My hats off to you guys who make the 16 Revo even faster, I tried it out with two Nickels running at the same time and it was to fast for my blood and I drive powerful cars exclusively, kudos chaps.
Anonymous i put a hobbywing max10 and 3652 4000kv motor 45/28 gearing and get speeds of 62mph, it’s very smooth and never gets warm. I also put on a dusty motors guard to stop all dirt getting in.
Speed gear in this particular car is actually smaller than the normal. They do this because they expect you use two nimh in series. Normally speed gears are bigger
That's coz normally when people go higher volts like from 4s to 6s, you might have to gear down a touch depending on the motor, as you might get heat issues quickly.
Calvin Burton some people do but you’re only intended to use the series with NiMH. The series adapter actually blocks you from using lipo with the new ID packs.
I actually run two nimhs in series with the stock 28t pinion... and my motor gets slightly warm... but then again it's like 2 degrees outside right now, lol.
MrAlexsalm my antenna did the same. Al you have to do is strip about 1/2 an inch of the black casing on the antenna wire to expose the white wire inside and the range will be back to brand-new. You can even pull the excess into the reciever box and make the antenna fit under the body and the range will be the same and yoy wont have to worry about ripping it again :-) .
You can also cut a small hole or run a ram air little tube blowing air on the motor Heat sink made a big difference.. We cut the windshield area out so a huge hole This is our basher body, we have a show body revo too This was a good revo Motors are 80 $ cdn We subbed

the stock pinion has about 28 teeth and this one wich comes in the box has 23 teeth, also you can change the spur gear (stck one has 55 t.) for smaller ones (traxxas has 50t. and 45.). but you can look for gears for example on hot racing web site
I do Marine grease just a little dab and it works itself aroun. I do this in my e revo 2.0 kraton 8s x Maxx platinum e revo 3.3 Maxx with wide kit and soon the new ryft

Steering was 100% alright but throttle would cut out and the ESC flashes LVC red. The battery popped yesterday when I was trying to get it to work because it overheated. I ordered a turnigy nanotech 2s lipo this time
I have a feeling bud if you put a 6 s battery set up in there the electronic system will fry. I'm new to the hobby but I take it super seriously as I have a Merv and a box of parts batteries the whole bit that cost $1300 dollars Still I am a newbie to the RCCraze. I love it. Have my nerve now for not even 2 weeks and blew the rear bloody dif gears. But more will be coming. Anyways I was told by the guys when I bought my car the speed controller will not take 6s. Only 2 of the 3s cells in (parallel). Buy at my own risk. Series to make 6s (NO). Thanks for the vid it was good.

I'll do the pinion gear as soon as if feel like I need to so your video was very informative on how to do this. However, i wanted to ask you something. I noticed the added weight to the car after adding another battery. when I take jumps it bottoms out a lot.I was wondering if you had this issue and if so what you did to stop it the bottom of the car from hitting the ground so much. Not sure if I need tighter springs or better shocks.
I run the 28T on one 2s lipo and i get 35 minute run times with an average temp of 180F on the motor and 170 on the esc after a run. damage begins at around 215 F It hits about 40-45 MPH. Even on 2s and reduced torque, I end up stripping the differentials, usually the rear.

It only hits about 35mph on 2s, 50 mph on 3s. This video is useless, why cook it with 4s even downgeared when you can hit 80 on 3s which is the most the speedy can safely handle.
You run 4s n think people could use 6s no. Your advice sux. It's a 3s max system. My mate cooked his running 2 2s in series. 3s is crazy fast anyway. Gives 80 with heaps of torque. Why would you try n change that.

Be careful, whit the in series connector, you can only connect two nimh (1200 mah, 7,2V) batteries, because the maximum voltage that those awesome cars supports is someting like 14,4V. Using Lipo batteries you can only use the parallel connector.
Ok so i have a question. The one i have isnt a brushless, its brushed. Can i still usevteo batteries? It has the spit for two batteries. Im looking to get longer run time until i upgrade to a brushless. This is my furst electric one so im a bit cautious on it. My other two are gas and it of course just uses one batter it doesn't run the motor so. Any help would be appreciated and if anyone can give me ideas on what all i will need for the brushless upgrade. I know the motor and the ESC. Im just wondering if i need to update the Transmitter, receiver, transmission, motor mount (to fit the brushless motor), batteries.... help please!
Great Video! but isn´t it a bit too much power for the little Differential gears. When I drive with my Summit 1/16 with much power the Differential gears breaks...
The diff ring and pinion gear themselves are pretty good actually, still though, given that they are in plastic bulkheads, shimming them can do wonders in helping to keep the gears from skipping and in good condition

Aabeg Rasheed you can buy em on any rc hobby online or on ebay get the series plug wich gives you dynamite power but i think they forgot to mention that the series plug and paralel plugs only work on limh batteries the nickel met batteries only dont use lipos with that but you wont need that if u invest and get a couple killer lipo batteries one lipo blows awzy 2 of the other running in series
If you run the car in series without changing the gear it will over heat in like 10min that's why they recommend switching it. If you plan to just run it in parallel mode or a single 2s you don't really have to change the gear.
I run mine on 28t pinion and 43t metal spur and 2s or 3s lipo. If that's not 'screaming fast' idk what is. It prob goes over 90kmh if had balanced tires

Roc Hale you buy a shim kit from associated, very very thin washers and put them either side of the diff and hopefuly fixes the problem, youtube search "e revo shim" or similar and you should find a guy that does a full tutorial, if you cant find him, come back here and comment
Try two 2s lipo with the series connector and I just run the same brushless system but I still have regular gears. But damn that thing flys a lot faster then 80kmh more like 80mph
ok,,I made a CUSTOM Integy MERV VXL,,Iys about twice the weight as it was lol but it BEAUTIFUL!!-BUT I'm running Summit Rims/Tires on it,,(have YET to change ANY gearing,,Cause it seems like I wouldn't need to since the Tires are twice the size,And the RC itself weighs more,,Soo ANY IDEAS on what/What gearing I should run,,Iys want SOME SPEED(Wheelies)But I'll give up speed to be able to drive Longer/And go slower threw rocks/Sandy areas!!!AND I'm running Summit Tires on my Revo VXL So since them being twice the size,,Should I jeep the gearing all stock,,If any ideas/Tips/Tricks,,MORE THAN HAPPY TO HEAR THEM ALL!!THANKS ALOT GUYS!!!! PEACE LOVE & RC
I put 2 2s in series and I ballooned the tires at 3/4 top speed. I don't suggest it but it was scary stupid fast but I learned my lesson after crashing into a tree broke two suspension arms
+Henry Huynh he's running two 2S in series which equals 4S, and voltage is what you need to go fast, the C rating has nothing to do with it other than initial acceleration
gamer life this truck has usable lipo cutoff up to 3 cells, yes not rated for 4 cell, but electronics can be underrated and take a lot more abuse than what the manufacturer recommends
you cant run it on 4s u will burn up the (esc)so parallel is a non option series is tho but u have to put it in non lipo mode and risk damaging your battery if you dont have a lipo beeper
Dude please do a video when you hook up 2 3s batteries in series (6s) that be awesome...... cant wait..... neither can traxxas will love you too because you'll be buying a new esc. Also excessive heat on your motor or esc isnt necessarily "cool" the least amount of heat the better trying to get the maximum amount of power while running at decent temps is the ideal route if your motor is so hot you can't touch it you need to re gear or move into fans on your motor or esc, which is difficult on the 1/16 scale stuff. Either way looks like your having fun so who cares but when your putting this stuff out to people who just bought this car you should be careful not to reccomend to do things you shouldn't.....
Why would anyone even want to run 6s on a Merv coz it would just be mental. Mine is mental on 2s or 3s but I am putting a hobbywing max10sct to try 4s in it but I think my diffs will blow.
You should not run lipos in series as you can burn up the esc. From what I've read the Max voltage is 14.8 but the recommended Max is 14.4. 2 NiMH (7.2 each) batteries are 14.4. 2 2s lipos (7.4 each) would be 14.8. I think 3s lipos are 11.1 (I think). So unless you have an upgraded esc and motor I don't recommend lipos in series.
3s is much much more powerful than 2 nimh batteries in series or parallel. I ran 2s in mine and it was still a lot faster and way more responsive than 2 Minh batts
Hi there I rollover my car couple few times and I lost maybe an inch and a half of the antenna wire and I'm losing signal I only get 25 to 30 feet of all signal on my radio anybody has experience this problem or any solution for this ?

if you put the smaller pinion on without any other mods, it will be slower. It will work fine tho. Nice cold motor

Actually, damage starts at 180 degrees Fahrenheit on the motor, especially with cheaper systems.

You put the motor or gears badly and the gears are far from themselves. thats why it makes that sound.

Put in a castle mamba micro x high kv motor and esc and it will go about 10 MPH faster
I use the stock gear in series and I works fine and it still looks like it's going 50 mph

I tried this with my revo. It smoked the motor. I used 3s for speed runs and didn't have a problem. 4s is just too much for such a small system.

Thomas Cantrell this is made for nimh batteries it is not rated for 4s use and lipo cut off probable made only one battery run the truck
gamer life this truck has usable lipo cutoff up to 3 cells, yes not rated for 4 cell, but electronics can be underrated and take a lot more abuse than what the manufacturer recommends
you cant run it on 4s u will burn up the (esc)so parallel is a non option series is tho but u have to put it in non lipo mode and risk damaging your battery if you dont have a lipo beeper
smaller is not faster your gonna burn up the motor if u run it on 4s

Dude please do a video when you hook up 2 3s batteries in series (6s) that be awesome...... cant wait..... neither can traxxas will love you too because you'll be buying a new esc. Also excessive heat on your motor or esc isnt necessarily "cool" the least amount of heat the better trying to get the maximum amount of power while running at decent temps is the ideal route if your motor is so hot you can't touch it you need to re gear or move into fans on your motor or esc, which is difficult on the 1/16 scale stuff. Either way looks like your having fun so who cares but when your putting this stuff out to people who just bought this car you should be careful not to reccomend to do things you shouldn't.....
Why would anyone even want to run 6s on a Merv coz it would just be mental. Mine is mental on 2s or 3s but I am putting a hobbywing max10sct to try 4s in it but I think my diffs will blow.
How many tooths is that pinion gear? Are you using 2 3s in series?
You should not run lipos in series as you can burn up the esc. From what I've read the Max voltage is 14.8 but the recommended Max is 14.4. 2 NiMH (7.2 each) batteries are 14.4. 2 2s lipos (7.4 each) would be 14.8. I think 3s lipos are 11.1 (I think). So unless you have an upgraded esc and motor I don't recommend lipos in series.
by the way the paper thing doesn't work I always set my gearing by ear.

I'm kinda confused how are you running two batteries in series?. That's systems only rated for 3s tops. So your running 4s on that?.

3s is much much more powerful than 2 nimh batteries in series or parallel. I ran 2s in mine and it was still a lot faster and way more responsive than 2 Minh batts
3s is 11.1v, dual NiMH is 14.4v. The difference is that LiPos will hold the voltage better over a longer period of time, giving it more torque

Its to keep temps down but bigger pinion is actually faster with lipos or 2 nimh in series
Hi there I rollover my car couple few times and I lost maybe an inch and a half of the antenna wire and I'm losing signal I only get 25 to 30 feet of all signal on my radio anybody has experience this problem or any solution for this ?
Just strip a half inch of the black wire to expose the core of the wire, then it's like brand new
