- Payal Jain was doing great for herself at one of the largest investment banks, Goldman Sachs. Working on global deals and visiting Manhattan offices, something seemed amiss.
And Payal returned back to India to work on more Indian problems, and she even took a salary cut for that. Here’s how she justifies this career move.
Payal had always believed that India was the place to be in, with the opportunities that were exponentially increasing. She joined Elevar Equity and made her first switch from Investment Banking to Venture Capital.
Her work at Elevar included starting off now unicorns like Lead School with their first investment. Things were looking great for Payal at Elevar, but she decided to make a switch back to Investment Banking in an advisory role, with LoEstro Advisors.
“It’s good to be headed upwards, but are you even on the right ladder?”
And that is the exact philosophical question the answer for which led Payal to making that switch.
With LoEstro she has overseen deals such as the Physicswallah - iNeuron merger among many more. Payal’s career is a testament to grit, perseverance and the non-linear nature of successful careers.
