    This a really good tip, Paul - really good. When I started with Swing Machine Golf back in 2007 or so, I couldn’t get away from the idea that loose wrists had to mean a loose grip. That’s far from the truth, but I fought it for the longest time. With this drill, you can prove to yourself that you can have both a firm grip and loose wrists. I even go so far as to make this drill a part of my pre-shot routine; I do 3 or 4 of these over the ball, then set the club down and go. It’s my waggle, and it gives me the feeling of what I want to do through impact. Great tip; everyone should pay close attention to this one... 👍

    i used this method today. usually i am stiff wristed on the back swing and that created inconsistency. today, drives 30 yds. longer and also long irons and hybrid and fairway woods i hit like never before. you can actually HEAR good strikes. such a simple fix. i just hit 70 years young and have never hit the ball so well. fairway woods , half the time i topped them to the point i wanted to take them out of the bag. i crush them now. and straight. fairway woods are such an important weapon when your playing big boy courses. thank you so much !

    Hi Paul: I am 72 and had an 18 handicap for years. Since watching your videos my cap is now down to 14. I play 2 days with younger guys who really bomb the ball. I have learned your hinge/rehinge technique and it works for,sure. This past weekend we had a guy getaway weekend to TPC Sawgrass. 2 rounds at TPC and 2 rounds at Dye's Valley. I was fighting the swing for 3 rounds trying to really pound the ball. Saturday evening, after a late dinner with the guys I started watching one of your videos at 11:30 PM. Next day I was determined to use your easy swing method with the wrist hinge/rehinge. From the white tees I parred 5 holes and birdied #12. Won the Stableford money for the day along with some skins. It was amazing to see that little ball fly with less effort. Straighter as well.
    Thanks Paul for your teaching prowess. I never write any type of review or postings on social:media but I wanted to tell all the old guys out there that they need to do what you say.

    This drill is going to top of my list...love the camera angle....i played today...focusing on relaxing and finishing to point B....but i noticed my best shots were when i would focus on releasing the club...driver/iron...it was amazing...trajectory /sound/distance..iron shots were right on pitch mark...im pretty convinced about this loose wrist hinge method...it is Key in every golf swing....and like you say it feels effortless when its done right.

Perhaps the best news for older golfers such as myself is that I don’t need to worry about whether I can manage to get the correct pelvic etc tilt and hold the face square through impact etc ;etc! • @paulwilsongolf

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  Год назад

      At least you are working on it and seeing results. Just need to trust that not hitting is going to work better than hitting. Change how you think meaning you are focused more on your body as the power source not your arms. And do some daily practice swings. Once a week is not going to do it. If you take a break (even for a few days) and get back into it human nature is telling you to hit the ball with your arms so you will go right back to hitting. If you do daily practice swings you a constantly working on the new moves. Keep doing this until you know no other way to swing. You are on your way. Keep at it.

      Well, I would do as many as you can. Say 50-100. Do it while watching TV. Get this and your wrists will be loosened up and working. Then you hit the range. If you are hooking it ... great. That's half. Then you switch to body to straighten it out.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  2 года назад +1

      You are going to purposely roll the wrists and get every ball hooking. This is step 1. Once you can do that they are working and you know what the ball is going to do before you hit it. At this point you are going to switch to the body to straighten it out. This means you switch focus but you still feel the release (just let it happen). Watch the ball. Keep adding more body until the ball goes online. If you blow it right ... slow down. I explain timing in this tip:

    Hey Paul congratulations on all of your hard work and videos. I hate to ask about something I’ve noticed in my swing but there’s no one else to bounce this stuff off of. Whenever I play my best and also when hitting shags, I’ve noticed something wonderfully simple and maybe telling.
    Whenever I’m able to whittle everything down to using my peripheral vision to watch my shoulders I can scratch everything off my “to do” list and I’m free. No more worrying about takeaway, shoulder turn and lag position. Even the ball becomes secondary. I’m wondering if this is really something that players on your level use or is it some idiosyncratic to or for me? Am I on to something or is it just another temporary fix? Once again thank you for your time and hopefully I’m describing in an understandable way. Peace!

      @paulwilsongolf  4 года назад +1

      Thanks so much. I appreciate it. It takes a ton of work. Covid allowed me to have time to finally get on it. Glad I did. Reaching way more people through youtube and helping them play great golf. You are on track. Ideally you are trying to get to a singular thought. This is how simple it is. See your arms, wrists and club as a unit. It hinges and re-hinges. There is no power in it. You work on this until every ball goes straight or hooks. This tells you that the unit is working. Once you get this, you start adding body. You coil and uncoil. This is where I am at. I coil the shoulders to take it back. The club sets at the top. Once set, I fire the lower. Then I watch my ball. (I rarely every have slice spin) so if it pulls or pull hooks I fire the lower harder. If I do something stupid and fire the lower too hard I push it so I slow down the leg drive. That's it. I feel what effort it takes to hit it straight then I apply this amount of leg drive on each shot. So see it literally this simple. Keep watching your ball. It will tell you everything you need to do.

I've tried it and my back was on fire after a few swings. To each his own. I will just keep doing what I have done since 1991. Glad you're with me.

    What you’re really demonstrating is forearm pronation/supination which requires lose forearms. Yes there are components of wrist flexion/extension and radial an ulnar deviation, but the release in the golf swing is primarily a function of the forearms.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 года назад +1

      Although those terms are correct I don't say it that way. I keep it simple. Start talking like that and few understand what you are saying. Everyone's club I grab and swing back and forth while they are here for lessons has them with locked wrists on the club. So they need to loose the wrists while holding securely onto the club. Forearms relaxed are fine too in the downswing.

    My pga instructor from St augustine said my lag was good but I feel like it's too wild. How can I fix this? My club head swing is close to 110 but I feel like my straight left shots can be avoided with a less lag

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 года назад

      You can only lag the club so much. It is the amount the bones in your wrist allow it to hinge. So set the hinge then fire your lower body sooner. If your body leads you will hit it dead straight. ruclips.net/video/KZAj2Bk8Roc/видео.html

      Yes, keep it simple. Just divide it in half. Get half then get the other. Too many people try to get everything at once so they get nothing. Work on the arm unit first. Hinge and rehinge and get every ball hooking. Once you can do that switch to the legs and hips to straighten it out. Watch me fix this massive slicer in minutes:

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 года назад +2

      Your friend doesn't know what he is talking about and knows nothing about what I teach or the results I get. This is a wrist drill. If you only did this will no body rotation it would be a flip but this is a piece of the swing NOT the whole swing. So you would do this drill to unlock your wrists then use your body to hit the ball. He is more than welcome to come out and watch me. I have been getting amazing results since 1991. After I blow his mind maybe he will change his mind.

      He is so wrong. 100%. Did you ever here of Mike Austin? There are many similarities to this method. However he made it difficult to understand for the beginning golfer. Basically you are using physics and anatomy to maximize your distance with the least amount of effort. Tell your friend to throw a ball, hit a tennis ball, skip a stone, throw a discus or javelin with any power and tell me how loose the arms and the wrists were while using the ground with power and speed to propel the shoulders, arms, hands and the club head.
