From my own experience of song writing, not saying I'm as good as these guys lol but generally I think most artists struggle to actually see how good they are because they're typically perfectionists and so whatever they make isn't good enough, it can always be improved and there will always be things they're not happy with.
To everyone else it sounds amazing but when you know every single aspect note to note you can spot the imperfections quite easily. It's like athletes or racing drivers, if you tell them their lap was perfect, they will almost always disagree and say there was areas that could have been improved. It's all relative to how skilled you are basically.
In my experience I only ever see how good my stuff is years later when I've forgot all about it and I come back to it almost as a listener and not a creator. It's only then I can enjoy it and appreciate it for what it is. But at the time, because I'm such a perfectionist, I would actually go on to hate my music because I would never be able to achieve this perfectionist idea that I had in my head. It's really an endless pursuit and most artists are like this to one degree or another.
Chances are, they might have kinda known it was a good song, they obviously felt something from it, but they wouldn't have had any concept of how good. It's rare artists know how good they are in reality.

@@kevinphysioc3983 You are talking nonsense. Radiohead did not steal Where Is My Mind to write Karma Police. The two songs are very different. Different melody, different chords, different instrumentation. Maybe RH used the rhythm and groove as inspiration, but come on... this is literally how musicians write new songs.
I’m no music noob. I’ve listened to countless artists and still I find Radiohead to be so good at what they do, they deserve a place among the greats. In my opinion very few bands or artists have shown the same level of creativity, consistency and innovation that they have. Their fanbase is like a cult because there really is no other group like them. Dosen’t mean others aren’t great too (because they are), but RH speaks to people in a way that is different from all the rest. That’s how good they are.

For anyone that's let life and age log a lotta miles on their soul you get the song a lot more especially if you had such a keen sense of things when you were younger that became more dull as the years passed by. It's about the mundane routine of illusion because that's all there really is, just illusion. I loved this song back when it first came out and I discovered Radiohead. It really nails it now that I'm much, much older. It's truly amazing how well Thom and the lads captured this at their wee age back then. It's nothing short than musical genius.

WOW SO LOVING THIS VERSION! gracious ME LOL THOM I HOPE YOU ARE BLESSED W/ HAPPINESS... It seems nowadays. The best singers have such sad souls and make such beautiful ❤💚💜 🎶 music. Almost seems like your soul must be hurting like .... may.... Be... in a way of the world as if were waiting on the world to change. Or maybe we are L❤VED. OR WE'VE FELT LOVE OR WE ARE LOVED regardless it seems in my personal assumption That the heart❤ has to go through some type of pain and become heavy...(which is a part of life 4 most. I mean if ur human😌)so an aching 💙 that yearns for something more something you may not even know what it is. Once we go through this. THIS 🎶 seems 2 have a certain touch personally on our souls. I'm not just talking about this song, but bc of my boyfriend whom I'm non longer with. I don't want to call him an Ex he's more than that.😔 I never gave Thom Yorke/ Radio head a chance bc of my 💓 he'd told me his 1st love liked them. So I completely pretty much shut them out in my head besides the songs that I knew..
(that were popular.) Now that I've given them a chance only since breaking up & recently him making a playlist for me which i believe is public ''for being such a crappy friend'' look it up on here RUclips under "Sycamore shade" do i now GET IT. I FEEL IT. I HAVE A HEAVY ❤ HE KNEW THIS. if there's anything Sycamore shade is good at which there is a lot but making a playlist is definitely at the top of the list. Along with a lot more but movies and music yes I definitely trust his judgement should have all along... But as conor oburst once saying " you will" I hope we get that chance to boomerang back 2 one another but rn the timing is just not right. We both have healing to do. Oh btw yess three talking at the end stopped the Tears and i got a good laugh. Thanks AK

The day we kissed it was unexpected for both of us. We seemed to be going towards pursuing something but then he found out he got her pregnant shortly after. Communication declined, his life became work and coparenting; we haven’t seen each other since August 2020. He is a good man, I just think it was right person wrong time.

True. Thom left the concert unfinished and that night wrote fake plastic trees... For this reason Jeff Buckley lived thinking that Thom Yorke hated his music and performance. By the way, Thom Yorke had covered Tim Buckley´s song for Jeff "SIng a song for you" ruclips.net/video/0JfY-40k68Y/видео.html In the next albums Thom forced his falsetto to new places.

@@kmtungstall759 false. They had already written fake plastic trees and tried recording it couple of times but it did not feel right to Thom. The night that they saw Jeff is when Thom discovered how he wanted to sound for this song and what he learnt became integral part of his vocal technique. Thom essentially discovered an aspect of his singing through Buckley that night.
