black on black on black😅😅😅 Loved both of those pickups! I don't think I've ever seen a staple pickup on here, so that was new...and very nice!
i have one. found it used on reverb-it had been “relic’d” by an amateur-realized after i got it something wasn’t right-the smoke-yellow “aged” lacquer was flaking off. sent it to kim at historic makeovers and he redid it properly. now it looks frickin amazing and of course, as this demo shows, the staple and p90 combo is killer. mine’s a tad heavy but the tone...The tone!
Mate, thats my Firebird1s description 😁. I actually have the first reissue of these guitars. I used it in a 50s sort of gig. A Slim Gaillard sort if thing.
I always liked the pre-humbucker LP Customs. The tune on the staple pickup could be a Steely Dan song. Nice playing as always on another killer guitar.
nice versatility , with the nice clean tones from the staple p/u , but still got the crunch and classic LP sound from the p90 , great color , no humbucker is a little bit of a drawback , but I luv the sound of this guitar , great playing as always Michael , thanks guys
Nice! Very sweet picking, Mr. Lemmo. Just when I think every guitar should be a Fender, I hear a Les Paul like this. The '54/ P90s Les Paul maybe my favorite guitar ever. Too bad I will (likely) never own one.
Got a 1974 Deluxe Pro; black with maple neck. Great guitar and sounds with the dual P90's! The downside is that it weighs 12 lb 8 oz! The only player I've seen that used one is Mark McEntee of the Diviynls.
Back in 1970 2 friends & I had a house on the top of Laurel Canyon for the summer... My mate and I (me on drums and him playing an historic '54) jammed away the days. No money so we'd go down into Hollywood and steal fruit and avocados to go with our rice... Our lady would cook and egg us on... P.D.Ouspensky and rock 'n roll (!)
Never heard of a guy named Lemmo:But my former tech.which was Nugent's guitar tech said I had a" Limo" MEANING it's a limited edition of the 62'USA Custom shop only 50 made.Sounds good...

Fuck yeah dude.
Wow!! 🎉 good for you man
Excellent trade dude.
What about now
Ya' just don't hear a Les Paul clean like that very often.
Beautiful sound.
I've never seen anyone play the guitar like Lemmo before....... dude has his own unique style... i respect it
It has such a beautiful deep tone for jazz . Amazing.
Les Paul himself played this one in his shows.
Jim Hall and Pat Martino played a Les Paul Custom in Early Days.
Lemmo really is a master of his craft. Technically great, many different styles, always entertaining. Brilliant
I'm sounding stupid & newer to channel, but who / what's a "Lemmo"?
@@jimkostan9932 Lemmo is the family name of Michael who is doing the demos of the guitars at Norman’s rare guitars. The man on the video. :)

Lemmo + P90’s = Magic
Lemmo = magic
More like, magic is Lemmo! 🤘

This is my all-time most favorite Gibson (original or reissue).
So much interesting History of why it turned out the way it did.

Michael can play and brings out each instrument’s unique qualities. His noodling is insane
Probably the cleanest sounding Les Paul I've ever heard. An a gorgeous all-black finish, nicely played by Lemmo. HABEN WOLLEN !!!
That staple pickup was awesome! Nice job Michael, made me want one.
I love the unique playing today! It’s great to hear some variety in Lemmos Insane playing
I would match that with a vintage HiWatt amp in a heartbeat.

@@photopicker It's a Pete Townshend thing.
I happen to have that very combination. Sounds great!
Breathtakingly beautiful...
I hear a little "Take Five" there around 4:42. Lemmo should do his own version of that old jazz legend.
I'm in love with the clean sounds of this guitar, seems like I found my dream guitar. Thanks Lemmo for giving it justice! 🙌🏼
Good luck buying it lol, these babies are really expensive sadly
Lemmo makes that clean LP Custom sing. So Good!

They do shoot the Backroom stuff after the Demo play, they've said that a few times.

For me the best looking guitar out there. Yes there are others that come close but that's my favorite.
Also, the sound aint too shabby as well..
Lovely playing an a lovely gittar.

Awesome as always Lemmo. Thanks
Love the neck pickup sound so amazing ❤
Awesome playing!
nice playing Lemmo! and great coordination of the black outfit with black beauty...
That baby sounds awesome the player is good to. Gods blessings for you and all the employees be safe

Brother Mike like the black les Paul your playing is very smooth great work .
That thing is a killing machine. Love staple pups, or as I call them, ghost in the machine pickups. That P90 is righteous.
Wow 😲 really nice tones

that might be your best guitar under the Lemmo era.
Mr. Lemmo is a fantastic player. Really great demo of this. Really does it justice
the moment he said this '54 P90 equipped Custom has weight relief, im in
Sounds so good
Nice. Love the look of the neck and head stock. Some of the nicest licks Lemmo’s played on a Les Paul.
awesome guitar.
Put the Comercial in between the songs please please
Ok, it's a '54 reissue. But when was it built?
Sounds like Built To Last at 4:09 ⚡️🎸⚡️
Super duper thriller killer 👌
Sounds alot like a Bozz Skaggs tune.Mike is an inspiration all his own.A real guitar star in my book and seems to be super cool.
Box Scaggs
Just les mécaniques qui change pour le restes allez cool , Moi j'ai le model 57 avec deux micros , 10 exemplaire seulement , j'a la N° 2 sur 10
It will take a long time but some day I will have it
A really cool guitar
Imagine a telecaster with a tele bridge pu, and then a staple neck pu. Currently I have a Seymour Duncan ‘59 humbucker in my neck position but 😏
🖤🖤🖤 ma kinda lp!
good show !
Please bring on a 1977 black beauty Les pail custom
Did Pail Stanley play one 🤔

A bit disappointed by the “muffled” driven sound for the bridge but the cleans were great 🥰

3:00 song or?

Dude that melody at 6:30 was sick. Definitely something there

You need to send that one to me it’s a 1954 we are the same age
I think I need a M2M R4, except with another P90 in the middle...
do you think Mike looks at these comments? I hope he does he is a great player and a nice guy not full of himself.

I thought it meant literally no frets on the guitar lol
