Im very close to the Patton but the stock Pershing is giving serious headaches (it bounces even sides of borsig), after watching you doing great matches with the centurion im seriously thinking about dropping the Patton grind and go for the british.

I used the 20-pdr a while, and it's a great weapon, but my damage record was 4384. Then I unlocked the 105, and the very first game with an unknown weapon for me was 7486 damage and 7 kills :) The gun is just so much better because of the penetration. And the premium ammo is HESH, which is really useful. Also funny when people cry in chat "APCR noob" where you can answer "that's my normal ammo" :)
You also forgot about the view range the centurion gets. With optics and crew skills you can easily spot most tanks well over 400m away where you can then pick them off. The Cent is fantastic on maps like El Halluf where you can peek over a ridge, spot enemy tanks, shoot one of them, then back over the ridge while they start getting smacked by your allies.

Your description of Centurion driving is exactly how Israeli used the Centurion (Sho't 105mm L7) during the initial Golan engagement in 1973. They used HESH ammunition. "During the invasion of the Syrian army into the Golan Heights during the Yom Kippur war, two damaged Centurion/Sho’t tanks engaged approximately 150 Syrian T-55/T-62 tanks. In the course of the following 30 hour tank battle, the two tanks knocked out over 60 tanks" -Wiki. Edit: they were the last surviving tanks from their brigade. Edit: I wonder if WoT will introduce the Sho't, (premium?) as the last upgrade to the Centurion.
The main advantage of the 105 gun over the T-55/62:s were that the Centurions could fire accuratly at the T-55/62:s at ranges at about 1600m while the russian tanks had to get within 800-900 meters to have a chance at hitting the Centurions. That meant running the gauntlet for more than half a kilometer over open ground to even have a chance at hitting. I seem to recall that the british FN-troops in Korea also used the Centurion Mk. VII with 105mm gun and one veteran tanker said in a interview that they sometimes used the tank in the infantery support role and they fire across valleys at ranges at about a mile to take out bunkers on the far side by aiming for the machinegun slit. So... the L7 105 mm is and was a pretty good gun.

New engine Continental AVDS-1790-2A diesel engine and the Allison CD850-6 transmission. Same engine and transmission as the American M-60 by 1973 Israeli forces had these upgrades. Not the same Centurion anymore yet the same hull and gun. I found mentions and wishes for the Sho't variant on forums. This has the signature of a premium tank.

Funny thing about that 20 pounder is that it works really well on the Caernarvon aswell. Sure it doesnt fire as fast as on the centurion, but it's faster than most tier 8 heavy tank guns. Havent tried the 20 pounder on the conqueror, but I guess it fires even faster than it does on the Caernarvon.
well i would certainy rather be using the 20 pounder (226 pen) to grind the centurion 7/1 rather than having to use the 88mm l71 (203 pen) to grind the e-50. i feel that the older meds in this game are completely outclassed in terms of guns to their newer counter parts for example the leopard pta, centurion 7/1 and type 61 have superior guns to the e-50, m46 patton and lorraine 40t. (i was going to say t-54 and then i remembered that a t-54 when it doesnt have enough pen becomes the heat-54 that will spam shells and pen everything its pointed at ive met heat-54s too many times that need the heat to pen the tier 7 tiger 1 with its "amazing armour")
I've never played any of the russian mediums..... How much pen on standard ammo for T-54??? I know their gold rounds have like 300 penn or something.....
there seriously needs to be some sort of limitation for gold rounds. whether means less experience gain for using them or reduced damage when using them in order to compensate for the stupid amounts of pen some guns get. either that or they look at the tiger and its gold rounds it only gets about an 18% (roughly) increase on its standard rounds (from 203mm to 237mm) so if all gold rounds were like this would the game be more balanced?
Not criticizing you or anything Jingles, but that "T69" is actually a T54E1 and that "AMX 50 Foch" is actually an AMX AC 48. Both tanks look similar to one another though, so I can see where you got muddled up :/

I'm a bit confused on your comparison with the both 105's , Jingles. The 105 L7A1 has better pen and APCR but less DPM to the Patton but the aiming times are the same. Unless you talking about the 20-pdr when you were talking about the better aiming time. (The Patton 105 has better DPM then the 20-pdr too)
I find that the whole debate between the 20 Pounder vs 105 L7 is quite silly, for two reasons. #1. 20 pounder is a "medium tank" gun. The 105 isn't an MT gun, and neither is the Centurion, at least primarily. Now, one might say that the 20 pounder does more damage, because theoretically, it has more DPM. But let's think about this for a second. I could have the fastest firing cannon, or the largest alpha damage in the game, but if I don't pen the target and do damage, what's the point? And there it is. While other medium tanks need to flank in order to do their damage, you are able to face the most armored tanks there are and engage them from the front. Now, I am not saying that you should run out in front of people's guns, or not flank targets when you get the opportunity, but what I'm saying is you remain competitive in high tier matches as a whole. And that "low" DPM? As I recall, the fastest "rough" reload time is around 4.8 seconds on the 20 pounder, whereas the reload time on the L7 with vents and BiA is 9.9 seconds. With an ability to fire 13 rounds a minute (this is counting the first shot which does not take any time to reload) we come out to 2,990 avg DPM on the 20 pounder. The 105? With an ability to fire 7 rounds counting the first shot, we come out to 2,730 avg DPM. That means that you, on average, only have to hit 8 shots in order to do roughly 3,000 damage. Now, let's think about this. To do the same amount of damage, you have to continually engage a target in a very large tank that doesn't have much effective armor - you have to hit targets 14 times, and more often than not you will bounce a shot or two when firing at T10s, especially at long range. Finally, we get to the Centurion's armor. The Centurion is a master at making enemies rush shots when trying to shoot your turret. Let's say you are on a steep hill and you have to expose your hull to take the shot. You pop over, take your shot, and pull back quickly, exposing your turret and upper glassis at a very good angle - the shot bounces/misses because hull down positioning has very good synergy with the Centurion's armor. If you are popping out continuously to fire, you are creating more chances for enemies to shoot you. Although the Centurion's turret is a good one, it isn't up to spec with a lot of other turrets like a T32, for example. But, if you are using the 105, and shifting positions and popping off the radar after you shoot, you are effectively increasing the survivability of the Centurion, ESPECIALLY from artillery. Best defense from artillery? Repositioning and never appearing on the scope for long periods of time. Conclusion: 20 pounder is a gift from heaven when it comes to grinding the Centurion - it's a decent gun that makes the "grind" for the 105 painless. But, once you have the 105, that is the gun you should be using. It has better synergy with the Centurion, not to mention it keeps it competitive in virtually every aspect in a T10 match. Yea, the 20 pounder might have a higher reward if you are able to pen every shot you fire, but the risk to your tank is significantly higher, whereas the 105 lowers the risk to your tank and keeps the reward, reliably high.
Gotta love the GW Tiger calling the team noobs when he sat on a barely defended flank defended by two tanks with bad lines of sight and an enemy team with a three lights, on Murovanka of the magical forest no less.
I got my Centurion 7/1 last night. I have only the 20pounder unlocked and in the few games I played so far, WHAT A TANK! I liked the previous tank, enough to reconsider selling it, but I did end up selling it. This though, oh my, I am keeping it!
Jingles, the Centurion(s) are my favourite tanks also, but I love the FV4202 as it shares so many good things, and makes them better IMO, but will you be playing The Elder Scrolls: Online with say Quickybaby? I am yet too see the Might Jingles in an MMO ;)

Ive tested this tank on the Test Server and its just great. I think I prefer the bigger gun because I tend not to play in platoons but this tank really motivated me to play the British Mediums :D
When i first bought the tank i wondered why anyone would pass up the L1A1, but then i gave it some thought and realised that it has a very Comet-esque feel with the great dpm, lacklustre pen, and good reload time.

You can put tier 8 heavy Caernarvon to similar use very well though it's not as manouverable as centurion. 20 pounder just kicks ass (as long as it's not fitted on Conqueror...)
Actually I'd consider it more comparable to the tiger II with the long 88, that tank is one of the least painful stock grinds I've ever had and I've seriously considered keeping the long 88 and ignoring the 105's completely. You can easily tear tanks to shreds that expect you to be firing slower.
Eon2641 I didn´t do this with the Tiger 2, because of the better pen with the long 10,5cm, but on the jagdpanther i kept using the 88 after i got the 10,5. The 10,5 ammo costs are a bit to much i think, you get 320 damage for around 1k credits- the russian 122s get 390 damage at around the same price...
I know, but the T57's armor isn't up to par with other well armored tier 10's, AND it's relatively slow. Besides, the AMX's speed lets you get behind enemies and unload your clip much more easily. Fits my play style more.
I personally prefer the L7 105mm gun over the 20 pounder. The extra alpha damage means your survivability increases as you don't need to expose yourself as much in order to deal large amounts of damage. If you can stay alive longer and get yourself into positions where you can hit the enemy, the L7 will deal that damage.
To all Centurion drivers: I have the Cent I, fully upgraded, camos, modules and experienced crew, and currently grinding on the Cent 7/1. Should I upgrade the engine or keep the xp to get the FV4202? Also, should I even get the 4202? I like the Centurion playstyle, and they are the highest WR holding tanks I have...

I'll have to try the British medium line myself, it seems like a blast... and that 105 mm gun seems a lot better than the guns the t-54 has, the only tier 9 medium i currently have, both in terms of penetration and alpha damage. Quick question: why does your gun fire sound differently in your videos then when i'm playing the game?
Jingles I got my centurion mk1 recently and rushed to get the best gun (if u know anything about the grind u wud know why) but I constantly keep getting shot when poking out and back in is this the right play style for it (bare in mind I don't have the top engine so it might be obvious but so far I feel it won't do me any good) or shd I adopt another play style
I think each tank has it's unique play style.. FV4202 losses that nice turret for some great speed and increase in rate of fire so that it can duck away after firing..(If the increased camo rating for being smaller than the 7/1 didn't help) :) Thanks for replying to my comment

I stop playing WOT about a year ago because i got sick of the low FPS, has the game become more optimized since then. I used to get 15-25fps on lowest settings.
8:26 no shit? you have 100% crew in. If you have stock or fully upgraded you can't do good with 50% crew if you can't even hit your target and if you hit it in the bounce spot or low track with no dmg.
The advantages that the 7/1 has over the Patton, as you just laid out Jingles, is a good illustration of power creep in this game. Let's not even mention the death star, but there is no reason the Patton's gun has to have shit aiming time and accuracy. It's a fucking top tier medium for gods sake.
Man people are so pampered with all the new meds and their ultra high pen guns on tier 9. The 20 pounder has low pen you say. Last time i checked it had more pen than the 105mm on the patton. It even has more pen than the 105mm on the e50. How WoT has changed

DO NOT STOP. The M46 Patton is a great tank. the M48 is even better. Its well worth the grind.

Type B barrel at T8 still fires pretty quick, and it is quicker than the Type A, which the T8 Centurion Mk 1 gets.

the reason why the centurion uses APCR is because it has the same cannon as the leopard 1, the Royal Ordnance L7. wich is a rifled cannon.

Now, I am not saying that you should run out in front of people's guns, or not flank targets when you get the opportunity, but what I'm saying is you remain competitive in high tier matches as a whole.
And that "low" DPM? As I recall, the fastest "rough" reload time is around 4.8 seconds on the 20 pounder, whereas the reload time on the L7 with vents and BiA is 9.9 seconds. With an ability to fire 13 rounds a minute (this is counting the first shot which does not take any time to reload) we come out to 2,990 avg DPM on the 20 pounder. The 105?
With an ability to fire 7 rounds counting the first shot, we come out to 2,730 avg DPM. That means that you, on average, only have to hit 8 shots in order to do roughly 3,000 damage. Now, let's think about this.
To do the same amount of damage, you have to continually engage a target in a very large tank that doesn't have much effective armor - you have to hit targets 14 times, and more often than not you will bounce a shot or two when firing at T10s, especially at long range.
Finally, we get to the Centurion's armor. The Centurion is a master at making enemies rush shots when trying to shoot your turret. Let's say you are on a steep hill and you have to expose your hull to take the shot. You pop over, take your shot, and pull back quickly, exposing your turret and upper glassis at a very good angle - the shot bounces/misses because hull down positioning has very good synergy with the Centurion's armor. If you are popping out continuously to fire, you are creating more chances for enemies to shoot you. Although the Centurion's turret is a good one, it isn't up to spec with a lot of other turrets like a T32, for example. But, if you are using the 105, and shifting positions and popping off the radar after you shoot, you are effectively increasing the survivability of the Centurion, ESPECIALLY from artillery. Best defense from artillery? Repositioning and never appearing on the scope for long periods of time.
Conclusion: 20 pounder is a gift from heaven when it comes to grinding the Centurion - it's a decent gun that makes the "grind" for the 105 painless. But, once you have the 105, that is the gun you should be using. It has better synergy with the Centurion, not to mention it keeps it competitive in virtually every aspect in a T10 match. Yea, the 20 pounder might have a higher reward if you are able to pen every shot you fire, but the risk to your tank is significantly higher, whereas the 105 lowers the risk to your tank and keeps the reward, reliably high.
If you like that tank, you SHOULD try out the Leopard 1. It is AWESOME.

I got my Centurion 7/1 last night. I have only the 20pounder unlocked and in the few games I played so far, WHAT A TANK!
I liked the previous tank, enough to reconsider selling it, but I did end up selling it.

Jingles, the Centurion(s) are my favourite tanks also, but I love the FV4202 as it shares so many good things, and makes them better IMO, but will you be playing The Elder Scrolls: Online with say Quickybaby? I am yet too see the Might Jingles in an MMO ;)

Ive tested this tank on the Test Server and its just great.
I think I prefer the bigger gun because I tend not to play in platoons but this tank really motivated me to play the British Mediums :D

When i first bought the tank i wondered why anyone would pass up the L1A1, but then i gave it some thought and realised that it has a very Comet-esque feel with the great dpm, lacklustre pen, and good reload time.
Lacklustre? Ha! It's still got great pen for a tier 9 med with either guns.

You can put tier 8 heavy Caernarvon to similar use very well though it's not as manouverable as centurion. 20 pounder just kicks ass (as long as it's not fitted on Conqueror...)

Actually I'd consider it more comparable to the tiger II with the long 88, that tank is one of the least painful stock grinds I've ever had and I've seriously considered keeping the long 88 and ignoring the 105's completely. You can easily tear tanks to shreds that expect you to be firing slower.
Eon2641 I didn´t do this with the Tiger 2, because of the better pen with the long 10,5cm, but on the jagdpanther i kept using the 88 after i got the 10,5. The 10,5 ammo costs are a bit to much i think, you get 320 damage for around 1k credits- the russian 122s get 390 damage at around the same price...

50b is great. It loses all the time though because its not a real tier ten and cant carry idiot teams.
I really like autoloaders, and I can deal with long reloads. If only WoT grinds weren't so mind numbingly boring and prolonged.
T57 Heavy is better
Gun is better, but the AMX is far faster and the gun is definitely dangerous too. I personally prefer the 50B.
I know, but the T57's armor isn't up to par with other well armored tier 10's, AND it's relatively slow. Besides, the AMX's speed lets you get behind enemies and unload your clip much more easily. Fits my play style more.

I personally prefer the L7 105mm gun over the 20 pounder. The extra alpha damage means your survivability increases as you don't need to expose yourself as much in order to deal large amounts of damage. If you can stay alive longer and get yourself into positions where you can hit the enemy, the L7 will deal that damage.

I'll have to try the British medium line myself, it seems like a blast... and that 105 mm gun seems a lot better than the guns the t-54 has, the only tier 9 medium i currently have, both in terms of penetration and alpha damage. Quick question: why does your gun fire sound differently in your videos then when i'm playing the game?
Jingles I got my centurion mk1 recently and rushed to get the best gun (if u know anything about the grind u wud know why) but I constantly keep getting shot when poking out and back in is this the right play style for it (bare in mind I don't have the top engine so it might be obvious but so far I feel it won't do me any good) or shd I adopt another play style

I think each tank has it's unique play style.. FV4202 losses that nice turret for some great speed and increase in rate of fire so that it can duck away after firing..(If the increased camo rating for being smaller than the 7/1 didn't help) :) Thanks for replying to my comment

8:26 no shit? you have 100% crew in. If you have stock or fully upgraded you can't do good with 50% crew if you can't even hit your target and if you hit it in the bounce spot or low track with no dmg.
The advantages that the 7/1 has over the Patton, as you just laid out Jingles, is a good illustration of power creep in this game. Let's not even mention the death star, but there is no reason the Patton's gun has to have shit aiming time and accuracy. It's a fucking top tier medium for gods sake.

Man people are so pampered with all the new meds and their ultra high pen guns on tier 9. The 20 pounder has low pen you say. Last time i checked it had more pen than the 105mm on the patton. It even has more pen than the 105mm on the e50. How WoT has changed
