      I know; I am not a fan of whisper videos; I prefer Maria doing soft voices videos best. She is SO creative - and such a great mom!! There’s little Mila practically ready for Kindergarten! Precocious and smart as a whip, that little Mila is!! A beautiful family all around. And when I get to feeling sorry for myself that I live far enough from my granddaughter that I can only go see her twice a year. So I think of Maria’s mom and dad - who we have seen on this channel having fun. But they live in Russia. That is a LOT farther from Mila than I am to my granddaughter. I also love it, Maria, when your parents are visiting because your accent gets primarily Russian when they are there!! And I know how that feels, as I am from Texas, didn’t move out of the state until 25. So when I talk to them on the phone, my husband says I sound like an actress tryout for Dallas, 2020, or something like that!!

      The RUclips algorithm brought me to your channel after I watched a documentary about a Soviet defector.I watched you talking about your troubled first few years in the USA. It sounds as if you were trafficked. You probably would have been pimped if you had gone the strip club route. Terrifying story! Glad all is ok now.

    This is a side of Maria that I've never seen, but I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT!! Please know that you don't have to always speak very softly or ASMR style on your vlog channel, we love you for you! and I hope that we can get to see more videos like these, where you don't have to be "on". We love you no matter what

      Somnolent verve Yes!! I love her historical soft voice because it was just *her*. I guess I noticed she changed her soft voice when she did the Canadian Reese Peanut Butter Cup last October. It seems to me that she was doing a new soft voice with harder diction than before. I go back and watch her old ones just to get her regular old Maria voice. BUT, I do understand why she changed it a little. But oh yes, love her, I do!!! And I love to just watch her sweet American family...

    Good idea with the carrots and cauliflower! Gotta try that! My mom puts in bacon bits which is less healthy lol

    So for some reason, 3 months later I suddenly remembered the bird's milk cake in this video and decided that I REQUIRE it and there isn't a Russian store anywhere near me. Apparently it's ptichye moloko cake (птичье молоко) and it's called bird's milk because "bird's milk" is an idiom of ancient Greek origin meaning "an unobtainable delicacy". It's basically thin sponge cake with a custard cream filling and chocolate ganache. I've decided I'm going to try to make it but for some reason they're all just layered, none of them are a log like this with spirals. Except there is one bakery in Las Vegas that has something very similar. Anyway, I'm just going to try to roll the normal layered cake into a big roll instead of layering it. I can try to post a recipe when I do if any of yall are interested, provided it turns out well.

    Here in Mexico we have something called "ensalada rusa" "Russian salad" idk how it got here though, but it's the potatoes, carrots, peas salad you mentioned but we add shredded chicken.

    • @Forgefaerie
      @Forgefaerie 3 года назад

      my mom always cooked it with shredded chicken even though in theory typical olivie would have bologna type sausage, called "doctorskaya kolbasa"... because she thought chicken would be healthier. and it is, but the rest of the salad kinda defeats the purpose :P but anyways, your reply reminded my of our family's modification to the recipe :) shredded chicken!
