hi John I liked listening to your top 10. There is a few of those I havent tried but the majority I have tried and really enjoyed. Taste is a really strange thing I really like the 1792 it would be in my top 3, to be honest most of my favourite are gawith and hoggarth, but I have got a thing for the deluxe navy rolls(and cabbies mix), now its approaching winter Ill be on the black twist and black twist RM. Does your prefrence also change in the colder months John?
@@scott3991 Hi there. Not really. I kind of go in batches. So weeks of one tobacco before I need a change. Although I always come back to the chocolate flake. I like the idea though of seasonal tobacco.
@@JohnRichardHewittFineArt I have a few seasonal smokes John in the spring I really like latakia blends and a nice tin of Petersons balkan mixture, summer months I like to smoke various flavoured brown twist or dark fired flakes I did a long session on the aniseed twist last year where that was my daily smoke, lately I have only been smoking deluxe navy roll, conniston cut plug and erinmore flake Ive been smoking those 3 since about may. I just broke the pattern this month with some ennerdale flake. I do like a cheeky packet of long cut now and again though!
I'll have to try the SG Chocolate Flake by the sounds of it. I agree regarding St.Bruno flake being so high up, that was my first introduction to pipe-smoking so it must be doing something right for me still to be doing this 29 years later. I've never tried Condor ready-rubbed but i enjoyed the flake thoroughly. Unfortunately it seems this is yet another great tobacco to be sacrificed on the altar of arbitrariness.
@@JohnRichardHewittFineArt I think Charatan tobaccos are also touted as being similar to Dunhill but not to the same extent as Peterson. Perhaps i'll give one of their flake or coin-cut products a go one day.
While I fully understand that it's a commercial tobacco.....borkum riff is my current favorite and smoke....the ones you name are next ups....thanks John
Good evening John, well I’m finished and all done decorating and all done in at that! So normal service will resume and I’ll have to get some videos out. My codger blend is my X1X blend, Gawith Hoggarth cherry and vanilla mixed 50/50 with Erinmore mixture, I can smoke it all day everyday. Totally agree St bruno flake is an amazing smoke, and I always have some in my cellar as well as Erinmore flake. Have you tried Best brown Aromatic Flake? That’s also a big favourite of mine. Great countdown enjoyed it while I chilled out with a bowl of best brown aromatic flake.
@@PiperX1X Never tried the best brown. Your codger blend sounds intriguing. Currently having some Mac Baren Scottish mixture which is lighter and sweeter than the Bob's.
@@JohnRichardHewittFineArt I have a couple of tins of that Mac Baren Scottish blend but I’ve yet to try it, I’m trying to get through some jarred before I open any more tins,
I love Sam and Gawith chocolate flake I keep it in my rotation I know this sounds crazy but my ritual is this I lay out how many flakes I think I will smoke and leave them in the tray for a whole day then I rub them out the next day I let it sit some more then I pack and smoke and I literally have a Nirvana smoke every time no relights it’s amazing same and I do the same ritual with 1792 same results maybe I’m crazy but then maybe again I’ve blundered onto something?
@@RikkiSteele you might be onto something. Got to give it a go. I also love Bob's flake which I find stays lit easier. Plus it has a little more Lakeland which I love.
Also love you falcon. I several that I picked up in the 80s while in Europe
Well done…I’ve got to try your #1 but I do love my Bobs Choc Flake. 👍😀
In fact, I have gone back to bobs as my favourite :)
New Sub. Wonderful video. Cheers from the South Carolina Lowcountry (USA)
@@frogmorepipester7490 thanks 👍
I think the dead givaway was the comment about the round versus little square tins! 😮 CLICK!😮
Let me say I truly loved your review. I will have to try that No 1 that must be amazing
Beautiful tobacco - although Ennerdale Flake is possibly now my number 1

I used to love Dunhill Virginia Flake but that became acquired by Peterson? Not as nice as I remember. Luckily Bobs Flake is still as it was.
