@@Moonbunny55 love you gen x'ers, wholeheartedly and genuinely from a millenial ❤ if we didn't have your media and influence we wouldn't have anything. You guys are so unsung, but we see you
I was going to say the same thing. I work at a Uni with many Gen Zers around and they are generally very complimentary to all kinds of people’s style, including millennials!
exactly, it’s people who live for the internet who apply the loud minorities they see online to the average person irl, and this goes for all people regardless of generation. as an older gen z i have no beef with anyone older than me, in fact i personally believe it’s very healthy to have friends of many ages and walks of life. its very good for personal growth.
Generally that's true but unfortunately i have met a handful of young people who just cant seem to disconnect social media from real life and they just say the most off-hand disrespectful things lol.
I think every generation in their late teens to 20s mocks the one before and the one after. Gen Z and Millennials are the first ones who have the ability to make it globally visible.
Exactly. This is going to be Gen alpha and Gen Z in a few years. It’s human nature to grow up and not fully relate to what young people think is cool. Rinse and repeat.
I must say, as a 38 year old woman, I don’t give a flying fuck about following trends! I wear what I want and style my hair how I want, as everyone should! TikTok is cancer
This is a chronically online thing. In the real world, anyone who isn't already a homeowner is in the shit together, regardless of age. Material conditions are the only divider that actually matters
I'm a very early Gen Z. I did not grow up online, I grew up with everything millenials did. My husband is 9 years older than me and I knew about everything he grew up with (don't worry, we met when I was 22 and I was out of the Navy at that time). My parents refused to give me free reign online. I relate more with millenials than Gen Z. I can't say a lot of the slang Gen Z says. It just feels odd to me.
I think it's awful when anyone bullies someone for their appearances relative to aging, gen z or millennial. That's part of the beef that I find really icky and we shouldn't make anyone feel bad about themselves.
Gen Z is falling for the typical generational fights, and Millenials are falling for the reaction they give to feed that division. It's old, it's stupid, both generations have more in common than Gen X or Boomers.
Yes and honestly its horrible😂 social media now makes me feel old and i do. not. like. it!😂 I just heard a few gen alphas (my sister and her friends) talk about the fact that they didnt know that harry styles used to be in a boy band and i almost burst into tears hahahahhahaahha😂😂😂😂 so: I get millenials now and i’m happy that we can now ban together against Gen Alpha 😜
I didn’t know this was a thing until now. I’m keeping my skinny jeans. I’m a millennial with an hour glass shape, longer torso and shorter legs at 5’3. Loose pants, flared pants, low rise all made me look heavier and dragged on the floor. They got tattered and dirty or were high waters. My crack was always out. None of it was flattering or comfortable. Skinny pants have always been a staple and will always be a staple. Hello 1950s and cigarette pants. It’s not about aging for me. I was old enough for the early 90s fashion and for that same fashion to come around like 5-10 years ago. It’s about having clothing that flattering, comfortable, and that I feel good and confident in.
As a Gen Z (2000) I grew up with pretty much the same childhood as a lot of millennials. And everyone I know who is my age or younger is working harder than ever and still unable to afford somewhere to live and is stressed about money. I think social media amplifies everything when actually the divide is not that clear and there’s a lot of overlap that doesn’t get spoken about. I love the whole zillennial idea
I'm a millennial. And I don't get it. Why would I even want to dress like my 13yr daughter? Gen Zers are wearing what we were wearing at their age. So what's the deal? I love fashion. I wear what I want to wear, plus a trendy piece or two to give a twist to my wardrobe.
People just need to get rid of these trend cycles altogether, it's trash. The whole fitted, flared, skinny, baggy, low rise, high rise debates don't matter, because at the end of the day we all have different body types and what looks good or bad on one person will look completely different on another. Wear what's best suited to you, I don't know why that's such a tough concept to grasp.
Totally agree. Some trends don't flatter my shape and I'm not going to try to smoosh myself into them just so that I can be "in." Finding your own style in sampling from trends that actually suit you or interest you is what we should probably all be doing, rather than judging people to be "in" or "out."
I'm just barely a millennial, established in 1985. As a senior millennial, I feel like these generational "beefs" have always been a thing as long as their are comedians. I remember when my "boomer" parents would make fun on generation while were in our teens and trash us how we are lazy, not has hard working as their generation, get upset because what they thought was good, we just saw it as old people stuff. Wait till more of Gen Z hits their late 30s/early 40s and they'll have "beefs" with Gen Alpha...and then Gen Alpha will beef with whatever the next odd generation slang name is adopted. I think the little jokes are funny, but the problem is some people in these generations forget they are jokes and take it like it's something serious.
There's a word to describe this concept. Juvenoia, the belief today's younger generations are poorer behaved than previous ones. There are ancient Greek texts from thousands of years ago, written to complain that the kids of their time were lazy, ill mannered, expected convience or rewards for nothing, and were too self obsessed. Older generations have been complaining about the same things in younger generations for literally thousands of years 😆
I'm a very late Gen X (est. September 1978) and I have no issue with what people do, but OMG I FEEL OLD. Some Gen Z people could be my CHILDREN! And I don't even HAVE children except for my cat son! 😂
I'm from GenZ, near the younger middle end, and I honestly just think that we're all in a state of constant crisis. Furthermore, I would subdivide GenZ into pre - and - post cellphone kids because I do think that had a severe effect on our mentality.
I will never go back to the discomfort of having to constantly worry about my butt being out and about everytime I sit down because my pants are so low. That's the number one reason I will never go lower than mid-rise.
Me, too! I hate having to pull down my shirts or pull up my pants and worry about having my butt out. No thank you! It's high rise for me or in some cases mid-rise but never LOW!
My experience in working with some of gen z has been more than enough to tell me that they are, in fact, a bit lazy. Several of my younger colleagues have abused benefits like mental health days and PTO because "working sucks". This has always existed to extent, it just seems culturally acceptable now.
Yess, and it really sucks that people abuse these because it gives employers a reason to reduce the mental health days they offer just because a few are using them as "vacation" days.
I absolutely love watching your videos. But I’m kind of glad I’m a millennial (on the gen z line) that does not care about fashion trends, is not interested in plastic surgery, or makeup at all, I rarely purchase new clothes, and do not have Facebook, instagram, twitter, TikTok etc. I learn what’s happening in the social media world from your videos 😅 and I find it FASCINATING keep it up!
I learned about a “Mental Health day” from…a boomer 🤭😂🤣💀 I think there are IRL Gen Z and Millennials and then the chronically online ppl…who have gone insane 😳
As millennial I think a lot of the defensiveness from our side is because we felt attacked by boomers for not meeting their expectations and now we're being attacked from Gen Z because we aren't meeting theirs. We're not quite analog enough for Boomers but not digital enough for Zoomers.
Why , oh why are Millennials debating fashion with the generation that wears socks with Birkenstocks / Crocs??? Like the Boomers did. And yes sorry, you’re old now just own it. It’s ok.
Im a ‘91 millennial and have 5 gen z siblings and they are the sweetest and most accepting people I have ever met. I love them and there was no generational beef. Just a touch of sibling rivalry. My gen z coworkers are so fun and give such kind compliments. I really think the beef is for the chronically online folks. I don’t see this beef anywhere else but the internet.
I’m Gen X and see GenZ like that as well. Of course I love mils too. I have one of each and find them beautiful and unique and they totally get along. This ‘beef’ crap is made up and propagated by channels like these.
I'm 40, with 2 kids and I have noticed with the younger generation though, they don't take constructive criticism well and get very defensive and rude. I will always offer help to someone where it may be needed, that's just who I am. If I have experience with something, I like to share that with someone who may need it. But I've found I've been verbally attacked when I make a suggestion or point something out to a Gen Z person. I'm talking in person and online, although I try to stay away from commenting online because everyone's on the attack. I actually walk away scratching my head, so confused by the interaction. I always approach a situation in a friendly manner, so I have to assume Gen Z doesn't want to be offered any advice 🤷♀️. I'm much more comfortable talking to people older than me.
I’m an elder millennial working in hospitality. My younger Gen Z co-workers are so much nicer than my peers were at that age. They are way more conscious and aware of mental health - they’re more empathetic and sensitive and I absolutely love working with them. While they may be a bit lazier, they’re also self-aware and they work on it! They’re always trying to be better versions of themselves. My peers at their age were arrogant and nasty towards each other. Also, they’re (Gen Z) so supportive of me when I try new trends or new hair colors/styles, whereas older peers would just mock and make fun of me back in the day. Girls bullying girls was the norm in the 90’s, now it seems they band together and try to support each other. They’re way less hateful and spiteful than millennials, yeah I said that with my chest 😉
I do notice the difference at my job. This week I decided to see how it plays out when I don't respond to anything work related outside my work time. (They do expect an answer).. they also don't reply outside their work days, I don't expect an answer right away, but I do expect them to do their job at their working days (they don't) I have to remind them time and time again while it is not my job to do so 😅 it just seems lazy to me. So many excuses..
Gen X here, you all look the same to me. I literally had a Gen Z at work tell me I need to calm it down with my work ethic because it makes her feel bad about herself. From what I observe both generations LOVE oversharing and don't value their own privacy.
You could say the same for the Gen xers on the platform too. I think regardless of the generation oversharing individuals are everywhere I knew a woman once who is a Gen X who granted wasn’t online but I knew way too much about her personal life for my liking 😂
@@CaitlinPawlowski Yes, there's definitely some Gen Xers out there thirsty for attention. I think it's more ubiquitous with the younger generations because it's what you/they have grown up with and it's more normalized. I agree the level of oversharing with all generations is off the charts. I was discussing with a friend the other that one of the worst things that social media has done is to destroy the 'social contract' of politeness and what is and isn't acceptable behavior. People take the internet wild west anything goes attitude into their everyday lives and it's confronting and offensive in a lot of cases.
@@teoleno4019 You're not completely wrong here. The obsession with plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures at such a young age is really disturbing. A lot of them do look like forty year olds because of what they've done to their faces. It's sad. Destroying all their days of actually looking naturally young and fresh to end up looking like a middle-aged, divorcee desperate to look young again. Fillers are forever. Even when dissolved they never fully go away.
I’m Gen x and I remember when Millennials told us not to say “cool”! I have to say, I was offended at the time but now I see how all fashion comes around and I think it’s funny how the time we’re born in really informs how we see the world. But then again, I’m old now 😂
I think most of this beef is online, because in the real world are people really going back and forth like this? I’m 37…an 80s baby and a 90s kid….at this point I have four kids of my own and I’m too damn old to care lol. I’m not fake fighting with 20 somethings and teens I don’t know. 😅 In real life I see my 15 year old daughter and teen cousin enjoying stuff from the 90s and early 2000s, the same things I did. As far as fashion or really anything, people should worry about what they like and that’s it.
I'm a tattoo artist and I work with people as old as 60 and as young as 19. I promise this generation war nonsense is meaningless as long as you have an actual identity outside of being "Gen XYZ". Yeah we're all shit talkers constantly joking with each other, but we have more in common with each other than we do with the depiction of normality online. Young or old, we're all just artists trying to grow on our journey.
Every generation wants to do the opposite of the generation before. So I’m Gen X and we wore bootcut and flared pants. Millennials decided they didn’t want to dress like their mom and dad and skinny jeans came into fashion. Now gen Z wants to do something different from millennials and now bootcut and flared pants are back (thank god) ! And the cycle continues……
Honestly, I cannot deal with such BS. If anyone needs a reminder: You can wear whatever you want. You shouldn't care what anyone else thinks if you feel good about your look/style. TikTok is the probblem.
I’m Gen X, the fact that there are three generations after me already and really only one and a half in front makes me very aware of my mortality now and it scares me that my life is speeding by faster and faster all the time. Each generation discovers the same truth as they age that on the whole the older you get the less relevant you become. I try to have respect for where everyone else is on their journey through life as we’re all travelling to the same destination in the end (yeah, I know, what a bummer right?)
I am so curious if anyone else has had this theory regarding why millennials apparently age better but here it is: In my opinion after having children the parents (especially one giving birth) look significantly older after each child. For the older generation it was more usual to have kids in the early 20s so by the time they were 30 they looked much older. Millennials have kind of stopped having kids this early and so by the time they are 30 look much younger. Idk if it makes sense but I am kind of sold on that as one of the main reasons
It is definitely one of the top 10 reasons why. My grandmother was a grandmother at 38. I was a child when I was 38😂😂 Gen Z is aging faster because they hardly get outside. I am outside almost all the time because I really don't have a choice as a result of living with 4 super active rescue dogs. I hardly see any young people out doors. Seasons are beautiful where we live, but the youngsters are not out there to enjoy it. From blossom season to colors of fall to playing in snow, they miss it all. I see kids with their middle-aged parents. I see elderly people. I hardly ever see Gen Z.
For the workplace - my experience with gen z is they are either all in or all out. If they’re not interested, they will quit with no notice. But the ones who are all in are amazing. As for the beef, I couldn’t care less LOL side parts and skinny jeans are with me for the long haul. And emojis. But also felt pain when that comment described :) as a remnant of a better time…like I still use written out emojis…but that made me feel like an Egyptian using hieroglyphics or something LOL
I super love it when people who don't have kids say what they're going to do with their kids it's hilarious bro touch grass hang out with actual kids and see if you don't occasionally want to hand them a screen just to get like 5 minutes to cook dinner or something. Stop with the generational divides yes I'm an elder millennial Yes I am in my 40s now Sweet it means I'm not dead I too have crippling anxiety about climate change I will never wear low rise jeans still have my yoga pants from the 2000s and would love to get a cup of coffee with Gen z people and just chit chat about how eft our world is Love you guys keep your boundaries You're fabulous.
On the aging thing 2 things 1. Sun screen, the whole ozone hole situation and smoking became very uncool in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, probably go along way
Gen X here. I held off on getting skinny jeans until there was no choice. I abandoned them because I realized that my legs looked ridiculously skinnier than my body. It took a long time to come to that realization. I think I've already done baggy jeans at least once on this trip through fashion time. Probably a skip. Never pluck your eyebrows. My boomer sister has to draw hers on everyday. 😂
I'm still in my boot cuts. I have short legs so skinnies were never going to not make me look way out of proportion. And I kept my brows too, fashions are almost always too extreme to suit most people.
@@r.brooks5287 5' here. I know the feeling. Mr. Crabs from SpongeBob would have been a good description for my legs vs body situation. I have to take back baggy pants. They actually balance things a bit. My Gen Z kid made me try them. She's good like that. My thoughts on baggy pants were related to Hammer Time and parachute pants.
This is so uninteresting. Yoga pants... called that on less than a handful of countries, if that. Anywhere else in the world, they would be called an equivalent of "flared legging". So this isn't generational at all. The beef is only an online trend that only some people from a couple of countries are following. Yawn.
jeebus.. these do’s and dont’s is just exhausting! I mean, what’s left to wear and style after all this?? lol. It sounds like a generation’s just projecting.
I will say that fashion trends and hair parts don't always fit with every body type or face shape. So, just wear what you love and what feels good on you! ❤
I am a millennial and agree with not skipping breaks and working through lunch. I’m a better employee when I take the time to step out for a breather and come back to work a bit refreshed. I don’t think one should be made to feel bad about setting those boundaries.
It's a tale as old as time. Every generation has had the same beef since forever, but social media/ technology, etc, have given it reach everywhere. The last girl nailed the 90s vibe. Female gen x Au
I think it goes from observing and copying -> differentiating themselves and beefing -> taking out a popcorn bucket and seeing the next generation repeating the same cycle
And also...who cares if you keep up with the trends if you walk into a room and you are perfect from top to bottom? Your style is decided by your personality, you can dress however you want if you can look at yourself and be proud of who you are.
3:52 has anyone ever *tried* to be yoga in stretch pants that flare?? Dude. They just flip up on you and go everywhere, you are constantly readjusting. So I would never want to call them yoga pants regardless.
As a millennial working in Japan , I understand the work ethic talk so much im laughing and crying at the same time. I’m 29 and people my age and up are all about giving back to the company , working hard because we think it’ll all be paid off in the end (never does) and doing overtime even if you don’t get paid because we think we’re doing service to the company. And the genzs who come in 5mins before work and leave at 5pm on the dot annoys me so much yet at the same time I’m extremely jealous they have the guts to do it ;”work only for the money”
Older millennial here! I had NO idea my generation was supposed to have a beef. Honestly, I really don’t care… wear/do what you like and that’s it. On a side note, criticizing anyone about their shape/age/looks is the real concern here. Every single generation is struggling with mental health nowadays… isn’t it perhaps the time to start a trend of acceptance?!
I was born in the summer of 96’ and I’m sitting right on the line of these two generations, but I love Gen-Z and think they’re savage, especially when it comes to decisions they make in the workplace 😂 I feel like Gen Alpha is gonna be an absolute shit show though and we’ll all end up reconciling afterwards bc of that lmao
Caitlin your videos are always always helpful to me in my life and I am always always waiting for your new videos🥹🥹♥️♥️♥️ sending you lots of love from my side
With the appearance thing as someone who is 32, and looks 32, if you look older than me but are 10 years younger than me, then you've fcked up your face somewhere. Looking 40 isn't bad, however you should look 40 AT 40. You should look 25 at 25, and while stress and genetic do play a role in how fast our skin ages, 9/10 it's because you filled your face.
I think this generation designation stuff is BS. I was a baby-toddler in the 60s and supposedly it makes me a boomer?! 🙄 Nope. Sorry, I’m a product of my grandparents and parents who believed in learning and working hard, having values and morals, and not shoving your opinions down others throats. My husband is the same as me. My daughter who is in her late 30s also got passed all those good things such as I learned. I don’t want to rant about it. I just find the whole generational designation thing totally stupid.
I was manager to a bunch of zoomers and I miss them every day. Incredibly funny, whip smart and very socially aware. As a millenial all I see is young people going through what we did but make it exponential. Let's all go easy on each other. Some of the observations about millenials made me laugh out loud, because I know those people. Poking fun all in good fun is just that: fun.
I guess I just don't care about keeping up with trends, but...I'm an older millennial, and have no beef with anyone. I wear what I want: comfy over fashion for me, and just try to love everyone.
I'm a millennial but I'm in a union, so I am taking ALL my breaks, logging off exactly at 4:30pm (4:27pm if we're being honest), and when I'm on vacation my office doesn't exist. Love being in a union!
When I was younger Gen x was so nice to me. Just in general we had a great time relating about trends that came back or didn’t I just liked them, things we all went through ect. So I was nice to my younger peers. At some point I start hearing “Gen Z” and started getting dirty looks for things like skinny jeans (I’m athletic everything looks skinny, even relaxed fit!) and rude comments on my hair ect. I don’t get it.
I'm a 1997 baby I consider myself more a millennial. I'm South African and we always got trends late here and I definitely knew them as yoga pants lol! My cousin is born in 2008 and she always goes on that skinny jeans are out of fashion, calls my secret socks "mom socks" and also tells me to untuck my tops! In university my friend told me to start wearing a middle path because I'd look better 😂
I'm a gen z on the cusp. I don't understand the beef and being the younger sibling of a millennial, I get along with and relate to my millennial friends more than my friends my age who are the eldest sibling. I grew up with my brother's video games and toys and was behind in video game generations so I could never relate to people my age growing up. My parents raised me in a similar way to my brother as well, except I'm a girl and had tighter social media redirections, likely because I got around all of their attempts at parental controls on my computer (i.e. my brother had myspace and MSN at a younger age than I had Facebook and the other social media people my age used and there was an open door policy and my PC was on the opposite wall to my door due to internet being faster than when my brother was growing up and social media getting big). One thing I do agree with though, is a lot of my generation looks old. There are so many gen z people with way too much filler and botox. The filler especially makes a lot of us look old. Botox when done right, doesn't really age us though, one of my old colleagues gets it done for chronic migraines, other millennial friend gets it done for jaw clenching and one of my childhood friends just started getting a small amount for forehead wrinkles and they look my age or even younger than me. I haven't had any cosmetic procedures unless you count stuff like laser hair removal and eyebrow waxing, and I look like I'm in my early 20s. I will say, stress is the thing that's aged me the most. Went through a major life changing event AND the most stressful job mentally and physically that I've ever had and in just a few months, I went from looking like a teenager to looking my age (23 at the time). When I wear makeup, most of the time it makes me look older as well.
As a millennial (only just, born in '96) I work with a lot of gen Z. I notice that a lot of them work part time by choice. They are pretty much all single and childfree, most living with their parents. They say they want a good work-life balance but when I ask them how they ever plan om buying a house they have not thought that through. When I just got put of college I worked as hard as I could to save a lot of money. I bought a house young and payed off as much as I could, now I am living very comfortably and am able to work part time once I have my baby... I am curious to see how the next generation is going to do this.
I wanted to wait until 35 to start using botox. I held out til 31 (33 now). I still have never gotten fillers, and I won't until I'm at least 45. This shit is expensive. And it's not meant for young skin.
I love millennial style and I’m sticking with it. I don’t feel good about myself wearing super baggy, super low-waisted styles (remember the low waist jeans with the thong sticking out 😅😅😅). I’m ok with being uncool at this point in my life :)
As a millennial with Gen z siblings (this is just my experience), they criticize my outfit choice. And I'm not upset about it. My clothing choice is what looks nice and comfortable. I don't have a style I'm into...
So this is a topic I find interesting as someone who doesn’t feel that I fit into either category. I was born in ‘97 and I spent all four years of high school living in the Middle East. I grew up with a home phone. We had a “family” computer. My mom is a teacher and loves reading, so I didn’t get unlimited internet access until I bought my own iPod touch the summer before 9th grade. And even then, my dad would turn off the router every night. I didn’t have a phone until I was 14 and it was a brick that you had to load minutes onto when you ran out. My freshman year of college, I thought skater skirts and Marvel tees was a cute look and I HATED when my socks showed. But now I have a middle part, I hate skinny jeans, and if my socks aren’t showing, I think I look weird. I think Disney is kind of overrated and Harry Potter is okay if you like it, but it’s deeefinitely not the peak of fantasy and it’s certainly not the best writing. I love ankle boots and too many necklaces. Idk man the point is just do what makes you happy; fuck what generation you’re from. 😂
i think the low rise jeans thing is interesting because a lot of millennials equate them with HAVING to be super skinny to be able to wear them but Gen Z doesn’t really care about the whole having to be a certain weight to wear low rise jeans. big girls rock low rise jeans all the time and no one is really batting an eye or saying “oh you can’t wear that” like they used to back in the day . like everyone is able to confidently wear them despite their weight and look good . idk that’s just what i’m seeing as a Gen Z
That last girl was nasty. I take notes from the Gen Z in Corporate America , and honestly don't want to wear skinny jeans. I have Gen Z friends. We make lighthearted fun of each other, but have more things in common at the end.
Just going through some of your comments Lol 😂 and I’m probably the only Boomer here that I see, I’m just sitting back and watching it all unfold between the generations, many of them blame it on the Boomers But to be totally honest, I much preferred growing up in the 60’s when there wasn’t any social media or internet, no mobile phones, no jealousy or so call Trends that you felt like you had to follow, I got a love of fashion and makeup from magazines Lol 😂, You Know, The Ones You Would Actually Purchase And Cut Out Your Favourite Singer or Band and even your favourite Actress who had great fashion sense, Growing Up In The 60’s Was The Best Generation, just my humble opinion from someone who’s Been There Done That, and it’s all coming back as in the Fashion Industry 😂😂❤❤. Cheers from Australia 💃🏻🕺🏻
Millennial mentor of Gen z middle & high schoolers and some young adults… ummm I think they’re kids, but I think they’re very rude in person and online because online there was never a lot of oversight… so they practice toxic positivity and shading/roasting people on a regular basis. Everything is cringe, a lot of judgement, obsessed with trends/fashion/“skinny legend” is something they call themselves.. I think as a millennial we are self obsessed.. the cure to the beef and to end the self obsession, everyone needs to get offline?
Nah, I'm a 30 y/o sophomore in college and I'm continually in awe of Gen z. Like I'm in a hybrid chem class (half online, half in person. Trust me my ancient ass would not have done this if I'd have known ahead of time. It wasn't listed as one) and the adult kids are KILLING it in that class. Which like even though I'm on the struggle bus, I love to see it. My only "wtf" kinda thing is the people who rebranded day dreaming as "reality shifting". Knee capping is not off the table.
I’m a millennial. I have a teenage daughter. She makes fun of me for my skinny jeans and middle part. I make fun of her for a lot of other things. We still love each other and I’m actually trying to teach her to find her style and run with it and to stop following “trends” When it comes to work, giiirl I set boundaries!!!! I take leave, I don’t bring my work computer home, and if I need it, I take my mental health days!!! 😒 😂
It pains me slightly to say this as a millennial but I truly believe we are just boomers reincarnated. I also say that with some pride. These two generations thrive in tension, I think, and that's because we grew up in such revolutionary times. Our history is filled with moments of fight, struggle, turn over and it informs who we are even if we are just talking about jeans, we will bring tension to the conversation. GEN Z on the other hand much like their grandparents, Gen X grew up after the apocalypse, an era of experimentation and rebuilding. There is a fearless almost carelessness about these generations that allows them to say "screw it" give me the lowcut Jean. Something boomers and millennial, I assume find annoying because we feel their freedom was at our expense and maybe also because we envy that they are the generations living in a freedom we believe we labored for. Interested to hear what others thing...thank you for coming to my Ted talk 😂
Oh it's funny. Trends trends trends!! I'm a millennial(apparently !😅) I wear what looks good on me (I hope), things I like, what's comfortable and what the weather dictates. I shall live in my boots, very happily, forevverrrr 😁 and I will wear my low riders for as long as I can get away with (belly's never actually on show with those. But the skinny-er fit works well with longer, floatier tops, inside boots!!) Where's the general 'sense' gone? 😂
I’m a millennial, my first daughter is gen-z, she definitely is cringed by me, but she sometimes borrows my clothes. I also take some of her donation clothes because she switches trends so often, and yes she basically wears similar stuff that I saw when I was going to high school. she and I also share a love for twilight (we kinda joke about ourselves liking it) we also get mistaken for sisters which I love and she probably hates 😂 My two younger gen alpha daughters are much more wild and they are a whole new challenge of parenting but they are keeping me young. my daughters are 16, 5 and 1.
And to think that now Gen X and Gen Z are currently beefing online? 😂 the internet is a funny place
Thanks for watching!
Gen X has beef with now one. Why should we? 😄
I'm Gen X and I had no idea I was beefing with anyone
I’m GEN X and couldn’t care less about beefing w/ someone that doesn’t understand life without the internet.
I’m Gen X and want to remind everyone that the internet is full of made up stories including ‘beefing’ with a generation that 30 years younger.
@@Moonbunny55 love you gen x'ers, wholeheartedly and genuinely from a millenial ❤ if we didn't have your media and influence we wouldn't have anything. You guys are so unsung, but we see you
It’s weird because i only notice divide in the generations online. In real life it’s literally not a thing
I agree
I was going to say the same thing. I work at a Uni with many Gen Zers around and they are generally very complimentary to all kinds of people’s style, including millennials!
exactly, it’s people who live for the internet who apply the loud minorities they see online to the average person irl, and this goes for all people regardless of generation. as an older gen z i have no beef with anyone older than me, in fact i personally believe it’s very healthy to have friends of many ages and walks of life. its very good for personal growth.
Def a symptom of being terminally online.
Very true!
Gen Z will be forgotten in few years like they never existed and yall still will be yapping about millenials. 😂
I'm a 92 baby and happy the baggy pants are back in. So much comfier. At the end of the day just wear what you want.
I must say, as a 38 year old woman, I don’t give a flying fuck about following trends! I wear what I want and style my hair how I want, as everyone should! TikTok is cancer
this is a funny topic because I don't think about gen z ✨ at all ✨ ... this millennial is just tryna survive lol
Same
Same here lol 😂 & i have two gen z sisters lol
Dear kellyann what do you hold in your profile picture it looks absolutely delicious
Ain’t that the truth 😂 💯
Gen Z has literally given nothing to society to be talked about. 😂
Same!! I'm a '99 girl 💁♀️ my fiance is a milennial
Pick an era you love and stick with it and rock it with confidence
It's especially funny now, because we're starting to see gen z commenting on and being cringed out by gen alpha, AND I LOVE IT.
😝
Yes and honestly its horrible😂 social media now makes me feel old and i do. not. like. it!😂 I just heard a few gen alphas (my sister and her friends) talk about the fact that they didnt know that harry styles used to be in a boy band and i almost burst into tears hahahahhahaahha😂😂😂😂
so: I get millenials now and i’m happy that we can now ban together against Gen Alpha 😜
100% agree!!! Same here!
Very true!
Older generations have been complaining about the same things in younger generations for literally thousands of years 😆
Agree!
I'm GenX and Boomers called my generation the Lost Generation, the laziest ones ever
Ah yes how could I forget constantly touching my backside when sitting down to make sure my crack wasn’t out 😂 those were some dark days
Riiiiight, unless its 2017 then its "omg these are just my comfortable clothes and guys are all just perverts"
@@alexalynn5952 low rise = low confidence for me 😂 I’m super happy and comfy with high rise! I’m not here to impress anyone lol
Thankyou so much for watching 🥰
I learned about a “Mental Health day” from…a boomer 🤭😂🤣💀
I think there are IRL Gen Z and Millennials and then the chronically online ppl…who have gone insane 😳
I really hope it is true that gen z are holding boundaries at work. I’m 43 and my generation really f’d up at work
As millennial I think a lot of the defensiveness from our side is because we felt attacked by boomers for not meeting their expectations and now we're being attacked from Gen Z because we aren't meeting theirs.
We're not quite analog enough for Boomers but not digital enough for Zoomers.
What about gen x?! Why does everyone forget gen x?!
the only emoji you will ever need is and will always be the laughing tears of joy emoji
😂😂😂
I use it daily 😂
91 best year but same I see gen z as mini millenials tbh now the subsequent generations after that ya we might be in trouble lol
That’s interesting!
I think regardless of the generation oversharing individuals are everywhere
I knew a woman once who is a Gen X who granted wasn’t online but I knew way too much about her personal life for my liking 😂
Because yall literally can't tell millenials apart from gen z, because gen z age like milk. 😂
The vapid vanity of it all 😭🤣
I’m Gen x and I remember when Millennials told us not to say “cool”! I have to say, I was offended at the time but now I see how all fashion comes around and I think it’s funny how the time we’re born in really informs how we see the world. But then again, I’m old now 😂
I say cool way too often so this is funny to me 😂
Thanks for watching!
I think most of this beef is online, because in the real world are people really going back and forth like this? I’m 37…an 80s baby and a 90s kid….at this point I have four kids of my own and I’m too damn old to care lol. I’m not fake fighting with 20 somethings and teens I don’t know. 😅
In real life I see my 15 year old daughter and teen cousin enjoying stuff from the 90s and early 2000s, the same things I did. As far as fashion or really anything, people should worry about what they like and that’s it.
I'm very early Gen X and i'm so glad my whole life wasn't played out on social media
I agree with Genzs where the workplace is concerned. They are not taking sh…..t like the baby boomers and millennials did.
I try to have respect for where everyone else is on their journey through life as we’re all travelling to the same destination in the end (yeah, I know, what a bummer right?)
im gen z but that last vid was so cringe lmao
Man this is one of the most underrated channels on internet culture
On the aging thing 2 things 1. Sun screen, the whole ozone hole situation and smoking became very uncool in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, probably go along way
Very true!
I still have my old Gap/Express low-rise jeans (in a container in a closet). It crazy how the pants fit different and the fabric was better back then.
lol gen x here…ain’t no body jealous of either of these generations
I'm from 1998, I don't even understand what is going on
Anyone else remember eyebrows being on fleek?
Ah yes brows on fleek 😂
Agree 💯
It's a tale as old as time. Every generation has had the same beef since forever, but social media/ technology, etc, have given it reach everywhere. The last girl nailed the 90s vibe. Female gen x Au
Watch out Gen Z the Alphas are coming
Karma
😂
I think it goes from observing and copying -> differentiating themselves and beefing -> taking out a popcorn bucket and seeing the next generation repeating the same cycle
And also...who cares if you keep up with the trends if you walk into a room and you are perfect from top to bottom? Your style is decided by your personality, you can dress however you want if you can look at yourself and be proud of who you are.
Lol the last one is pure projection. What a nasty attitude of this individual.
I love your content even before watching! Thank you!
I appreciate that! Thankyou so much!
Did Gen X get tired of fighting the one-sided battle with Gen Z? Guess they needed a break to go drink out of a water hose
😄🤣😄🤣😄
Older millennial here! I had NO idea my generation was supposed to have a beef. Honestly, I really don’t care… wear/do what you like and that’s it.
On a side note, criticizing anyone about their shape/age/looks is the real concern here. Every single generation is struggling with mental health nowadays… isn’t it perhaps the time to start a trend of acceptance?!
I think we called yoga pants jazz pants in Sweden. A long time ago, in ancient times
Those are definitely jazz pants. Yoga pants are tight legs and thick waistband.
I used to have jazz pants to dance classes.
Only time will tell it will be interesting to see for sure
Thanks for watching ☺️
@@CaitlinPawlowski ❤️❤️❤️

You're the best! Thankyou so much I hope you have a beautiful weekend 🥰
GenX here... I'm actually quite happy that finally skinny jeans are not the only ones around - I stopped wearing Jeans back then
GEN X HERE. I LOVE EMINEM.. He's a legend. I have "Love the way lie" memorized.. Rhianna sounds amazing on that track.
Years ago hubby got a message from my friend and was so worried and confused why she put LOL “why would she put lots of love at the end of my mes” 😆
😂
When you are on the cusp of the generations 🕺
As a GenX’r, this was incredibly entertaining 😂
as a 28-year-old millennial/Gen Z-er.... those email sign offs were absolutely slay, and I may have to use them at my corporate job moving forward 😂
Omg yes!!
We still love each other and I’m actually trying to teach her to find her style and run with it and to stop following “trends”
When it comes to work, giiirl I set boundaries!!!! I take leave, I don’t bring my work computer home, and if I need it, I take my mental health days!!! 😒 😂
GenX here and it's just hilarious watching the generations beef online CONSTANTLY. It's my version of "darn kids, get off my lawn" lol.
😂
People need to start embracing aging more. My best friend died at 21 and I feel so blessed to watch myself age in the mirror every day
It pains me slightly to say this as a millennial but I truly believe we are just boomers reincarnated.
But the skinny-er fit works well with longer, floatier tops, inside boots!!)
Where's the general 'sense' gone?
