We have two small scaffolds that we typically use on installations plus a ladder or two from time to time. I would typically recommend using large sturdy step ladders, to use them on level ground, and to move them frequently to minimize how far you are reaching. A second person and 2nd sturdy ladder is a huge help, but not necessarily required.
They are angled slightly to accommodate for the roof angle at the mounting locations. This ensures that the rack is close to perpendicular to the ground. If you have more questions please don't hesitate to reach out. Its easiest to reach us by email at csr@unakagearco.com but you can give us a call or chat us as well!
I am a fan of your rack design. I just received my rack and am starting the install tomorrow. My only comment so far, or question, is why don't you provide black painted bolts? since the whole rack is black?
Hey Scott, Thanks for reaching out. tWhen we developed the first HSLD rack kit (the Explorist Life version) with Nate, we talked about black but also liked the contrast of the silver. Over the last few months we have been discussing making all of the hardware black, but this process takes time. We will likely be shipping racks with all black hardware sometime in 2024. We really appreciate the feedback, as that helps us make improvements to the look and design as we make revisions!
will roof rack bracket 1.125” is tall enough for our Transit curse as we got your team reply to our inquiries that The rack brackets are 3.125" Long, 1" Wide, and 1.125" tall thank you
The dimensions provided (1.125" tall) was for the ProMaster roof rack brackets. The Transit brackets provided with the kits or sold separately are tall enough to clear the curve of the van roof and give you around 3/4" clearance from the bottom of the cross bars to the highest parts of your van roof.
Woah! Sick rack, and rad transit 🤙
Just found the manual on your site.😊
Glad you found it and sorry the card got left out of the box! Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any additional questions.
What are you guys standing on to access the roof? How to get so high is something I'm trying to figure out as I plan my install.

Are the mounting brackets exactly 90 degrees, or are they slightly more angled to accommodate the roof angle where mounting?

I didn’t get the card with my three boxes, just a packing list and a Unaka sticker.
