The tip to use the same colour top and bottom is spot on. I love colour and I found out to create a vertical with it by pairing a darker shade on the bottom (like a dark burgundy) with a lighter shade on top (like a rose red). This way the vertical isn't interrupted and interest is added to the outfit. Dark khaki and dark teal work great too :)
Thank you for the thorough walk through, and the tips about finding our casual/formal colors, our ideal red, and matching our earrings to our clothing's hardware. I've never heard any of that from other videos. It will really help me narrow down items when shopping.
Exactly, I put on a super cute shirt with (let's say) a big Minnie Mouse and I look so silly. Whilst my best friend, who I think is a dramatic, looks perfect.
What an absolutely fabulous video! Your premise about classics and very little if any visuals or information is correct. It's just not on Pinterest and it's just not anywhere. Thank you for your investigation and presenting the research especially with regard to the vertical. You are bringing to the fore the most important aspects of being classic. Very, very much appreciated!
So true Claudia. Hehe you are all high, high maintenance. My sister and I were just talking about it. She was sending me pictures about whether she should buy certain outfits and I kept saying, ‘no that’s a natural outfit’. It’s a challenge, that’s for sure. Keep us up to date how you go.
@@NesKimStyle I also tend to lean into some natural style. I feel more myself in a rather casual outfit. Mostly I struggle with shoes since I like sneakers but they can destroy a classics outfit. Boots are fine in winter and autumn. Also so many fabrics tend to pilling (which is a no no with classics 🤣). Even my cashmere stuff is pilling like hell...
@@claudiah8905 yep no pilling fabric hehe 😜 you make me chuckle. What I suggest is you go for your Zyla personal colours. Hair and eye colours are your casual colours. You will find it will tone down your classic formal clothes in the right way
Thank you so much for this advice and analysis! I've been typed as a dramatic classic, but I've heard so many RUclipsrs describe the classic types as average, nothing standing out, and to just wear simple clothing. As someone who loves fashion, this was my worst nightmare. Thank you for honoring what is beautiful about the classic body type!
Would you consider filming a video all about creating a (capsule or full) wardrobe for Soft Dramatics? I’d love to see how you created your wardrobe. Thank you so much for all of your videos they have been incredibly helpful ❤
It’s difficult for SD to wear casual, we do look very sloppy when we don’t wear our lines. Try one expensive looking piece with casual outfits like a gorgeous bag, scarf, sunglasses. It will lift the outfit up
Hi everyone, thanks for joining me here again. Here is a link if you missed the video on figuring out your signature colours. It is very important to know this when you are building a capsule wardrobe for your Kibbe Body Type. ruclips.net/video/D8xMhU3h9ww/видео.html
I’m a classic and so bored with the preppy styles! Maybe sometime you could give some ideas that look great but aren’t so conservative? I’m going to work on getting pieces of the same color (other than black) in the meantime. This was such a helpful video. Thank you for the work you put in for us!❤
I really like the way you conveyed the information in the video and the images of the clothes were excellent. Lucky Carren!! ❤️😘 I'm excited to say that yesterday I picked up David Zyla's book from the library that I had on request. I'm making my way through it and my eye colour is throwing up some contradiction so I'm getting my head around it. At first glance, I've assessed myself as a Vivid Winter w Earthly Philosopher archetype. Interestingly, the irises of my eyes are golden brown. I've stayed away from golds and browns because they don't suit my cool skin tone. I'll stay open minded and see what the end result will be. What an exciting exploration and adventure! ❤️🙏🌹
How exciting. I have similar contradictions. David does say some people just don’t look good wearing their eye colour or at least some of the colours in the iris, so you have to see what works for you 💓🎁. Have fun
Thank you for taking the time to discuss these ideas! It really is hard to find pictures and clothes for dramatic classic, especially casual everyday looks! Your videos are so helpful! I am happy to subscribe, and spend more time watching!
Very interesting video! However I don't agree on the one colour column. I don't think it's my best look (I'm a classic). But maybe I just find it boring and like more contrast in my looks. Tonal looks in the same colour family look good on me, so there's something to it!
Its perfectly fine to have tonal colour for a classic. The monochrome top to bottom can be overwhelming and classic s should never look overwhelmed. A lot needs to go into monochrome looks like texture of fabrics, accessories - buttons, zips, jewellery, bags, hats and shoes - it can look extremely classy when done right but if we aren’t going to have all those accessories then tonal or some congruent look is great
interesting, it always burns my eyes when my jewelry is not matching with my hardware, I don't leave my home with unmatching metals. And yeah, I am a poor student but someone told me once I look like a millionaire's daughter taking a walk at Lake Garda. xD
Hey Vanessa, I found you on Beauty as beings video. I love your personality and the way you explain things.Although I'm not a soft dramatic, I find it very interesting when you ladies compare yourselves with other types. It helps me to see what I'm not and therefore helps me confirm what I am which is a soft classic. It is so hard to find balanced separates that fit my climate ( South Florida) and lifestyle, casual. Fit and flare dresses look and feel the best on me like your sister in laws' navy dress. The bulk of these types of dresses are found in retro/ vintage online stores, from the 40',50's Era. Although I know they would really flatter me, I don't want a head to toe 50s look. Dita von Teese is some sort of classic and it suits her perfectly, that's not me. Would you mind sharing some online shops you recommended to you sis? I'm also going through the Zyla method for narrowing down my colors. I found out I'm a deep autumn on Truth is Beauty's website. However there are SO many colors to choose from and I love them all. It's difficult to narrow down a realistic color palette. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and insight. You make the process fun and exciting. You are truly an inspiration, God bless you in your studies. Please keep us updated on how your wardrobe is progressing. You look very beautiful in what you've shown us!!!
You are such a beautiful heart ❤️ thank you for your lovely message. Yes the soft classic needs a very balanced look and Dita is taking that look more to the soft (romantic) and less of the classic mainly with the accessories and makeup which are too extreme and theatrical for classic types. I understand your dilemmas. As far as online stores I will do some investigating… my sister in law finds the brand Max Mara gorgeous and in Australia she shops at Portmans and Review. That blue dress she bought is a very good example of what to look for and I think because-you can see that half the battle is won.
@@NesKimStyle Thank you for your reply!! It's been very hot here so I've lived in my cheap summer dresses. I've been using the recommendations for soft classic in shoes and accessories. It made a difference in the overall look and feel of the outfit. What's interesting is that I already had a lot of the recommended sizes and shapes for the accessories and shoes before I discovered the Kibbe system. I will check out Max Mara for some fall pieces so that I have something nice when it cools off down here. Thanks again!!
The thing about same color from top to toe is so right for me as a dramatic classic---thanks for reminding me. I always break the verticle line with different colors and hate it, what's wrong with me 😉
I've taken the Kibbe test, carefully and honestly, and come out a C with DC tendencies, yet whenever I wear DC or C clothing, I feel like I'm wearing someone else. Just doesn't feel like "me". Also, I'm a soft autumn, so high contrast black, white, cool blues, reds, wear me instead of me wearing them (I do like the colours and styles you present at 9:40 though). I'm so confused! I'm 61 with a gentle pear shape and casual lifestyle, so no need for fancy dresses. Any suggestions?
I second this comment on wearing someone else and soft autumn coloring! Crazy enough my maiden name is McCoy! 😱 I have found rich mustard, warm greens, rich navy, warm greys, black and gold (NO SILVER!), and creams to be flattering on me. I really don’t like wearing tailored and preppy clothing all the time, it makes me feel a bit stuck up. I’m still looking for pieces that will flatter my silhouette but be a bit more relaxed. The hunt continues!
My uniform is a nicely fitted but not tight sweater (dark gray or black works on me), and dark or light slim straight blue jeans, flat simple gray sneakers or black Chelsea boots. Anything that fits well and is cut close but not tight works so well on my classic frame. Give that a try and hope it works for you too!
I finally invested in a professional colour analysis. Turns out, I'm a Bright Winter 😱. I was shocked, but the evidence was there in the mirror. I realized I had been ignoring the compliments (and my own eyes) the rare times I wore my best bright colours. I didn't want to be noticed. I'm slowly getting used to wearing brights, and admiring silver jewelry next to my skin (which I always avoided 🤷♀️). I guess I can be a Kibbe C/DC in full body cobalt blue, magenta, or emerald green.
@@marianmccoy6097 I understand about that not being noticed thing, my outfit uniform is all about simplicity and not standing out. So glad you found out your color seasons and definitely think those colors can be worn very nicely in classic lines. Cheers!
I’ve watched a lot of YT re Kibbe style and pretty confident about my type, style and essence but I do love a good book 😀 Would you recommend Metamorphisis? Did it add much to your knowledge? As an aside, I don’t find David Kibbe and his wife’s dress styles engaging - wondering if it’s just more of them? Love from Adelaide. 🍷
It is very expensive and in all honesty you can find everything you need to on each body type online. Obviously you are getting everything first hand and in one place with the book. It is out of print but there are resellers.

Geez, administrators of the Strictly Kibbe Group kick members off their group for mentioning your name and your technique how to make a dress fit and others for commenting that hairstyles are universal and don`t belong to a certain race. Cultural marxism is really a curse on society, it kills fun and creativity.
Oh my goodness that’s sad 😢 but I did have a chuckle too 😀 As much as I adore David and can see what the Strictly Kibbe concept is, it’s patriarchal ... not understanding how social media works and that interaction and learning together even if one makes mistakes is part of the fun and what it means to be in a community in my humble opinion 💝
I take your point and you are right. Will try to do that. Unfortunately my pictures are all sourced from Pinterest and as explained it is practically impossible to get an image for a classic Kibbe type with a garment that actually is worn the way a classic should wear it. I have searched for plus size classics to no avail. Nevertheless I will continue my search . Once you identify your kibbe body type remember though the lines remain the same for any size. This has been the big realisation for me with my own body type. I will definitely look out for more plus size model pics. You are right!
Thanks love. It’s poor lighting unfortunately. It depends when I have a spare moment to do a video to share what I’m learning from Kibbe because I study full time at uni. It’s not any type of full on youtube influencer thing. Just sharing from my heart. Xx
