      I'm 58 brother, don't know how I got here. The older I get the more I realize just how beautiful life is and lately I can tear up just standing on my front porch looking at my beautiful neighborhood and knowing this is all going to be gone (for me) in no time at all. Almost any simple act of human kindness hits me in the feels all of a sudden. It's like everything has become bittersweet and I'm just now developing the understanding to appreciate it. The point, if you need one, is to live in and enjoy each moment, connect with other people if you can, be kind to animals, understand that we all came from the same place and we return to that place when our time is up. Cliche but true. Just be connected to the world as firmly as you can for as long as you can.

      @@GooseWayneTV I do! 😂 I’m 41 and terrified of getting older, the aging stick is finally hitting me in the face 😢 and man it’s so disheartening, I’m not the hot pretty girl that I once was, who would always get compliments, I still get a few but ehh it just sucks getting older and if we don’t die from cancer we will in a car accident is how my mind works or even an airplane, that’s why I refuse to fly!! I’m like if I die, I’m not dying thousands of feet in the air while having time to reflect before smashing into the ground with a bunch of strangers 😂 no thanks 🙅‍♀️ but yea we should all be more open about aging and also ageism! It’s a blessing to grow older yet we have these younger people shaming us for it 😢

    The trick isn’t to not be afraid of dying, it’s to not be afraid of letting go. Human nature is to try and hold onto everything, but nothing is permanent in any singular form. The only thing permanent is energy, and the transfer of it, and that gives me peace.

    • @Jduekengn
      @Jduekengn Месяц назад +6

      @@siamese605 Ive been thinking about the afterlife a lot and your comment gave me some peace. I was first afraid of me dying and what will happen after I die, the black nothingness of eternity. But knowing the people, the humans I share this world with will keep going gave me peace. Then I thought about the end of the universe, just like we theorize there was a start. How will my species survive that? But in reality that will probably be in trillions of earth years and we will learn a lot in a progressively faster speed and somehow counter that. But even then, energy doesnt disappear. Another energy bubble will probably appear and burst and create another universe. All in all I just want the world to keep going.

      Don't focus on the end or you lose sight of the journey. Instead of focusing on dying and the end, worry about living the life you have now. Why fear Death if you're not even living the life you had? Live your life and try not to think so hard about passing on. Think that in all likelihood you're probably only about a 5th of the way through your life, given medical advancement. You still have so much time to live before you have to "pass it on" and give someone else a chance to shine. So light it up while you can and don't worry about the future until it gets there. - DD 💜❤️

    I am 36 and I feel like I can't feel accomplished no matter what I do anymore. I worked hard my entire life in the culinary industry just for the virus to destroy all of it, leaving me basically wondering what to do now. I got into game dev and ended up working alongside the creators of The Elder Scrolls, and even that wasn't enough. I feel lost, I went from this self-motivated person that was on my stuff to somebody that just kinda drifts around.
    I'm not giving up, but to be honest I don't know what to even do anymore.

      Just keep trying. Some things in life don't come easy and you just have to keep working at it. If you want to do game dev, just keep at it and eventually it will stick. It might suck for a while, maybe you wont make enough money at first, or maybe its difficult in the beginning, but it will get better. You've got this.

    • @WildWombats
      @WildWombats 2 месяца назад +2

      Sometimes you are the one who has to make of it what you will. That elder scrolls position was somebody's dream, but for you it wasn't for you. But for so many people, that woudl have been a DREAM job, something they'd be giddy about, making them really fulfilled to be working on something so important. That doesn't seem to be for you. You might not even know what you want per se, but keep searching, and something will surely click. The accomplishment you seek is only given to by yourself. One can feel accomplished for doing absolutely nothing, but one may also never feel accomplished no matter what he does, even if they were to ascend to President of the USA. If that is the case, then you have to set your accomplishment bar a lot lower because you've got some sincerely impossible accomplishments in mind. It's okay to lower the bar especially if that bar is impossible to reach.
      Many people are content to not achieve a thing. That's okay, I believe. Another question you ask yourself is, do you WANT To be remembered for all of time to end? At first, I used to think yes. But more time thought, I think no, I don't wish to be remembered for all of time. I am content with my immediate family and relatives/friends knowing of my existence. It is unfortunate, but there is no way every single person can be forever remembered (at least not right now, perhaps future technological advances can change that).

      You have to remember that life expectancy isn't necessarily what you seem to think it is. This isn't a measure of natural death, it literally averages out the ages of people who've died. This means that it includes ALL deaths, so things like accidents, drug overdoses, murders and even infant mortality will drag it down. Being in your 30s is not middle-aged!

I count myself lucky to have made it 8 years. I've had the chance to build stronger relationships with my family. It's given me a lot of time to read and strengthen my faith. Mundane routines will make it seem like your life is on turbo mode. You can cruise through decades like they are hours. In my 20’s I realized that if you make your life unpredictable & chaotic then it will make it seem much longer. That’s why life seems to speed up as you age because you start to know what to expect and it all starts to meld together. I am 37 now with a 5 year old and I try to make things interesting everyday by trying new things & going new places. It’s difficult, but I have noticed it seems to help.

      Yeah, when you repeat something you did many times your brain starts to enter in "automatic mode", and it's like you're not even there, and memories are not formed, and then you perceive time as "fast",
      Time isn't fast you just don't remember nothing between the dates you're trying to recall because it's all the same
      So trying new things, forcing the brain to think, being uncomfortable really seems to make time slow down

Middle-age doesn't have to be this scary, existential crisis like you may believe, it can be the beginning of yet another chapter in your life. To the best of your ability, fill your life with experiences that you'll remember and hopefully cherish because at the end of the day, life is nothing but the culmination of all those experiences. Favorite video you ever did. Im 35. Lost my stepdad 15 years ago, he was 42, my father this year, he was 61. Life is intricate. So many factors, so many emotions, so many correct opinions and wrong facts, and vice versa. Ive learned to embrace pain. Its in its own way a healthy restoration of soul. I see a lot of pain on a lot of faces out there, unembraced and broken by it. Mid life crisis is something were waiting patiently to hit one day, i think we need to use our imagination as vividly as we can to put ourselves in those shoes as early as possible. If you tell an 18 year old he/she has 2, at most 3 more segments of the life lived so far, it puts into perspective what can be done with that time. But we live by pre-implemented chapters of growth already designated for us, we wait for the next chapter to finish to see what conclusions we can absorb, instead of learning now through introspection and imagination. One of my most stirring recurring thoughts is when i lay in bed on my back and i close my eyes and imagine i was already gone, that this is exactly how i would be laying in my casket, and a wave comes over me like meditation mixed with breathlessness, it reminds me of my mortality, of my fleeting strength, my increasing disillusionment.... need grows deeper, desires fall away. In the past few years Ive quit cigarettes, ive quit drinking, im almost free of thc now too. Seeing videos like this remind me im doing the right thing for myself. These are years long endeavors for some of us. Some of us dont hear these affirmations too often. Goose youre the man, wicks or no wicks 🪿

It was the strongest emotion of my life, you could barely even call it terrifying, it was magnitudes stronger than that. Then suddenly one day recently , my fear suddenly dropped back to zero. I didnt accept it, quite the opposite. I opposed it. I wanted to fight it as long as i could and for as many people as i could. It was my life goal. I'm glad to see you post a video on this because I myself have had severe existential anxiety my whole life (I'm 19 not too old yet haha). I used to have my parents promise me every night that I wouldn't die in my sleep because the fear would consume me daily. I got really good at running away and surpressing the fear of dying, dissociating from it, but lately I've found that I should just maybe sit down and have a talk with death, not in a morbid sense or anything. It's just I realized that if I keep running away from that fear I'll never overcome it and there would come a day where it would be my time to pass and I would still be afraid, and I don't want to be afraid when I go, if I have to go I at least want to be at peace when I do. So now that you kind of have my backstory I wanted to share some thoughts that have kind of helped me with my constant struggle with this, I doubt this comment will be seen in the flood of 3,000+ comments but thats exactly why Im writing this whole essay. Even if it reaches one person, helps one person, thats enough, because I know how much it would mean to me if I heard this years ago. For one thing I think the very fact we even fear death to begin with speaks for itself in many ways, I've grown to think of it as beautiful. Most forms of life on earth just live and die and they never think twice of it, sure they might instinctually fear it and avoid it but they don't understand it like we do, we unfortunately have the privellege of being the only form of life capable of understanding a fraction of the mind boggling complexity that is life. I mean just think about how powerful that statement alone is, you are part of likely the only species in the universe that grasps the very concept of life itself. I think that alone gives me some hope of something after death, its just too odd to me that we alone perceive such utterly massive concepts even at a surface level. I think the fact that we fear and/or acknowledge death makes our lives so much more beautiful, they are not just a blip of light in eternal darkness, they are each their own spectacular fire that could set a forest ablaze. Even if there is no life after death we do create the future, even if your flame burns out, the forest continues to catch fire, you are not just an ember destined to flicker away, you are the spark that set YOUR world on fire. We burn as bright as we can because we fear the day we stop burning. I kinda went on a bit of an "inspirational rant" there but I want to touch base to what my original thoughts were, I mean just really let it sink in that no other lifeform in the perceivable universe can think like we do, I mean even if we we're just a product of some explosion in space it's still so spectacular that life capable of understanding so much around it would ever be developed from such events. Life typically just exists you know, it just follows the normal timeline but a little bit differently, it is created/formed, sustains that form, then passes away, they don't question things, they just DO. It's natural, what isn't natural is how much we truly understand, saying its mind-blowing is an understatement. A being that came from seemingly nothing concious AT ALL that has the potential to understand IT ALL. Even the concepts we can't understand are acheivements, try to imagine a new color, a completley new color, not a mixture of other colors, a completley new color, you can't, its impossible, we can only understand what we perceive, yet we perceive what we cant understand, the very fact that we perceive the concept itself is insane. All of these thoughts and no other lifeform even reaches a fraction of our level of intellectual capability, it's just simply so incredibly bizarre, no human can wrap their head around it logically, human intelligence is such an anomaly, it is either the single greatest miracle to ever happen, or there is something beyond this life. Anyways those are just my thoughts about this so far. I still fear death every day of my life but I've found it better to find my own understanding of it rather than be consumed by it my entire life. I don't want to feel this fear forever. [Edit] - I mean even think about identity, the fact we attach an identity to ourselves is crazy itself not even animals really do that, I mean look at dogs/cats seeing their own reflection, they get shocked because they don't have a real concept of themselves, they just experience. But humans don't just experience, it's so hard to put into words my ambitions exceed my mental capacity, but humans don't just experience life its almost as if we exist beyond it. Again its so hard to express what I mean by that, but just the very fact that we have our own identity, we say "I am me", we can't even perceive a world where you don't have a concept of your own identity, thats how ingrained it is into you. You can't perceive a world where you don't acknowledge YOURSELF, and yet again the very fact that we can point out the absurdity of our own concept of identity just continues to prove my point here, we are spectacular, inconceivable beings regardless of if death is permanent. So don't let fear consume you, understand it, it's what we're best at.

I want so badly to go back to being healthy but, I can’t so now even though it depresses me, I try to just make it to tomorrow. I try so hard all day to be thankful to be able to care for them. To see them smile and laugh and cry. To kiss them and hug them, to smell their hair when they want to comforted. Or to hold my son longer after I rocked him to sleep. Life is short and meaningless, so dont worry about too much and focus on having fun , making memories, and living in the moment ❤

    Wow, love seeing him be real for a video. I love all his videos but this was the first real one I've seen, and boy did it hit hard. I'm 35 with a 2 year old, looks like I gotta stop sleeping in and pick up a few extra hours to save for Disney.
    Love this Goose, Thank you!

      Belief has nothing to do with seeing the beauty in the short life we live.
      (I assume using the word "atheist" brings bots)

      Nature and the universe are truly beautiful, the way patterns of stars map out the night sky and fractal patterns exist in things like grass, leaves, bark, the branches of trees. I used to be atheist too until I experienced ego death on LSD. I saw myself die or what I thought was me dying, hearing a flatling noise and be introduced into this other dimension full of beings made of energy, but they were stuck in place because all they ever knew was all what they fed themselves which was negative energy.
      It was just a reflection on myself, but after yelling in a hotel at midnight, being taken home in the back of a car as it morphed into a chariot being pulled by horses, cobblestone houses emerging from both sides of the road like the medieval ages while a massive holographic castle emerged from the ground ahead of the chariot as the driver "kingdom visor" as I saw them, asked me where I wanted to have my kingdom built.
      I was having auditory hallucinations tripping absolute sack, and at the end when they dropped me off my friend looked at me. I was forced to look in this direction, I still wasn't me, or in control of me, and telepathically I heard "since you can't create anything, you are nothing" before the trip starting mellowing out and reality snapped back into place; as they vanished out of the doorway and even moments later after going outside to check to see if their car was still at my house it wasn't, it didn't even feel like but a minute.
      It felt like god or an advanced species was talking to me, I had goosebumps/chills all down my skin afterwards and it felt like I was reborn, a kid again, opening my mind to the questions of what more there really can be that we don't know about.

    Psychologists call this phenomenon the "reminiscence bump", and it helps explain why our earlier years seem so much more memorable than life after 30.

      Everyday routines is also what makes time seem to go faster. Until your 20s you have SO much new experiences, which decline later in life. Especially when you work 5-6 days a week, doing the same stuff over and over again. So the key is to try new stuff, make as much new experiences as possible...that can make it feel a little bit "slower".
      But in the end death gets us all anyways.

      @@reuterss306 The key isn't just about trying new things in a corporate environment. It's about choosing how you live your life and deciding the kind of life you want to lead, whether it's one filled with discontent or one where you're always content, no matter what happens. It's all about our perspective on life. Many people take it for granted, but some make the most of it and find joy in the small things.
