it was a mess when he came, we had like 50 players turn up to training, strolling, some didn't even wanna be here & he's thinking wtf. ultimately his rep is or has been tarnished bcuz he was most wanted at a certain point by most teams, hope he goes onto succeed in his managerial career
We have more players now than we did in the second half of the season he was in charge. That season he was in charge of the reigning club world champions and an experienced team who were 5th in the league when he came in. The squad only became bloated after the January transfer window too. There are no excuses for how bad that Chelsea team were that season. They looked completely unfit as time wore on under Potter, and we completely disappeared in the second half of every game due to fitness, he managed Chelsea terribly using players out of position and players who had good starts under Tuchel in Sterling, Koulibaly and Cucurella were terrible under him because of how he used them etc. Easily the worst manager in Chelsea’s history for me and he’s actually got the lowest win percentage in Chelsea history of managers who weren’t relegated and he gets off way too easily based off how bad he was.
@@barry4649 If Tuchel was not sacked, we easily would have finished in the top 6. Potter and Lampard ruined that season. Tuchel would not have accepted that massive turn-over in January.

@@therealpvc2541 can’t even blame Lampard if we’re being honest. At that point the longer Potters tenure went on Chelsea looked unfit and were dead in the second half of games. When Lampard was in half the squad was on the beach already and most didn’t even try for the last few games of the season

Laughable take. A P.E teacher doesn't take a Swedish 4th division side to Europe and beat Arsenal. An average manager doesn't lay the foundations in Brighton the way he did. De Zerbi took credit for what was 99% Potter's work. And an average manager doesn't have the ucl record he did with the worst Chelsea squad ever. Get a functioning brain and you'll do yourself and all of us a favour. What costed him at Chelea was that he didn't have a Palmer, Jackson etc to get him out of trouble. There were no match winners avaliable to him. It was a situation where in a world class coach like Tuchel didn't suceed in. And it took Poch 8 months to get inside the top 10.

This is a deluded take. He had a horrible squad and too many faces in the dressing room. There were literally 35 players he was managing. And he didn't have a Palmer, Jackson etc to get him out of trouble. Poch with a much better team than him had Chelsea between 10th and 12th for majority of last season for a reason. There were fundamental things wrong with Chelsea and a lack of quality. Potter is an amazing coach

I always thought Potter was overrated at Brighton, but given that Chelsea is an absolute dumpster fire, I don't think his time at Chelsea proved me right.

Luke Williams is the only manager we've had since Potter who has come close in terms of likeability and enjoyable football. I thoroughly believe if he'd had a second year with us we'd have been seriously looking at a promotion season.
Ultimately, Graham had a fabulous thing going at Brighton but made the wrong choice to go to a Chelsea squad which needed a firm hand. He was much more of a diplomatic soul looking to make everyone feel good.
Whoever gets him next will have a great man but he needs to choose the right club for him. That club certainly won't be Manchester United - lost cause that one.

Graham Potter has 4 half yrs left on his contract after being sacked by chelsea and will be paid 100k a week until that contract ends. Don't think he's in a rush to return.
Potter is the kind of English manager who speaks well, but if you spent an hour in his company talking about football you would leave knowing less than when you went in. He is just another Gareth Southgate - hopeless and useless.

Graham Potter is an alumni of University of Hull who was forced by Clearlake and Boehly to sign for Chelsea, only for Potter to become the scapegoat. Most memes of Graham Potter went too far, I'd say.
Wasn't a good fit for our club. Didn't have an experience with a big club like Chelsea. Made a lots of mistakes and got sacked finally. He is great for the smaller clubs like MU 😂

Potter arrived with a good reputation and highly regarded. Unfortunately way out his depth at a club like Chelsea and he was found out. Anyone who actually follows Chelsea and watching the games will testify to this most likely, tactics were awful at times, players played out of position, unable to change things in game or motivate players. He had to go. Good luck to him in the future but he's not good enough for a top team.
I thought potter was so unlucky. He came in at the most chaotic time possible. At that point, we really did have nearly 40 players, so many that wanted to leave, lost players because of sanctions etc. We struggled to score goals, but we didn’t concede many either and you could see his ideas on the pitch. He actually got sacked after a few decent results, then an unlucky loss to Aston Villa. I still believe he’s a fantastic manager.
It's easier when you loose your job and are paid millions. Kind of softens the blow. Only job I can think of where you can do a crap job and get sacked but then get the remainder of your contract paid out
English people know how to promote each other’s. How this guy landed the Chelsea job is still mind blowing. They are giving him publicity to take on Man- United coaching job. You are not an experienced coach, please stay away from top clubs!
Another terrible English manager overhype by media. His level is mid-table teams at best. Chelsea under him had one of the worst performances ever. Lost, boring, dead football and every interview of him showed how much he was out of his depth. One of the happy days as Chelsea fan was the day he got sacked.

I liked Potter but possibly the enormity of the takeover then needed a charismatic and more successful coach. When Chelsea were finally putting one or two results together, he was sacked. The players lost heart and had to start again which even Lampard had trouble with. A mid table team under the radar would suit Potter.
Tbh potter did as well as he could at Chelsea because we was a complete mess. Random players like 40 + players he had to deal with. Wasn’t easy what so ever for him.
Timing of this
How lucky are these coaches? They can take time off without any work and 'connect' with family. lol. Sacking Coahces and laying off employees are miles apart. On one side, there is still money and remuneration; on the other, there is a sense of loss, no sight of the future and darkness.
Nice guy and everything, but the football we played under him was some of the worst I’ve ever seen us play. 38 goals in an entire premier league season is appalling
