Bravo! I've been having a lot of fun with this song (and your instruction) over the last few days, and I'll have more fun polishing up over the coming days and weeks. Glad to stumble across someone else who appreciates Robbie Blunt like I do.
Was learning Big Log and stumbled on your In the Mood lesson. I only watched the nice intro upon leaving this comment and it was great. Thanks for your work. Gonna have to learn this amazing song now!
Awesome, yeah love this song. Not sure if you were looking at my Big Log lesson or someone else's, but if not check that one out too, I get great feedback on that one too.
Yeah, amazing that all those parts other than the solo is pretty much all triads and it sounds perfectly suited to the song. Anything more would make it too cluttered
I love lessons like this that teach the parts of the solo clearly, explain some of the music theory behind the solo as well as teach you a little about the player from whom the solo came. Such a great song and such a great lesson.
That chromatic riff is A major pentatonic blues Then a B minor pentatonic shape over E ( E dominant sound) Then an E minor blues shape Which amounts to "A dorian pentatonic" The riff is totally simple but RB new what he was doing with those blue notes
Thanks for share it. Greats from Argentina. Can you help me with style of dist pedal for songs like Heaven knows of Now and zen álbum o RP? I seek a kind of distortion pedal that close to this kind of tone. Thanks and excuse my english
thats a tough one. That song actually had Jimmy Page playing the lead guitar on that, in the 80s he was using his Vox AC30 amp cranked up and overdriving to get his sound, so that was amp tube distortion/overdrive. in terms of pedals, its really hard to say, but a good one that comes to mind is the Wampler Plexi Drive Mini
Great video, and yes, Robbie Blunt's playing is fantastic and deserves coverage.
Well done. Robbie Blunt is awesome! Nothing flashy, just tasteful music!
Thank you so much for this detailed lesson. There's something about the tone and triads which makes this song so hauntingly beautiful ❤

This is all about why it's important to learn your triads! Thank you so much for calling out the notes, and not the string/fret numbers.
