Hello everyone thanks for joining me. I had a real revelation about casual outfits for Kibbe Body Types. One long of colour suits most of us, yet find matching-pieces in the shops can be so challenging. It's not easy for me. I look just good enough in most colors that it simply seems like I am a person who is only moderately attractive or unattractive and it makes no difference which color I wear. Until I run into the very few colors that make that difference and then people are much kinder to me and stop acting like I am being fake with them all the time.

      I think I fall into a "color crack" lol so-to-speak because my hair is lighter with some red in it; however, I feel much better and much more "at home" in cool colors. It seems for decades that people try to put me in very warm colors but those colors make my skin look washed out and I literally feel very blah and badly. I recently found info that perhaps investigating the "cooler" aspects of red (mauve or burgundy overtones) may work along with my green eyes. Or maybe even "violet" hues. I'm still searching

  • @Nerdy-By-Nature
    @Nerdy-By-Nature 3 месяца назад

    I have been playing with 16 seasons, as well, because the traditional Summers seem to drain me. Winter seems to work better but it's a bit *too* much, too heavy. I recently discovered a version of 16 seasons with Cool Summer, which is Summer bordering Cool Winter. It has just a hint of softness, I would describe it as medium brightness/clarity, medium-dark value/contrast, completely cool. This one seems to work best for me, so far, and I keep getting "oh wow, that's really your color!" when I wear the palette. Definitely more successful than True Summer or True Winter. And I can use a fair amount of Cool Winter. I really like the Deep Summer too, though. From what I've been seeing it borders on Deep Winter, so the barest hint of warmth. Those greens especially work well on me.

    • @NesKimStyle
      @NesKimStyle 3 месяца назад

      That sounds fantastic. What is that palette called? Sounds like we are on a similar path.

    • @Nerdy-By-Nature
      @Nerdy-By-Nature 3 месяца назад

      @@NesKimStyle the palette is called Cool Summer from International Image Institute. Two analysts on RUclips that I've found use Cool Summer - Carol Brailey (though I don't entirely agree with her methods) she uses International Image, and Sarah Ryan The Style Coach (really like her in depth draping videos). I haven't figured out which system Sarah uses, but she uses a 16 season approach. So as an example the Summers would be Light Summer (sistering to Light Spring), Soft Summer (Sistering to Soft Autumn), Cool Summer (sistering to Cool Winter), or True Summer (able to wear all three Summer palettes successfully), and so on with the other seasons.

    This so helpful. In my case I spent so much money buying unflattering clothes that did not fit you know a line skirts , mid rise trousers, cardigans, knee length skirts because they did not cater to me . I got some patterns from Burda and began sewing skirts a version of a bodycon that was extremely flattering and then I began to lose weight because I was happier in my appearance. I don’t do laid back boohoo or class ic styling , I do mad men and full glam and snatched waists, high waist jeans with stretch

    As a classic, it can seem boring at first, however when I dress myself in a typical classic outfit, I look phenomenal and get way more compliments like “you look great” rather than “that is a cute dress”. The compliment is about me, not my clothes. My go to outfit combo is a form fitting sleeveless mock neck tops or square neck high quality tank tops with a knee length pencil skirt. I have different types of pencil skirts too, I have pin stripes and solid colors. Pin stripes are my best pattern, along with solid colors with fine details like stitching and strategically placed zip locations for decals. My best footwear are kitten heel slip on sandals or loafers for casual days. Pumps for formal. I do have some glittery shoes and sandals but the cuts of the shoes are classic, it’s not over powering at all, the only word I can think of to describe it is “tasteful” it’s not cheap and tacky looking, with classics we can look cheap and tacky easily with too much glitter item lol

    Your videos are so comfortable to listen to and I'm always so happy to hear of fellow SD's talking of their experiences. It seems pretty universal that many of us have always felt too big/curvy/tall/space taking/whatever, especially growing up. I'd like to point out that not all SD's are hourglass shaped though. Most have upper curve, but I believe Kibbe himself doesn't use accomodations in a formulaic manner, so not all SD's will have upper curve either. It's helpful to spot it on you to possibly tell whether you're SD, D or FN though if you're tall and can't tell otherwise. I am almost 5'9 and more rectangular or apple shaped at any weight. My shape is very similar to Sophia Loren's but straighter or thicker at the waist. But when I look at your body shape drawing I can still say we're the same type and I'm not like your the DC drawing. It's interesting!

  • @cadaver6665

    This is very interesting. I'm SD with gamine essence in the Kitchener system and I know others who have this combo as well, and it feels like a strange one but somehow makes sense. I think it's why some SD recs don't work on me perfectly well and I think I look better with very short hair, as long as it's voluminous enough. I've heard that both gamines and SD's often tend to look pretty young for their age and that's certainly true for me.

    Hello! I just wanted to say thank you so much for all of your wonderful videos! I'm not even certain that I am SD, but I've had many Aha moments watching your videos! All of the typical info out there can lead one to sometimes immediately disqualify themselves from one type or another. You bring to light that there is somewhat of a spectrum here. For instance, I have a tummy for sure, and if I tuck anything in, it isn't pretty 😅 I'm 58 years old. I am 5'9", so I can only be 1 of the 3 types. I feel like I pull a little from each type... maybe a hybrid of sorts 😂 Your info makes sense to me. My waist is very high on my frame, and I find it very difficult to find clothing that works. Unstructured doesn't work, and too structured doesn't work. The lines for waist, and pockets and belts rarely ever sit in the right place on my frame. Always too high! SD seems a mix of the 2 extremes (structured and unstructured). What throws me off is that my features are not lush, but rather small almond-shaped eyes and shapely-but-small lips. I have discounted SD for that reason alone, but thanks to you, I'm realizing that I just need to try your suggestions, and if they work, they work! Sorry for the long comment, but I really do appreciate all you do. You are beautiful, and I look forward to your content so much! ❤ I really love when you show clothing that works for you! ❤

    I'm excited to watch your new videos! I totally agree with you about the value and beauty in embracing who you really are, not what you wish you were. I stopped colouring my hair in March 2020, wanting to see what I really look like now. Yes, my hair is grey but that's reality, not fantasy. And I love your natural hair colour on you, too. It's so rich and warm.

  • @Nerdy-By-Nature
    @Nerdy-By-Nature 9 месяцев назад

    I absolutely love my natural hair color, but I had never been able to "match" it in an off the rack color that looks flattering on me. When I did Zyla I realized when I zoom in on my lightest area of hair it's around a champagne or pearl, and the darkest is surprisingly akin to an aubergine - NOT camel, not gold, not yellow, not orange (some of my worst colors to wear). Still a bit hard for me to find those *exact* colors off the rack, but I do love wearing white, or icy champagne, and plum/mid-deep purples. A lot of times I lean into my 1st base for a monochromatic look, which is a very deep blue-green. I like how it contrasts with my hair and gives me a little more definition. As someone who looks best in pure cool hues, inherent hair colors for clothes can be a little tricky. Very clever idea with the color wheel!

      @NesKimStyle 10 месяцев назад

      How exciting to be figuring out how to incorporate your beautiful unique features into a color system that works for you. I have the same colour ing as you including hazel eyes. Stick to the cool side and find your sweetpoint on the color wheel - the colours gradually darken from grey to black. Too much grey in the color may wash you out, too much black in color overpowers. Also go to a fabric store or find in your clothing an exact match for your hair and eyes. These won’t be on the color wheel but are crucial to create a base for all your other cool colours. All the best with your fun color exploration 💕

      So cool hearing stories like this. I was typed as a Spring, then a Summer, at one point a "Toasted Autumn" (which looked truly nauseating), and it turns out I'm a DYT Type 4. I look my very best in pure cool hues and it has been life changing for me, as well!! Never received so many compliments, or felt so confident.
