Cody...this series has been great. You don't live by schedules, so don't worry if people say this series is taking too long. I think you'll find that there is a large number of us who feel this way - and we will continue to watch and support your channel. Thanks for what you do! I've learned so much over the last year. I'm so glad I found your channel!

One of the reasons I've enjoyed the channel so much is because of the ramblings in these kinds of videos. I don't care a bit about building a treehouse, but somehow I keep watching.

    It's your channel.
Make the videos that you WANT to make.
People will watch or they won't.
Either way, the video will be what you wanted to produce and that is what's important.
    Personally, I'll watch.

I've enjoyed the vast majority of your videos thus far. Your loyal viewers will continue to watch no matter how YOU decide to load it. The only important thing I feel that is needed is to be true to yourself. In doing so you are being true to your viewers. Everyone is entitled to each owns opinions, suggestions, wants, needs and dreams. If someone else has an issue with the way you are or how you do things, the easiest thing for them is to unsuscribe. Keep up the great work, and I guess we'll see you in the next video. Plus I also saw the video of Jack working his skills with the comp. program stuff, that was pretty cool to see. The thought of our children of such a young age with the abilities of learning & applying that knowledge. That was really great. 2 thumbs up Mom&Dad. Good night.

Cody, I really look forward to your videos. I admire, not only, your wealth of knowledge but also your passion as a teacher to pass it on. I think its great that you can talk to a camera and make it seam like you are just in a normal conversation with a friend. I like the laid bike style on these videos. I have a lot of experience in construction and I think your choice of quality and design is spot on. If your going to spend the time and money to do something, just do it right and be proud of the finished product for years to come.

  • @OneTrickPAnda

I would not for one second, listen to anyone saying it is being "over built." I think this is excellent and ultimately a safe design. I don't have kids but for crying out loud, if they were going to be spending time in it, sleeping and playing with not only themselves but others as well, you're damn right I'd spend the extra time and money to ensure my kids and others safety. I'm new to your channel as of yesterday and I've only watched the tree house series to this video, but I'm hooked on your channel now! Thank you for making such awesome videos!

  • @chrissa51

I definitely prefer the longer videos like what you did here. The subject of the video (building the tree house) is important, but it's not the main reason why I consistently watch your videos.
You as the host, content creator, personality, and your thoughts and commentary on a whole host of subjects are what makes this channel special and so interesting to me. Being able to go along with you on your journey and see all aspects of how you get there with all the little side stories is why this channel is so great.
The small random discussion on 360 degree cameras while you worked was so awesome and well placed! It's the little extras like this that I love.

    Thanks,

I'll watch no matter what you decide, but, as they say "variety is the spice of life". I would say put both kinds of videos out there, I really enjoy the videos where you show the small details, the little things that nobody else shows, the things you only learn if you have someone older and more experienced teaching you. That's one thing that sets you apart from all the others.
    Enjoy the beautiful day!!

Honestly I like seeing both types of videos. It makes it more real to see a step-by-step video on a day you're feeling extra studious and then videos like this, where you share some personal advice and are more low-key.
A life of droning repetition is not one worth living.
    Keep up the good work!

Ya know, coming along as you build it, with all the details and comments you make, the conversations with your son, makes it unique, informative in ways you probably never thot about...like being a great Dad!
The fiddly bits included, are teaching ops for many who have zero or little knowledge of all those things...valuable lessons, even the small suggestions like blunting the nails to prevent splitting wood...all that.
    Keep it in your videos!

I can identify with Cody's comments about working alone and using mechanical advantages to get the job done. When I was growing up I liked to work on and build all sorts of things. My Dad was out of town for work most of the time and there weren't many kids my age around to ask for help. It really helped me to come up with creative solutions to get around needing an extra set of hands. Now I feel more comfortable working alone than I do with someone else around. I do however have two friends that, when we work together, can almost read each other's minds. That is really nice.

You have a good mix in your multi part videos. Sometimes technical and detailed, others rambling as you call it, and sometimes just getting.the job done. I think that if you have done similar tasks before you give less detail which is a good thing.
My favorite way that you present some of the repetitive parts of a project is when you play music over it. That really elevates the content from repetitive to enjoyable no matter what.
    Thank you,

I don't necessary watch the treehouse videos because I am learning how to build a treehouse, though, I do learn and gather ideas. I enjoy the comments along with the building. I think that is you at your best. The step by step video has a place, but you do better with the blend of comments, ideas, instruction, and life lessons. The first video that I ever watched was of you yarding out logs with your truck winch. I heard you say something about becoming a Christian and how that had brought order to your work. From then on, I took a deep interest in your site.

The relaxed pace of "having us along with you" is well suited to this type of project.
Condensed videos are good for certain things, especially when there is repetitive content or topics that you have previously covered in depth (or will focus on in a following segment).
Im with Mrs. W on the 360 camera view, it sounds neat, but would also be very revealing, and likely be cause for much more criticism from the critics.

Both kinds of video keep this channel interesting, focused and edited vids like "repair a shovel" "how things were done then vs now" are fantastic. These longer series are also appealing, i love the side tracking that you take us on. Threading the bolt father down for the tree house is a perfect example of the many mini problems that need to be over come on a good project. Same goes for the workbench series. That was very enjoyable. Plus it provides lots of content which we seem to be addicted too. Regardless what ever keeps you from getting burned out. Keep doing what your doing.

I enjoy the longer series because I can pick up a lot of helpful tips that i wouldn't otherwise get if the video was condensed down. IMO if people don't like the length of the series they can either stop watching or wait until the series is over so they can pick and chose what they watch. Keep up the good work!

I wouldn't change anything Cody. I enjoy listening to your commentary on various topics and I learn something from many of your videos. I'm 43, been working with tools my whole life including chalk lines. I have the same chalk box you have and I never noticed it would make a good plumb bob. Thanks for that! Also thanks for the tip about blunting the nails, never heard that one either.

I like the videos! Shoot them the way you want to, we appreciate the effort that you put into all of the videos. I think its a lot harder to do than people think so thanks for the effort and the amount of content that you provide.

I like the maximum content. It's more conversational and it makes us feel like we are right there with you. I certainly don't mind what you call your rambling. That's the way people talk with friends and family. Thanks for making us part of your family. : ) QST

The way you compose these videos reflects much of the way I have my thoughts during the day: while at or around one project, associations abound. So keep sharing what you do, why you do it, the choices you come across, the things you change your mind about, and so on; I'm highly interested.

I wouldn't mind a treehouse video like this once per day or two so I've got something to watch during my morning constitutional.
