Karens Bath Tub Fun No it's not a sexual thing AT ALL. It relaxes people to hear a whispering voice. It's called ASMR. Some people have it some people don't. The people who watch these videos watch them to fall asleep and it relaxes them. It's got something to do with the brain. It isn't sexual. It can be things like tapping, whispering, rain sounds, bird sounds, ocean noises etc.
You know you've watched this video WAYYYY to many times when you know each dish by heart with your eyes closed as you fall asleep and in the right order as she tries each one. I caught myself acting like I was eating while I was fading away 💀😂 This also may be way I ate sauerkraut for 3 days straight randomly. 😂 Her old school food videos are golden.
in your chewing food videos you chew like you normally would and thats amazing! most asmr artists exaggerate the sounds and it ends up sounding sloppy and not so relaxing. but your videos always make me to relaxed!!
I have been watching this video for about 8 years. Since my oldest was born. I still love it today. I sure wish you did another one tasting, eating videos!
This was literally the first asmr video I ever watched, and I keep returning to it because it made such an impression. I’ve followed the channel ever since and it’s incredible how far you’ve come 🎉 Thank you for these moments of peace over the years
Me too first time I watched it one of my friends showed it to me on the school bus I didn’t know what asmr was it wasn’t popular back then but it put me on to a whole new world
Normally I have murderous feelings towards loud eating, but you manage to make it sound lovely and relaxing. I don't know how you do it, but you have found your calling in life. Thank you for your amazing videos.
I've watched this video dozens of times through the years and just realized she calls juniper berry "jupiter berry." Little things like that make Maria so endearing. ☺💕
Yes! In her sassy purse videos she calls tassels tessels and asks "is that right? I think it's right." And I find it so adorable when she does/says things like that.
I have misophonia, and generally eating sounds make me want to launch myself out of a window, but for some reason I find this video deeply relaxing! I wish more people ate food like you :P It would make my life better
I am the same way. I think is easier to watch since she actually chews with her mouth closed. The sound when people chew with their mouths open, be it food or gum, is horrid.
Wow, that sounds like a really unpleasant phobia to experience. Personally I like the sound of eating, so I can't really empathise with you, but a lot of ASMRtists use mouth and eating sounds in their videos so I can see why it would be bad.
I have misophobia too :0. Usually i would want to punch someone in the face for eatings, snoring, or breathing heavily, but her eating sounds relax me so much.
Ok, cut Maria some slack. Sauerkraut and kimchi are based on the same idea: that the leaves of the cabbage family contain an organism that naturally ferments the cabbage when it is aged with salt, a process that releases an acid that acts as a souring agent. Both are essentially fermented cabbage.
I remember when I found you 5 years ago... and here I am still coming back to this video. I recently started dating a Russian girl and when she brought up the Olivier salad for new years I was so excited because I knew what she was talking about because I watched this video so many times over the yesrs lol. You are the Queen of ASMR in my eyes.
Borscht always makes me think of the episode of The Rugrats when Chuckie gets sprayed by a skunk and borscht is the only thing that takes the smell away.
People who are trying to correct her facts about each plate of food she has, calm down, shes from a whole 'nother country and is still learning our ways of everything. Lord knows and so do we, that shes actually trying. That's all that matters.
I go to sleep so often listening to this...soooo relaxing love the way you say ' soups" and "sweets". You're still the Queen if ASMR ....best voice ever.
Request: Please buy Russian groceries and film it! Like maybe film shopping and/or unpacking the groceries after and then eat some of it! Like talk about the the things you buy and why and what's local or traditional for example, similar to this video, I love how educational it is. Also a cooking video of some Russian foods would be nice! It doesn't even have to be asmr, I loved your buckwheat video, I totally cooked it! Delicious! I also made Olivier salad because of this video, so yummy! Food is such a great way to connect to people. :-)
I'm a Russian/Ukrainian and these are common foods my family eats everyday. And for those who were saying that the kvashinaya kapoosta/sour cabbage, was actually kimchi.. It's not. It's much thinner not spicy and very sour. There's a big difference.
This is hands down my .ost watched RUclips video. Countless nights this video has helped me relax for the past decade. It's wild to think this came out that long ago.
Ok Maria.. Now that I obsessively watch this video a million times... And crave eating it all- could you possibly do a series and teach us how to cook each dish? I would love it! Asmr, your voice, cooking,,, it would be great! Like this comment if you agree so she can see it :)
I love how you literally make the 'this is delicious' sound with each dish. Amazing. I love the cultural information you provide surrounding these dishes as well :) Thank you!
i've only just discovered these videos a couple months ago when i just randomly looked up on google what the technical name for "head tingles" was. i've experienced the sensation for as long as i can remember, and have a clear memory of one of my teachers talking to us in a hushed quiet voice and the sensation was so great i couldn't even concentrate on what she was saying! always thought it was just me, glad to see there are others that share in this experience as well! :)
Same here- I remember it from a young age. About 5 years ago I was having a really hard time and I just googled "soft soothing voice" that day I discovered WhisperCrystal. It's wonderful to be a part of this community. So happy that you found it too :)

My first BIG brain tingles was actually from someone drinking my juice out of a bottle and just saying thanks afterwards. It was 7th grade and I didn't know her very well and she asked me if she could have a drink of mine because she was really thirsty and had no money so I said yes, in my mind i was nervous of how she was actually going to drink it, will she put her mouth on it? will she hold it over her mouth and drizzle it in? Does she want a sip or one swallow? I handed it to her and she just went for it and guzzled it like you would have thought she just crossed a desert and after she let out this big breath as she was saying thanks. She sounded soooooo relieved that she finally had got a drink. I think the combination of her Colombian accent , not expecting for her to drink it the way she did, the way i saw how happy and relieved that she was of finally getting a drink and her breathy way of saying thanks after. My first ASMR experience (that i can remember anyway, or my earliest BIG tingles). I literally just sat in school the rest of the day rethinking of the whole scenario in my head lol Just thought I would share that with ya.
Maria, you are the only ASMR person I can watch. I promise i have tried to watch others and I sit there and think "What are they doing?" It's like others are trying to talk to me provocatively. You are the only one where I feel like you are a friend that is just trying to relax me............... :-) Thank you. Thank you.

Maria, you have gotten me so interested in Russian culture. I'm planning on taking Russian when I get into college, and now I really want to make all of these. I've been subscribed for a while and I've seen this video so many times and I swear it makes me hungrier every time I watch it...
+Lauren S That marshmallow thing is not like a meringue, its more like a marshmallow, but stickier and it tastes like vanilla and strawberry mixed together :-))
I’ve tried Plov and Dressed herring salad and I love them. Every time I make one of those I come back to this video to eat with Maria. I would have never known about the dressed herring salad if it wasn’t for this video. I lost count of how many times I’ve watched it.
I'm a major in Culinary Arts, and I've loved this channel since I was 16. About 5 years now. This particular video has made me interested in cooking Russian cuisine JUST so I can try these dishes. They look SO good!
Honestly the one I most want to try is the herring dish! I'm a huge fan of "strange" food combinations, it's just amazing how completely unpredictable foods can compliment each other so we'll.
Hi Maria! I'm sure because you are so popular that you don't have time to take requests or read much of your comments, but I'm hoping you might stumble across this at some point! I seem to have a rarer form of ASMR which is visual more than sound. I LOVE watching people "place" things - groceries carefully into bags; setting items very carefully onto a table (like place settings really carefully) etc.; I love the way you touch and point to the foods in this video along with the soft talking (P's and T's are very triggering while also gently pointing and placing things). I'm part of a study on visual ASMR, and I hope you might consider making videos of this type! THANKS FOR LISTENING!
***** Aww! Thank you so much, Maria! You DO read your comments. :) I should have mentioned that you do have some amazing visual triggers in some of your vids. Your gentleman's suit fitting is one of my FAVES, as is the hair brushing and any where you are flipping magazine pages really slowly and carefully. I have almost gone to sleep watching people slowly flip through magazines in waiting rooms. Other people are bored, and I'm tingling all over the place. LOL Thank you for all you do!
I'm similar, I guess. It's not that I don’t get asmr from audio, but it's so intense it is actually unpleasant for the most part. I don't get how people can fall asleep hearing the sounds because I feel like I'm being electricuted or something lol. But I also get visual tingles that are much more pleasant and milder.
I have watched this video 3 times since discovering asmr only about 2 months ago. Maria is, without question, hands down, The Best asmr performance artist. It amazes me that soft spoken voice, beautiful hands and gestures can literally put me in the most relaxed state, which is no easy thing. What a gift you are Maria.
I normally hate eating noises and most asmr artists exaggerate them on purpose which makes it even worse. The wet slurping sounds are especially horrible. Maria's eating and chewing is so gentle and relaxing. This is good.
I play the video while I'm in bed and half way through it I'll be in the kitchen making something to eat! Damn! It's so relaxing but also makes me hungry af lol
I usually don't many tingles from videos like this but you did it! The Russian food too drew me in. The borscht and salade Olivier-oh YES. Замечательно! Огромное спасибо!
Maria the olivie salad is The CLASSIC argentinian food for Christmas and New Year. Annnd we call it Ensalada Rusa (wich means Russian salad) annnd we love it Great video btw!!
I started watching these videos because I find that her accent is soothing to me as well as the way she speaks. I love language and food and I was very excited to see the dishes presented in this video.
I have lost count of how often I've watched this video. I keep coming back to it. And I got to impress my friend's Russian mom when I knew what olivier and borscht were :D
Thank you, Maria! I love learning about Russian Culture from your videos! Seeing the different types of foods in this one was neat. I actually really liked the eating sounds, that gave me the most tingles out of all the videos I've seen of yours so far. :)
The "Marshmellow" Is basically meringue. Its found everywhere in the world and associated (usually) In french and italian dishes and in the UK's desert - Eton Mess :) x
My favourite version of zephyr is choc coated ( dipped ), a thin crunchy layer of chocolate and a white fluffy center. I have to say I can not eat mass produced marshmallows as I find those too rubbery and chewy.
Food and memories are tied together so much that there are some foods that can bring memories of my childhood and my mom's baking come rushing back into my mind. At 15:00 when you said "I've missed them a lot" is a perfect example. I think everyone has had a food bring back great memories while they are enjoying it.

I second said notion!!
I third that motion
I fourth that notion
Sam Hooper I don't think you know what notion means.
lol...good call Devine....
Thank Jenna for your suggestion. Will look into adding more visual triggers :-*
I'm the same
jenna My trigger is mostly people's voices but when I see people playing with hair and displaying their hands it certain ways it relaxes me hardcore.
I'm similar, I guess. It's not that I don’t get asmr from audio, but it's so intense it is actually unpleasant for the most part. I don't get how people can fall asleep hearing the sounds because I feel like I'm being electricuted or something lol. But I also get visual tingles that are much more pleasant and milder.
instead of getting sleepy, I actually had to get up and go straight to the kitchen
I have watched this one over the years many, many times....;)
still one of my all time favorite videos
You should do a closet tour. To show us your fashion and sense of style. :)
Keep coming back to this video. Something about it is so inviting and comforting
I usually don't many tingles from videos like this but you did it! The Russian food too drew me in. The borscht and salade Olivier-oh YES. Замечательно! Огромное спасибо!
I came here to sleep. Now I'm hungry 😂
Maria the olivie salad is The CLASSIC argentinian food for Christmas and New Year. Annnd we call it Ensalada Rusa (wich means Russian salad) annnd we love it
Great video btw!!
Maria,
can you please do another Russian foods eating video. This puts me to sleep instantly, i love it!
I have never felt so relaxed by watching someone eat...just amazing
I started watching these videos because I find that her accent is soothing to me as well as the way she speaks. I love language and food and I was very excited to see the dishes presented in this video.
i love russians when they speak english.. hope to visit russia soon..
Not only do I watch it repeatedly, but I always get a craving to make Borscht Thanks Maria. 😴
I always come back to this video even after all these years. Still holding on and hoping for a cooking video of these foods 😂🤞🏻
I always come back to this one
I come back here like once a week. No shame.
May 2019 I'm still watching. I hope you do another video like this ❤
Sarah Trotman January 2020
I have lost count of how often I've watched this video. I keep coming back to it. And I got to impress my friend's Russian mom when I knew what olivier and borscht were :D
Thank you, Maria! I love learning about Russian Culture from your videos! Seeing the different types of foods in this one was neat. I actually really liked the eating sounds, that gave me the most tingles out of all the videos I've seen of yours so far. :)
Five years later this is still my favourite video. I always come back to it, it’s so familiar and comforting now!
Still coming back in 2023. So many classics to revisit.
2018... still love
This is my comfort video. Not even into eating sounds but I always come back to this video (and it makes me hungry every time lol)
I have been watching this at least once a week for 8 years
The "Marshmellow" Is basically meringue. Its found everywhere in the world and associated (usually) In french and italian dishes and in the UK's desert - Eton Mess :) x
I was thinking the same thing
It's not exactly like that. The Russian version isn't hard. It's soft like a marshmallow.
In italy we don t have marshmellow but meringues (the hard ones) called meringa. We use those like a dessert or inside a cake.
My favourite version of zephyr is choc coated ( dipped ), a thin crunchy layer of chocolate and a white fluffy center. I have to say I can not eat mass produced marshmallows as I find those too rubbery and chewy.
Man this is the OG!!!! ALWAYS come back 2021. I'm still here 💯
according to the subtitles one of the dishes is made out of babies and the ginger bread was paid sexually into town lol
HAHAHAHA DAMN
Argh DAMNIT! now I’m watching with subtitles on and I’m focussing on the hilarious translations rather than relaxing!! Thanks for that 😜
😂😂😂
That sounds like my kind of gingerbread
According to CNN and BBC, too
This never gets old! Please do another one :)
Food and memories are tied together so much that there are some foods that can bring memories of my childhood and my mom's baking come rushing back into my mind. At 15:00 when you said "I've missed them a lot" is a perfect example.
I think everyone has had a food bring back great memories while they are enjoying it.
this is such a classic to rediscover, i used to rewatch it all the time in 2013
Well well well. Look what time cat dragged in...
Me. The cat dragged me. Back to this video 7 years later!
🤣
I always come back to this classic!
I Still watch this video in 2023 Still one of my favorites.
