For me, it's that sound. There's just something very iconic about it, but it's one of the first things I notice when I play 'strat-like' guitars is that the sound is different. Sometimes quite a lot.
The strat are a design which goes to the top of the list!.. Feel, fit, sound, looks.. Me, started with different strat type copies, telecasters, LP types, but found out I felt just right, with a strat in my arms!. 😊
Hey Andy... Merry Christmas... my first Strat purchase was an Epic Clapton Model, back in 1995... but I didn't like it, so I took it back to the store asking what I could do... so they told me I could order one of my own design so I waited another several months for the Vintage white Strat Plus Deluxe with Gold Lace Sensor pickups, vintage white pearloid pickguard, roller nut on a vintage tinted neck with maple fretboard and narrow tall frets! It came in a beauty of a tweed case and was a great guitar! I splurged at that time to get a special guitar, and she was special! Years later, I learned what I ordered to my specs of choice weren't far off from Jeff Beck's models. I'm no Jeff Beck, that's for sure, but it still made me feel good that I had a guitar like that for a while. I sold out along with all of my gear when I got married and had a kid... but in recent years, replaced her with several others... one of which is a 60th Anniversary USA, in 2 Tone sunburst... she's equally good, if not better! Strats will always hold a special place in my musical journey!
Wow‼️That was the greatest video I’ve ever seen on RUclips. I’m autistic and keenly interested in how things are made. The first Strats that I ever noticed were the white ones that The Beach Boys played. I was in grade school playing piano, flute and drums, instruments that I’m better suited to. Years later I went into a music store and put my hand around the neck of a new Strat hanging on the wall and I hand some kind of out of the body experience. I was literally lost for several minutes. I came back wanting to have an opportunity to get music out of one of these. I LOVE ❤️🔥 everything about the Strat. When Reuben was talking I got goosebumps. He nailed it. I’ve tried other guitars 🎸 but none of them fit me like a Strat. I’m a really poor player but I’m motivated and I won’t give up because the guitar is the greatest stringed instrument for getting the expression of feelings and the soul. The Blues is my favorite style and then jazz. Thank you so much 🙏for giving us an opportunity to see the Fender factory. Happy Holidays 🎄🎅. 👍☮️🌞🎸🎵
Thank goodness there is no one saying "only a strat can say what a strat it"! :-D Beautiful documentary, great job. Amazing how some bits of wood move us, carry the love and respect of the people designing, building and playing, and are making all our lives more beautiful. Thanks Andy!
As a Fender guy just want to say to everybody at Fender thanks for making affordable guitars for all players around the world , thanks Leo , whatever you are, God bless your soul . Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everybody at Fender . Thanks Andy , easy the best video of 2024, a little bit short , but the pin-up girl foot thing was priceless , well done mate. 👍🏻
Great video Andy, what a brilliant insight into an iconic guitar. For me it’s the way it hugs into you and sits effortlessly in the hand alongside the multitude of tones you can produce. I’m lucky enough to have an early 70’s strat. I will never part with it.
I'm a strat guy , I have 4 Mexican players series and an American pro two, 2 of my players series are 70th anniversary guitars. They're all great guitars. Great video by the way. I would love to visit the Fender factory some day. 👍🎸
I was born in Mexico but lived in the USA since 5, fender to me working with my beautiful people is a perfect example of what beauty can be brought by working together, fender stray made in Mexico make me feel so proud and happy, and an American stray is as special in a different way, this beauty really describes my love for fender over Gibson
Love my strat. It was my first guitar. I've refinished it, relic'd it, put in a new switching options that give me 10 tones instead of 5 and waxed the fretboard. It's my Strat now, as in it is unique. It will be with me for life. I think what makes a strat a strat is the body shape, position of the pickups and the voicing of the pickups.
For me a Strat starts with numbers 25.5 (Scale) 7.25 (Radius) 21 (Frets) 2 and 4 (Positions) 3 (Pickups) 57 and 62 (Years) There in is perfection The neck angle, the headstock that won’t break if you bump it, the contours etc Then there’s the players Jimi Jeff David Nile Stevie Eric (x2) Lowell Eddie It’s history under your hands and it makes you feel alive Viva La Strat!
For me, the Strat is what attracted me to guitar. When I became aware of electric guitar as a kid, the vast majority of players who influenced me were playing some iteration of a Fender Stratocaster. The local guitar hero where I lived as a kid was playing a strat. For me the Stratocaster and the folks who played it was my main inspiration to want to play lead guitar. I have owned many strats over the years, in original configuration as well as highly modified and there's something special about a strat in general. That's my take on it! :-)
Great video. So refreshing to see a tour which doesn’t start by someone shouting over machinery “so here it all starts in the wood-mill”, instead going for a more philosophical approach. And that headstock insight was golden.
The Tele is my all time favorite guitar, but I still love Strats. For me, what makes a Strat a Strat is the body shape, the pickup configuration and the large brass trem block. The true beauty of the Strat is the endless availibilty of after market parts that you can use to MOD and make them your own. I have two Squier Affinitys that I got used for $80 each. The only things original now are the neck and the body, every other part and screw has been replaced. You couldn't walk into a store and buy either of those Strats. They are uniquely my own, and for that reason are priceless to me.
Great video! I have a 2023 Fender limited edition American Professional II Stratocaster. It's the most beautiful guitar I've ever held. I've had hands on many guitars in my 54 years
That was a great video, thank you. I sometimes wish I loved Teles more than strats, maybe because they are considered to have more attitude, but no other guitar shape or tone makes me happier than a strat, it's a life long thing. Thanks Leo.
So much fun Andy thanks for the great content. I'm a Tele man myself, I get it from my Dad I think. But I'm a sucker for a sweet Delonge model. Thanks again.
Love a good Strat! A MIM Standard Strat was my first “real” guitar as a teenager (the super cheap Epiphone that came with the tiny amp as a starter pack was a means to an end, but that’s about it), hard to imagine that was over 20 years ago. I still love them, but I love most guitars. To me the Strat is the best Surf guitar available, and that’s what I like having one around for. I know most people associate them with the blues folks, but for me I’ll always associate it with Dick Dale and of course Hendrix.
I don't own a Strat. But the influence and the detail. Without Leo Fender and the guys making the Stratocaster, I wouldn't have what I have. I am most proud of two guitars I have. 1) A Schecter PT-7. This is a telecaster-style body with 7 strings and Fishman fluence pickup for those who don't know. It's a very "Djenty" guitar. (I don't play Djent, but it works for me.) 2) A custom Telecaster. It has an Okoume wood body, a Wenge wood neck, and a Bare Knuckles Rabea pickups (which are designed to handle higher levels of distortion than most single coils do). See, the advances made in 1954 allowed the Telecaster to shine. It allowed active pickups to eventually become an option. It allowed for higher gain amps to function well. It's all a continuum. Without the Stratocaster, I wouldn't enjoy what I have.
i play a 72 strat big head stock 3 hole neck plate its pure perfection. tried gibson, epiphone charvel, jackson, kramer but the strat wins. your a lucky lad to go to the factory.
Man, Andy, you’re so close to me I live in Oregon maybe not so close. You’re about eight hours or nine hours from me if you make your way down to Oregon specifically Eugene, Oregon, you should send me a message because I would really really like to have a cup of coffee with you I know this is completely not gonna happen but hey, what the hell I figured I’d roll the dice. Cheers,Andy
What I find remarkable is: Fender didn’t come up with the 5-way switch until 1977! So 23 years of players figuring out how to “park” the 3-way switch to get the 2 & 4 positions, which are THE tones of a Strat.
Another great video from The Guitar Geek packed full(erton?) of interesting history - I never knew that about the headstock! - but why the subtitles? I don’t seem to be able to get rid of them and they’re really distracted not to mention inaccurate! Any, when are you going to the Gibson factory? ❤
The comfort carves and the way it sits on you. I can't imagine how other worldly that shape and contouring must've been when it was launched. Initial revulsion?
The feeling that Mark described about the Strat, from before he ever learned how to play, is the same feeling that I've always had about the Les Paul. To me, Les Paul's are magical, and Strats are just "eh." But.... Thanks for the video Andy! Looking forward to more great videos in 2025.
The bridge system defines the tonality of a Stratocaster, first and foremost. THAT ... from a Stratocaster player since 1963 (1954 Stratocaster, my very first guitar).
I think a Stratocaster is that guitar that comes out with that name from the Fender factory. As if it looks like a mandolin, it doesn't matter. It will always be what they say, hehe.
I have a 2008 or 2007 Fender American standard Strat , at least it was when I bought it new. It has been a love hate relationship with the guitar and Fender being more expensive is not the answer.
Wish they would give me a vintage neck (chunky and maybe even chunky soft v profile neck but with modern fingerboard radius). Closest neck like that I’ve found is on the EJ Strat but wish they would use those specs on models that aren’t signature guitars. Oh and get rid of the screw in Tremelo arms and do a push in.
Great video Andy. I have never seen a Fender Factory tour where they show how they make the pickguards or the pickups. Are they made off site, or, do they just don't want to show the machines at work?
I own 2 strats ( mexicans) and i love them to death! I bought the special editio. Shell pink and now i got the player II series and those two are such great guitars! And a charvel sean long model also mexi made . I have not tried an USA model but i would love to see the differences if there are some (which i guess there will be ). Great video! As always🎉
.....and so, the lowly and humble Strat went on to solve world hunger, made peace all throughout the world, won the Nobel and Pulitzer prizes, and is now head of the United Nations. Man! What a life!

Is this even a real question. Guitar players already know.
For me, it's that sound. There's just something very iconic about it, but it's one of the first things I notice when I play 'strat-like' guitars is that the sound is different. Sometimes quite a lot.
The versatility, the feel, the sound, and like the great white shark, it doesn't need to evolve

I don't own a strat, but seeing this video showcasing all the love people at Fender put into them, I think I'm sure I need one!
You really do. Trust me. I have several and they are all awesome 👏.
Yeah this kind of quality manual labor could never be done anywhere but in the good 'ol USA ;-)
This was a joy to edit! However getting past the finish line was a tough one haha
Yes it was! Great work on this my dude

Great job!
Thank you for all of your hard work. This video is a treasure.
From content to production quality one of the best vids I have seen.
Thank you so much
@TheGuitarGeek I would just like to second that but it's not just this video that's great...all your videos are boss mate xx
Nearly teared up when everyone, especially Mark and Ruben spoke. Such care and passion
Brilliant work Andy. I love how you got so many human stories. That’s what brings the heart and soul to your video. Love it.

IMO, the Strat is the most iconic electric guitar shape. When I hear someone talking about guitars, this is the first shape I imagine.

The strat really is the pinnacle of industrial design
Great job Andy!! I'm so jealous, I've been a Fender junkie my whole life..

The Strat is my favorite guitar. Most comfortable, most versatile and easy to mod.

Great video

All is Incredible with Your reviews
I agree with the 1056 neck. I've got Blackie right here (well, obviously not the real one). And it's been my favourite neck ever since I picked it up.
THE STRAT ITS THE GIFT FROM MAESTRO LEO FENDER TO THE MUSICIANS WORLD.......
I don't think I'll ever be able to un-see that headstock now 😆🤣
This should be on the Teli or a streming service of your choice. Great factory tour!
That would be cool!
i play a 72 strat big head stock 3 hole neck plate its pure perfection. tried gibson, epiphone charvel, jackson, kramer but the strat wins. your a lucky lad to go to the factory.
I did not have "Leo Fender was a foot guy" on my bingo card when I started watching this
What is Strat? The sound and the iconic shape.Even if you are not a guitarist you should have one .

A Strat is any guitar that Fender decides to put the Stratocaster name onto.
I think you might wanna keep that 70s anniversary strat. I've seen some review of It from some dude on youtube. It sounded really nice.
This is my Wonka factory!
This was a fun video to wake up to this morning.

What I find remarkable is: Fender didn’t come up with the 5-way switch until 1977! So 23 years of players figuring out how to “park” the 3-way switch to get the 2 & 4 positions, which are THE tones of a Strat.
Talk about dedication to their customers' needs...

I’d love to have experienced the first year and what it did for guitar
I have a MB strat this guy make, serial number is 1111 and it is awesome, good to see the maker hahha.
Great video. I have yo ask. Why the mandatory captions. When youtube already provides captions that can turned off and on as required?
The feeling that Mark described about the Strat, from before he ever learned how to play, is the same feeling that I've always had about the Les Paul. To me, Les Paul's are magical, and Strats are just "eh."
