I have escaped a stalker, I don't want him to know where I live, if some stupid narcissist films me and he would be on tiktok or it would go viral to another platform, I will have a problem again. it's not that hard to just blurr faces in the background.
This is so inappropriate most especially in the middle east. Don’t do this in an Arab country, you’ll end up in jail if you get caught filming strangers at the background of your photo or video.
It's gotten to the point where it's stressful to be out and about in public, especially during events and the like. I hate it when people bring up that stupid argument of "no expectation of privacy in public". It's an old and outdated law and mindset and it needs to be updated. Videos and pictures no longer stay private. They are uploaded online and have a massively global reach, forever, for anyone to do who-god-knows with, to pick apart, to use in ways I don't want to think about. Ugh.
Yeah, can you imagine the amount of stress and anxiety you’d be feeling in that situation? Your kids stranded and you feel helpless to resolve the situation and your body is going to be pumping full of adrenaline that you’ve got no real useful outlet for. What a shock that she’s not able to come across as serene and polite to those around her.
@@garycheesman6821 I literally can’t imagine that. I would lose my mind if my cat was stranded for a day. I can’t imagine a child. Also as a child I flew alone at 12. The whole experience was scary and I practiced the whole thing. If something went wrong I would have had an anxiety attack. Like staying in a hotel room alone? Absolutely not
You’re 100% right about the find him stuff being stalking!!! So creepy. Also speaking of stalking, imagine trying to get away from an abusive ex? A cult? Being in witness protection? I only have ptsd and this sets me off so badly, I can’t imagine having social anxiety or something like that. I genuinely feel bad if I photograph/film someone by accident in the background of something I will never post. I delete it. These people are so entitled to assume that others want to be plastered all over the internet for thousands or even millions of people to stare at and comment on
My Personal experience. An irritated tourist called me "Karen" because I wouldn't let him take a picture of my toddler playing on the beach in her bathing suit. If I'm "Karen" based on that, so be it then...
what is the actiual F*** that is WILD. its now a "Karen" thing to be a GOOD PARENT . ew that just makes me sick. I would rather be a Karen (which you are NOT) than a P**O any effing day. cuz that is exactly what he sounds like. there is ZERO reason a whole man should be taking photos of anyone let alone children ESPECIALLY at the beach. the lack of shame here is alarming. this "woke" ishh is going miuch too far.
The bank lady: she discovered they were belligerent and went back in to inform the cops and change safety procedures. People filming banks or doorways of any business in general are a HUGE RED FLAG in professional security.
There's this pervasive attitude nowadays of treating strangers as though they're not human, that they're just extras in your own social media life. It's symptomatic of narcissism. I'd hate being part of someone else's entertainment on Tiktok or Facebook live etc, and have people potentially make fun of me.
I had a guy film me at the bookstore and he was following me. It really freaked me out. He was also filming other young girls and he tried to follow me to my car. People have made it okay to harass people in public by intentionally filming them. I think its different if someone happens to be in video or picture and they just want to capture a moment but intentionally filming people is different. I don't like when they use real people in the background to get comments purposefully, they probably did multiple takes, they could blur their faces- they don't because it gets comments. This stuff impacts real peoples lives.
Here in the UK it’s suspect for anyone to film the outside of any financial institution or police station. You will be asked to leave, if you don’t comply you will be arrested. It’s also the same thing in Kenya, and after what happened in the shopping centre incident in 2013 you can’t film in these places too.
Any woman in a public space: Hi, I would appreciate it if you didn't-- The internet: GOD-UH, SHUT UP-UH KAREN-UH!!! The term 'Karen' has been weaponized against any woman standing up for herself or others in any context and for any reason, and it is SO annoying.
💯 The underlying glee with which this “Karen shaming” has taken off is rooted in misogyny. Just infer the “this uppity chick dared to say____” preface!?! 🤦♀️ I’ve seen so many examples where I didn’t see anything wrong with what the woman was saying, especially when children or personal privacy/safety were the concern; I’m really relieved that it’s Not Just Me! 😮💨
@@andreav2175 The Karen label gives losers who hate any woman who isn't a meek little mouse license to belittle and berate a woman publicly for daring to have a voice. It's wrong.
@@andreav2175I keep thinking the same thing. It’s so anti feminist and misogynistic. People shout “Karen” to women about anything to quiet them, to shut women up and discount their thoughts and feelings. It’s just the 2024 packaging.
I work as a bartender. Last week I had to tell a customer not to film me when I was making a few espresso martini's. Luckily he stopped but it's not the first time I have had to tell people to stop filming me.
Filming people comimg out of a financial institution from where I'm from, is dangerous! 🚩🚩🚩. People have actually been tracked by robbers and kidnappers after leaving a financial situation. How? Someone was watching or filming them and gave a physical description to sophisticated robbers and kidnappers ahead. Its a major redflag. I applaud that 'Karen' for trying to stick up for people 😢
Uhm absolutely not! That was a credit union, I worked at a bank which is functionally the same in the US and if there are people filming the patrons going in and out that is a security risk. We would call the cops. Safety is the number one priority when you work at a bank for obvious reasons.
In most of Europe it's illegal to film people who are in spaces where privacy is expected. You can only film strangers without permission at events and large gatherings. A lot of influencer don't know this, especially Americans coming to Europe and they get really upset when you tell them that and establish a normal privacy barrier. It's crazy.
People are foaming at the mouth these days to get a viral "Karen" video. Now that word is pure misogyny, basically any woman who stands up for herself is a Karen apparently. It's like the new way to say to women "why do you have to be such a bitch". Filming strangers for clout is scummy.
Almost every ‘Karen’ video I’ve seen is someone with a genuine concern or someone with mental illness. We shouldn’t be filming either of these groups of people
I completely agree with you that we should try not to film strangers. Especially that woman who was worried about her child, I am on her side. Half the time it’s fake anyways. Like how much do you pay for your apartment, can we see it? And the so called stranger of course says Yes sure and lets them into their living quarters. Like stranger danger anyone?
Imagine your husband being followed by some rude boundary-violating creep-chick posting him everywhere on the internet asking strangers for help to find him 😱😵💫🤬😤🤮
Re: the last segment: I'm a woman and a feminist through and through, but it's absolutely true that certain behaviours that we (rightly) stigmatise when it's men doing it to women seem to be treated as okay when it's women doing it to men (sexualising, stalking behaviours like the ones in the video, dismissing their valid issues etc.). It's so not okay. I mean, yes, statistically a lot of these behaviours on the part of men come on the back of centuries of an established power imbalance and bigger physical strength, so it may hit a bit differently - but the specific man in the specific situation where the tables are turned is not a representation of a whole power structure and shouldn't be treated like that. He's just a person and just because he belongs to a gender that's typically considered to be the perpetrators instead of the victims doesn't change the fact that in this specific situation he is, in fact, the victim.
I always duck any visible camera lenses. I also dislike it a lot when relatives try to take family selfies. Even with friends, although I would acquiesce to selfies, I always ask them not to post them.
This is actually something that bothers me. When I’m out I want to be living my life enjoying myself not feeling uncomfortable because someone at the table in the restaurant next to me is filming and pointing a camera my way while I’m eating, bloated and slouching 😂 I don’t need to be completely switched on and “posing” all the time and then there’s the whole safety aspect that you’ve touched on here that makes me really quite uncomfortable.
I have a lovely child and I have actively hidden her from public filmers and glared at them. Also, I guess witness protection is impossible. I'm glad you're bringing awareness to this issue.
When I have children they’ll never be posted on social media. I’m very afraid of them being filmed and put on social media as well. There’s a lot of filming in public that results in bullying 😢
Such an important topic. My brother-in-law, brother and husband all got thirst-filmed at a resort when my family was on holiday. : | I did the only logical thing I could do. Move into position and pretend not to notice the I was standing right in front of the girl’s camera/blocking her shot. I then informed the guys they were being filmed and they had a word with her afterwards-seemed she didn’t like being called out and having them ACTUALLY talk to her. Coward. : D Thanks for continuing to tackle some big issues. I don’t have social media other than RUclips, so I always appreciate hearing what’s going on/trending. : )
"Karen" used to be used for the "i want to talk to the manager" type who would be offended bc your shoe store refuses to refund a tshirt, like ridiculous demands, not just... absolutely everyone who's upset and have genuine concerns...
Wow, this is super creepy. And why is it that we shame women by calling them Karens? If you're a woman with a voice, it seems like people must humiliate her. We, as women, shouldn't stand for this.
22:00 The problem is men do it all the time they just dont post it to their socials and blast themselves. But they do post it to hidden groups and share the videos amongst each other. So I totally get your point but we do need to be realistic about the amount of absolute creeps there are out there. Loved this vid! Agree with everything you say!
I do my absolute best not to film strangers in public! If I get someone close up and I can't edit it out, I blurr them! They didn't consent to being in my video!
I do the same thing and I don't have or use social media. Cut or blur them out completely since some people's bodies and clothes make them identifiable or ripe for ridicule. It takes us nothing to be considerate and respect public privacy. ❤❤
I've caught plenty of people on accident while taking pictures abroad (crowds, etc, also a few street performers). The difference is, they stayed in my camera where I, and my relatives, could enjoy them quietly. I figure the street performers probably don't mind as much, and I'd rather not film regular people, it's just hard to avoid it sometimes in crowded areas.
I had a young girl film me as i was walking thru a parking lot…. It was so obvious she was filming me. Why, no clue! I felt on edge and somewhat violated the rest of the day… film your friends and family but random people is not cool, and should be illegal!
I agree....I had a couple of instances when people took pictures of me when I was in high school walking around in my school uniform and I just figured they were reporters taking a picture for a news article as they had a big flashy camera and were mostly taking a picture of the street in general, I just happened to be very obviously in the shot, but it still left me for weeks with the weird sensation of "What did they want that picture for?"
i feel like the “help me find them” trend started as a modern version of like the missed connections columns/forums. but it was usually smth like “i met this person at __, we talked and had a connection, and i got their first name but nothing else… please share this video so hopefully they see it and reach out” like that version of it is totally fine!! but straight up someone you’ve never spoken to? gross
Sometimes I feel this new generation just do not have shame, literally, or inhibitions. They think this is ok, and if someone calls them out then she is a Karen. It is not okay to film someone and put it on the internet without consent. Worst thing is they do not even understand why.
Like I truly don’t understand how they can’t make laws against people recording you for no reason and posting it all over social media. Like this is a safety concern if they record your kids and post it etc. it makes me sick.
This is so uncomfortable. I used to have a business stand at an air show and I was putting merchandise on the table. I was wearing a dress and some creepy guy was trying to take photos from behind me as I was leaning on the desk to arrange the products. My husband at the time went and yelled at the guy to back off. I caught men with cameras zooming in from a distance a few times at those events 😖
Once a random guy from across the world shared my picture on Facebook and wrote something like ‘@MyName, why 💔’. It looked like I had something with him and left him with a broken heart. I thought it was extremely weird and didn’t understand why he did it, I’ve asked him and demanded that he removes the picture. He just wouldn’t and eventually blocked me so I couldn’t even report him.
I agree with you 100% about the Karen trend, both this specific situation and in general: women who are angry seem to be a joke no matter what they’re angry at. And "findhimforme" is totally nuts; imagine a guy doing that to women! The backlash would be nuts! That said … the guy swimming through the shot is hilarious, and I have to say I would probably posted that on my channel. There is a big difference between a casual accidental funny good naturedly funny moment and a direct shot at an unsuspecting individual.
“Let me pull out my camera phone and film him, hnnrrrrr 🥴” omg, I’m howling. You’re right, Caitlin. It’s all extremely creepy and invasive. I really dislike it. Honestly, I want to “accidentally” trip that tw@t mincing around in front of luxury stores. I mean, I would never actually, obviously, but what a tempting thought…What is the point of his tik toks anyway? Don’t get me started on the “Karen” video. It’s not funny. The way my heart would stop at the thought of my kid in another city without me at that age. I love your videos and am so happy when I see one pop up. Keep it up!
To answer your 1st question about we'd feel if we were in a viral video that we never knew was being filmed: mortified. Absolutely mortified! And Ive been thinking about this a lot lately actually, hopefully its not a foreshadowing! But it makes me want to never be perceived at all anymore and more than ever ensure im never with anyone whos even slightly unhinged (and I have a few people close to me who definitely are), or too loud and/or likely to complain. And thats no way to live! And yet this is real life... And i agree that some of these "Karens" are not really Karens. Social media has made people lose their minds, almost literally.
It is disgraceful it should not be considered normal it's a bloody invasion of peoples personal rights and space especially if it is used to make fun, bully or degrade people. The idea we have to film everything is just weird and is definitely going to lead to further issues as time goes on. The fact that if you speak out about it and get attcked on social media for saying it's wrong shows you in itself that we have problems 🥲 people need to put the bloody phones and camera's away and get on with life. Just my opinion xx
I’m a hobbyist photographer. Some of my favorite photographers are street photographers. They would document what they saw, the people they saw just going about their day, out of a sense of beauty, admiration, and art. These videos are being shot out of a sense of narcissism. As for the people filming others with the intention of the internet introducing them, you are not putting the person being filmed in a position where they cannot reasonably reject you. There is a lot more pressure for that person to just go along with it, whether they want to or not.
Under fundamental freedoms (the First Amendment) in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the First Amendment in the U.S. Constitution, there is "Freedom of the Press," which allows people to film public servants, allows media to film in public, and allows citizens to film other citizens in public places. They are obviously not allowed to film in restricted areas, but they can stand behind a restricted area and film whatever their eyes can see. It has gone WAY too far and should have rules regarding people's right to privacy. However, people will argue that if a citizen is in public, they do not have any rights to privacy, and if you are a public figure or a public servant, then you do not have any right to privacy. I agree with the latter. The term "Karen" is idiotic.
Did you see the one of the woman recording another woman at the gym? The tiktoker was criticising the woman working out for having a BBL body. The woman with the BBL was just doing her own thing, minding her business. The tiktoker went viral. Everyone called her out and told her she was wrong. Hopefully this trend will stop soon.
That was crazy! I hope the personal filming got banned from that gym. She literally wanted the woman with the BBL to be banned because of her body shape
And this is why I would never go to a gym. I would be the one wearing loose clothing and no makeup and ankle socks. I would be filmed and picked apart for sure. I'm happy working out at home.
There is a trend called are you into me and even TikTok is promoting it as a stalker trend. People are filming targeted individuals they “like” from afar often repeatedly over several videos, this is promoted behaviour that will get someone hurt.
I don’t usually comment on RUclips but you came up on my recommended and I’ve watched a few of your videos now and I have to say I’m really enjoying them! The way you come across is very genuine and interested and addressing some good topics, you hold yourself very well and have some humour about you, really happy to of found your channel 😊
I would never film anyone and then post it online without their consent, nor would I take photos of them either. It’s disrespectful, invasive and not to mention rude. And I would hate if someone filmed me without my knowledge and then posted it online for everyone to judge, laugh at or insult.
only 11:40 mins in and I def am taking your side as well. SMH. The man filming the bank???? Sounds like he is about to rob someone. It sounds so fishy. I would call the cops, so fast. I wouldn't let any of my clients do banking till he leaves. Wouldn't trust him for a second! The first guy recording the "2 Karens going at it" ... that was clearly a private conversation they should have been having but I'm not a mom at all and yeah moms and dads and step parents and grand parents would freak over a child's well being and can't control their mouths. So yeah it should have been pulled to the side and in private. But they probably thought they were private enough to have a conversation.. nope. I just try to ignore arguments like that. This guy... nope he films it and then posts it on social media... what?! Why?!
So my feed suddenly started showing me a lot of those videos of people recording in public spaces and building and peoples reactions to asking them to stop. I found it strange at first but then I realised there are several channels that do this as job/hobby in US. They call it auditing their first amendment freedom or something. Basically just to prove they are allowed to do it even if it makes people uncomfortable and call the cops. Had to block any suggested videos or similar channels suggestions because I didn't want to give them any extra views because surprisingly they were getting a lot of views which ofc is a financial incentive to continue doing this kinda stuff.
What’s even more disturbing is that most people don’t find this behavior disturbing or abnormal. People are so conditioned and don’t think for themselves.
This is so inappropriate most especially in the middle east. Don’t do this in an Arab country, you’ll end up in jail if you get caught filming strangers at the background of your photo or video.
As for the karen with kid atuck somewhere: only people who have kids can make some form of judgement. Ill be darned if someone tells me to calm down if my kid is stuck somewhere. Think logically
It's fr sooo creepy 😭 I remember even thinking my classmates were creepy for filming their crush in school even tho they didn't upload it 😭☠️ Like wtf and also if someone filmed me like that and asked the internet to find out who I was I'd be creeped out
I just recently found you Caitlin & iv been BINGEING your vids. you're legit my new favorite creater & I genuinely enjoy your videos and respect & agree with your opinions. You rock girl
Film yourself as much as you want. Leave strangers and others who haven't consented out of it. What the hell is it about his generation that they are so entitled that they think it's okay? I follow Joey Swoll. He calls out those who do this at the gym. Don't film others for likes and content. It's just wrong. Pure and simple. As Joey says "Mind your own business". You need to do better".
I feel the woman in the airport, it is about a 10 year old. My kids went with a plane to denmark from switzerland, to visit my parents, they were 7 and 5 years old and on the flieght home they had 4 hours delay from the airport in copenhagen, where my mother was not aloud to stay with them, but had to wait outside, and they were in a separat room with a lady, who did not speak german, and my kids only speaked german then, i extra told this when i booked the flights, and i was assured that the person taking care of my kids would talk german, i mean they were tiny❤. Everything went well ans my kids were not scared at any moment, but my mother and i were very worried until they landed. Fun fact my Name is Karen 😂😂but i am not a Karen.love from switzerland❤
The issue is that those "influences" thinks it is ok to take over the street, public location to film themselves. in this case, they should blur the faces of strangers. To me, I do not like it at all! It's annoying me so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why the women film men this way?!?!? It is very creepy and you're so right, if it was the other way around, the men should be in trouble. Not ok at all!
When the karen trend came out I knew that would be eventually used to diminish women and women's issues. Nowadays u cannot stand up for yourself at the risk of being called karen.
In the UK it's not illegal to film in public places at this point (although photo/video environment is changing so there may be changes soon). But other people's faces aren't supposed to be bigger than a particular proportion of the shot. And if you're in a place like a store of any kind, security or managers may ask you to stop filming. Also, at events (like fairs or similar community festivals) a lot of organisations put a notice on site that pictures will be taken. If someone doesn't see anything wrong with filming strangers - they should really think about safety first. You don't know other people's stories. I volunteered for a charity in the past, and reasons for safety concerns can be different - someone escaped a dangerous relationship and don't want to be located, some children can be adopted with particular conditions of not appearing in photos accessible by general public, the list goes on... Maybe 20 years ago, if someone took a video or a photo with strangers in the background, nothing would happen. But now we live in a very different world.
So it is fine for girls to post boys to the internet but not actually speak to them? What is happening? Poor kids are never going to date or get married.😢
In the US, there are laws in place to protect people who want to film in public places, streets, institutions, etc. now, if a random person is there at the time of filming, technically that’s not against the law. Will people get offended and get bothered? Yes. You can walk into your local police station and have the right to film what is inside and outside the building. I record content at the gym and sometimes, people are in the background even though I try my best to film in a corner or by myself. Think about google street view. I have seen people in the shot when I am trying to see the address or location. Their face is on the internet because they happened to be there at the time the google camera came. People can look up your home and place of business on google and see the outside of the building, what’s around it, etc. I will not film random people in public on purpose. Like you said, concerts and sight seeing might be appropriate but unfortunately we can’t avoid it.
In the EU there are laws that you're allowed to film in public, if there are many people it's okay... But it's a criminal offence to film a specific person and publish it.
I know I'm late here because I recently discovered this channel, and I am binge watching😂 I record a lot of videos of my dogs for my 1953 or something like followers on tt. I love editing and making music videos. I always make sure that I don't record people. Sometimes people can be in the background but in the distance where their faces can not be seen. If there are people walking by, I wait for them to pass or wait for them to do their thing before recording. I don't film my dogs close to playgrounds for obvious reasons. I don't even want to accidentally record someone's child. The only time I recorded someone was when I got physically attacked by a r@cist white man who thought I was from India. I am not Indian not that there is anything wrong with being from India. I recorded him for police after a few incidents, one involving him kicking my little defenseless Maltese. Aside from him, I would never record anyone. Also, there are times when not a lot of people are around. If content creation is your job. Why not plan better? Go to a shopping district early in the morning. Let people know you are recording, and most of the time, people are being respectful and wait until you are done. Content creating is not going anywhere, so we might as well create some etiquette around it. It's not that serious, and it's not that hard to be a little decent. I would like to add one last thing that is not necessarily related to this topic. I would really love to see a video on this channel regarding certain cringe content like "dancing" to that breakfast making song. The one that the sounds are made by kitchen appliances and the guy chopping off things. My God, it's so cringe worthy. The so-called dance trend with that sound is ridiculous, and people get thousands of likes because of it for doing absolutely nothing.
I don't post footage of myself or my family for safety reasons, so it does worry me if strangers have filmed me or my kids unknowingly because I know I would be torn to shreds I'm sure. I'm fairly certain I was filmed pushing my trolley down the ramp at Aldi. I couldn't be sure and I didn't confront the person because I just didn't understand why someone would do it. If she has posted footage of me somewhere, she's getting a death stare so I'm most likely going to be labelled a "Karen." But she could've included which Aldi I was at too, which then tells randoms my location. I don't post my location on any social media for safety, but a stranger could do it without a second thought. I did comment on a random person's photo of a man sitting by the ocean minding his own business in my local area. He was asking for people who know him to send him this photo. I did remind the poster that as a photographer, if you would like to use a person's image you need signed permission. This is what I was taught by a professional photographer who taught the photography course I studied. I explained that this is the correct way to go about it. The response I got was "cool story." So in an age where everyone is a "photographer," no one cares anymore. I don't care if people say "you can film anyone in public," morally, what is the right thing to do.
Thank you for raising this topic. I would be annoyed if I was photographed or video taped while in public. I would respect other people's privacy and not photograph or videotape them. Here's the hypocrisy, I sometimes watch these types of videos.
I honestly don't see an issue with having strangers in the background of your videos because you shouldn't expect privacy in public but to make someone else the SUBJECT of the video and actively try to hunt them down is predatory.
People even filming their friends and family expecting them to put on and be entertainment. That would be annoying and so invasive. Creators just expect that people will be okay being filmed.
The guys at the financial institution are on the public sidewalk on purpose. I’m betting they’re “auditors”. They want the people who come up and confront them to lose it and call the police so they can school the police on the constitution, but they can’t do that if they are still on the property of the financial institution because most banks (and even other businesses - I see an insurance company back there too) have legitimate grounds to enforce no filming. Either way, it’s morally wrong (in my opinion) to be taking pictures or video of the doors of businesses or people coming in or out of financial institutions.
There should be a law about it, honestly, a stronger law. Atleast to some degree. Cause most of the time, these videos that are taken out of context ruin someones life.
It is a interesting thing, especially with how everyone is being filmed 24/7 in public areas just by camera's around houses, streets but especially around stores. By law you not allowed to film anyone in their own private home, even in their yard, but *in public you have no rights actually.*
I had a photo taken of me by a random stranger. I thought it was hilarious and creepy. In the states you can sue people for filming you without your permission or consent.
If men did this to women it would be considered stalking! Women doing it is super creepy!!! And asking Tik tok to getting others to help in the mass online stalking is so not normal ! No man in his right mind would want to be found by someone like that! What a weird world we live in. Is nothing private?
We shouldn’t have to feel like we’re supposed to be camera ready every time we leave the house. Nor do we want to live in a “1984” world! Unless we could just actually just go back to the year 1984! God do I miss the Twentieth Century! People were just better back then… There’s so many gross examples of the human species these days.
The most strange thing about all of this is d fact that we have a need to have this conversation. How is this even questionable ? Since when. Yes it's a straight up invasion of my privacy. Have we lost all of our manners, respect, common sense and integrity .. 🙄 Ohh .. imagine working in a customer service long shifts every day for a minimal wage, puttin up with been called names and screamed at by all kinds of people. Only to come home to find out that You have gone viral in some kind of made up storyline video with all d flattering angles. All because You got somebody's pizza order wrong and it wasn't even Your fault in the first place.
I agree with your interpretation of the Karen comment. We have no idea what is going on behind this conversation and ultimately that is just his opinion of the lady. I also feel like the term Karen is over used on social media, like you say something that someone else dislikes and you are called a Karen....Really!? I know I am usually very nice to everyone, but when something happens to my kids I go full on mama bear mode and I do not understand reasoning any longer and go into full defence mode! I guess that would make me a Karen in other people's eyes.
i dislike when people film at the gym. i try so hard to not get into their shot and respect their filming. but its come to a point where I don't care anymore. if you want to film come when there's no one around or get your own gym at home. i am no longer being nice and care if I ruin your shot.
@@lolipena8051 I sweat so much and make funny faces lol. Literally try to ignore everything around me and focus on what I’m doing 😅 I don’t even like taking candid photos with friends and family and they have to force me. I hate invasion of privacy with everyone recording whatever they want now at any place and time
The ones that super annoy me are the "everyone is staring while I walk down the street". Of course they are, you're being followed by a cameraman. Or you're wearing an attention getting outfit. I'm seriously considering making cute shirts that say "I do not consent to being filmed"
Ah I can’t like your video Caitlin (it keeps bouncing) but this sounds so interesting. Once I’m finished watching what I am on tv, making a beeline to watch your video
@@CaitlinPawlowskijust boxing (could I be any more stereotypical blokey haha) but I just sent you a DM there about an incredible rude girl on my course and how her behaviour actually backfired. We had a class party yesterday and she wasn’t there an after a few drinks everything came out. People actively said they would warm companies off her…thought it would be interesting as you mentioned the people at the TS concert but yeah would love your thoughts on this…is it a society thing? If you encountered anyone this bad etc
That mom isn’t being rude. She’s being assertive and protective because no one will prioritize her daughter like she will. I wish it was considered more creepy to film strangers. Because. It’s. Creepy.
Do you think it’s ok to film strangers for content?
Absolutely not. If it is for their content in a direct way then they need my consent but I am in a shot at a concert or aiemthing what can I do
I have escaped a stalker, I don't want him to know where I live, if some stupid narcissist films me and he would be on tiktok or it would go viral to another platform, I will have a problem again. it's not that hard to just blurr faces in the background.
No! Just NO! This is not cool or acceptable in any way.
Ugh.
It’s so weird that someone can be called a Karen for being alarmed that her 10 year old was stranded because of the airline
Absolutely not
She's pr0bably a really nice person and a loving mom. I would probably be as upset for my flesh and blood 😢@garycheesman6821
These people are so entitled to assume that others want to be plastered all over the internet for thousands or even millions of people to stare at and comment on
I have often thought about that too from a safety standpoint it’s so awful x
My Personal experience. An irritated tourist called me "Karen" because I wouldn't let him take a picture of my toddler playing on the beach in her bathing suit. If I'm "Karen" based on that, so be it then...
Omg people are insane!
That's literally insane ! Creepy vibes
Creeper. You're not being a Karen by saying, "no".
that's definitely a pedo.
what is the actiual F*** that is WILD. its now a "Karen" thing to be a GOOD PARENT . ew that just makes me sick.
I find this extremely invasive and disturbing, and I absolutely despise it when people say it’s not illegal so it’s fine.
No one should film you coming out of a financial institution. I would think they are targetting someone for a roberry and thats scary
Posting video of perfect strangers online so you can make fun of them is not ok , it's a form of online bullying .
Honestly I‘m rlly glad that here in germany we have a right to our own picture, so ppl arent actually allowed to film you and post it on the internet.
Any woman in a public space: Hi, I would appreciate it if you didn't--
The internet: GOD-UH, SHUT UP-UH KAREN-UH!!!
It's wrong.
Yep
@@andreav2175I keep thinking the same thing. It’s so anti feminist and misogynistic. People shout “Karen” to women about anything to quiet them, to shut women up and discount their thoughts and feelings. It’s just the 2024 packaging.
I work as a bartender. Last week I had to tell a customer not to film me when I was making a few espresso martini's. Luckily he stopped but it's not the first time I have had to tell people to stop filming me.
Respect for others is not longer a thing 😢
😢 I know. It's just really pathetic and sad.
It's crazy.
They can be sued gladly... it's a crime in EU.
People are foaming at the mouth these days to get a viral "Karen" video. Now that word is pure misogyny, basically any woman who stands up for herself is a Karen apparently. It's like the new way to say to women "why do you have to be such a bitch". Filming strangers for clout is scummy.
Yes Thankyou 🙌 say it louder for the people in the back
Almost every ‘Karen’ video I’ve seen is someone with a genuine concern or someone with mental illness.
I dont get why they need help finding the guy, when he's like 10-20m away... you found him yourself... go say hello
👏
Imagine your husband being followed by some rude boundary-violating creep-chick posting him everywhere on the internet asking strangers for help to find him 😱😵💫🤬😤🤮
That's exactly what I thought!
When I’m out I want to be living my life enjoying myself not feeling uncomfortable because someone at the table in the restaurant next to me is filming and pointing a camera my way while I’m eating, bloated and slouching 😂
I don’t need to be completely switched on and “posing” all the time and then there’s the whole safety aspect that you’ve touched on here that makes me really quite uncomfortable.
It's creepy. It seems to appeal to the type of people who'd be the mean school bully, the shallow mean girl, but with a bigger platform.
Coward. : D
Thanks for continuing to tackle some big issues. I don’t have social media other than RUclips, so I always appreciate hearing what’s going on/trending. : )
Thankyou for sharing this!
Agreed!
The concept of the ‘find this guy’ would be canned quickly if there was a role reversal! That makes it creepy.
That’s so creepy!
I agree....I had a couple of instances when people took pictures of me when I was in high school walking around in my school uniform and I just figured they were reporters taking a picture for a news article as they had a big flashy camera and were mostly taking a picture of the street in general, I just happened to be very obviously in the shot, but it still left me for weeks with the weird sensation of "What did they want that picture for?"
i feel like the “help me find them” trend started as a modern version of like the missed connections columns/forums. but it was usually smth like “i met this person at __, we talked and had a connection, and i got their first name but nothing else… please share this video so hopefully they see it and reach out”
like that version of it is totally fine!! but straight up someone you’ve never spoken to? gross
Sometimes I feel this new generation just do not have shame, literally, or inhibitions. They think this is ok, and if someone calls them out then she is a Karen. It is not okay to film someone and put it on the internet without consent. Worst thing is they do not even understand why.
Its really not good. Imagine if you were in Witness protection.
Like I truly don’t understand how they can’t make laws against people recording you for no reason and posting it all over social media. Like this is a safety concern if they record your kids and post it etc. it makes me sick.
There are... In Europe it's a criminal offence... and already some Americans had to deal with that gladly
Keep it up!
😂 I feel the same way!
Thanks for watching x
Omg no I didn’t see that 😮
And this is why I would never go to a gym.
Unhinged behavior, it really is!😱
only 11:40 mins in and I def am taking your side as well.
It's a criminal offence in Europe... So for all others travelling here: don't do it, you'll get sued by the EU
Same in EU....gladly
Any stranger filming/posting me without my permission will get their phone shoved under an oncoming truck.
As for the karen with kid atuck somewhere: only people who have kids can make some form of judgement. Ill be darned if someone tells me to calm down if my kid is stuck somewhere. Think logically
I have gained weight in the last few months. I definitely will not like to be filmed.
No matter what weight I am I would be mortified if I found myself in a viral video without my consent
Thanks for watching 😘
The video of the man at the 21:00 is for sure his idea to put that on tik tok 😂😂 no one is doing that show at the beach 😂😂
It's fr sooo creepy 😭 I remember even thinking my classmates were creepy for filming their crush in school even tho they didn't upload it 😭☠️
Like wtf and also if someone filmed me like that and asked the internet to find out who I was I'd be creeped out
I just recently found you Caitlin & iv been BINGEING your vids. you're legit my new favorite creater & I genuinely enjoy your videos and respect & agree with your opinions.
Dude in the green boots looks insane.
Not ok at all!
if you can film a dude, you can walk up to him and use your words
Find him gives me sersious stalker vibes. It horrifies me that someone could search for person that way and it's really creepy As HELL!
I agree with everything you said in this video.
The cringiest one for me is people who film at the gym.
Valid points ❤
I would not be ok if someone put me in their random video when I'm out and about.
Another great video!!! I really hope more people watch this video and learn some common sense.
I hate TikTok so much!!! I feel anxious just going outside because of stuff like this.
This is exactly why I won’t get a gym membership. All the videos of people videoing strangers and making fun of them. No thanks.
I agree!
It depends on the states as there are laws in place for this reason.
If men did this to women it would be considered stalking! Women doing it is super creepy!!! And asking Tik tok to getting others to help in the mass online stalking is so not normal ! No man in his right mind would want to be found by someone like that! What a weird world we live in. Is nothing private?
If I ended up in someone’s video I would sue.
We shouldn’t have to feel like we’re supposed to be camera ready every time we leave the house.
Nor do we want to live in a “1984” world! Unless we could just actually just go back to the year 1984! God do I miss the Twentieth Century! People were just better back then…
There’s so many gross examples of the human species these days.
The most strange thing about all of this is d fact that we have a need to have this conversation.
How is this even questionable ? Since when.
Yes it's a straight up invasion of my privacy.
Have we lost all of our manners, respect, common sense and integrity .. 🙄
Ohh .. imagine working in a customer service long shifts every day for a minimal wage, puttin up with been called names and screamed at by all kinds of people.
Only to come home to find out that You have gone viral in some kind of made up storyline video with all d flattering angles.
All because You got somebody's pizza order wrong and it wasn't even Your fault in the first place.
I was hit on by a few woman while working in a Pharmacy. I got tired of it and married and had two kids with the most beautiful one. 😄
Extremely wrong and disrespectful
I’m horrified of being filmed at the gym
@@artbygilik same its embarrassing and also idk if they will use the footage to make fun of me.
@@lolipena8051 I sweat so much and make funny faces lol. Literally try to ignore everything around me and focus on what I’m doing 😅 I don’t even like taking candid photos with friends and family and they have to force me. I hate invasion of privacy with everyone recording whatever they want now at any place and time
I think the find him trend is a little bit dangerous.
Hope you are enjoying what you’re watching on tv ❤
Because. It’s. Creepy.
