This song saved my life while I was in middle and high school, not even joking. I was being mentally and physically ab*sed by my adoptive parents and I was very seriously contemplating ending my life after my parents abandoned me and being left with monsters. Radioheads music made me feel seen and that I wasn't alone. Their music kept me holding on and this song in particular, allowed me to escape to an okay place in my head. Thank you Radiohead, you helped me stay and I am doing well today at age 30. Radiohead rules forever
I'm so sorry and saddened you experienced that. Absolutely heartbreaking. Yet I'm equally grateful you found a respite, and what a refuge you found here! These guys among with a few other bands keep me going too. Live well friend, sending love 🙏
hey random guy on the internet who I've never met and probably will never talk to again, you're awesome, thanks for sticking to... life... As someone who was also saved by Radiohead in the middle of a depression spiral, thanks for sharing that story, Ig I'm not alone on this front either teehee
this music stopped me from killing myself as a child being extremely abused...this song was my saving grace and safe place I could always rely and escape in
OMFG !! when i was a teen i videotape this show from tv it was my treasure tape , i saw the show everyday when i come back from school but one day my older sister toke the tape and she used to record some f...king yoga tv show!!! i almost kill her , i was so mad i cry alot , that was in 1997, now i found it on youtube so awesome thanks for upload this show its just wonderful.
to be honest, that was gorgeous. i would've killed to be there. all it really needed was Ed singing backup and the electronic bit at the end and it would've been perfect. beautiful singing from Thom.
this is song is a unique masterpiece, possibly my favourite and also extremely rare at radiohead concerts i remember seeing thom yorke in person running at the beach in RIO - such a coincidende, a i was with some friends and then we just saw him!!! - i was there for the concert in 2009 - and i shouted "please thom, play let down" ok, I know that was impossible, but it was still a remarkable concert
I like this version so much because the main melody (which is played by a guitar in the studio version) is played by another instrument that makes it sound so sweet and cute, like a music box!
This was actually the first song that hooked me on Radiohead, and it took a few headphone sessions to hear all of the texture off OK Computer -- this is a great live version!!
I discovered this song when I watched the last episode of The Bear from S1. The best needle drop moment in my life. Been listening to this track every single day
Punk rockers in the late 80's were dismissive of so-called "EMO-UK-jangle-Pop" But here we see the perfect fruition of the "genre" One of my fav songs, ever.

really wish they would play this song live, I've had the privilege to see them 5 times (3 pit) and there was once a hint that they would play it and ended up playing something else as if to tease everyone. Hope I am able to see the performance of this song and Subterranean Home Sick Alien live.
Yeah, that's bloody brilliant. Probably my favourite part in any Radiohead song, bar the 'I am up in the clouds' bit in WIEAYB and the ending bit of Pyramid Song.
@sara17ification Absolutely agree....their music saved me from drowning, and this song is simply beyond words, i cannot survive a day without Radiohead.s music!
I was about to say the same thing. In studio version when the chorus kicks in it gives me the feeling that is hard to describe, like the whole song is full of Thoms voice. It makes me shiver too. And the live version is great but just not that great. plus I really miss the last verse and chorus that Thom skips.
@feedtherich Well not everyone has to like this song.... Just tell me why you dont like it, when i wasnt a RH fanboy i bought Ok computer and i thought, damm this is boring, but then one day i was very sad cause an uncle died and i was hearing music from my celphone laying on the bed and then this song played and i found it very beautiful, since that day this is my favorite RH song. Every Radiohead song has its moment to be heard.
I will check if I managed to get this track also from the earlier generation tape.... I have three versions of this gig now... only uploaded some bits.
The Tourist from the same gig (I'd posted it a month or so ago...) is another one that just knocks you off your feet. I'll try to up some more, time permitting...
Absolutely the best medicine: When she left me: Lurgee (I feel better I got strong) When I left her: Motion Picture Soundtrack (I will see you in the next life) When I feel love will touch me again soemday: True love waits (on haunted attics) When I feel I can leave my fears: Let down (one day, I'm going to grow wings, a chemical reaction !!) THANKS GOD, THANKS THOM, THANKS RADIOHEAD
when you are a 14 years old lil brat, and you are suffering for that damn girl....the can listen the "The Bends" and formerly adopt Radiohead as your favorite band. Once you get over that depressing time, you can listen to "OK Computer" and say"all this things that i´ve been hearing and i thought was "music"was not, and Radiohead was probably the best gift ou can get after all that pains, AND THEN you listen to "Let Down"..and realize that happines was always there, in your playlist. My history
Live "Let Down" never quite impresses me as much as the studio version. I'm not sure why... Don't get me wrong, this is a good performance, but it doesn't bowl me over emotionally the way the version on OK Computer does.
@@papermatefulthat for sure but there's also something about the production, I guess it's that reverbered sound that is on the entire album but it gives to this song something special, makes it perfect, I don't know..
¿Qué significa "bien chingon"? porque siempre lo veo escrito y no entiendo lo que significa, no estoy jodiendo pasa que soy de sudamérica y aca no se usa esa palabra.
@feedtherich this is one of their only songs where perhaps the live performance is not as good as the recording. still, if you listen to that and you can not follow the beautiful overlapping syncopated rhythms flowing into thoms falsetto over top of another recording of his voice singing the chorus, well then maybe you are just bad at listening to music
Possibly the best song ever written
Agreed. Ridiculously complex music that somehow flows perfectly. Great lyrics. Radiohead at their absolute best.
Could not agree more. Def in the top 5. Brilliant
I agree
I also have a few others that qualify
How about 'paranoid android' for the first place?

seriously, i honestly think this may be the best song ever written.
Also probably the best live performance of it too

Brilliant.
I deeply regret never seeing Radiohead live.
We'll see them one day!!!
One day, i'm gonna grow wings... to travel some capital where they use to make concerts 😢
this song means the world to me

Man, I wish Ed would have done the backing vocals on this one..
I wonder why he didn't in this perfomance
they are both from thom the vocals

I associate this song with really sad parts of my life, I then look back and relieve through the music but it always makes me feel better
My favorite song to listen to while hammered and crying 😂😭

Probably the most emotional song ever written
Wish I wasn't born in 91 so I witness this in person...
+Dominick U I feel the same :(
25 years later, I saw them live for the first time and they played Let down. MAGICAL
I wish I wasn't born in 98 so I could even remeber that.
They should play Let Down live more often.
The Bear, 1x08, beautyful
One of the greatest songs ever written. The lyrics, the complexity of the rhythm, the bridge. Flawless, the emotions this song makes me feel ❤️
Their brilliance never fails to amaze me. This song just sends my emotions into overdrive
I discovered this song when I watched the last episode of The Bear from S1. The best needle drop moment in my life. Been listening to this track every single day
same :(
Yes, indeed this is a real MASTERPIECE!!! This song is simply perfect... Just as OKC!
Is it sad that this song means more to me than anybody who has ever been in my life? Just let down after Let Down.
This song is very very beautiful!!!
Always was my all-time favourite Radiohead song ♥
Wonderful live performance, thanks..
