This is honestly one of the best skits SNL has put out.
Totally agree- SNL is a hit or (mostly) a miss for me, but Donald Glover knocked it out of the ball park. All of the skits were totally timely and relevant. The "Friendo spoof" on today's rap scene was right on.

Sam Maluth it's a rap ad lib, not an acting ad lib. In rap it's used to add emphasis to words and lines, and it could be anything from repeating a word to growling

The fact that they are showing that going to therapy is nothing to be ashamed of is the best part about this. A seriously great concept for a sketch that will help make a difference without people even realizing it!
Yes and no. The foundation of the joke is that these hard rappers are in talking about emotions. I.e., part of why we're laughing is the juxtaposition between "tough" men and the inherent weakness of talking about one's feelings. But hopefully it helps destigmatize therapy for some people.
I see where you are coming from..and I completely agree that this stigma surrounding masculinity and bettering oneself through therapy has to go. The reason I think this video is positive is because it is showing actual improvements because they are opening up. It's kinda like the sketch is saying "if only "hard" men could do this"

You can tell Donald Glover is a great writer first and foremost. This is the funniest SNL has been in a long time.
This has been a favorite sketch for a min. Then the break, and now...I wish Takeoff was still here. He was funny and apparently the lyrical key to the group. Quavo has the unique voice. Crazy now the dynamic shown here and therapy theme.
