An iPhone User critizeses Google for having a less customizable Homescreen. I mean, iOS isn't that customizable either and all the bells and whistles on One UI is just overdose. I get the point with the "At a glance" widget, but this is how Google want's it.
In my POV if the phone create the "mirror cast" as good "smartview" app from Samsung could be a true competition. As user interface is very friendly but for expert you can do a lot. I own the GP7pro is very fast compared to the other devices, even samsung and iphone. The only downside for me from the Pixel is the 0 privacy, even though ik no smartphone is very private but the Pixel is the least private. The GP8pro for me is not worth upgrade from the 7th

After having the iPhone 15 max and Pixel 8 pro , and honestly the Pixel 8 does so many useful things and actually makes the iPhone feel dated , and as for people raving about video on the iPhone , that fact that Google pixel can let you pause your video , move on and start again as many times as you like is insane , and if your streaming music from your phone and open the camera to record, the music keeps playing meaning that you can record and actually capture the situation you're in with the music that you're playing the iPhone just turns the music straight off. I could actually go on and on about the many features that Pixel has over iPhone that is so good and to mention a few clipboard saving up to 30 items, and as a business user that is seriously useful, been able to close all your apps down in one instead of having to swipe them away tirelessly , split screen it's also something I find very useful, pinch to zoom inside a text message to any text size . maybe I should do a video actually showing the real things that the pixel can do that all these iPhone users seem to miss out.
Fair comments , at the same time , iPhones do have areas that kill the pixel , I have both , but for general use if i go out I still carry the iPhone in my pocket , not the 8 pro . For a start the finger print sensor on the 8 pro is inconsistent and hit and miss at best , the same goes for the Face ID on pixel , it is just piss poor in these areas imo , add to that at times the delay in doing some things on the pixel does seem hardly Pro , not to mention a lot of items and tasks on the pixel have to be sent to cloud and back to the pixel to complete where as more powerful flagship models do similar tasks on the device way faster. Don’t get me wrong, the pixel is still a good device and does do some clever things , but clearly there is room for improvement. I might add some of things like the magic eraser while clever can at times be hit and miss and don’t work in some cases , still good to have though , but when you use a lot of the gimmicks you find , , for quite a few of them are just that and a lot of the time you just won’t bother with them after the novelty period wears off.
The Tensor G3 is definitely slower than other current flagship SoCs although I'm not sure it's entirely fair to use magic eraser to compare the performance difference between an iPhone and the Pixel 8. The Pixel 8 is supposed to use a much more advanced generated infill for it's magic eraser compared to the magic eraser featured on previous Pixels (and other phones through a Google One subscription) which instead uses a much more rudimentary (and presumably less computationally intensive) smudging technique. You can even see this in this video - the iPhone may generate the image faster but it also looks significantly worse than the one generated on the Pixel. I personally really like the "At a Glance" widget and universal search bar, to the point where I've installed the Pixel Launcher on non-Pixel phones, but I can totally understand people's complaints with them and it would be nice to at least have the option to remove and/or move them. At least there is the option to install a different launcher.
I just got a brand new Pixel 7 just under £400 one of the best ones I’ve ever had. Yhh it’s not perfect but I freaking love it, I don’t want my phone to be a freaking Laptop or Tablet that’s why I bought myself an iPad haha
I'm returning my Pixel 8 Pro for S24 Ultra. Not bad phone but why not when AI is supposedly getting fixed in the phone itself on S Gen 3? Currently it goes to cloud to generate AI features on Pixel. But not a bad phone though.
I disagree with a lot of what said here. As someone who switched from apple to this pixel 8 pro, I say this phone is miles better than iPhone. The pixel 8 pro is faster, holds signal better and works with bad signal, something iPhone can't do. Also nearby share works a lot better and faster than airdrop. The pixel 8 pro is smoother when scrolling. Iphone for me was always laggy. This phone gets 8 hours of on screen time while the iphone i had got 4 hours. I had the iphone 14 pro, a pro phone that sucked so much and just didn't work. This new pixel 8 pro feels like a pro phone, acts like a pro phone and is just all around great. I say its definitely there.
I really do not agree that this phone feels bulkier. I have moved from a 6 pro, 7 Pro and now at 8pro which actually feels like I'm holding a smaller phone.
It is shameful the way most of you "Reviewers" talk with such authority as if you are the "Know it all", and then speak and feel so pleased with a company that has offered the least innovation since Steve Jobs passed, what the pixels offer is convenience and practicality for the day to day tasks without trapping people in costly devices for the same daily functionality.
Google kept what's good, but also kept the beta/unpolished feel of previous pixels - while increasing the price to a range it probably placed itself as the worst flagship in the price category. The Nothing Phone2 with Gcam is a much better buy, with better stability, more polish and a more snappy experience. Don't even talk about putting it against the iPhone 15 pro or the S23Us. A thousand dollar phone shouldn't need 3 seconds to process an image.
Iphone's scrolling seems slower as iOS locked the refresh rate to 80 Hz afaik with 14 pro/max. Compared to that my pixel (7 pro) seemed smoother, especially when locked at 120 Hz. Also, s22 ultra's skin tone turned out to be better than iPhone 13 pro and 14 pro side by side. Idk why you are saying it's the first time android matching iphone. Huawei p50 pro, mate 50 pro are miles superior in terms of skin tone than 14 pro max. Another funny part is customisation part. Samsung has always been the superior brand for customisation but so many built-in features made its earlier one UI made a bit sluggish compared to pixel and iPhones
So far my review of the pixel 8 pro is my screen gets frozen, the camera at 12 mp feels cheap but at 50 mp it's great, the battery life is pretty awful if you are a daily user like me. I'm definitely not impressed with the front camera at all and how long this phone takes to charge. And the AI isn't that great for phone calls cause it still picks up loud noises and wind. For my first ever google phone I unfortunately won't ever be going back. Should've gone with the s24 but I think I'll just go back to apple unfortunately.
At 4:51 in the video phone is at %98 percent and it predicts 2days and 16 hours of usage. Mine is %100 percent at 00:22 and it predicts that I can use it until 20:00...
Depends on your usage of the phone. I did an idle test where I left it alone to see how long until it died. So based on that usage, it estimates a full 2.5 days.
if you don’t use hardly it all it may last that long , in general use though it drains way quicker , and I’ve compared it to my iPhone 14 Pro Max , in the same usage the pixels battery life is ok , but it is not great , and I suspect a lot of it , or at least a percentage of it may come down to how much google makes use of cloud for tasks compared to other brands . It imo stands out like dogs balls when the pixel does processing via cloud that other phones do on device way faster.
I think Motorola has the best skin as far as stick android goes but oneUI is the best in my opinion, if Samsung didn't have to copy apps we already get with good then they would really take the lead. Live this video. Very well done I love the listing and overall mood, nice work.
Agree. I returned my pixel 8. It’s ok but there r always issues. 120hz stutters n jumps. Always on display didn’t stay on consistently, one hand mode was inconsistent. Battery was poor. Didn’t want to wait for a fix or be a beta tester again. It never feels refined. Price hike is unwarranted imo. Pixel lost its value proposition. I will say the speech recognition is unparalleled. I’ll just keep my 6a.
I returned mine as well I wanted to love it but for a $1,000 we don't get a flagship chipset and I don't care that you don't need it I want the best in my phone if im paying for it! You can also tell this when using the ai generating features it takes a while to generate anything. They should have put in the gen 3 snapdragon! The battery also didn't last that long and I found heating issues when using video chat. Might have to also skip over the pixel 9 pro until they start working with tsmc. I also hate the fact that Google hid geekbenche scores for the 8 it just rubs me the wrong way.
4:03 Strongly disagree on the scrolling. I tried out the Pixel 8 Pro for one week coming from my iPhone 14 Pro. The Pixel's scrolling is horrendous and laggy/janky. It will be smooth in say Chrome, but i get stutters in RUclips (even in comments sections) and OMG the Reddit app is HORRIBLE for janky scrolling. I found that in many apps. $1000 for a phone that has the performance of a $500 phone. (I returned it the other day).

Store employees can tell you if people are returning a certain phone more than others, but from my experience, I have always had more knowledge about the products than the people at the stores.
