- Earlier this summer, Rory headed to the US of A to take in some culture and drive the new 2023 Corvette Stingray C8. Is it as good as its European rivals? Perhaps even better?!

When I saw that title I was expecting the Z06. As amazing as the regular C8 is, the Z06 truly spanks the competition that cost multiple times more than it
Ya. They are seriously behind. The Z06 is where it’s at now.
Maybe cost was taken into consideration. For the money, the C8 is dominant. Just like the Ford Mustang GT is the better buy versus the GT 500.
Well said. In my opinion, theZ06 not only has superior performance but also embodies a lot of the original design and heart of the Corvette. Such a nice car
Good luck ever getting a Z06 though!
Zo6 isn't really a sportscar anymore its definitely in the supercar segment
Rory is by far one of the best car journalist across the world..
Yes you’ve watched every car review video across all platforms in all languages
Facts 🔥🔥🔥🔥and his team is so creative too shoutout to them
Jason cammisa for me.
He’s the best 💯
Chris would be proud
Misha at the Nurburgring recently tested a convertible C8 and essentially said it was the best out of the box sports car he ever driven on the Nurburging. High praise, especially since before driving the car, he thought it was overhyped, but stated he was wrong, he was impressed.
Especially since convertibles are heavier and bendier by often large margins.
@@JackMott the way the C8’s chassis was designed as a backbone design means there is really no structural difference between the convertible and coupe …..especially since the coupe is actually not a coupe but rather a targa roof
@@jameswillard1 even if we suppose that the structural rigidity is literally no different (it probably is, as for years car companies claim their car is designed to be a vert now but even targa hoops in the back are better than nothing and the solid roof clamped in still helps!). the vert is still 100lbs heavier. car is powerful enough you would never notice in normal driving but on the ‘ring that will have some consequences
@@JackMott 100lbs is nothing more than a small child in the passenger seat. I don't think you would notice it at all.
@@snozbaries7652 you done a lot of Nurburgring laps in anger?
I can absolutely identify with the comments Rory makes in his introduction. When I was younger a lot of my friends were into Jags and British made cars but I only ever dreamed of American motors. I managed, over a period of time, to own three Mustangs, a Pontiac Firebird and finally realised my dream of owning a Corvette. For me it was the affordability (I did my own maintenance) and the camaraderie of like-minded enthusiasts. The names of American cars were just so much more exciting: Mustang, Corvette, Charger, challenger and Roadrunner as oppose to Cortina, Zephyr and such like. For me there was no comparison. Alas all that was in the year BC (Before Children) but I still have great memories of sliding into that Corvette seat, turning the key and listening to that V8 rumble into life. When I win the lottery (haha) my first purchase will be a Z06 until then I return to dreaming!
Sting aside, the cinematography in your videos is EPIC, Rory - hats off to you and your team for such incredible production quality. 😎
I knew it Rory never miss be it at a range or when reviewing a car he hits the bulls eye. The best in the game. Props to the Editor on this one too LOve from western Africa Senegal
Hey Rory,
What a great review with wonderful camera work also.
I find this car so much more interesting than all the other super cars with a million horsepower and a price in the hundreds of thousands.
Respect to Corvette for building a truly attainable sports/super car.
Love this! I worked for a Tech company base here in the US. Whenever our counterparts located in Basingstoke, England, came to the US for a visit: (1) Muscle rental car, (2) Gun range visit, and (3) IN AND OUT BURGERS!!!! Though they could not comprehend how Americans could eat in their cars. Great video!
Americans will always love their cars, guns, sports, food and God!
No opinions will ever change that!
The US has been the last bastion of pure, fun sports cars for a few years now. They care very little for Nürburgring lap times and focus on making what driving should be: fun.
As always, absolute quality from Rory and AutoTrader; it's hard to believe content of this calibre is free!
They do care about Nuerburgring times, they just can't beat the Germans despite, GM, Tesla and Co keep testing there and everyone is waiting for an official Z07 time.
"The US has been the last bastion of pure, fun sports cars for a few years now." Lol, what?
@@maarkkes9618 CTS-V; Viper TA, ACR; C8, Z06; Ford GT; Mustang GT350 & 500. There are very few sports cars left in Europe that offer the same fun, and none exist for the same money.

By far the best In N Out Burger review. 10 out of 10. Hoping for a follow-up.
Rory, this reminded me how awesome it is to be an American!! Best review ever from you! The closing actually choked me up!
As a Brit I completely get America, a wonderful country with great people
I can't tell you how excited I've been for Rory to finally get around to reviewing a C8!! He nailed it perfectly! A car that you can dream of attaining in your life!!
The King of car show is back and I was actually wondering when to see a full review on my dream American car guess my wish has been fulfilled Thank you guys and keep up the good work
Wow, 1600Kg, under 500hp yet does the benchmark sprint in 2.8sec and all for a song!! Impressive!! Plus, seeing it on the move- with this outfits trademark top notch cinematography- has really made the looks grow on me. I’m not usually into the aggressive angular look. But this machine makes it work, especially within context of Corvettes trademark look!!
Good job all round!! 🙌🏾✊🏾💪🏾
Another great review Rory. It's great to see people who really love what they do and they know what they are talking about. Keep them coming.
The gun and the Big Mac sent me rolling😂😂. Stellar review as usual.
Not Big Mac, that’s so 1990’s. He was at “ In and Out Burgers “. That old “In and Out urge “ (As People would “hack” the bumper stickers)
ok i wasnt the only one that noticed lol im like a gun some in and out an a vette seems like a good time to me
Low key pun🤣🤣🤣
I have said this before and I will say it again, Rory is a fabulous vehicle presenter. One of the tops in the industry for sure. I certainly miss him on UK Top Gear. He and Chris Harris had very good chemistry between them. Get him as the main host of Top Gear USA.
Great video Rory and team! Nice to see you enjoying some of our local roads in the Bay Area. Mt. Hamilton is one of my favorite driving roads!
It's an American Sports Car. Love how you integrated In-N-Out and the gun range. Awesome! Just want to say, Rory, you are the best reviewer on the planet. Your review of the Huracan sealed the deal for me. You are The Best!!!!
Rory just adds such a special feel to these videos...
Excellent writing AutoTrader team and Mr.Reid !
Corvettes are really growing on me. The C8 is a homerun for sure. It is even more impressive for keeping naturally aspirated. If you can make an engine make big power without forced induction, it is far more impressive to me than just slapping turbos on it. That makes it way cheaper too which is also a huge win.
This is how you review a car Britain, Amazing guy.
Great review 👏 The Z51 C8 is the best of all worlds. (Its actually a dual clutch 8 speed) If you put it in Sport or Launch mode it will lite up even more than what is shown here. Lastly there is another mode called "Competition" mode that is not advertised. Tricky to get to but it turns the C8 INTO A COMPLETE MONSTER!!! 30mpg when cruising around 😎
Great review, great video. Thanks for filming on Mt. Hamilton Road. I always thought it deserved to featured. I used to drive it and several others in the hills outside the area, and that one was always a blast.
Great Test and Report as always. You understand how to transfer emotions to your audience 😊👍🏻Thank you again!
Great video. I remember the last gen was sold in the UK by a reseller, but after taxes and fees etc it worked out to around 100K GBP. Hopefully this one stays around the 50k mark once it's on these shores.
A genuine take, such a fun watch. Great work dude!
One of the best RUclips car reviewers. Keep up the great work Rory!👏🏻
I see peeps in the comments talking about the Z06, I'm pretty sure Rory will have a vid for that lined up soon. Proud of chevy for this car though, well done.
You can lower a corvette with stock adjustment bolts, so no need to make the tires bigger to reduce the gap.
Excellent review Rory. Keep up the great work.
Typical Rory, knocking another review out the park, what a great car, well played Chevy 👍
Really
I have been looking for American gift for far too long until now. Thank you, Rory, for this review. You make my day.
Great film, Rory! Fantastic work and it's clear you REALLY liked this one. GREAT TAKE!
Awesome that you finally got to drive the C8 and now we all expect you to go and get your hands on a C8 Z06!
The 'body' in the frunk was a nice touch. Great review Rory. That's one heck of a supercar honestly
I really enjoy your knowledgeable & enthusiastic reviews 👍🏾
The fact that Rory said that C8 has 7-Speed PDK and I cant seem to find a comment about this mistake (so it looks like noone noticed) speaks volumes about Porsche and their marvelous double-clutch.
I noticed. pdk was a game-changer. forget what the purists say, it's a great transmission that is very fun to drive.
にせ nice racing car C8 V8 with unbelievable racing speed 🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏍🏍🏍🏍🚚
You make great reviews, thanks!
Awesome production, and equally awesome presenting from Rory.
Z06 takes that title to another level
Rory am glad you finally get to review this car, but please come back and review the Z06 with the Z07 package when the time comes and tell us what you think of it!!!
bout time !! dig it .cant wait to see you in the zo6
Great review. Nice work guys. Rory is excellent.
Great Review! Love the "speed" reference by the way.
By far the best car reviewer of all time. And also may the solar system bless America!
Yea fact
Yeah bro you talking facts cuh
Rory, one of the GOATS! 💯
Nice one Rory! You just need the jeans shorts, white socks and white sneakers to be fully converted 🙂
The front looks ok but everything from the door mirror backwards looks off
America has twisty canyon roads, great straight-line cars
Europe has straight large roads, great cornering cars
Another great video, Rory!
Cheers from California!
Nicely done as usual! I too was expecting the Z06. Looking forward to that review. Colorado switchbacks are great. Just sayin...
Brilliant review!
You might want to review the Z06 Z07 package cuz the base is a good platform but I think this would be a good competitor to a 458 Speciale or Italia.Have a blessed day Rory
my guy. Well done..... again! . thank you
I like how u shoot video! very nice!
0:09 the gun being right alongside the burgers among the top American things
Rory, great to have you here in SJ! I love that road. Hope you got to drive Highway 9 as it's even better.
Also, nice shooting! I pull bottom right also, I believe we are trying to compensate for the recoil.
I'm trying to decide if I can afford the Z06 but an extra 30k for non Z07 package. I dont track much anymore but I want the Carbon fiber rims which transforms the car, which will add another 30k due to Z07 pkg, CF package & rims cost
Pistol, Fast Food, and the Vette.... RESPECT LOL
As an extremely patriotic American, even I found the few jabs at America in this video to be hilarious. Well done Rory.
Toujours un plaisir de regarder tes vidéos Rory from a french Guyana fan🤩
Very good analogy about the C8.... enjoyed watching. I love my C8!
Rory! You the man. Great review.
Man, I just love the car! Amazing video.
Welcome to America, bro. It's fun here.
The C8 is amazing. But being American, there are many ways to configure the car. It can look (almost!) elegant, or really brash. The Z51 package is a must, and if Rory drove it on the track, he'd be surprised at how that slightly disconnected front end and minor understeer basically disappear. As it sits, it is unbeatable. And if you want (much) more, now we have the Z06/Z07. They are relatively hard to get, but well worth the wait. As ICE cars are beginning to ride off into the sunset (at least new ones), masterpieces like this are both harder to let go of and so damned welcome! Thanks for a great on-road review, Rory, and on those incredible west-coast mountain twisties it absolutely belongs on.
Well, they start at that price, the one he is testing is nowhere near under $70,000. Most at any dealership without ADA will have MSRPs in the $90K range. Even in more loaded prices, it's still a bargain.
"at any dealership"
"MSRP"
Do you know what MSRP stands for?
@@CrazyBader I used to work at one, I know what MSRP stands for. Most GM dealers will sell the Vette at MSRP now, but still many add ADA. Not sure what your point was?
thank you so much i really enjoy
This is true I must admit. For 50k something actually attainable by the average person. The inclusivity of this car makes it the best car by far. The amount of car you're getting is just out this world. Even people taking it around the Nürburgring are praising it. This is the best sports car.
Its impossible to obtain one even used for less than $70k in the usa right now.
Corvette bringing the heat! Every time a new Corvette is released it’s always the same story. “Wow, even though it’s cheap and American, this thing is great!”
"Find me a car that looks as mad as this for 50 grand"
On Autotrader there's a Morgan 3-wheeler for sale in Chipping Sodbury for just over $44k.
One amazing car that most people can actually afford to drive. That’s the American way
Love this video. This guy is excellent.
Love your videos ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome review man
Rory's back! Great video, not sure about the looks of this car but it obviously goes like a scalded cat and now handles too!
I can store 2 race tires (plus some tools) in my C7 Corvette rear hatch, how many race tires can fit in C8 Corvette?
Cracking review as usual. It’s a very fine car, but I’ve still prefer the last of the front engined cars.
That gun part had me😂😂🔥
Welcome to Da-Bay Bro! Rory came to buss capz and see how the vette corner snapz, nice 🤣🤣🤣
Nice review!
compare to lotus exige 430R and lotus elise final edition and honda k swaped lotus, zygrene made video comparing caymanR to elise. the big question probably will be, is better steering and feeling of speed from windnise etc, worth the lack of quietness and bumpy ride supression? could there be a way to have more of both worlds?
I'd buy this in a heart beat if they weren't being sold for double the price they should otherwise be here in Australia..
Your videos are the best 🔥
I know that road you are on you were in my backyard! nice
The cinematography on this channels is crazy.... Production quality 💯
As always great review Rory. I've some problem with your conclusion concerning price because with all taxes It will costs fortune in Europe.
Very well done. I agree 100% Rory but now I want an In N Out, Double Double with fries and a lemonade.
You just won a new subscriber 😊.
Great review.
I also used to think if I worked hard enough I could have a Corvette. It’s to bad the C8 will never be sold for under 100k as dealers are having so much fun marking them up.
I was able to get one at sticker. You may have to look out of state but they are out there. Build it yourself
Prices are coming down. You should be able to get one for 80k
Be patient. These are strange times in the auto industry, but things WILL settle down over the next year or so, as high interest rates push down demand. Prices will come down.
I don’t know why so many car enthusiasts don’t understand if you put in a build order you bypass any mark ups, can’t believe this isn’t common knowledge at this point in automotive history
Hmmmm...........................I'm curious as to what Rory would say about the C8 Corvette Z06. It's a drastic departure from the models that came before it.
Lol, the intro cracked me up 🤣
Great review Brother 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I find it odd that you’re just now reviewing the Stingray with the C8 Z06 just being released.
Perhaps that video is coming up in the near future?
What road was this filmed on?? I live nearby in San Francisco, and own a C8, I’d love to drive along that road if I knew where it was!
Brilliant video
Presenter is maturing and getting better as he ages. Way to go Rory :) God Bless
Did they set you up to drive the Z06 as well? I can’t wait to see what u think about that.
