Like it. One of the things about Robert Plan’s musical meanderings is that the focus is on the music, not just on him. He stands back and blends into it.
The Gallows Pole has been performed many times, many ways. Each time it's performed, the artist usually adds something to the story - a new instrument, a change to the arrangement, or even a verse. Robert Plant has done that to this version. I think it brings a multicultural dimension to the story that adds much to its meaning.
i am not so fond of this version. I know he is "bluegrassing" it because Allison Krause is a co performer. He did a version live as Page/Plant that featured an onl british folk music instrument called a Hurgy Gurdy, I was simply blown away by the contribution and depth that instrument added. The sone was closer to the original. You would have to hear it.
Zep was great because they took many folk and blues songs and changed them from ordinary to incredible. Here, we go back to ordinary. I respect that many like this, but not me.
Ella es Patty Griffin, una cantante de musica folk y es de Austin, Texas. Ella hizo duetos con Robert Plant en las canciónes "Highway Song" y "Ohio". También participó con él en The Band Of Joy. Tiene una carrera musical excelente.
I feel that this is the most natural version of all the Zeppelin songs he does! Gallows Pole was originally a folk song...so this is the closest to the original, unfortunately.
No, not at all. The sound engineer put a bit more reverb on her voice which fits very well to the dryer tuning of Plants voice. Her voice was maybe a bit to loud, but that's the sound engineers attitude, I guess. I would have put down the voice a bit. But that's how it is when things are live and not playback. Sensational!
Yeah, all you need is a guitar tuned to D probably, and a cheap mic, that you can thump the bass drum thunk, with your foot, on the stand, and you got it. I have do it a few times myself, years ago. But yeah, fuse it up. Nothing like a jam session.
Its called Fusion sweetheart, there are all manner of blends out there now. personally I think fusion is wonderful,it doent all work, most of it does, as an"Englis Folkie", Ican honestly say I like this.I dont need everything to be played on sackbutts and and bodhrans, or sung with one finger in the ear while wearing anArran jumper. Celebrate diversity, and if we all mixed and integrated our cultures the way the musicians seem able to do the world would be a better place.)0(
Yes Maggie you're right, it's truly okay. Let rock and live music live. Let's be friends on facebook. Just type "Guenter Prangl". You can hear me sing Zeppelin and AcDc on my page. Rock on! Gü
Beautiful , a great take , hats off to Robert and the band . Not many tracks have me bouncing around the garden in my shreddies 👍🇬🇧

FAVORITE UNDERATED
SONG.,GO ROBERT!
Incredible to see the expansive progression of his music and voice. Life well lived....Thank you Robert.
Zepplin has always been diverse. They go from one extreme to the other with ease. Love the Banjo!
I just love reinterpretations of great songs. This is wonderful, manna for the soul.
THANK U ROBERT...SIR! ! !***

I think it's a pretty good balance...the vocal dynamics are theirs...and Patty can bring it.

Kind of like Blackmore's Night as well.

Just you
Patty Griffin?
Yup, she is.

reservate tus comentarios... mejor =)
mejor reservate tus comentarios =)....
As U say we all gotten older, but I rather see Percy like this than try to be the Zep version. Unlike you, some people like to move on...
LZ is best.
I'm kind of burned on Led Zeppelin and Plant - give it a rest - preferably in peace.
No sir. She became "his" woman because they were singing together, not the opposite.
This is an old English folk song and they are trying to do it as a Moroccan dity. IMHO it doesn't work. The version done on Unledded is far better.
Robert plant very open minded person. page and plant played with street musicians in Marrakesh in morocco
Does anyone else feels like the girl's doesn't let us hear plant? when he can easily do it 1000 times better than her ?
No. Patti Griffin’s there to harmonise and augment the song. It’s not about Plant. If he’s drowned out a bit it’s down to the sound engineer.
good god!!! yaba daba doo shubi dubi doo wtf? butchering a classic :(
This is the hare krishna version of gallows pole. I don´t like it.
